The service is absolutely excellent by Daniele .Also all the other my favorite bartenders, Nico and Antonio are doing absolutely fabulous job! The food wise my favorite is crab cakes w/mustard mayo The ambiance of the restaurant is rustic, comforting lighting, cozy and welcoming.

It's been a decade since SoleLuna came roaring into the Sunnyside dining scene, helping the neighborhood graduate from its NY Italian options (#1) into something more akin to the real deal. After taking over an old diner space (#2), it remains a destination for some and a consummate neighborhood fixture for most. Sitting on the northwest corner of 40th and Queens Boulevard, it faces the 40th St subway stop on the 7. The interior was once memorable for being exceptionally narrow, but it's been balanced out by the growing outdoor table presence perfect for al fresco dining. The new facelift from last year has brightened up the space and modernized the look. There are a lot of highlights on the food front, which starts with their homemade pasta. The ragu pappardelle, wild boar, and lasagna bolognese are as good as advertised, as is the gnocchi, fagottini, ravioli, and cacio e pepe. Any of their pasta specials are worth a look and no place in the neighborhood comes close. The non-pasta options have proven to be just as popular. The pan seared chicken in lemon sauce (pollo al limone) and the pan seared wild salmon (salmone alle erbe) are quality choices. The polpette meatballs are a bit on the saltier side, as is the arancini del giorno and the extremely tasty beef carpaccio. Portions are modest and coupled with the high prices, make the place feel a tinge more premium than most other places in the area. Service is usually good and the night time vibe is lovely. SoleLuna has earned the distinction as one of Sunnyside's most distinct establishments. ___________ (#1) *Eye*Talian (#2) https://www.yelp.com/biz/new-post-coffee-shop-sunnyside

We wanted to check out one of the highest rated joints in Sunnyside, and SoleLuna is a Yelp fave. But...we were very underwhelmed! The place is fine, but only one dish stood out: the signature ravioli stuffed with pear and ricotta. That dish was amazing, with nuanced flavor and a cool yellow orange color that pops out. The rest of the food was meh, nothing special. The mocktail was very good so this might be good for brunch or after work light bites. But for the price ($20-30 per entree) you can do MUCH better. The server was decent but he didn't come by very much and the place was not that crowded. The decor is nice, semi-rustic with wood tables and European accents like Italian food cans and signs. Overall, very average Italian food for queens. We didn't dislike anything, but we left unsatisfied. Food: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 3/5

Delicious and fresh. I tried the pesto and cacio e Pepe and fresh mozzarella with tomato very good. Staff were attentive and spoke Italian very cozy place to enjoy a drink or meal. Bus and 7 train are close by. Will revisit

solid italian food but definitely a bit fancier, pricier, and smaller portions. seems like this place has been around for a long while and draws a lot of older regulars. i got the fagottini alla valerio which was tasty and unique but had some surprisingly hard pieces inside. service and ambience are nice.

Came here with my family on a Saturday night- it was busy and we didn't have a reservation but we were still able to get seated immediately. Service was quick and attentive, and the food was really solid- we really enjoyed the Pappardelle al Funghi, Lasagna, and the Branzino. Overall, love that there's an option close by for good quality Italian food in a relaxed, down-to-earth setting!

Skip the stuffed ricotta squash blossoms. It came out soggy and the only flavor was the ricotta. For mains, I highly recommend the pear ravioli. It was sweet and salty and served in a buttery sauce. The gnocchi is also a skip for me. It came with melted shredded american cheese? on top and made it too salty. There was also very little truffle flavor.

SoleLuna made for a great family dinner, and there wasn't a wait even tho we didn't have a reservation on a Saturday evening which was a win. We loved their mushroom pasta (pappardelle ai funghi). The lasagna was good and a heavy portion - generous on the meat (bolognese), but almost too much so (high meat to pasta ratio). If you're a meat lover tho this is a must-order! The chitarra al pomodoro was good, a classic thin pasta with tomato sauce. The service was nice and let us get a refill on the complimentary bread which was nice to eat with the meatball sauce (gotta make that $12.50-for-4-meatballs dish worth it). The four of us ate family style for the pastas and the Branzino. The branzino and the mushroom pasta were the winners of the night.

Last Sunday my bestie took me out to our neighborhood restaurant to celebrate. We were greeted by the manager and sat at the table for four since my friend is a semi regular and he knew she always samples half the menu at a time. It was a warm day so the outside extension of the restaurant was open. The tables are covered by a tent like structure so no cold air can penetrate, but the setting sun gave a greenhouse effect which made the atmosphere perfect. The inside of the restaurant is small but has a decent bar and reasonably spaced out tables. The manager and our server were super friendly and cracked jokes with us at times including the whole room. The service was quick and servers were considerate. One couple who came in after us actually left before us. The staff made sure everyone was having a good time - which created a more relaxed environment than in other restaurants. The food is phenomenal. We ordered the soup of the day - which was squash; Granchio (crab cakes); Fagottini Alla Valero (ravioli style pasta with pear and cheese - my absolute favorite dish there); pappardelle ai funghi (past with mushroom sauce); and other things. Then for dessert my friend had Tiramisu and espressp and I had pana cotta dressed with berries. We also had two drinks each! We spent about $150 total before tax and tip. Dishes are $12-$23 each. We were so busy enjoying the food - we actually forgot to take pictures of our pasta! I have been there at least twice in the last year and I can say the quality of food and service is consistent. We always have a good time there. If you are looking for an Italian restaurant - I highly recommend trying this spot. Seriously run don't walk!!

BEST pasta I have had in NYC! This place is no frills but all the food is absolutely delicious. We also had some cocktails that were delicious. You also get complimentary bread that you can have refilled. Only downside is that this place is a tad expensive, but the food is worth it. I can't wait to come back. The pear pasta is to die for.

Sunday lunch. Walked in and sat at the bar. 89 degrees temp outside and I was served room temp water. Had to ask for ice. Staff was casual and frivolous about service or any attention. Bruschetta came out in1 minute and so did my salad Sole, as if were sitting for long in kitchen. Salad was served in a bowl that was chipped in two places. Not even mixed/ tossed, just dumped the ingredients on top of each other. Unappetizing. I showed it to server. Both bartender and server didn't much care. Nobody even asked for any drink. Service on Monday on the other hand by Chelsea and Nico was friendly, attentive and made my luncheon a special one. Today lacked everything. Zero attention. Staff were just kinda fooling around. I still doubled the tips. Done! No more visiting this place...

My daughter in law had a birthday this week, so we met up with them on a shopping trip to Sunnyside. They suggested Soleluna as a longtime favorite spot. We don't often eat Italian, but this turned out to be something special. Lunchtime here was filled with people quietly eating some seriously good food. My wife got a very meaty crab cake plate after we all shared a marvelous board of cheeses and shaved meats. My pesto pasta was delicious and very generous. The service was attentive and pleasant, if a bit European when we were finishing up. Otherwise it was a perfact gathering.

They have a giant menu posted on the wall to peruse. When we approached the counter to order, the person manning the register basically ignored us. When she finally acknowledged us to place our order, the interaction was taciturn and curt - no niceties. I ordered the single order pan-fried pancake ($8, but closer to $11 after tax). The menu states a choice between beef, pork, and chicken, but we were only given the choice between beef and chicken. The cashier also gave us a choice between spicy potato or pork floss (I opted for the pork floss), which was not denoted in the menu description. The menu does say it comes with veg, but what they really mean is lettuce/salad. The menu picture online is also misleading because it says it comes with an egg, and displays both a soft-boiled egg and beautiful runny egg cascading over the pancake. Instead, the only egg that was served was one overcooked fried egg (not runny at all!), and it was cold (but more on that later). The quoted wait time for the food was 20 minutes. There's a little station near the counter to grab napkins, silverware, and water. Around 9:30am on a Friday, several tables were filled, but no one had any food (the cafe opened at 9am, so I suppose the kitchen was still ramping up). My friends and I ordered variations of the same dish (the pan-fried pancake), but the dishes were served in reverse order - the person who ordered last got their dish first and vice versa. When one order is more complex than another, it's understandable when the easier/quicker one is served first. Since we all ordered nearly the same dish, this was not the case. The way things were being expedited was not efficient. When they finally called my name, I was excited to dig in, but the dish was cold! The beef was cold, the pancake was cold, the egg was cold and overcooked... I had half a mind to send it back. I'm guessing my order was ready earlier, but it must've sat there because someone forgot about it. Now technically, there are cold elements in the dish, if you count the lettuce and dressing, but there's no reason why the pancake, egg, and beef were all cold... they weren't warm, they didn't retain any heat, they were cold. They were also skimpy on the beef. The only redeeming qualities of the dish were that, fortunately, the pancake was still crispy, albeit cold and greasy, and the pork floss is a delicacy that gave the pancake a little extra oomph of flavor and texture. My friend ordered the Wake Up Combo ($14), which is the pan-fried pancake served with a soy milk and tea egg. Similar to my own egg experience, the tea egg was disappointingly overcooked (think hard-boiled) and not jammy like the picture at all. We all have bad days, so maybe Morning Brunch & Cafe was having one... but this is a skip for me.

The prices were bad here but the service and the food weren't great. When we arrived, we were scoping out the menu, they had it posted in a lot of places but it was kind of confusing. I did like how you could scan a QR code and when you clicked on an item, it was more descriptive of the add-on options or potential meat options. There are approximately 10-13 seats, so not great for a massive party, but good for a small outing or for take out. I saw a decent amount of delivery people come in to do pick ups. My friends and I were ordering and were curtly treated by one of the employees. I ordered the fried vegetable pancake with them since you couldn't order the QR code on the tables. She told me the options of only beef and chicken. I thought pork would've been an option and then she mumbled about the options for the additional topping. I couldn't understand her when she said pork floss, so I ordered spicy potatoes. The food also came out kind of sad and was slow to come out. The order was all wrong as I ordered last and then was delivered my dish first. It was kind of sad because I didn't even realize you should be able to pick up the pancake. It was hard to eat because it kept crumbling apart due to the pan fried falky pancake was a thin layer what just felt like crust. I was imagining more like a scallion pancake with vegetables infused or stuffed in. It also came out cold, and could have used a bit more flavor like a sauce or soy sauce. The spicy potatoe tasted a little undercooked as well. My friend ordered hers with pork floss instead and that tasted a little better. The dish also came with a supposed to be overeasy egg that is supposed to be runny, but was a bit overcooked.
