This place is a true hidden gem! Tucked away in a beautiful location right on the water, it offers a fantastic setting whether you're dining inside or enjoying the views. The venue itself is lovely with a great ambiance. The service was genuinely friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Now, the food -- it did not disappoint. Everything we tried was terrific. The mussels in white wine were delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The rigatoni with short rib was rich, hearty, and absolutely yummy. But the standout for me was the chicken Tuscano -- it was phenomenal, packed with taste and cooked to perfection. The only downside is parking, which can be a bit of a hassle. Came on a Friday night with no reservation, took about 10 minutes to get seated so not too bad. Unfortunately got seated towards the back but anyone can walk on their pier before or after dining. Maurizio's is a cozy Italian neighborhood spot with great views and great pizza. Went here on a Friday night and it was busy! They served bread and olive oil for the table. We got a drunken Margherita pizza to share which was the best dish of the evening. The combination of the vodka sauce, mozzarella and basil were delicious. The crust was soft, but the base of the pizza was just crisp enough so it wasn't a floppy slice. Highly recommend. I got a tagliatelle fungi which had mushrooms, garlic and shallots in a cream sauce with truffle oil. It was a large portion which was nice. Overall, the pasta was ok-good. There was a lot of oil on top of the pasta (not sure if it was the truffle or olive oil), but it stuck well to the pasta to the point that the pasta wasn't really absorbing the cream sauce since it was oil slicked. We got a creme brulee for dessert, and it was yummy! Get a window seat for the views, get the pizza, and if the weather's good in summer time, they have a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy. We did have great service in this experience, but the entrees did take awhile to come out. Overall the food was ~3.5 stars (with exception of the pizza being 4.5 stars). read more

Why are we all sleeping on Whitestone, you all?I know it's pretty North, but it really has some awesome places, including Maurizio's. My friend, Laura, suggested we go here thinking it would be nicer and we could sit outside, but even though it's still gloomy this time of year it didn't damper our dinner. We did take a peek outside to check out the view for when we come back in the summer, and it was still stunning. Now the food! We started with Baked Clams and the pear salad. The baked clams were AMAZING. Whole clams, and just the right amount of lemon to taste made this dish amazing. The pear salad was perfection. For the main course we opted for the mushroom pizza, and the Chicken Sorrentino. Usually I feel like a Chicken Sorrentino is in a Marsala sauce but this time it was in a marinara sauce. Almost like a cacciatore. I wasn't mad about it. We would have liked dessert but we had way too much food. But it won't be the last time we come back. 4.5 I think this place is a hidden gem, and I plan on coming back. I came here for a small celebration with my wife, and we were not disappointed. It's tucked away at the end of 154th Street and Powells Cove Boulevard in Beechhurst, right near the Whitestone Plaza (where CVS and North Shore Farms are located). The place is nice -- you walk in and there's a small bar area with the dining area to the right. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. As for the food, it also didn't disappoint. We started with the Baked Clams Oreganata, Rigatoni alla Maurizio, Seafood Fra Diavolo, and Sauteed Broccoli Rabe. Everything was on point. Maybe the broccoli could've used a bit more seasoning, but still, it was very good. We were fortunate to catch a warm, sunny day in October and wanted to dine outdoors. Maurizio's has a deck that extends out over the water and it was a spectacular spot for lunch! We also came back a few days later and ate inside. Beautiful space with lots of natural light. Very good bartender (Bourbon Sidecar was perfectly mixed, and the margaritas refreshing and tasty). Their pasta are very fresh We enjoyed penne alla vodka (added chicken), rigatoni scampi with shrimp (added crumbled sausage -you have option to add several proteins to their pastas), tagliatelle bolognese, and margarita pizza with peppers. Each dish was served hot and fresh, and all were delicious. Their pistachio ice cream and Italian cheesecake are great ways to end the meal. Definitely a place we'll return to, especially when warmer weather comes back! read more

My first time here and I came across it by accident. Couldn't make reservation (1- they weren't accepting and 2- phone line wasn't working) but they just opened less than a month ago. But knowing that the food was good. I want to say 95% of the staff was super friendly and polite. Had one or two of the runners that seemed impatient or English wasn't their first language and seemed to say things that came out pretty rude. But I wasn't going to write them off for that. My server Jules and the owner made up for it though. They were attentive and kept apologizing for wait times, mixed up orders but was consistently checking to see how we were doing. The atmosphere overall was peaceful and enjoyable. Will definitely return and recommend. Please give them a chance as they are just getting their ducks together. Found out about this place through my Family who lives in Whitestone...and I'm glad we did. We were fortunate enough to go on a beautiful-late September evening. We were seated outside...overlooking the water, with views of the Bridge in the distance. The joint is sorta tucked away...but you'll know it when ya see it. A great selection of appetizers...too many to mention! The grilled octopus was excellent! As well as the fried zucchini. We were a party of 6...so the entrees were all different. But...the food was all delicious and plentiful! Enjoyed it very much. The waiters were fast and attentive and did a good job. Of course the desserts and coffee afterwards were good. The only thing that was a bit awkward was the parking. They have a narrow parking lot...so you have to be able to maneuver well. Other then that...the place is super nice and I recommend it. Never had a bad meal - Excellent chef...Pizzas, calamari, salads, chicken and fish are all my favs while husband also loves the steak. Top off with dessert and total happiness. I really like the atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. I've been here a few times now and the food has been very good every time. The home made warm bread is excellent. The service may need a little work but the restaurant is brand new and working out a few kinks.. I realize it's pricey and everyone expects the best when paying for an expensive meal but I think they will perfect the service. Finding the right waitstaff isn't easy and takes time. I will start off by saying the ambiance is appealing, it's a newer establishment which overlooks the Whitestone and Throgs Neck bridges. However, while the food is alright, for the price I've certainly had better Seafood/Italian. This place definitely gives off some sketchy and shady vibes, the parking situation is just bizarre, I felt like I was in a back alley, the management team don't come off as being professional at all, and the wait staff didn't come off as being the most authentic. At the end of the day, the guy at my local Greek diner, local Indian restaurant, local pizza parlor, heck, even my local Halal truck guy, come off as being more genuine and interpersonal, they aren't a bunch of phonies, and at least they seem to value my hard-earned money. read more

Great location, nice decor. Ridiculously expensive food for a neighborhood place. If I'm going to pay those prices, I'm going to Manhattan or a place with a great view in LIC. People are financially sound in Whitestone. Many are in the top five percent in net worth but arent there because they are stupid with their money. There aren't any trust funds kids in Whitestone. We work hard for our success and aren't going to pay retarded prices for a neighborhood joint. Inca Paisa and Villagio offer great food, great drinks, great ambiance, but atbreasonable prices! This place needs to offer an extended happy hour better pricing!!! read more

Our first time at the restaurant. We live locally. We heard from friends who had gone that the food is good but that the service and dining room management is awful. We went with an open mind but sorry to say that what we experienced is exactly what we heard. Very bad, inattentive service. First, we made a reservation over the phone and asked for a table outside. The person who took our reservation said we would be accommodated. When we got to the restaurant we were told that there weren't any tables available outside. We asked how long the wait would be and was told 1.5 to 2 hours. At that point we decided to sit inside. But 15 minutes later a table became available outside and another party was seated. If we had been told that a table would be available so quickly we surely would've waited for it. It really showed a complete lack of awareness and care for the customer on the part of the ownership. We should've never been told that the wait would be two hours when in fact it was 15 minutes. Second, we waited 35 minutes for our appetizers and they were cold. More than likely the waitress forgot to bring them when they were ready. Also, three other nearby tables that ordered their appetizers after us got them before us. We then ordered our main courses. 40 minutes later, while we were still waiting for our entrees to be served, our waitress who took our dinner order came over to the table and asked if we were ready to order dessert. She was completely oblivious to the fact that we still hadn't been served our entrees. By her reaction it was obvious that she never put the order in for our entrees. After another 10 minutes we asked to have the entree order cancelled. We then ordered dessert. 20 minutes later still no desserts. After speaking with the owner and waitress we finally got our dessert. It took 30 minutes to get a piece of cheesecake and a tiramisu. Two items that are obviously not made to order and should never take that long to serve. There were other service issues. I ordered a soda, never got it and had to order it a second time. Empty beer bottles and drink glasses, some dirty plates and the bread basket were left on the table right through dessert. We had to finally ask the busboy to clear the table when dessert came. By the end of the meal we just wanted to get out of the restaurant. After we paid our bill the owner awkwardly came chasing after us outside of the restaurant along with the waitress demanding to know why we were unhappy. He made us and the friends we were with uncomfortable. He said he wanted to know our names so he can make it right the next time we come back. He should've tried to make it right when we complained inside the restaurant and before we paid our bill. Very weird. Bottom line...the high prices surely don't match the terrible service. I really wanted to like this place. Was so excited to have a new local option as my go to place for drinks and dinner. Unfortunately I can never imagine wasting another dime here. I gave it 3 tries cause I know it's new and it takes time to work out the kinks but each time I've gone there it got worse 1st time food was really good but service was not good. Waiter kept disappearing. Acting totally sketch. Owner very apologetic so decided to give it another try cause food was good 2nd time food was eh at best. Calamari was good, tasted fresh just not seasoned at all. Seafood pasta was GROSS. Some of seafood was chewy/rubbery and flavor was sickening! For the prices charged none of the ingredients should taste like it came from a can or frozen and overcooked! Service was hands down worst service ever experienced in any restaraunt ever - even White Castle! Drinks were also terrible. Owner was very nice, apologetic for the poor service and explained they were trying out a new bartender and took the drinks off our bill. So we decided we would give it one more try. 3rd try thought service could get any worse - boy we were wrong. Literally had to seat ourselves. No one in front for over 10 mins. Poor bartender apologized and told us to sit wherever we wanted and he would find someone to serve us??Had the strangest, most unprofessional, chaotic waiter. He was all over the place. Talking to himself, brought wrong orders to our table then kept blaming kitchen saying kitchen can't handle all the orders and that he told owner has to do family style cause kitchen people can't handle the work. What does that have to do with him bringing wrong food? Guy was nuts. Ordered the pasta with sausage. Sausage was gross looking and tasted strange. Literally looked like crumbled slimy dog food. When we got the check there were food items on bill that weren't ours and no drinks on bill. We told him it wasn't our check and he insisted it was!! Then he went back came back with a new check but 1/2 our ordered items weren't on it and again none of the drinks. And we again told him it was wrong and he said "don't worry about what's missing". The guy clearly had no idea what he was doing. Busboys were RUDE. One came over to clean up table and threw crumbs on floor and all over my shoes. Like WTH never have I seen a busboy clean table by throwing crumbs on floor!! Owner was running around yelling at staff. Bar crowd was super sketchy. Def not a good vibe Bottom line really bummed this place doesn't deliver in the food or service department. Could've been cool summer hang out. Food menu options are not good. Ingredient quality sucks. No light summer menu choices to just pick on. Food presentation sucks and nothing is seasoned. Best things on menu are the pizzas, the caesar and the avocado salad and the burrata. Drinks are hit or miss. Service is consistently terrible. Bar scene is creepy. Management is non existent or worse has no clue what they are doing. Only way would try again would be if it was under new management with new staff because current management can't seem to get it together. Had dinner and drinks at Maurizio's this past Sunday. Can't say enough good things about this hidden joy on the water in Whitestone. We were greeted warmly by several people and seated at a beautiful table inside in the air conditioning, as it was a scorching summer evening. We ordered wine, appetizers, dinner and dessert & coffee, and there was NO food left on our plates. The servings were huge and delicious. The braised ribs with mashed potatoes were melt in your mouth fabulous. The meat fell off the bone, so no need for a knife. Waitstaff was very attentive and accommodating. We stayed for drinks at the bar after dinner, and went outside on the waterfront terrace to take some pics with the sunset and the bridge. My only regret was that not all of the seats at the tables inside have a water view, so I wished we had waited for a table nearer to the water. Overall, an A+ experience. Very glad that this location in Whitestone is being put to such a gorgeous and delicious use. read more
