Fantastic Greek food with great service, great food and good prices. The Branzino was fantastic as was the chicken souvlaki plate. My only complaint would be that the side salad with the souvlaki plate needed a dressing.

This little kitchen can put out some really tasty food. The service is right on. The space is lively and the owner seems to know and/or checks in with every customers. Not many places are like that anymore. Mom & Pop's joints is a thing of the past...this place is a must to stop in and have some really good & fresh quality food...Cheers!

Calamari Platter... yummy!!!

Love this place!!!! The food is delicious!!!! The portions are generous. The people are super nice!!!!

Good friends filled with good food!

Delicious food, most of it prepared by the owners. An enduring community treasure. The "traditional Greek" dishes - pastitio, moussaka and spanakopita - are not to be missed

gorgeous decoration and environment

Just got back stuffed like Thanksgiving. So delicious we had a great waiter. First I lived in…read moreAstoria for 15 yrs can't believe how much it changed from diners to great places to eat. We had a salad, with slices of fresh feta, Greek olives even dill, cut nice and chewable. Three of us shared appetizers. Forgot name in Greek but the American version the fried cheese was yummy, then a Branzino cooked to perfection, we had another dish looked like a lasagna with Bechamel' sauce baked 2" thick, that too was delicious, also even though I don't eat meat. An appetizer that was like mashed potatoes with garlic and a plate of lemon potatoes. Haven't had those cooked so well in years. The food just kept coming everything FRESH even the cream pastry with fresh cinnamon! I wish I remembered the names in Greek unfortunately I was too busy eating. - doggie bag was graciously given when we left. Definitely recommend and will be returning. As we were leaving the line out the door. Some very good Greek food more authentic than many in Manhattan. Real deal here.

George warmly welcomed us and even let us know that street parking would be free after 7:00 p.m.--a small but thoughtful gesture that set the tone right away. The restaurant had a lively, inviting energy, and throughout the meal, George delivered truly five-star service. He mentioned he's been there over 18 years, and it clearly shows in his effortless, seasoned, and genuinely attentive hospitality. Complimentary bread and water with a generous bowl of fresh lemons arrived immediately, a simple yet appreciated touch. We shared a medium Greek salad and grilled octopus--both outstanding, with the octopus especially tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We even took a few bites before remembering to snap a photo. The salad was served with olive oil and herb-infused vinegar on the side, allowing you to dress it exactly to your liking. For our mains, I ordered the grilled whole porgy, while my husband chose the shrimp spaghetti. The portion of fish was quite generous--I ended up taking most of it home, as I was already satisfied after the appetizers. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his pasta, and after tasting a couple of his shrimp, I completely understood why--it was delicious. To finish, we were each treated to a complimentary piece of galaktoboureko, a thoughtful and fitting end to the meal. Warm hospitality, a vibrant atmosphere, and well-executed dishes made this a truly enjoyable experience. We'll definitely be back.

I recommend booking a RVSP for their indoor garden area if possible as that portion of the restaurant is stunning (pic included). Nonetheless, both their regular indoor and indoor garden area is very reminiscent of Greece. Service was great. We got their fried calamari, dakos salad, spinach pie, and safritos. Everything was great. While I thought that their fried calamari and spinach pie was pretty standard, I truly enjoyed their safritos and dakos salad. Their safritos beef shoulder was so tender and you had the option to eat it with beans, lemon potatoes, or fries. We chose their lemon potatoes and thought that it paired so well. Their dakos salad was also light, refreshing, but so flavorful. Amazing meal and probably my favorite Greek restaurant in NYC.

I thought the food was delicious overall, but there were some items that were meh. But the (free) bread was sooooo good - it was super fluffy and I couldn't stop reaching for it. We ordered the mix grill platter and the youvetsi orzo pasta, which was the perfect amount of food for 5 people. For the mix grill platter - the sirloin was perfectly seasoned, the beef patties were crumbly and flavorful, and the loukaniko was deliciously charred. However, the chicken skewers were a bit dry and the lamb chops were not as tender as I had expected. Their tzatziki is very mild and bland and their pita bread was on the thinner and harder side. The orzo dish was just okay. The pasta itself was cooked well, but I found the taste to be almost watered down; the beef chunks were also dry and failed to soak up any of the flavor from the tomato sauce. All said, I still really enjoyed my experience. I'd love to go back and try the seafood platter.

I'm always a sucker for a good chicken kebab, but it has to be tender. Can't eat chicken breast kebabs when it isn't tender. I rather eat cardboard. However, this place made a great chicken kebab. The octopus could've been grilled a little more, but overall the food was good. Besides the food being good, we met the owner of the location. Nice lady and had a sharp tongue. Witty and clever with her words. She made us laugh as if we've known each other for years. If we ever end up back here again, it would definitely be to see her again. The place itself was small, cozy but not much of a decor. Bunch of musicians from Greece on the wall. However, they do live Greek music on Friday nights and I believe weekends. So if you're looking for some authentic music and good food, definitely try Dionysos out if you're in the area.

I loved our waitress she was so friendly and funny and made some great reccs! She also informed us about why theee weren't many people at the restaurant (several are fasting for lent) Ambience: it was empty when we got there at 1pm on Saturday! But they have a stage and a lot of tables! I can see this as a place where many from the community gather to eat and listen to music Price: for my main and splitting two apps we each paid about $35 which I think is fair! I also had leftovers

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.
