Green beans and potatoes in olive oil... (side dish)

A Hidden Gem in Agora - A Truly Elegant Greek Mediterranean Experience I had such a lovely early dinner at this beautiful Greek restaurant. I sat by the window, which gave me a peaceful view and made the experience feel even more special. From the moment I arrived, I felt so well taken care of. The server Eduardo was kind and attentive, the space was elegant yet comfortable, and the whole atmosphere was inviting. I ordered a delicious fish dish FRIED FILET OF SOLE, tartar sauce and lemon served with potatoes and green beans - fresh, simple, and perfectly cooked. For my appetizer, I chose TZATZIKI Greek yogurt, cucumber & garlic - flavorful and unique! They also brought out fresh bread with garlic oil, which was a lovely touch. At the end of the meal, they surprised me with a complimentary dessert. It looked like a delicate, nut-free baklava, served beautifully with fresh pineapple and orange slices on the side. It was light, sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. Prices were average for the area and definitely worth it for the quality and experience. Take a look at the pictures - they really say it all. If you're in Forest Hills, don't miss this charming spot.

Tonight was my first time trying Agora Taverna- I went with a group of 12 to celebrate my friend's birthday. It's a cute little restaurant on the corner of Forest Hills' busy Main Street. With the windows, it gets tons of natural light, and is a relatively quiet restaurant too, even when at full capacity. It's very low-key, but at the same time, beautiful. I was impressed by how well the servers managed our large group, and I was even more impressed by the food. We ordered a few appetizers for the table, including tzatziki, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, calamari, and zucchini chips. This place is another instance of me liking the calamari, which doesn't happen often at other restaurants. It was tender and flavorful, and honestly didn't even need the sauce it came with, because it was that well-seasoned. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced and very lightly fried, so they don't leave you feeling weighed down. The stuffed grape leaves taste like the ones my mom makes- which is a very high compliment. It's like you're eating at somebody's home and not a restaurant at all. The hummus and tzatziki are both such classics, and were of course incredible. Paired with the warm pita bread, it was perfection. For my main, I got the fried filet of sole- all entrees come with a side of garlicky green beans and lemon potatoes. I savored every bite, but it ultimately ended up being too much food, so I took it to go. Now I have another meal for tomorrow! To end the meal, they provided the table with complimentary galaktoboureko, pineapple chunks and orange slices. It was very subtly sweet and perfectly creamy. It was the perfect end to our meal! I'm very happy this was recommended to my friend for her birthday dinner. It was everything I'd hoped for and more. Go to this restaurant!

Ummmmm Hello Greek food on Austin street. I don't know why I always miss this place, but when my friend wanted Mediterranean I did a Yelp search. I didn't want to just do quick to go from the other stop on Austin. We thought we would give it a try and also it didn't hurt they had a happy hour. A glass of the house white was sipped as we chatted about live and reviewed the menus. Some dips and some kabobs were had and everything was AMAZING! There is something about lemon potatoes (the cake with the kabobs) that I really could just eat them all day long. We also got one of the special appetizers which was everything bagel seasoning encrusted feta. It was topped with dates which was a nice touch. I just wish it was a bit more warmed up as it wasn't that spreadable. Finally, we ended the meal with complimentary dessert; Greek pastries and orange slices were had to seal the meal. And what a meal it was. Would definitely for back to fulfill my Greek craving on Austin any day!

Always delicious, always good service. The portions are all good for sharing. This is a great option for eating both healthy and delicious food!

Yuck the food is so bland. I was craving for some tzatziki sauce with some with a lamb Gyro like a classic one, not the white sauce that everyone gets from the Halal trucks. This was an absolute disappointment. It was disgusting. Charging all this money for trash

I came here as I wanted to eat greek food, so I decided to check this spot out. Interestingly enough, there weren't that many Greek dishes in this place during brunch time. I was able to see the dinner menu as well bc my friend and I couldn't make a decision. When you sit down, they do give you complimentary muffins for the table. Which were pretty good. For my meal, I got the beef gyro in a pita bread, which comes with salad + fries. I did ask for more salad and no fries. It was mediocre. I was expecting more from this place. Hopefully, it was just that one dish and not the others.

Skirt steak with lemon potatoes potatoes and broccoli

Came here last night with a friend who comes here often. The food was amazing. We had the complementary warm pita with drizzled olive oil. Appetizers included grilled shrimp with lemon and olive oil and the agora chips. Both were delicious. I did feel the shrimp could have used a bit more seasoning, but that's my personal preference. Are greedy selves devoured the agora chips before I could take a picture. Skirt steak with lemon potatoes and broccoli was excellent. It normally comes with string beans but we were in a broccoli kind of mood. We ordered drinks off the happy hour menu including house made red sangria and white wine. We received a complimentary dessert as well. The service was spectacular. I've never encountered such pleasant and nice staff. I highly recommend this place. It's a great place to split appetizers and a main coarse. It's more than enough food.

I was exuberant for the occasion of goodness to patronize, at long last. What gives you hope. There is an outdoor seating patio that occupies the entire sidewalk and half the street. The weather was gloomy cloudy, but not raining which enable my party of two to dine outdoors. Our table was uneven wobbling and shaking minimal the entire meal which reminisce "Lisa from Temecula" sketch from "Saturday Night Live," but not as violently aggressive shaking. Customer service is average attentive. Oddly, our appetizers arrived first and my wine did not. We had to request my wine which should be distributed first without request or reminder, thus the four stars. This restaurant was not entirely busy nor crowded for a Friday early afternoon. Nick's Bistro is a small cafe with a modern aesthetic appeal. I enjoy and prefer to be well-cultured expose to all international cuisines without judgment and an open mind for appreciation and global awareness. I am not knowledgeable with Greek cuisine, but I do know that Astoria is the locale for the go-to restaurants. I enter with a empty stomach. I exited fulfilled. Business cards and candy were available for grabs. Nick's Bistro is easily accessible via MTA NYC Transit buses Q53 SBS/ Q52 SBS and then Q54. Dramatic irony: this business name is also the name of my former love - not the same Nick, certainly not the same man. My foodie synopsis: Lamb gyro sandwich, $12.00 The meat was soft, but fresh and Tzatziki sauce was heavy. I do not consume lamb often, but once in a blue moon I would not exclude lamb to consume. The pita bread was the highlight which was fresh, soft and cooked with a good consistency without burning or harden. The gyro contain very pauacity minimal vegetables of lettuce, half cherry tomato and red onion. I always prefer red onion. I prefer regular tomato. This sandwich ate my fill to sustain hunger pangs the entire afternoon. Gyro sandwich is always my default Greek entrée of choice. Oddly, this entrée is price higher than listed on their website for $9.00. I do not believe their website is updated for price. Caesar salad, small $11.25 It was fresh and delightful filled with Parmesan shaved cheese. This portion is actually medium size. The croutons are thankfully not hard, but I never like croutons at all. I am always enamored with the lettuce. Ruffino, Chianti, 2019 red wine $12.00 This wine is one of my favorite reds, but it is difficult to find at most restaurants or cafés not widely offered. It was a joyous delight. It is exactly as is dry, very medium-bodied smooth finish Italian red wine from Tuscany, Italy, crafted from indigenous Sangiovese grape. It highlight bright cherry flavors and surely tasted. I was floating in very high spirits. Chicken rice soup, pint $6.95 Served luke warm but not piping hot with steam visibly emitted. It was also served with Oyster crackers. It was enjoyable and warm the heart. Greek Omelet, over easy egg whites $16.50 It was served with Greek feta cheese with vegetables yellow zucchini and pita chips. I highly despise Greek feta cheese and the same for Greek yogurt because both are extremely heavy, thick and too rich. I do not see any tomatoes. This entrée did appeared well prepared and well cooked but no runny yoke. My neighbor thoroughly enjoyed this entrée. Every time I think of omelet it bring flashbacks from past long-haul international flights major airlines of standard airplane food popularity for in-flight breakfast, often served with potatoes, sausage, or roasted vegetables. Nostalgia brew. Omelet? Flight attendant, I'll take the Continental with pastries, toast and fresh fruit please. Then followed by Bedtime Care Bear make me fall asleep again.

We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. There's a lovely rustic, yet high end vibe. It's also immaculate. Our server was fantastic...just the right balance of friendly, attentive and helpful. It was hard to choose appetizers because I actually wanted one of each. There aren't a lot of Mediterranean choices near where I live currently so my eyes were definitely WAY bigger than my stomach. That said, we shared the halloumi and three different dips served with warm pita. Then we added a last minute choice of grilled sweet sausage for my stepdad. Before we even received our appetizers, they brought a lovely pile of warm pita with delicious sides to accompany: olives, white bean spread, and red pepper hummus (I believe... whatever it was, it was delicious!). The appetizers were outstanding and it was really hard to pick a favorite. Each one of the dips was delightful: taramasalata, hummus, and eggplant. I tasted a bite of the sausage and I understood why my stepdad enjoyed it so much (perfectly cooked and just the right amount of seasoning). The appetizers were new to my mom and she truly enjoyed everything. Her main course was crabcakes and she raved about those as well. I chose the Souvlaki with a side of grilled vegetables and it was exactly what I wanted with perfectly spiced and not overcooked cubes of chicken. The other grilled chicken dish got a huge thumbs up...and that's from a super picky eater.
