My favorite restaurant of all time. I would love to gate keep lol but I can't. From beginning to end it's always great. My little hidden gem in the my hometown of Queens. Bread basket is unmatched. My go to is the hot anti pasta , linguine white clam, shrimp cocktail, artichoke and lemon sorbet. Biscotti on the house for meeeeee. See ya next time !

Don't have a picture to show for it, but that was the Best chocolate chip pancake I've ever had! Nice staff and cute little diner.

Came here for a friend's birthday. We ordered grilled octopus and clams for appetizers Grilled octopus was solid and so were the clams For entrees, we ordered spinach ravioli, veal Parmesan, lobster risotto, shrimp scampi with pasta, and rigatoni with lamb ragu. Top dishes that stood out were the spinach ravioli, lobster risotto, veal parm. Least favorite was probably the rigatoni with lamb ragu because the mint was unexpected and did not really go well with the dish. Our only issue with the spinach ravioli was there wasn't more of them. They were easily the best dish here. Lobster risotto was sooo good too. Overall, I would come back here. This place gives the classic italian restaurant experience. Very professional service. Solid food

Delicious food & cocktails, great service & valet parking (which is much needed in Corona). Dined on a Monday night and it was packed, the restaurant is huge, 3 levels. My party requested the second floor which is the small, sleek & beautiful Marilyn Monroe room. Downstairs is divided into 2 section, classic Italian room and a garden room. There is a large bar area off to the side. Party of 3, everything we ordered was good, and enough to share. Complimentary antipasto & bread basket on arrival For starters we went with the baked clams and the lump crab cocktail. For entree I had the shrimp fra diavlo which is my go to dish and it did not disappoint, jumbo shrimp served over a bed of pasta in a perfectly spiced red sauce. Espresso martini was well made and the tiramisu for dessert is a must, the perfect balance of mascarpone and lady fingers! Great spot for any occasion and any size group.

I have been dying to try this place for the longest. I have gotten a gift card but never been able to use it. We decided to throw our friend a surprise engagement party here for a girls dinner only. When you look at the restaurant from the outside, it looks like it will be a regular restaurant it once you step inside, it's quite beautiful. Has a very elegant atmosphere with nice backgrounds to take pictures. We ordered two bottles of white wine which paired so well with my white clam linguini. My dish was so large and there was plenty to take home. It was filled with clams and the pasta was al dente just like I like it. We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer which was a great way to start the meal. The service was really great, the waiter was attentive and made sure we were good the whole time. For dessert we shared the tiramisu which was sweet and creamy. I will definitely be returning to enjoy a meal with my family.

Old school Italian at its best! They start you off with an INCREDIBLE bread basket , everything in it is amazing. I chose the Calamari - coated perfectly and not chewy at all - just perfect . For a started also trie the watermelon burrata salad - fresh and nicely presented . I felt like a simple staple so I ordered the Veal Cutlet Parmigiana . It was a perfect choice! The veal was so tender, thin and fried to perfection. The cheese was baked with a nice golden color. The cheese was also delicate. The al dente spaghetti for my side, had such a flavorful sauce. The dessert menu has something for everyone. I recommend the Pistachio tartufo. You will leave with a full belly and some food to take home. Service is GREAT! Valet parking is available. And for a quieter dinner there is a second floor option.

Park Side Restaurant is an Italian restaurant that opened in Queens, New York in 1980. It was founded by Anthony "Tough Tony" Federici. Located just down the street from Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, it was originally opened as the Corona Supper Club by Federici's parents in 1960. The menu specializes in southern Italian and Sicilian cuisine. Notable celebrity diners over the years include Johnny Depp and Robert De Niro. Federici passed away in 2022. My family and I recently visited Park Side Restaurant while we were in Queens for the day. We were visiting Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and heard that Park Side was a great lunch option. It is one of the last historic Italian-American restaurants that's still open in Brooklyn or Queens. The interior featured a glitzy dining room with a nice bar area. As we looked over the menu, the table was served a complimentary bread bowl. This was no ordinary bread bowl! It featured multiple varieties of delicious bread, including sesame seed semolina bread, olive rolls, herb-topped focaccia, and lard bread. For entrees, our two sons shared a large bowl of "Penne all Vodka", my wife had the "Shrimp Fra Diavolo" with a side House Salad, and I had the "Broiled Pork Chops" (with vinegar peppers) and a side of Penne Marinara. The service was a little slow during our visit, but the food more than made up for it because everything was fantastic! I ordered the pork chops because they were highly recommended. I had no regrets as they were so flavorful and the peppers were the icing on the cake. My wife loved her shrimp and both of our sons loved their pasta. Our meal ended with a complimentary plate of biscotti. We had a lot of bread left over and we had no shame for taking the rest home. Overall we had a nice experience at Park Side and we give them our seal of approval!

Ask the Community - Park Side Restaurant

    What time does dinner start?

There is only one menu, served all day. They are open from 12-10 everyday except Sunday, 1-10. You can have dinner anytime. Enjoy!!

Could I call them to ask for food to go? I don't have a big enough party to go with and would rather not sit alone in the restaurant.

    How is the parking?

Is there an updated price list for 2024?

    Most likely.

Is there an elevator in the restaurant?

No, I don't believe there is.

What if the nearest subway station to the restaurant and how far is the station to the restaurant?

The closet 7 train station is the 111th street stop , this is probably less than a 10 minute walk to the restaurant.

Has anyone used this for a private event? What was your experience? Were you given confirmation of your event?

I had my wedding lunch in the upstairs area, we called & made a reservation over the phone w no problems it was for a party of 15 people everything went well & ran smoothly.

Is there a bar with seats, where one may dine?

Yes, there is a bar at which you can enjoy your meal.

I seem to remember the bar was a kind of cop bar or a favorite of the guards at Rickers is that right?

I've been going to ParkSide for years & this has never been something I've noticed, the bar has alway just been for customers waiting for their tables never just a "hang out" bar.

    Is there a dress code?

No, there is not a dress code. Just make sure you're wearing looser fitting pants... you'll be eating a lot of delicious food!

I see white linens, are they toddler friendly? And do they have high chairs? Kids menu?

This is a lovely restaurant. If your toddler is well behaved it's likely fine. I love my grandchildren but know sitting is hard for them. So I would not subject other diners to them..

Are they have outdoor seating now?

    Yes they do.

Do they have gluten free pizza or pasta?

    They do not sell pizza.

Is there anything fun to do around the restaurant?

Yes , park and museum in walking distance . Warm weather, Bachi ball court across the street . Lemon ice king 1/2 block away . Good area in warm weather

    Do they have valet parking?

    Yes, free valet parking available

Does anyone know if they have gluten free options?

Yes they do. I have Celiac disease. I am not one of the people who say they do. I was able to eat there no problems.

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

Yes! Although the bathroom is downstairs, there's another bathroom next to the kitchen that they let my Mother-in-law go to (same first floor). She's not on a wheelchair but they offered that bathroom to her.

The outdoor seating is currently available during COVID-19 but with super limited 2 tables. The food options on the menu are various with photos but it was still difficult for us to make decisions without clear English description. We had Beef Tripe Stew ($12) and Bandeja Paisa ($16). The food was decent, especially the extremely tender beef tripe with creamy and soft potato. We didn't recommend the Bandeja Paisa, the pork steak was too dry and the pork belly was too greasy. Their pastries looked great with reasonable price but we didn't have a chance to them try this time. We will plan to have another visit for their brunch and pastries.

What has also always been true is that the service is extremely slow! I knew I was going to be there for two hours, so I chose carefully when I had time to dine-in. However, they recently went through a renovation to remove a wall that separated the bakery from the sit down restaurant in the back in order to expand their available seating and build a full bar. Things have gone so downhill since then. About the renovation itself, all of the chairs and tables don't match. They kept what they had before the renovation and added a few new tables and chairs that look really cheap and are so uncomfortable. The service is even worse, because not only is it slow but the servers are so rude!!! We didn't get the batido we ordered until halfway into our meal. The food has also gone down in quality, they must be buying cheaper meats and ingredients. The pollo guisado was all big pieces of bone, and the carne that came with my meal was the smallest I have ever been served here, I might as well have ordered mote pillo without the carne, I don't know what I paid extra for. The final straw that led to my one star review is during my recent dine-in for lunch just yesterday, I saw a $1 charge for the takeout box that they put the remaining food in that I didn't finish and planned to take home. I have never as a born and raised New Yorker encountered this in a restaurant where I paid for a full meal and then was nickel and dimed for a to go box. The server did not tell me this charge would be put on the bill either, and we surely told her that when she returned to collect the check, especially considering how many times we have eaten there and never been charged for this. It is a really shameful practice to put the cost of the renovation onto customers in this way. I would not recommend dining at an establishment that does not value customers at all by providing poor service, cheap food, and up charging clients.

The area itself is primarily Spanish and I couldn't determine if I had even been here before despite my being a New Yorker for almost all of my life. Soon enough the wander led us to the "Taste Of Italy" pizzeria that was located right near the Junction Boulevard stop on the "7" train. Though they had a decently sized menu with a number of proper offerings I opted for a slice of cheese pizza and another with pepperoni. A can of Sprite would help me to wash it down. I found the slices to be very tasty, filling and comparable to what I usually get in my own Brooklyn neighborhood and that made me happy because there are few things worse than terrible pizza. My colleague had a lesser experience with a chicken sandwich that she felt was on the greasy side but when she brought this up they gave her a couple of slices of pizza. I should have tasted it myself to confirm that said colleague had a legit complaint as opposed to just being fussy because that happens sometimes. Either way she was covered and it was nice that the place didn't give her a hard time. I found the staff there to be friendly which is always nice and yes there was a language barrier for me since I only speak English but honestly I feel that 90% of their clientele speaks Spanish and I am in the minority. This didn't get in the way of my ordering what I wanted and liked. In the rear of the business is a spacious dining area with about eight tables that each fit four patrons. It was warm, and that was welcome since the work we were doing was outside and it was quite cold that day. I didn't detect an open Wi-Fi but they did have a television running in the back playing Spanish language programming. I thanked everyone with a smile and the three Spanish words I actually know and off I went back to the gig. While I did enjoy myself I can't see myself returning since this was a one day assignment and I don't see myself in this region for anything any time soon. I did want to make sure that a Yelp was done since it was a good experience for me. If you should be shopping around this area, you've got a good place to eat and rest your bones.

That was enough for us to decide we will not be returning. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. The food has generally been good, which is why my family continued returning and recommending it to others. Our history with the restaurant has not been without issues. Years ago, we stopped coming after a Mother's Day incident involving my grandmother. We had been seated in the upstairs dining room (when it was still open), only to later be told by the owner that we did not have a reservation and that we had to leave. After several years, we decided to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and eventually started coming back again. Unfortunately, today confirmed that the earlier incident was not simply bad luck. I was dining with my parents. We ordered two steaks, two appetizers, three sides, a bottle of wine and later a second bottle (of which we only drank half), along with four after-dinner drinks, cappuccino, and dessert. It was clearly a very busy day, and service was slower than usual. Because of the restaurant's pace, our meal ended up lasting a little over three hours. We were patient the entire time and never complained. After we finished eating and were simply finishing our drinks, the owner, Marcelo, approached our table and remarked that we had been there for three hours and were now only drinking alcohol, indirectly suggesting that his establishment was not a bar but a place for dining. Considering that we had just spent several hundred dollars and have been customers for decades, the comment was unnecessary and unprofessional. We immediately asked for the check and left. For context, I am a physician and understand the pressures of demanding work environments. However, professionalism and respect toward customers should always come first. Over the years, my family has typically spent between $300 and $500 per visit here. Unfortunately, after this experience, this will be the last time we come. There are many excellent Argentinian and Uruguayan steakhouses where customers are treated with appreciation and respect, and that is where we will be going moving forward.
