This place has been around forever, it's truly a Kew Gardens institution. My grandparents went here religiously decades ago, and I finally stopped by for dinner. Same owner, same man cooking the food, and quality as it used to be. Everything was fantastic and delicious. Complementary bruschetta toast, attentive service, great location, especially the outdoor seating to just relax on nice evenings. The chicken Marsala was perfect, didn't even need a knife to cut it. The pork chop special was also very good, perfectly pounded and crispy without grease. The tiramisu was divine and a wonderful ending to the meal, so soft and fluffy. I don't know why I ever forgot about this place, but I see it becoming a new regular spot. read more

It's nice in here. Food is good. I had salmon and spinach and it was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfect. My boyfriend had a chicken parmigiana and it was kinda soggy. They definitely overdid it with the sauce. Both of our drinks were yummy tho. The service was ok. Could have been a bit better. I had left my purse by accident and had to come back and when my boyfriend called on the way back they just said it wasn't there. He had to tell him to go actually look. Like I remember as a kid, going to family pizza restaurants in Queens and western Nassau county. That's pizza. Nice clean place with a little bar and tables out in front. The staff are fun to talk to while waiting for my reward. It came. I had to walk 10 minutes with a cane, smelling that incredible sausage grease perfuming my immediate space. I could picture it based on the wonderful Italian spices. I knew the crust was perfection. I could feel it cc through the bottom of he box as I got back to my brothers place. I got to the kitchen and immediately served the first slices to my brother & I. Coupled with an icy cold Beck's beer. I was in pizza paradise. Enjoyed dinner at Spolini's. We started with adult beverages. We ordered a small pizza pie for the little one. She loved it. Ordered the beet salad and the Caesar salad. Both very fresh and tasted great. Our entree's began with eggplant rollatini , paccheri alla Norma, Bronzino and the Veal Marsala. All fishes were great. Our waiter was very personal able, great attitude and very experienced. He loved the little one. The ambience has changed over the years. Now a very quaint small great restaurant one must try. Spolini's is our families go-to gathering place whenever we are in Queens visiting my in-laws. I dont even know where to begin. The service is amazing. The waitstaff is absolutely attentive, warm, funny, and knowledgeable on their plates and wine pairings. It's like a sophisticated Italian restaurant without any pretentiousness. Spolini's is a true hidden gem in Kew Gardens if you are looking for an old school vibe and excellent food and attentive service. I have been three times now, and each time was just as great as the last. Each time, my friends wanted fried calamari and it's great. You can tell the calamari isn't frozen prior to dropping it in the fryer and the sauce on the side is robust and awesome. Oh my goodness! What can I say!!! We had an amazing experience. The food was great. The service was superb. Me and hubby will definitely come back. I had the Sea-bass and hubby had the penne alla romano. Lastly, I'm not a big tiramisu fan but my God that had to be tiramisu I've ever had. We had a really nice meal. Ordered the pappardelle special with sausage, bracciole, and meatball. The bracciole was so soft and perfect. My family had shrimp francese, chicken francese and fettuccini Alfredo. Waitress was very nice and personable. We sat outside which was really nice. A couple guys were smoking but tried to move towards the street which was nice but we could still smell a little. Ordered from this place twice once was for takeout and the takeout was delicious except the way that they packed our food caused for some of the garlic butter sauce to completely leak out of the dish even though it was carried very delicately I think the plastic top and foil bottom is not the appropriate container for liquidy dishes like that. Looks clean and simple from the outside so my boyfriend and I wanted to try a new spot. We recently moved to the neighborhood and we're always down for pizza, pasta and a hearty house salad when we don't feel like cooking. I love that the margherita pizza is only $10 and the house salad is worth the $10 too - a combo I will forever love and I get two meals out of it. My boyfriend has enjoyed the cavatelli bolognese. I don't eat meat, but it smells delish' and it's really enough for two people as well! The second time I went in while waiting for my order, I sat at the bar. The guy at the bar was very respectful and welcoming. We had a nice conversation while I waited for my boyfriend to get there after work. Can't say I know them well, but the few times I went it, I'm finding that it's a lovely neighborhood restaurant. It's also very cool that they've been around for many years. I came across this restaurant while exploring the neighborhood. Not only does this spot have delicious meatballs, their bartender Frankie was beyond professional and provided excellent bar service. He went out his way to prepare me a drink that wasn't usually ordered from other patrons. He not only did a great job with the drink but it wasn't weak or watered down. I was so blown away by the food and drinks that I actually used this spot to cater meatballs to my house warming party. The meatballs were a hit and they were for a party of 50 people. They also have an area that could be rented for celebrations which is separate from the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this spot for date night, family dinner and call in food orders. read more

Food is done family style, we started with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes then shared Penne a la vodka and chicken Scarpiello. The worse was the tomato with mozzarella. The mozzarella tasted bitter to me. The bread at the table was hot and fresh which is a plus. They also had garlic bread which was passable. They had Caesar salad which was ok, just ordinary salad. Then they had a penne course. The pasta was al dente but very plain. Next came the main dishes which were the best. Spolini's was no disappoint for good quality Italian cuisine with professionalism attentive service. My friend's diet soda at $2.50 and my Kamikaze cocktail on the rocks at $9.00 proven liquid revelry for the evening. Our dinner consists of one family style platter of Rigatoni alla Vodka at $22.00 shared holds substance and flavor. Bread distributed were served in olive oil which I prefer. I had dinner with my partner at Spolini's tonight. I was a bit hesitant from the reviews but then I looked at the reviews more carefully. Most of the negative reviews are for delivery. In any case my experience was excellent. The waiter was extremely friendly. He suggested some specials and we began our tasting journey. We started with the meat and cheese platter. Then we had one of the specials meatballs made with sausage, beef, and broccoli rabe. That was truly delicious. Then we moved on to the next special which was Pappardelle with a veal ragu. This was excellent and the veal melted in your mouth. At this point we were getting full and took a wine break. Finally we had the chicken parmigiana. This too was very good. I can't comment on desert because we were too full to try any but I will definitely be back. read more

Today, I ordered a small Margherita pizza for takeout from here, as I've done several times before with no issue. Unfortunately, this time I arrived home and opened the box to find a pizza with slices that didn't fit together to make a complete pie, which told me that the pizza couldn't have been made fresh for my order. I was going to overlook the fact because I was hungry and didn't want to go back, but there was also a long black hair on one of the slices, as well. I headed back and explained the issue to the employee I had spoken to previously when I picked up the order. He apologized and said he would put in an order for a fresh pizza. My experience only became worse after an employee behind the bar interrupted to explain that the first pizza was indeed fresh. I asked how, then, could he explain the mismatched slices, to which he was silent, and then offered that it "must have broken off, I don't know." After his dishonest and slightly rude retort, I asked if a refund would be possible if I ordered online. He replied that I would need to "call the people I ordered from and ask them." I said ok, then asked to cancel the order. He shrugged at me and said "do what you gotta do." Sadly, because of this instance of poor service and interaction, I won't be enjoying food here anymore. read more

Open my Marsala that I ordered with spaghetti, I instead received ziti, not even a full serving. I called them and asked why I had only one slice of both. He said " well you said a single order". Absolutely delicious food and good prices! My mom had the homemade gnocchi and I'm on a diet so I had to order the chicken Francese which was also great and tangy. I'm pretty sure the owner is aware who is writing this post but the service here is disappointing to say the least. My friend, who lives in the area and frequently visits here multiple times within the past few months, suggested we should have dinner here. The food is okay but the service sucks. Based on my observations, those who weren't Caucasian weren't treated the same. At first I thought I was being too critical but I noticed that the non Caucasian guests were ignored and had to request the attention of the waiters. Keep in mind there were 8 tables and 2 waiters. I've seen waiters serve better customer service with worse of a ratio. Needless to say, I personally won't be wasting my money here. I rather support the those that appreciate my business. Came here on Saturday night with the wife. Had a voucher and thought I'd check it out. First impression of the place was that it was loud and boisterous. Tables to close together where you can hear everyone conversing. The manager sat us literally in the middle of the noise. Dirty tablecloth on the table. Waiters running up and down the narrow path, twice scuffing my shoes. The red wine was not to my liking , so I stuck with the water. The food we ordered was as follows: Appetizers: stuffed mushrooms and Caesar salad. Both were not to our liking. Mushrooms had way to much garlic and oil. Caesar salad was just placed in a plate with a sloppy presentation. Waiter wasn't to cleanly himself, with numerous stains on a white shirt. Come on, be more presentable. Entree portions were sizable but felt short of the intended mark. My calamari marinara was a sea of sauce with little "life raft calamari " floating around. I picked at a few but that was it. Tasted like rubber, super heated. The penne my wife ordered was sub par as well. The only good thing was the broiled broccoli. The dessert we took home was unsavory and lackluster. The Resturant was empty so there's that. The owner/ waiter smoked 4 cigars right in front the Resturant in a 45 minute span and also decided to lean on my car that was parked right in front. My Daughter started coughing a few minutes into being seated at she was inhaling smoke. The food came and they put a hot pizza pan in front the kids, knocking over my husbands beer and my water.
