I was in Toronto for business and my local friends picked this restaurant for our meetup. It was a wonderful experience. The food was great, authentic albeit a bit pricey. Service was attentive and we did not felt rushed at all. The ambiance felt sophisticated.

Rosé Gnocchi, Chicken Parmesan

Pricey for what it is, but a decent place! Food was pretty tasty, would rate all of the dishes 4/5. My favourite from the fixed menu was the chicken Parmesan and the Rosé gnocchi. Atmosphere: 4/5 classy vibe but a little too loud, so couldn't really mingle properly. Service: 4.5/5 kind waiters and waitresses!

Great food and service. Went on a Saturday night, very lively with good music. Would definitely recommend.

When I pick where to eat, I usually have no interest in going to Italian restaurants. I'm a strong believer most Italian food, especially pastas, can be made at home. That's why when I find myself at Italian places, I usually go with pizza or an entree other than pasta. My sister, on the other hand, LOVES pasta. So when I forwarded her an Instagram pic of the gnocchi Cacio e Pepe and said it looked good, she did not waste time making us a reservation. When I first got there and sat down, I noticed how attentive the wait staff was. They immediately ran over and asked if I wanted flat or sparkling water. When I said tap was fine, I was told they only have bottled water. To be honest that was a red flag for me but oh well. I got sparkling and anytime I took a drink, someone rushed over to top off my glass, so I finished the bottle at least. My sister knew I was getting the gnocchi Cacio e Pepe but wanted to get the Arancini Cacio e Pepe to start. Honestly, having tried both, the Arancini was better. More flavourful and heavy on the pepper like a Cacio e Pepe should be. My gnocchi I actually found slightly bland in comparison. The mac n cheese tasted like rose. The food was alright but I was disappointed and the cost was high. It's a pretty place with crazy attentive service but for me, this wasn't worth the price. If someone likes Italian food it may be more worthwhile but id forgo the gnocchi in favour of the Arancini.

We just went for after dinner coffees and dessert and sat at the bar instead of a tables Place was fairly busy and loud but we were a little sheltered from the noise by sitting at the bar. Iced coffee and cappuccino were both well prepared and our desserts were beautifully displayed and tasted yummy. Our bartender was a delite and would chat to us while she was crafting drinks

Dined here for a Saturday night dinner and the food was phenomenal! We were greeted with a smile immediately by the manager/supervisor and they took care of us pretty much the entire night. They were fantastic! The interior was beautiful and seating was comfortable. There was a DJ around 8/9pm so it does get busier which is great if this is your first stop before going out. Our table of 4 ordered calamari, burrata pizza, fungi fettuccine , and Mac & cheese. The portions were great and it was a good amount for us. The Mac & cheese was the table favourite - very rich and creamy. Highly recommend for a fun and lively night!

Went to Moretti Tuesday evening just before 6pm with 2 friends. Got seated close to the windows as there were plenty of seats available. Someone came by to ask if we wanted to order a drink and that our server will be starting in about 4 minutes and will come do the rest. The server was over 5 minutes late and we had to flag over a server. There was no music playing and when it was turned on it kept going on and off... We ordered the fried seafood appetizer, the Mac and Cheese pasta with truffle paste and the mushroom fettuccine. The fried seafood platter was good but I've had better. The pasta for the Mac and Cheese was a little too al dente for us and the fettuccine was good but needed a bit more mushroom flavour imo. Our server came into work after we got our food. I'm glad we didn't wait for her. I would come back if it wasn't for the bad service. There were at least 3 or 4 servers not doing anything so ...service could've been better.

This review is strictly about the breakfast experience. Surprisingly, Yelp lists restaurant as closed during the morning hours. As guests of the SOHO hotel, we opted to breakfast in the main restaurant. I would advise the smaller cafe for your breakfast meal. The cafe staff were professional, competent, and pleasant and had a greater selection to chose from. As for the restaurant, while the waiter was a pleasant young man, he was working with limited resources. He's was definitely trying his best but, seemed a bit flustered. Several items on the menu, (an already limited menu), were nit available. For example, with only white and wheat bread options, they were out of white. We opted for the eggs, over easy, with fingerling potatoes, prosciutto cotto, and what read like a hornet level butter and jams assortment, (the selling point for us). Sadly, the eggs, (while nice quality), came over medium. The prosciutto was just cheap ham. Something I'd expect to find prepackaged on a grocery store shelf. I instructed the waiter to not send the chef over. I already knew he'd defend the quality of the ham and we were more interested in our leisure than a ham debate. But, he came anyway, and the conversation went as expected. Minutes of our day lost to needless debate over ham. Note: If the chef is coming to my table, please don't come over in baggy sweats. Very unprofessional and un-appetizing. But, it's the butter and jams that were the final insult. I'll let the picture speak for itself. Don't go here for breakfast. I would like to add the the late night bar seen is hopping!

A second location of a Montreal favourite inside the SoHo hotel. The decor is elegant, and the vibe is cool and upbeat for a Friday night. We reserved a spot for 7:30 on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. Service - excellent, waitress was attentive and nice; gave us suggestions and checked on us frequently. I would say this place is even over staffed to the point of being a bit distracting with how many people are walking around and touching each table. 1) parmigiana melanzane - eggplant Parmesan that is not greasy, it was absolutely delicious; I just wish there was more of it. 2) pizza Parma - unfortunately this came to our table lukewarm, it was still well made and tasty but we wish it had a bit more cheese and was hot. Under the prosciutto there wasn't much "fior de latte" as it states there should be on the menu 3) Mac and cheese - THIS IS A MUST! pasta was al dente, truffle flavour is on point, sauce is luscious and cheesy and creamy. I'm not sure why this is called Mac and cheese because it's a rose sauce, but either way it's absolutely delicious Taking off 1 star because they decided to seat a huge table of really noisy and obnoxious guests in the middle of the restaurant right behind us which was quite annoying. They were screaming and taking shots and banging into the back of their seats which was also the back of my seat. I couldn't even hear my partner or the server talk over their screaming which dampened the dining experience. Just a suggestion to probably plan seating a little better - you should anticipate that a group of 10+ is going to be loud and seat them away from the 2 top tables.

Amazing visit from start to finish. Group of 3, we decided to split multiple dishes so we can try most of the menu. Ordered: - Polpette Di Carne - Calabrese Pizza - Spaghetti Al Nero Di Seppia - Mac and Cheese - Bombolini alla Nutella Perfect amount of food to share. The Mac and Cheese was so rich in flavour, it was my favourite dish of the night. Everything worked out to be $60~ p/p. Steep dinner prices but the quality exceeded my expectations. Great service as well.

Recently visited Moretti. The ambience is really nice with a great vibe. The service is really good and they were very helpful, waitress helped us pick a nice bottle of wine. The food was really good, we tried a couple of their most recommended dishes. The portions were all just the right amount. Went there for a friends birthday celebration and we all really enjoyed :)

This place gets a solid 4.5/5 for its authentic southern Italian food and very friendly & attentive…read moreservice. It has a very homey, old-school Italian American restaurant ambience - the opposite of the stylish, hipster or touristy restaurant vibe. Apparently this restaurants gets a lot of regulars, and I could see why. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're transported back to the 1960s with the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, red chairs, old-style wax candles, brick walls, and a large black-and-white photo of an Italian family on the wall (perhaps the founder or owner's?). I could see this place being a movie set for films that need an old, classic Italian American restaurant as a setting. In addition to the décor, I love the 1960s music being played in the background. Size-wise, the inside of the restaurant isn't that big so it feels very cozy. It can get very busy and crowded after 5 pm, as most people seem to come here for dinner. We came during lunch hour and we were the only patrons there. The southern Italian touches are very apparent in most of their dishes - with heavy reliance on olive oil, tomato-based sauces (especially in the fish and seafood dishes), fresh seafood, herbs, peppers, and vegetables such as eggplant. This is in contrast to northern Italian cuisine that is characterized by rich, creamy dishes using butter, lard, and cheeses, and puts more emphasis on rice, polenta, and meat-heavy dishes (where as seafood is more prevalent in the south). Dishes that we tried: 1) Baccala (Pan-Seared Black Cod) - This was the BEST and my favourite dish here. The black cod had a crispy exterior and flaky interior, and came with roasted mini potatoes and mixed vegetables (zucchini, red bell pepper, Brussels sprouts, eggplant) roasted with garlic -- such a well-rounded and wholesome dish. The roasted mini potatoes were so flavourful, and the vegetables had a nice char. I asked for the puttanesca sauce on the side, as the fish was already flavourful on its own without the sauce. But the sauce was better than I expected - it contained actual whole chunks of cherry tomatoes and olives. 2) Steamed Mixed Fish & Seafood in Tomato Sauce - This dish wasn't on the website menu, but it was on the printed menu in the restaurant. It reminded me of cioppino (Italian-American mixed seafood stew with tomato sauce, herbs, and spices). It came presented as wrapped inside aluminum tin foil, which the server then opened in front of us on the table with steam coming out. The fish was salmon, and seafood consisted of mussels and shrimps. This dish was just alright. For almost $50, there wasn't much seafood. 3) Pizza Funghi - I liked the very thin and crispy crust, and the sliced roasted mushrooms as toppings, but I wasn't a fan of the "truffled honey" they added on top of the pizza. I didn't taste any truffle, and the honey made it very sweet. Not a fan of sweet pizza. 4) SIDES: Rapini, Brussels Sprouts, Mushrooms - They got bonus points for being able to customize the sides. They didn't have asparagus that day, so they substituted it for steamed Brussels sprouts with garlic instead - which was heavenly. The Brussels sprouts weren't overcooked at all, and they were generous with the garlic (anything with extra garlic gets extra thumbs up from me). The rapini came out chopped with a side of lemon wedge. Mushrooms weren't on the menu as a side, but we asked and they were able to make a simple side of just mushrooms. Overall the vegetables got 9/10. The chef was very friendly as he came out and talked to us. The server was extremely attentive. Great service overall.

Nice local Italian restaurant that is enjoyed by us locals as well as those who come down for shows…read moreat the St Lawrence ctr for the arts and the Meridian Hall as well as sports fan here for games. They have a great stock of wines and an impressive drink list that we don't get to enjoy as we can't handle drinks these days. We do enjoy the food and the friendly service immensely tho. Lots of options for shareable apps; excellent options on pizzas and pastas; and I am always impressed with their mains (as someone that has to limit carbs, options can be limited at some Italian restos). They are also understanding of reasonable diet requests. They have gluten-free options as well. It is more of a "quiet" restaurant in terms of the clientele chatter, at least for the times I was there, so I can hear the music they play ("oldies"!!!!)
