We had a funeral at St. John's cemetery and wanted to have a luncheon nearby. This restaurant was recommended by Cemetery staff. They have a special bereavement menu which includes two types of pasta, served family style, salad, and a choice of entrées.. The entrées were chicken, francese, salmon, eggplant, Parmesan, or grilled pork chop. This was followed by tiramisu and coffee. They offered the option to have wine on the tables, but we are really not big drinkers. I did a host bar because only about four people wanted a drink. The price was reasonable for what we had And the staff could not have been more accommodating. They set us up in their private room, which was more than enough for our needs. The place is classy, not pretentious. The food was really good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had their grilled pork chop. It was not dry at all. Others either had the Salmon or the Chicken Frances. All were good. Shout out to the manager, Joseph, for taking my reservation at such a short notice, and to Sho, our head waiter, who took really good care of us. We were invited to a dinner party, it was held in the outside venue. It was ok, but not aesthetically pleasing, very rustic. It was a pre menu set up and food was served family style. They served appetizers, very simple pizza bread, they then served Calamari, which was the only delicious item served and at least generously served, the only thing is they removed the Calamari plates before people were finished eating. Then they served an antipasto family style, that plate was enough for two people not for a table of 10, same with the pastas. They also had a menu with your choice of Chicken, Beef, Fish and Pork. I chose the Chicken, it came with 2 very small roasted potatoes, 3 vegetables and I didn't find it very tasting, the others mentioned how not enough on the sides too. The dessert was Tiramisu, not a full size, a literal sliver. They also offered coffee, cappuccino, tea and espresso at the end. I ordered the coffee, which was tasty but no milk or creamer was offered. Went on Christmas for a lunch with my mom and husband. The place smelled good, looked beautiful and absolutely had a FAMILY ViBE to it. Unfortunately, the food was SUCH A MISS!!! The Lobster Bisque was enjoyable. Thats about it. The baked clams were SALTY and the calamari was mushy. Mom ordered the filet mignon and she ordered it well done. It arrived with COLD mashed potatoes and BURNED STEAK. NOT WELL DONE, BURNED!! I ordered the penne a la vodka with breaded chicken cutlet. It had no flavor at all. My husband ordered cacciucco fiorentino which is basically a seafood platter over linguine with red sauce. AGAIN, NO FLAVOR. We didnt even bother staying for dessert and coffee. Didnt want to be further disappointed. We did pack the food to go and when we got home we had to add major salt garlic hot sauce and whatever else we can find to give the food some life. Met some friends for dinner here and I was pleasantly surprised. The dining room was arranged in a classy dark wood fine dining kind of way. The lights were dim to the point of feeling dark, but somehow this added to the cozy welcoming feeling. Our waiter was knowledgeable and patient. The place has a nice interior restaurant and a small rustic porch. We sat outside but we were not enamored by the decor and lack of thought that went into the set-up. The patio was strewn with folded chairs and rustic tables which were uneven Food: octopus was old, not fresh, and over cooked. We took one bite and returned it. Strike 1 I ordered spaghetti and meatballs as I like to gauge the Italian chutzpah of an Italian restaurant based on how well they cook a spaghetti and meatballs (if you cannot cook a good spaghetti and meatballs, you are not really Italian). Needless to say the, it fell short of the mark. The meatballs were nothing to write home about but the pasta tasted like it came from a package/box. Sauce was too "liquidy" as well. Strike two. My friends shared the shrimp special which portioned our like an appetizer. Both the shrimp and spinach were salty. They charged $42 for it! Strike 3. The bill came out to $142. Definitely overpriced and definitely not worth the excursion. Needless to say, we won't be frequenting this place again but the pain really lies in anticipating a place and it letting you down. Villa Erasmo is a delightful restaurant that our Kiwanis club regularly holds meeting at. This was my first time here and I came from Long Island. It was easy to get to and find. There is a parking lot on the side, but we found very close street parking. We entered a large restaurant which has a very rustic look and is dimly lit, (at least when I was here.) I found it cozy. The staff greeted us well as soon as we came in before directing us to our private room. It was a very spacious room which made it a perfect meeting spot. We sat for a while and discussed business while the servers took our orders. A small salad and a Chicken Cutlet Parmesan plate. Truly enjoyed my meal. Cool fresh salad and a thin tender piece of well-cooked Chicken. I always like a nice tasty sauce and this meal did not leave me disappointed, The portions of food were definitely plentiful. This was good and expected but not the norm in every restaurant I go to. This was a very enjoyable accommodating restaurant. Not local to me but worth the ride to enjoy and be with my friends there. We had a reservation on Valentines Day and chose this place because of the live music offer. However, the service from our waiter was terribly unwelcoming. At around 5:30pm, the place was halfway full and we put in our full order in. The waiter was very short with us and each interaction felt like we were not welcome. While our appetizers came out and were eaten, by 7pm our entrees were still not out yet despite multiple followups with him. Even the busboy came by to apologize for the waiters behavior and mentioned that he also reminded him about our food. We had to rush to eat our meal to make it out to our Broadway plans which we ended up being late for. By the time it got to the check, he threw it onto our table and turned around. Meanwhile we saw that he was very kind to other tables, giving them roses at the end with their check and pleasant interactions. I attended a Funeral Luncheon at this restaurant. Place has clearly seen better days, was not terribly clean not one bit. The food was beyond disgusting. The bread was some weird hard bread. I thought I'd need to see my dentist afterwards. The pasta was a Ziti and was the consistency of rubber, the sauce was some strange red type sauce. It was vile. The salad was limp and skimpy only greens nothing to make it a salad. Had to ask for additional dressing as it seemed like none was on the salad. The Chicken Franchese was flavorless. No lemon or wine taste at all. The cutlet was stringy and clearly sat on a steam table for hours and hours. The roast tiny potato was hard and not finished cooking. The vegetables were a frozen medely. The dessert was supposed to be tirimisu ... the paper thin slice I got was good but skimpy. The coffee was old and clearly not fresh. No offer of cocktails, which I understand the family did not pay for, but not even a mention that it was available at the tacky bar on site. The food was just slapped down, very poor service. Sadly the cost was very expensive for such subpar food. Of course, nothing was said to the family. Who would have been mortified! Especially when there menu lists the cost at $45 per person. The family probably spent about 6 grand for this slop. Clearly this type of Funeral Luncheon is a big big money maker for the owner of this terrible place. Chosen more than likely as the cemetery was across the street. Parking was very difficult to find in this residential area. Go elsewhere to honor your family member not this horrible place. The appetizers were just okay. We had ordered baked clams and octopus. I've had better but they weren't entirely horrible. I had the lamb chops which were chewy, under-salted and had no char. The mash potatoes were definitely mash potatoes from a box which I do not prefer. We were seated in the outdoor patio area which was cute. It seemed as if they had outdoor heaters. Bartender was all smiles and great attention to service; no complaints at all! We had reservations, so we sat down at a big round table, to the left of the entertainer for the night, who was killing it on the keyboard, and vocals; a total one-man show 100%. The menu has a HUGE variety of options at very fair prices. Make sure to not jump the gun and listen to the specials first. Hubby and I opted for their evening pasta special, which was the seafood pasta with lobster tail, shrimp, on a bed of linguine with crushed walnuts, in a light white wine sauce. Be still, my heart! I never got around to writing a review in the past, but just note that my family has been coming to Villa Erasmo for years for a variety of occasions. We have never had a bad experience -- until tonight that is. Makes sense because we were informed it's under new ownership now. The food tasted amazing as usual, so no complaints there. But the wait staff and service? Disastrous. Our party made reservations weeks in advance, but it literally seemed like they forgot about us. We were put at a table right next to the kitchen door and a barricade that divided up the room. There were two large parties in the restaurant, so it was clear we weren't the priority. Incredibly loud in there too; I could barely hear the person next to me when they were speaking. Immediate red flag was when we ordered drinks and most of us at the table split a pitcher of sangria. My friend didn't want sangria and ordered a soda instead. Her soda was forgotten. We tried to get our waiter's attention multiple times; either he ignored us or it was just too loud to hear us calling him. We waited a while for someone to come take our order. We placed our appetizers and had the feeling that we had to order our dinners then too, since we knew we weren't the priority. It was so rushed and patrons at a restaurant should not feel that way. It took at the very least a half hour for our appetizers to come. We were starving. When they did come, no one checked up on us to ask if everything was okay, if our appetizers tasted good, nothing. Finally, our food came -- everyone else's did, that is. I sat at least five minutes with no food while everyone else had theirs. Then we ordered dessert; we ordered coffee and some cakes to split amongst the table. To our dismay, they brought out the cakes first and no coffee. We finished our cake and then they brought out the coffees ... pretty backwards and anti climactic if you ask me. Then we literally had to get up and ASK for the check because no one cared to ask if we were all set and bring it. Ridiculous. We were at the restaurant for longer than we needed to be because the service was so slow. Our backs started to hurt because we were just sitting in the same position on very uncomfortable chairs for hours. All in all, I'm very disappointed because Villa Erasmo is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area, in my opinion. Now, I'm not so sure how fast I'll be returning and recommending. It's a shame that fantastic food is being ruined by such terrible service. Tell your wait staff to stop drinking on the job if it's going to impact their performance. read more

We were 22 people with a fixed menu at $75 a person. The bill came to $140 a person. The appetizer was 2 clams, one small eggplant rollatini, and 1 shrimp the size of my pinky. Next was a very small rigatoni dish. Next was a salad that was so flat you couldn't get it on the fork. Main was choice between steak, chicken and salmon. 2 pieces of chicken that was about 1/4 inch thick, and very tuff. Whoever ordered the salmon had different size pieces. The steak looked ok. For desert was tiramisu the size of a lady finger cookie. I ordered a double expresso and there was no more than a teaspoon of coffee in the cup. As far as drinks go, some ordered a beer, others wine and a few sodas. The owner should be ashamed of themselves! Biggest rip off of all the restaurant I have ever dined at. Screw you Villa Erasmo!!! Last night I attended an office Christmas party at Villa Erasmo in Middle Village . We were a group of 30 people - including a few children. Everything was just perfect. We were in the rear private room which was a great spot for the little ones to be up moving around. The food was delicious and the drinks were too. Renu, our waitress was on top of all our needs and everything came out quickly, thanks to other staff members who never stopped . Villa Erasmo is a convenient restaurant to dine at if you live in the Maspeth, Middle Village area. The menu is pretty standard for Italian food. I enjoyed the live music. It wasn't too loud and it definitely provides that old school Italian restaurant feel to it. My wife ordered the penne Madeira for her main course and I ordered the veal scallopine with shrimp and marinara sauce. We had to wait about an hour for the food which was a downer, but enjoyed the meal when It finally arrived. I had to ask for a dinner knife after my entree was already on the table. The Parmesan cheese was not grated in front of you but offered in a tiny tin can which I felt was odd. Overall, the price is affortable and the food was above standard. I had high expectations since we had done prior family events here. Unfortunately the latest event I hosted here was an embarrassment. Their private room did not accommodate our guests despite being told our list was within range. (We had 55 people and the space was SO tight.) My event was the first hot day of the year of course. They left us with no AC. Just loud fans blowing hot air around. We were supposed to have a private bathroom but the fans blocked it so guests had to use the others outside the room. Since they were too cheap to put the AC on, someone in the main room fainted and passed out. They had no defibrillator machine on hand and left guests to try to revive this customer. It was disgusting. The servers were not attentive and didn't even tell our guests the full menu we selected ( we opted for the menu with steak and they were not telling our guests all their choices even thought we paid for all this!) This place wasn't what I had hoped it be. I was embarrassed hosting my event here. read more
