I really loved their crab cake but they are pretty sketchy intentionally obscuring their "B" health rating with a tree. Just something to keep in mind if you're sensitive with food safety

Came here on Mother's Day while we were in the area and were happy they had availability. Everyone was very friendly, and the decor was amazing. The atmosphere and overall vibe inside were great. We started with the salmon tartare, which was okay. I was expecting a bit more salmon, but it had more guacamole than I anticipated. The octopus, however, was cooked to perfection absolutely loved it, and the presentation was beautiful. We also tried the dark ale lamb chops. They were very tender, but for me, the flavor was a little lacking. For dessert, we had the baklava, which was delicious. The drinks were tasty, strong, and definitely worth ordering. The restaurant is located in a busy area of Astoria, so parking can be a challenge. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would come back to try more items from the menu.

We had an early dinner at Amylos. The weather was beautiful, the windows were open, it was a cute vibe. Could be casual or for a special occasion. The food was excellent. The fig salad and the lamb chops were spot on. We also enjoyed the octopus appetizer and a fish dish. Service was quick - food came out very fast.

I came on a random Sunday night for date night and there was no reservations needed to get a table. The service was impeccable, everyone was welcoming and attentive! We ordered the Tuna Tataki, Fried Calamari, Crab Cake, Beet Salad, Scallops and a side of lemon roasted potatoes.

Came here for a birthday dinner with the family. We had no reservations but it was not packed at all so we did not think it was an issue. We were immediately seated by the hostess that had a bland greeting. Once we sat down, we waited for our server. As time passed by I thought we were completely forgotten. Another minute passed by, I planned on speaking with the hostess but out of nowhere one server came and gave us water. Then another waiting session for a different server to take our orders. We were gonna order appetizers but by the time our server came we were so hungry that we decided to just get straight into the entrees. As always I ordered my favorite chicken dish and as always it was DELICIOUS. So was the Mac and Cheese. Our server checked in with us once but we were about to finish our meal so at this point what else was needed besides a to go container. This server was nice but service was just not there comparable to the first time I came. Giving it four stars because of the amazing food and beautiful restaurant.

I went here with one of my best gal pals for Galentine's Day Dinner. She had the calamari for appetizer & Garidomakaronada for her main course. I had the Beef Skewers for appetizer & Short Rib Rigatoni for my main course. She had the Porn Star Martini & I had the Super Paradise Mule. The food was good & we enjoyed the ambiance & decor. My only critique was kind of pricey for the amount of food we had, and the hostess's were a little nonchalant when I checked in for my reservation.

Wow, this was amazing! I stopped in for lunch and was seated immediately. The complimentary pita is out of this world with olive oil and fresh herbs. We tried the Greek style mac and cheese, the lamb burger, and the stifado. Mac and cheese was unique and exactly what I wanted it to be - a great obvious blend of Greek cheeses. The lamb burger was huge and fresh with an appropriate amount of feta sauce. Truffle fries with it were fresh and extra truffle-y. The stifado fell apart at the touch of a fork and had great and flavorful cinnamon-y tomato sauce. Tables were cute and I liked how they kept the doors open because the weather was nice. Overall great service, good value, and delicious food. Not to mention free cookies for dessert!

Had a reservation for my best friends birthday party. Ans when we got there the table was ready which is always a plus. We were all greeted right away as well. The service was great from start to finish our waiter answered any questions we had, Panos was his name. Everyone's meal came out fresh and was so delicious. I opted for the short rib rigatoni which came with a huge piece of short rib, my bestie got the truffle risotto which we've had in the past but it has definitely changed from my them but still tasty. All and all would recommend this place as it's super beautifully decorated inside and out.

Short rib was a bit dry and required the additional sauce. Scallops were cooked perfectly and tender. The moussaka was excellent, a beef/potato lasagna-esque array of savoriness. Lamb shank was very tender, though the sauce was a little sweet.

Stopped by after work for a bite and drinks with some colleagues. Ordered the spanakopita and it was very tasty - would definitely order again! A bit pricey in general, and service wasn't as top notch as I'd expect, but would definitely come back here

Dark lit dining area with a warm glow sets the mood for eating in Amylos. Maybe it could be romantic, but the liveliness of the patrons gives it more of a family feel. Trendy and comforting at the same time, what stood out the most in this Greek Taverna? - Moussaka: traditional of the Greek style, it was smooth and creamy, baked with eggplants, melting in your mouth, teeth optional. - Squid inked Pasta: Can I really taste the squid ink? I couldn't, but the black pasta was a novelty. A good pasta dish if you are looking for less creamy taste. - Grill Fish: I got the Porgy, and it was fresh. Grilled fish had an option of with or without bone. They pride themselves in fish, and the flakey texture did not disappoint. The food itself was fine, but was stood out the most was the service. Our waiter was Panos, and he was the most courteous and knowledgeable server I ever had in a while. He made me felt welcomed, informed, and full. I wouldn't be surprised if he was one of the owners of Amylos. If more people were like Amylos, maybe the world won't need to move towards the self-service model.

First time visiting this place the food and service were amazing. The place itself is cozy. Interesting drink menu. The Ode cocktail was good with a nice smoke finish. All the wood options were delicious we got the mushroom cigars, veggie stack which was very flavorful, beet salad, truffle risotto which didn't skimp out on mushrooms, scallops that bacon marmalade is everything. For desert we got a cheesecake baklava which is really sweet but what else would you expect from a baklava dessert.

    Black Sea Bass

The place is really nice and staff were great, however the food for groups was a scam and the overall food taste was not good at all. We ordered the Tomohawk steak which was meant for three people, it was barely one large portion and very fatty. (See photo). Questionable on whether that bone even belonged with that steak. And at a cost of $175!! We also ordered a 3 pound black sea bass. Very dry, a bit fishy, and clearly not the size it was supposed to be. It honestly looked like they took the head of a 3 pound fish and paired it with a smaller fish on the plate. (See photo only a little removed and on a plate in the photo). The waiter did reduced the charge to a 2 pound fish, but at $84, it was still not good at all and very overpriced. The best thing we had was the Greek salad. The saganaki was weird (still tasted good though). Mousaka was ok, fig salad and salmon tartare good. Overall, way over priced for the food quality and taste. Hopefully this gets better in time and/or they step up their game. Astoria is full of great Greek spots and this is not one of them.

Yesterday, along with a bunch of others, I braved the smog (blame Canada) to go to this Algerian…read moreseafood place. It was pretty quiet inside, outside of the TV playing somewhat loud highlights from the World Cup on loop (why,) with the servers and staff being helpful and friendly. In comparison to the other pick-your-own seafood spots like AbuQir or Hamido, the spices are a tad lighter here, being almost closer to Astoria Seafood, minus the olive oil. I didn't mind, though, as the fish was all fresh and perfectly prepared. To drink, our table stuck with water, though there are a few mocktails and some sodas, including some Algerian ones. They put down some simple bread with a bit of garlic and herbs, which was refilled. For non-seafood dishes, we had a few. The first was the $8 Hmiss, or Hammis, a dip made with roasted pepper, tomato, and garlic sautéed in olive oil. The warm dish was earthy and garlicky, and went perfectly with the bread, with the flavor reminding me of a warmer version of some Turkish eggplant dips. There was also the Peasant Salad for $12, with cucumber, tomato, red onion, and Kalamata olives topped with feta, oregano, and dill. If you're familiar at all with Horiatiki/Village salad, it's basically the same thing, though with crumbled feta instead of a block, and it was refreshing and tasty. Finally, we eventually got an $8 side order of Basil Garlic Mashed Potatoes, which were decent. The first seafood to arrive at the table was the $16.99 Algerian Sardines, which consisted of sardines from Morocco with a spice mixture. The man in front recommended them fried, and the portion was nice, and the flavor was excellent. The fish was fried perfectly, with the bones fried enough that the entirety of it could be eaten. This was delicious, and one of the highlights of the meal. As we loved these sardines, we eventually got a small order of the other option, the "Marinated Sardines" from Spain. These were a bit more expensive by weight, being $10.56 for 0.48 pounds, but by comparison, these were much flatter and larger. The half pound consisted of three large pieces, which were broken down and divided among the group. While I slightly preferred the spices from the Algerian version, I liked the texture of these more, as they were more meaty. I don't think you can go wrong with either, as both were excellent. There was also one pound of Mussels for $17.99, which was available in one of two cooking preparations, Moules Marinière or a version with tomato sauce, herbs, and feta. I went with the latter, and they were excellent, with all of the mussels being open. The feta added a unique, slightly salty touch, with the broth being delicious. They had brought us out some extra bread, and we made good use of it. If I were here alone, I might have this along with some sardines and leave very happy. We also got two whole fish, which were both ordered grilled and butterflied. First was the Dorado, or Orata, for $29.24 for 1.54 pounds. As is typical for this fish, it was delicate and light, but had plenty of flavor. The other was the American Red Snapper, which was a bit more expensive at $37.90 for 1.58 pounds. By comparison, this fish was a lot thicker and therefore, a bit more flavorful. We enjoyed both, with a slight preference going towards the cheaper fish for most outside of me and one other. Another highlight was the Scallops for $37.23 for 0.98 pounds, which came out to 14 large pieces. As recommended, we got these sautéed, with the scallops coming in a delicious garlicky juice on the bottom with plenty of other herbs. The scallops were tender while staying plump, though I slightly preferred the more caramelized tops at AbuQir, with these having a more uniform texture. The rest of the people liked what I couldn't eat, the $24.99 Octopus for around half a pound. The octopus came out pre-cut, which made splitting it very easy. I can't comment much on the flavor or saltiness as some other reviewers brought up, or else I'd be in the hospital right now post-anaphylaxis, but people liked it a lot. If you don't want to bother with the lines or crowds at the other fish spots, I would highly recommend going here. The fish is fresh, perfectly prepared, and seasoned just enough to highlight the natural flavors. I would go back.

They do reservations but there were plenty of tables available on a Saturday afternoon. The service was ok; they could have been more attentive in refilling the water. The chairs were a little rickety and the bathroom door would not lock. Food was pretty good though. Complimentary bread is provided with free refills. The eggplant dip was good and garlicky. The fried calamari had a light breading and was delicious with the two dips (no marinara though). I wasn't fond of the grilled shrimp as the char made it slightly bitter. Sauteed might have been a better choice. The grilled branzino was light, delicious and slightly garlicky. The sauteed scallops were delicious and were my favorite. It was cooked perfectly tender with a delicious sauce. The rice was nicely flavored and a good side dish for the meal. I preferred this to Hamido's except for the grilled shrimp and bread. The seasoning is lighter than Hamido's (which can be overly salty) but I think it compliments the seafood better.

The list the prices up front, so that was somewhat awkward process?? I ask for octopus, scallops, smelts, and a red snapper . The octopus was the most expensive item, it was marked $45 a pound.. We were then sent to 2nd floor for seating. Since we needed a table for 2, we got a very small table near the stairs. The table was so small, we knew right away that it be an issue given the amount of food we ordered. Our waitress came by and we added grilled eggplant, lemon potatoes and the beat salad. The brought us a small basket of pita like bread, hot, fluffy and delicious. So we had all the appetizers but the food took 30 mins and from the looks, it dis not seemed busy. In my opinion, the side dishes should be brought out with main courses but i guess thats NOT what they do here. I recalled asking at the counter for light seasoning on the red snapper. When the fish came to the table, it had some type of breadcrumbs and oil or butter. Which in my opinion is not bad but i appreciate the unique texture and flavor red snapper has all on its own. The octopus was good but i never had it sliced looking like bacon strips. Tasty but different, scallops had a little paprika, cooled perfectly. The smelts were fried just perfectly, like good french fries. I assume this restaurant is a mix of middle-Mediterranean cooking style. Food was tasty, style of service was definitely different. I will come back and try the lunch specials during the week. As a side note, accessing the restrooms was very confusing, they have 2 restrooms, there was a line to get into the restrooms. Very clean bathrooms for sure.

The branzino was outstanding, and the rice brought me straight back to childhood. Every dish tasted like it was made with genuine love and care, because it was. If you want to eat somewhere that feeds your soul as much as your stomach, come here. We'll be back every chance we get.

Being honest, it's been a while since I have returned because I have favored Hamido Seafood lately, right after a previous love affair with Abuqir Seafood two doors down. Then there is the old reliable Astoria Seafood and the new kid on the block, Le Petite Pecheur, which I really enjoy as well. However, once again, Sabry's proves again that they have the best pitas in the business. A full basket comes with fluffy and chewy goodness that none of their competitors can match. I do wish their dips (babaganoush, humus, tahini) were better as I have mentioned, but they are all solid 7's. Onto the seafood. What an excellent version of Grilled Octopus (9/10), with maybe the best crispy char I have tasted in recent memory. I do wish the sauce had a touch of vinegar. Not a big deal. Another near perfect dish was their Grilled Sea Scallops (9/10). They were extra large, super tender, sitting in a pool of delicious tangy sauce (reminiscent of NoLa style BBQ shrimp sauce). The Grilled Shrimps (7/10) were slightly overcooked, while the Taojine Mixed (7/10) was somewhat watery and a bit too dill forward. Lastly, the broth of the Seafood Soup (7/10) was clean and light. The calamri and clams were still tender, but the shrimps were a tad overcooked once again. Clearly after this meal, I have to add Sabry's back into my rotation of pick your own seafood type of restaurants. This was the place where I had my first experience with Egyptian style seafood and it is still one of the best after all these years.

My favorite is the salad -- incredibly tasty, with very fresh vegetables. The bartenders deserve a special shoutout too: always friendly, smiling, and great vibes overall. Highly recommend to everyone. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to.

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.

I'm so glad we did. It was wonderful. Some of the best greek food i've ever had. The service was lovely. Thank you to Daniel. My friends and I ordered a bunch of stuff on the menu and it was absolutely wonderful. There is also very delicious complementary dessert. It is a small restaurant so it's very tight. Everyone is kind of crushed together. The food is a bit on the expensive side but absolutely worth it. I can't wait to come back one day. Amazing experience with wonderful food and service!

If we wanted to get a table in the main dining room, the wait was estimated to be over 2 hours (we went around 8pm), so I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to go. The staff were very quick with service and very friendly. We were offered toasty bread with some lemon and an olive spread while we waited for our food (which also came out super quick!). We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. The octopus and lamb chops came out to $80~ pre-tax and tip. Would recommend if you're a fan of seafood!
