Not quite sure if it was just a bad night but the food was so bad we don't want to order from here anymore for fear it will be just as bad. We had to call for replacement food. That's how bad it was. A-OK - in a good way. This is my SO's favorite pizza place, and he lives and breathes pizza, so we order from here a lot. He grew up going here, and we live close. I did not like it for a while, but it grew on me. the cheese pizza is 100% SOLID. And when i want NY style pizza, plain cheese is how i want it. The sauce has large pieces of basil leaves in it, showing a little green under the cheese. the sauce is better than some other places near by. Their single slices are really where this place shines. It is always better as a slice from the counter and popped in the oven. They have some great specialty pizza slices on display. Their subs are also very good. I had a roast beef sub and it was surprisingly good. Very hearty and meaty. I haven't had much else besides the antipasto salad, which i would not recommend. It had a lot of weird pickled vegetables on it, and it was not appealing. Go, grab a slice. read more

It is hard to tell if the pizza we received recently is the same style of pizza we would have gotten before the whole pandemic thing, but it wasn't very good. We ordered what amounts to a "Supreme" pizza (sans onions) and two styles of wings. Starting with the pizza, the crust was perfectly round, perfectly squat, and very tough to chew. I can't confirm that they used a preformed round of crust, but it wasn't airy or bread-like at all. It took a lot of doing just to get through, even for the inner portions. It was also devoid of salt or flavor. The sauce and cheese were sufficient but their sauce wasn't flavorful or acidic either. I had enjoyed their sauce in the past, so I wonder if they changed recipes or suppliers? The toppings were there and with plenty to spare (yay) but didn't add much either. You get what you get with black olives. We ordered "medium" Buffalo wings and honey barbecue wings. They were small and severely overcooked to the point of being dry, and several of the bones just cracked. The medium sauce was mild, and the honey BBQ sauce tasted artificial and unpleasant. Ignoring the fact that wings are rarely great when taken out, these were lousy just from a flavor and dryness perspective. I thought their pizza was decent before, but it wasn't even that now. We were road-tripping to Canada, and I was very hungry for pizza. I looked at some places and this one was right off the highway, so I decided to check it out. From the outside, it doesn't even look open - it looks like it closed 30 years ago, but as soon as you walk in, you are met with the family business owner, who is very friendly. I ordered a slice of the cheese pizza, which was very delicious. The building does need a remodel - there were water stains on the ceiling, the counter was cluttered and dirty, but behind there was a very clean kitchen. They had a certificate of cleanliness from the local public health department taped to the front window, and it was recent. Nothing to worry about. I definitely recommend it. If i could put zero stars i would. I ordered my food, 10piece boneless MEAL, that was to come with fries and a 20oz. beverage. The food finally gets to my place in a little over an hour ( i live 5 minutes away) and this is on a Sunday evening. Not only was my food cold, not even a little warm, but it was dry of texture soggy - like where hot food was placed in the Styrofoam container and closed, to make the condensation moisten the food. Also, the delivery driver forgot my coke. The weirdest part about that? The delivery driver cursed out the restaurant, and paid me $2 in CASH in replace of a beverage. Disgusting food. When i called to complain, the line rang and rang and rang. Never again, steer clear. They won't even honor your complaint. $13 gone to total waste. I threw it out, i didn't want to get food poisoning. I will never order there again, period. read more

I haven't had pizza this good in a very long time, and I know for a fact I'll be ordering from here in the future. The sauce truly is out of this world. I really do recommend getting extra sauce, it makes the best part more plentiful! I've been looking for a really great place for sicilian for quite a while now, ever since Papa's Corner Restaurant closed some years ago. It's solid 3* pizza with an extra * thrown in for value. There is something remarkably satisfying about paying only $1.25 for a slice with any amount of toppings. That's $1.25 for a buffalo chicken slice, $1.25 for a bacon and ranch slice, $1.25 for a veggie slice, or $1.25 for some meat laden slice. The pizza is made on screens (which leave those dreaded cross hatches on the bottom), but the crust picks up some good color regardless. It's a nice and thin version of a NY style slice. The crust isn't terribly substantial. Even for a thin crust slice, it's light and airy. But those are just nits. The only real complaint I have is that when they opened, their Buffalo chicken slice contained chunks of breaded, deep fried chicken, which was delightful. Since then they've changed to simply shredded chicken. You can order a whole pie with crispy chicken, but after paying $1.25 for a slice, it's hard to justify coughing up the money for a specialty pie. read more

I can remember stopping here many years ago when this neighborhood pizza shop was Pizza Nook, located at the corner of Central Ave and Osborne Rd in Colonie. However one day back in the late 1990s, I tried to call in a pizza order from Pizza Nook and was told the place was out of business by a gentleman who was reassigned Pizza Nook's old phone number. FFWD to present day (2012), this pizza shop is now Pizza Central. I stopped in here recently on a chilly dark evening with a BOGO Entertainment coupon in hand. This pizza shop has an old school atmosphere and is very cozy with seating along the front windows, across from the long glass counter with several varieties of NY style pizzas (by the slices) on display, but the pizza slices required reheating in the oven. Sicilian pizza is also available. The food prep area and pizza ovens are behind the counter. Besides pizza, they also serve calzones, rolls, subs, fried chicken, angus burgers, pasta dinners, gyros, salads, wings, appetizers, and drinks from the cooler. The prices here are pretty reasonable, most individual items are under $10. 10 Combo Meals are also offered served with fries and soda ($4.99-$7.99). I decided to use the coupon for 2 large subs to go ($7 each before discount/ $7 for 2 subs), a large Steak & Cheese Sub and a large Chicken Parm Sub, which were both oven baked and ready in about 12 minutes. Both subs were mighty big and very tasty. The tender shaved steak with peppers & onions was grilled to order in a pan on the stove before being oven baked with melted cheese in a soft Italian sub roll. The breaded chicken breast strips were tender and chewy topped with a thick marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. I will have to return to Pizza Central during lunchtime for some inexpensive specialty pizza slices! NOTE: The parking lot is very tight in front of the building. read more

Update- Decided to try this place again. Ordered pizza and wings for the office. This experience was extremely pleasant. When I placed the order over the phone, the guy was attentive and friendly. I stopped in to pick up the order about 30mins later. The pizza cook was busy but quickly helped gather my food and cashed me out. The food was great. Pizza has quality toppings, tasted great and was cooked perfectly. The wings were well prepared and had a ton of flavor. I typically never try a place after a bad experience but I'm glad I opted to try them again. If this quality and service is consistently this good, I'll continue to support them! read more

I am in love with this place! I am also selective with my five star rating reserved for the best of the best... at least in my eyes. We ordered regularly over a six year period. Sadly, we ordered our last pizza from Pizza Central. We relocated and are no longer close enough to order from here. The delivery is usually always 45-60 minutes. I have yet to find a pizza establishment in my new hometown that is a satisfactory replacement. We always ordered the buffalo chicken pizza, classic pepperoni pizza, antipasto, and medium wings mixed with bbq sauce. The wings are crispier then any pizza place thus far! The buffalo pizza is also the best of any establishment I have been to! Just the right amount of kick and great heated up the next day in the oven. The owner was always willing to fry me up a few huge slices of eggplant even though it is not a normal menu item. You usually have to order the eggplant parmesan which I do not want to order all the time. Although if I had the appetite, I would every time. The slices of eggplant are reminiscent to Homestyle Pizzas slices. For dessert, of course we usually ordered the canolis or fried dough which was large enough for three people to share. My goal is to share the wonderful experiences I have had at Pizza Central for people new to the Colonie / Albany area looking for great pizza- look no more! This will be your new pizza joint. Fairly good pizza, especially the white pies. They say there's no sugar added in the sauce or crust (not an ingredient aside from naturally occuring in other ingredients), which is unique in the area. That said, service was mostly okay or good until it was insanely horrible. After countless deliveries, often being a half hour to over an hour late (a few times an hour & a half late) with no complaints (for a long stretch of many weeks, having to work so much overtime I bought food from them almost every night since I couldn't cook or go grocery shopping), I ordered a free one topping pie with coupon cards this last time (forgot to give me a coupon card on several occasions). But it then got too late for me to keep waiting in order to avoid being late for work so I finally expressed my disapproval with a slightly raised voice saying I can't wait to the female clerk & now I'd have to go without dinner. A male owner then got on the phone & told me I can't get deliveries & not to call them anymore because it's too far away & because I was complaining & was ordering when there's traffic. It's 10-15 minutes away & I always tipped well, even after waiting for very late pizza that was always delivered barely warm. I was never told it was too far away, & objectively it's not. Toward tge end of the call, he told the driver not to deliver my pizza & claimed it was to the driver on another phone but that's not what it sounded like & they were already late. I was pissed, I think, very understandably. You come to your own conclusions but I don't trust them to not put horrible things in my food now, with that behavior. Horrible way to do business showing no care at all about keeping my regular businesses with them. This seemed almost a personal thing, as if the person just really didn't like me. Anyway, I'm a fair person. Like I said, it's good food, just be careful. Could have been just a bad day or the person could be generally like this or some combination anywhere in between, I don't know. Taking a risk saying anything on here, likely, but if the warning helps anyone it's worth it. By the way I don't know if it even WAS the owner or not. But they ran me off for sure. I could stand to loose some weight anyway. Pizza doesn't help & it wasn't amazing anyway. Grew up right outside NYC. Nothing upstate compares. Another place that offers great vegan options is almost neighbors with them, Little Anthony's. They're great. After my normal delivery place was unexpectedly closed on a Saturday evening I decided to give this place a try. I ordered 24 medium wings extra crispy and a large cheese pizza, looks like this is run as a regular special. Whoever cooked the wings really knows what extra crispy means. For delivery, these were the crispiest wings that I can remember. They also split up the order into smaller containers which was a nice touch. Pizza was good but honestly I overdid it on the wings and the pizza was more of an afterthought. Next day leftovers were satisfying. Hesitant to give a first time 5 star review so 4 for now. I'll have to try this place again. If the wings continue to be this good it's an easy update to 5 stars. read more

I stopped in the other day for a slice, you can't beat their $1.25 for any slice. I got a cheese and a buffalo chicken. Now, their pizza is pretty good, but their dough is light . That could be good or bad depending how thick or doughy you like your pizza. Their buffalo chicken pizza really tasted like every other pizza joints, nothing original there, but does the job. Year ago review: Now, in the past I've bought Bone and Boneless wings from them and I am not so much a fan. Their boneless wings I assume are homemade because they taste like chicken cutlets which are lightly floured and deep fried. You really do not taste the breading and you do not get a crunchy bite when you eat these, kinda taste like eating deep fried chicken cutlets with no breading and flavor. Eh pass. Their bone wings are too big, which result in a soggy no crisp skin. I love my wings and I am not your average schmuck wing guy. I had their wings when they first bought from the previous owner so their food might have changed recently? In the end, you can not beat their prices for the quality you get. It's a limited review, but I give a very solid 3 stars for their Sicilian style pies which are evenly cooked to wind up with a firm and golden crust. The dough is unremarkable, but the skill in managing the oven maximizes the ingredients. Toppings are just about right, and while maybe they could be a bit more liberal with their meat toppings, the result for multi-topping pies is a nice balance. A decent rendition of tomato pie is also available. I've ordered here several times, and the quality output is consistently good. Note that this is really a small take-out and delivery joint. There are a few table/bench combos repurposed from fast food restaurants, but the seating area is just a few feet from their ovens and is not a particularly comfortable environment. However, the delivery area is very wide, and I've found the order to pickup/delivery time estimates to be reliable and consistent. read more

The ONLY reason i did not give them 5 stars is because of the delivery driver. He literally made my wife so creeped out that we do not order delivery anymore which at times takes away from us ordering to a place with someone less creepy. From a professional stand point Dom should have a dress code, and an attitude coaching for his driver. read more

I ordered stuffed shells from here. The bread that came with it would have been better if it had butter and was toasted. The shells themselves were okay. They didn't include silverware but I didn't ask for any since I had some. The lid wasn't put on very well and some of the sauce spilled out into the bag, luckily it didn't leak out of the bag. Everyone at the restaurant were friendly so I am not complaining, I just recommend checking to make sure the lid is on well and be sure yo ask for silverware if you need it. read more

The Worst Experience I am reporting them in the morning to the BBB & Albany County Business Council. I'm a regular customer just 1.5 miles, with no turns, up the main road. After the hour wait, the phone rang off the hook. I did a live chat with Mealeo that I ordered through. The driver called 1 hr 15 minutes later that he (Dominic) was lost. I requested a refund & was told it was too late, Mealeo had no authority. Pizza Central finally picked up 1 1/2 hrs after original time & said they were busy. Pizza came on time, but the order was wrong. I called back up and it took a minute to get everything figured out, BUT they sent out another pizza, and gave some free pizza coupons along with the delivery. We order here a lot from work. They're pizza is always good, and delivery is fast. I've ordered food just for myself before and It was okay. Got a calzone which was bigger than my head - which was delicious. However, they're wings aren't terrific. I was a fan of their garlic knots as well. They always seem friendly and courteous.
