Chicken Parmigiana after I tore into it...
    Ray K.

We've been to Pizza Gram many times, but had not since Covid struck. While out shopping I suggested we stop there for dinner. They opened at 4:00 and we weren't the first to be there. We were seated and drinks came out quickly. We both decided to have the Chicken Parmigiana. Dinner came with a salad and bread. My all time favorite place to have Chicken Parmigiana is here and I wasn't disappointed. So many restaurants have changed since Covid, but Pizza Gram didn't fall one bit. Quantity & Quality were top notch as well as the service. I'm happy to say things haven't changed here at all!

    Best pizza ever.

Burgerrs, fries and pizza are the way to go here. The restaurant gets busy but takeout is very quick.

We walk into the place and they have a small pizza counter. The bar and restaurant are through the double doors to your left. I don't recall any type of seating at the pizza counter area. I think that's for pickup or if you want to stop in for a couple slices to go. I would imagine they do some slamming slices business during lunch. We walk into the bar area and four people are seated at the bar enjoying their pizzas. We were debating whether to wait to be seated or sit at the bar when the bartender/waitress asked if we were looking to be seated. Yes, we are. She asked if we had reservations. We did not, but she said that was fine. We were seated in the back which was pretty dimly lit. Ambiance. I usually gauge a pie's taste by a plain pie, but I saw they had cupped pepperoni so we had to order a pepperoni pie because I don't know of any other place near us that has cupped pepperoni. We also got the meatballs for an appetizer. For drinks, plain water. Extra water was brought to us in a bottle that was chilled... no ice. Very nice touch. More water that way. The water tasted really clean too. Special mention needs to go to the bartender/waitress who held down the fort all by herself maintaining the bar area and serving out the food to table customers as they were coming out. One group came after us and then another group of six were seated across from us. I don't know about the first group, but the group of six had reservations. We got the meatballs, which come with three as an appetizer. We each took one and my wife asked me, "So, what do you think?" I thought there were really good meatballs. A lot of times they're really dense and the meat tastes weird. These were soft, moist, and very flavorful. We even were eating the sauce out of the bowl afterwards. Really good sauce, full of tomato chunks, not sweet, and not acidy either. It was just perfectly tasty. The group of six with reservations, who got seated AFTER us, got their pizza first. I told my wife that it pays to have reservations. We were cool with that. We know for next time. We got our pie soon afterwards and had to take pictures. It did look really good. The pepperonis were about the size of nickels, perfectly cupped. The crust had the char that I always look for. This looked really promising. We both grabbed a slice, folded it and took a bite of heaven. The bottom crust is thin and crunchy. The sauce and cheese tasted fresh and not plasticky like some cheeses can be. The pepperonis added a nice flavor kick to everything else going on. I then went for the gold. My teeth sank into crust the crunch reverberating throughout my skull. Wow!!! This crust was light, airy, and crunchy. This pie was firing nitro on all cylinders!!! I was so blown away. Even my wife said, "I never saw you enjoy a pizza so much. It was like you were back in NYC." If that isn't an endorsement for Marisa's, I don't know what is. We took half the pie home because I wanted to same some for tomorrow's lunch. We finished the meal with a shared slice of NY Cheesecake. Not as creamy as NJ Diner cheesecake, but definitely hit the marks for a good NY Cheesecake. We left Marisa's with full stomachs and smiles on our faces. We'll be back.

There's a large dining room downstairs and one upstairs as well in addition to seating at their bar area. They also have a large outdoor patio. We were seated upstairs and our server greeted us immediately. We started with an order of their garlic knots, which were fantastic. I loved the red sauce too. They offer several different types of pizza: the New Haven Round, thin crust Grandma, Romo's Square and Gluten free. Once you decide on the style you want, you can then choose your own toppings or choose one of their specialty pizza offerings. Since my fiance lived in New Haven, we had to try their New Haven round pizza so we got the Queen Margherita as well as the Johnny Lawrence, which had sausage, cherry peppers, ricotta cheese and hot honey, in their Romo's Square 12 cut style. Both were delicious! Though there's nothing can compare to eating a New Haven pizza in New Haven, Anthony's pie does hit the spot. We thoroughly enjoyed both pizzas and we'll be back to try more things as well as enjoy their outdoor patio in the nice weather!

First off I'm not sure what food people in these reviews are eating, because in my experience the Italian mix sub was very bland, the bread was dry, and the meat looked pale and weird. That ambience of the place was nostalgic which is the reason why I gave it 3 stars and not 2. The woman helping me was friendly enough but made it a point to tell me how gas prices were fine at $4.10 per gallon as long as Trump was the president, which annoyed me because it gives an indication that details don't matter here. Given the taste of the $15 small sub I paid for it definitely tracks. Be your own critic, but for me it's the history of this place and not the food has people coming back. I won't be one of them.

Some notable changes I noticed during the most recent visit include a big flat screen TV and tables and chairs indoors. The freezer apparently was out of order, but I would have loved to get their tiramisu which is also one of the best I've ever had. Their sub always strikes the right balance in the dressing, bread, meats, and toppings. Toppings are consistently good quality, and you can customise your sub by asking staff what you do and don't want on it. I hope they stay healthy and busy for decades to come.

I wanted to try a representative sampling of their food, so I ordered a chicken parmigiana wedge, a large cheese pizza, and a 2 liter bottle of diet Coke. Out of the three items, the best part of the meal was - the diet Coke. (If you've tried getting Cocla Cola products from Albany restaurants and are a Coke fan, you understand this.) The pizza was pleasant, but decidedly average. The crust was not crisp, though reheating should help with that, which I shall find out with the leftovers. There was more crust than I normally like relative to the cheese, but it wasn't overly unbalanced. It was just a little too much on the crust side. The wedge, in conrast, had so much sauce I could not taste the chciken at all, and had trouble even finding the chicken on the sandwich. When I did, the chicken had minimal flavor. a good chicken parmiagiana should actually let you taste chicken with crisp breading, not soggy breding hidden in enough sauce to cause digestive distress. And yes, I did expereince digestive distress. I might buy their pizza again, but Albany's a decent size city, and there's lots of competition. But I won't be trying the wedge for quite a whle.

Also worth trying is the lamb over rice. Next time, I'd get it with extra sauce as it was a bit dry. However, I prefer this to Aria down the street - this doesn't have that flavor I dislike in the food from that other place that I've yet to figure out. I don't know if they have other options to add toppings, but maybe it's something to explore. It was just rice and lamb with a bit of green salad. Not other than advertised so no complaints there. The mozzerella sticks were good. Melba sauce was provided (as it should be everywhere in the universe). I'm torn on the eggplant parm dinner. It seemed like the eggplant rounds were cut up and mixed into the ziti or they were tender enough that they just disintegrated into the ziti. I'm certainly into having pasta with eggplant parm but also I want to control that ratio. This made it difficult to find and fork the eggplant amidst the ziti. It was also difficult to find eggplant pieces where the eggplant and breading were still unified. The eggplant was pretty good though. The calzone is not small. It was a bit light on ricotta compared to other calzones but there was no lack of cheese overall. It was more of a folded over white pizza than a calzone. That is, I expected it to be a puffy pocket but it was a flat semi circle with big slits on top. Not bad. Maybe I'd be in the mood for that style of calzone again in the future. I'd skip the buffalo chicken wrap next time. It was relatively dry, not spicy, and not as substantial as I was expecting. Beyond that, it had a grill flavor to it that was a bit out of place and interfered with the expected flavor. They seemed to put it on the grill to seal it closed in the middle but they keep the ends open so you have to hold the end closed while eating it to prevent bits from falling out. It was more of a somewhat buffalo flavored chicken roll-up than a buffalo chicken wrap. Surprisingly good fries. Also, great peanut butter pie. Note that the pepperoni is beef. It is very appreciated that it is clearly marked as beef so people can decide if that's a thing they want more or less than traditional pepperoni. Far too few other places think it's important to note this!
