    Antipasto - for 2
    Loretta H.

A move from Menands and the pandemic have kept me from going back to LaBella's Pizza. After getting our vaccinations, two of my friends and I decided to try out LaBella's for a quick get-together. I was happy that the food has not diminished since my last visit. My go to is an antipasto; which at LaBella's it is for two. Yes indeed, it is big enough to be shared by two or more people. Friends chose dinners which they also took half home as well. We will be going back to LaBella's just because the food is good, they have their own parking lot and the staff were delightful.

Got antipasto and chicken parm. Sauce was bland and forgettable. Chicken was watery. Didn't feel good afterwards. Won't be back.

Tasty food (AMAZING eggplant parm, it's fried like cutlets first), great service, and things are ready quickly. Would recommend!

There are quite a few pizza places in a short stretch of Wynantskill, NY and I don't like most of…read morethem. La Famiglia was my favorite for a while, but they went out of business and I was left with no really good pizza place. Sure, there are those that will argue that they have their favorites in town. That's fine. But they're not MY favorites. Then I hear some good things about the newest kid on the block: La Trattoria. You should know that just after Thanksgiving last year I started a low-carb lifestyle trying to cut way down on breads and flour based products. Also, keep in mind I said cut way down, not totally eliminate. I mean, if I can't enjoy what I'm eating, then why not just eat processed mush, right? So, now I have pizza on the brain. I'm getting "ghost tastes" of pizza in my mouth and keep wondering if this place is going to be good. I finally crack. This is also smack in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing, restaurants closed for take-out only madness. I go in not expecting anything to be hot and fresh out of the oven because let's face it - people aren't rushing in and out of restaurants during this clamp-down. My litmus test for pizza is a plain slice. If you can win me over on the plain slice, that's all I care about. You have three key ingredients that have to synch up: the dough, the sauce and the cheese. I order two plain slices: one for me and one to share with my birds (2 Umbrella Cockatoos and a Blue Front Amazon), Guinea pig and bald rat at home. Hey, everyone loves good pizza and they help me keep the carb count down. They heat it up, put it in a box for me to take out of the place, because you can't eat it here - just like every place during this shutdown. I get to my car, open the box, pick up one of the slices and check underneath to see if it's one of the pre-made crusts. Nope, this looks like it was manhandled the old fashioned way - the right way to make pizza. I then fold the back end of the slice in half, bite down on the pointy end and... ...and I'm in pizza heaven. I close my eyes and I let the basic flavors of crust, sauce and cheese dance around my taste buds. The pie crust is thin, crunchy on the bottom and chewy in between and it has this amazing flavor that becomes even more noticeable when you get to the crusts. The sauce is just right. I hate a sweet tasting sauce. And the cheese tastes like cheese and not like a lump of melted plastic that's supposed to look like and pass as real cheese. Congrats, they hit on a winning combo. My pets approved too. They all got a piece of a much cooler slice of pizza and they all wound up with pizza face at the end. Not a crumb went to waste. I've been back twice since then for a slice - single since I'm still trying to keep the carb count down. But it's so hard when you have a great pizza place in your town. I wish La Trattoria a long and prosperous stay in town - mainly for selfish reasons. I love a great tasting pie and having a go-to pizza joint in town is more than anyone can hope for. I wish I could report on some of the other items they offer, but when they have a great plain pizza and you're satisfied with just that - no, let me rephrase that. When they have a great plain pizza and you can't walk out of the place without at least one slice of plain, it's really hard to go in there are try something else. Highly recommended. PLEASE PATRONIZE this La Trattoria and keep them in business (again, for selfish reasons.) :-)

So, needless to say, Route Four Pizza is a diamond in the rough for me. The crust is fantastic. It has some garlic and butter brushed on it that makes the corner pieces the ones you reach for first. A quality sauce that has a little sweetness and a little zip and an appropriate amount of cheese. Their toppings seemed pretty good, although the mark of a good pizza is if the crust, sauce and cheese can stand on their own. This pizza can. My wife and I willingly travel 30+ minutes to pick this pizza up, passing every Paesan's and I Love NY Pizza on the way without thinking twice. The wings are pretty good too. Not that greasy, but not great either. Route Four would be ranked #5 for me in Binghamton, but #1 here. It's a little piece of home (and quality pizza) that is hard to find.

I didn't love the sauce. I like onions but I thought the chunks were too large and they could have been cooked a little bit more for my taste. The crust was a tiny bit overdone as well. In summary, disappointed with the pizza.

Star Pizza is located in South Troy next door to the Troy Beverage Center, in the former Omme Eats…read morespace offering a similar menu including pizzas (pies or slices), calzones, salads, shawarma, sandwiches, burgers, subs, wraps, gyros, Italian dinners, wings, appetizers, chilled desserts, and cold drinks. They have coupon deals for pizza in their menu and they also offer 10 percent off online orders. While going through my mail, I found a colorful Star Pizza menu in the pile. I was reluctant to order from here since the reviews of the predecessor pizza place at this location were harsh. I decided to give this place a try anyways since I don't keep food at my second home. I placed my order online powered by Slice of Life for the Any Way You Want Calzone ($12.99) and Baked Spaghetti Dinner ($10.99) and the 10 percent discount was given at checkout. My online order was ready for pickup in about 25 minutes after placing the order. The custom Calzone was pretty big filling up a pizza box which was filled with ricotta, mozzarella cheese, sausage, roasted eggplant, and broccoli in a soft & chewy pizza dough pocket, cups of marinara sauce provided for dinner. The Baked Spaghetti came very hot in a round foil container which had soft spaghetti in a thick sweet tomato sauce and topped with a thick layer of melted mozzarella cheese. The food was pretty tasty and very filling to eat. Overall, Star Pizza is a great value for the amount of hot food given.
