My daughter has raved about the Breaded Garlic Parm Wings, and she ordered them for a family gathering. After devouring four juicy, flavorful wings that I dipped into their excellent very chunky homemade blue cheese dressing, I understand the hype. Does the breading enhance the flavor and make the sauce coat the wings better? I believe so. The wings both drum and flat were meaty. Extra parm was at the bottom of the serving dish and could be spooned onto wings. She also served Bourbon BBQ, Thai Chile, Korean, and PB and Jelly Breaded Wings. The Korean and Thai were delicious. The Bourbon and PB & J were too sweet for my taste, but they were enjoyed by others. Boneless Wings were typical fare. Wow! Breaded Wings are minimum of Five Stars! Delicious! I did not like the COB (cheese in bottom) Pizza. The crust and COB were good, but the thick top layer of slightly sweet not savory red sauce was unappealing to me. The other pizza from Red Front was a rectangular thin crusted cheese pizza that was okay but a little dried out. Family including kids preferred the round cheese pizza from Pizza Works that was available along with their Mac & Cheese Pizza. The BEAST pulled up to Red Front Pizza late night on my way to my military obligation... and this one? Yeah... it's a tough sit. Not good. Needs serious work. Let's not sugarcoat it. There's some buzz around their upside-down/COB-style pizza, and on paper, it should hit. But execution? That's where things fall apart. Crust comes out too thick and bready, lacking that crisp bite you expect. It feels more like filler than foundation. When you pick up a slice, it just doesn't have that structure or snap. Now the big issue the sauce. You guys know I'm a sauce snob. It leans heavy, overly sweet, and kind of flat. Instead of elevating the slice, it overwhelms it. You don't get that balanced, tangy tomato flavor just a one-note layer that sits on top of everything. Cheese and overall bake? Inconsistent. Some areas overcooked, others just sitting there. It doesn't come together as one cohesive slice. Even looking at Yelp (around that 3.3 range), it lines up this is a spot people want to like, but the consistency and quality just aren't there. read more

I'd heard about the COB pizza for quite awhile, so I thought I'd grab a couple slices....my favorite upside down pizza of all is O'scugnizzo in Utica...so that's the benchmark. I ordered more than I could eat. For myself and 2 others I ordered pb&jelly wings , garlic parm Buffalo and Memphis bbq wings. Additionally we got a large pizza with extra cheese and half pepperoni. It wasn't that bad but I was not a fan of the pb & jelly wings. There actually was no jelly on them. So they were very very dry. Everything else was mediocre. Ordered a large takeout cheese on bottom with sausage that totaled about $15.50. Sweetest sauce I've ever tasted on a pizza; can't imagine how much sugar is in this sauce, so if you don't like sweet pizza sauce, slow your roll cowboy and order up something else. Me, I ain't scared of sweet pizza sauce. I actually thought I'd be getting a round pizza, but it was a rectangular, 12 cut "grandma" style. Grandma style is rectangular in shape with dough that really hasn't been proofed to rise, so it's pretty thin. Don't expect Sicilian airy dough at all. I like grandma style pizza, almost like tavern style, so this didn't disappoint me at all. This was a tasty pizza, but is definitely better once you reheat it in the toaster oven to give it a much crispier crust; without that, the crust is just floppy and can barely support anything at all, much less toppings. Ample sausage crumbles across the entire pie, but not a ton of unique flavor and I noted absolutely zero fennel, so definitely forgettable. Next time I'll try the pepperoni or bacon. The cheese on bottom is unique, but as I expected, it got lost in the sauce and my experience with this pizza left me wanting more cheese for sure. I like lots of cheese on my pizza and this one had cheese, I just wanted more of it. If you're looking for something new to try in the pizza realm, try one of these cheese on bottom pies as you might really like it. Prepare yourself to be dominated by the sauce. Sauce domination! I found this location to be super clean, staff to be both efficient and friendly, and parking to be abundant and safe. I'll be back to try another one of their pies. read more

A taste of South Troy in CP. COB pizza is a must. Grew up on Red Front. While the menu is a little different than Troy, (missing the fried chicken and linguini and clam sauce) the pizza is amazing. Tried a calzone for the first time (broccoli and onion) and it was the best I have ever had. This was the perfect opportunity to try the new Clifton Park location of the renowned, original Red Front of Troy. My wife placed a phone order to pick up a 10-cut C.O.B. (cheese on the bottom), sausage and pepper pizza. They told her it would be 15 to 20 minutes and when she arrived it was indeed ready. She told me upon arriving home with the pizza that it still smelled new in the place with the aroma of fresh paint. She also noted that there were maybe 5 or 6 tables for those who might choose to eat on location. A COB pizza is quite different from a traditionally prepared pizza. Think of the taste buds in your mouth being flipped upside down or scrambled. Your eyes see pizza, your nose smells pizza, but your mouth's experience is not what you anticipate. This is not necessarily a bad thing. It just takes some getting used to. While the slightly sweet sauce is the first to hit your taste buds, a corner slice of a rectangular 10-cut is going to give you a good amount of crispiness, not only to the flavorful edge-crust, but also to the golden bottom of the dough. This was a very inviting mouth-feel experience. As you move to the slices away from the corner, the crispiness fades. But the COB concept actually helps to give more body to those slices. Our toppings of crumbled sausage and sliced peppers were therefore adequately supported by the long rectangular slices. The sausage could have benefited from more flavor (maybe a little fennel?) and quantity. Overall, a very nice change for us here in Clifton Park. Next time, we'll be interested in trying one of the traditional (s.o.b.?) pizzas. read more

Having been born and raised in NYC, my taste for pizza is pretty picky. So when someone told me about Red Front Pizza, I had to try it! Please remember that everyone's tastes are different. Since there were mixed reviews for the restaurant I figure it was worth a try.... I ordered some wings, extra crispy, and an 8 cut pie with sausage. The wings were perfect, crispy and tasty. When I tried the pizza, it was a different story. First the crust was very doughy and not crisp at all.. Sort of like a crust of an old slice that was microwaved. The sweet sauce didn't really taste that good to either my wife or myself. I'm sure that there are lots of people that love this pizza, we didn't care for it. My suggestion is give it a try and if you like it good, this NYC guy is going to skip it in the future. read more

I've heard a lot of great things about Red Front so when they opened a location in Clifton Park we had to try it. Run down They are located in a new plaza on Rt9 in CP. the place is clean, new with good parking and a large sidewalk, which is nice to let's the little kiddies run around on. The store front is easy to see and inside is great. Brand new, clean with a large kitchen you can see into and about 5-6 tables to eat at. Very pleasant and curious staff. My kids loved to look into the kitchen and watch them make the pizza. It's always nice when you can see your food being prepared. Onto the food; AMAZING! Lives up to the hype. We ordered a Cobb pizza and medium wings. Everything was delicious. Cobb pizza is made with dough, then cheese, then a sweet sauce. Every aspect was perfectly cooked and makes you want to eat more even though there's no room left. The wings were crispy and meaty = Perfect and the blue cheese was homemade, a little garlicky and probably one of the best I have had. Or total was $22, which was a steal for how good the food is. I will be returning for more Cobb, wings and to try other pizzas. Oh and they deliver for all orders over $10. read more

Wings only review - I was told this place has great wings by a co worker. I don't live anywhere near here so I wanted to try it out. It's a newer place as you drive up its in a little place with a new hotel in background. They had a very basic small menu upfront. All I could go off was this board and it said new wing flavors: Thai chili, lemon pepper rib and Cajun dry rub. I decided I'd order 2 orders, 1 lemon pepper and 1 Thai chili, extra crispy and light sauce. The cost was 9.99 per dozen (average price). So I get my receipt and sat down. The place has a total of 20 chairs (5 tables 4 chairs each). I get my wings and open them up and heat just hits my face! I couldn't wait to bit into these. I take a bite and wow they were hot straight from the fryer to my mouth. The lemon pepper has a good lemon flavor but overall taste salty to me. The Thai chili was a good sweet heat. I'd recommend the wings to anybody. Great job and keep it up. read more

I'm finally done with Red Front. Their food is very good but their service is absolutely below average. Just tonight, I ordered a take out order at 8PM, clearly stated online and posted on the door they close at 9:00. I arrived at 8:15 and the doors were locked. All the employees were inside, I knocked on the door, no one even looked up. I continued knocking and no response, just left me out in the cold. Someone finally remembered they operate a business and that they had a take out order and someone let me in, no apologies, no sorry. I asked about the closing time, and they close whenever you want. So if you want a pizza after 8:00, try somewhere else. I've also had my food given to the wrong customer before, enough is enough. read more

Stopped in to give this place a try and had some of the best Garlic Parmesan wings I've ever tasted! The pizza is damn good too. Red Front pizza is sort of like what Pizza Hut pizza would taste like if they used quality ingredients. It has a soft texture and the sauce is slightly sweet, but it's a really good combination. I was packing away the slices until I was full. Red Front's prices are fair. Their shop doesn't have many tables, they gave us styrofoam cups to drink out of and there's no air conditioning, so it's not a great place to sit down (especially during the summer.) It's really more of a take-out place. That said, it gets a strong recommend on the quality of the food alone! read more

Okay. So. I had came in on a Wednesday morning to order a 24 cut pizza for my grandsons 10th birthday party. Everything was supposed to go AMAZING! He had just turned double digits. The party was Friday evening after his hockey game at 3:00 PM. I had picked up the pizza 30 minutes before the party. The pizza smelled DELICIOUS! Nothing could be wrong with the pizza if it smelled great, right? WRONG. One of my grandsons friends had came up to me, and showed me his pizza. There was a PEICE OF FABRIC sticking out of the pizza. Recently "discovered" Red Front in CP when their pizza and wings were served at a catered event I went to. I've been to Troy location, which is a "Rock Solid" restaurant. The CP location is much different, BUT equally impressive. First, I love an "open kitchen". this place is kept clean and orderly. Nothing hidden... it's right there for the world to see. Service at the counter was quick and pleasant. Wings: I was pleasantly surprised by the MANY sauce options. (they aren't shown on the on-line menu). I tried the Honey Mustard and the Thai Sweet (spicy) wings. both EXCELLENT. Well cooked... but not dried out. as good as you get anywhere around here... probably anywhere. Pizza: I ordered Slices... they had the COB (cheese on bottom), so I tried it. Well, it's different than traditional, but delicious (i'm a pizza "purist") in its own right. Prices are about average; maybe a little higher than most "Pizza Places", but "in the range". IE: 10 wings for @ $10 vs. maybe 12 for $10 elsewhere. Overall, when the food, service, cleanliness and friendliness are ALL Excellent, you get what you pay for. Absolutely worth the $, and in my case, driving almost 6 miles (passing lots of pizza places), also worth the trip. I'm looking forward to trying the dinners. read more

The pizza is good--very good even. The problem is getting it. They definitely have a persistent fulfillment problem here. When I have tried to order by phone, I have often waited through many rings without a pickup. When they have picked up, I have at times been asked to hold even though I have already been on the phone for several minutes waiting for them. When I have stopped by for a slice or two, even at a less busy time, they have not had pizza for slices ready, and I have had to wait for them to make it. The pizza may be very good, but not so good that is worth frequently going through such a hassle to get it. Pizza is good. Service can be rude, arrogant and inconsistent. Depending on who answers the phone determines what type of service you're going to receive. Young lady who answer often is always nasty and seems to be very much bothered when you call. She also seems to be the only one who refuses to allow us to order a 8 cut pie unless it's after 4:30pm.
