I'm not sure if my previous review will still show here or not but I'd like to update my review from a few years ago from 3 to 5 stars. For years, there would be an issue with them forgetting to give me one of my food items, giving me the wrong thing, or something like that almost every time I went in. Locally to the 518 I've eat at many places but this one always calls me back. They have a great menu and insane choices for all of your cravings. Their pizza is amazing, fresh baked bread is so good paired with one of their soups. It def is a great place to eat. Their staff is awesome and always smiling which in this day is pretty rare. If you want a quality meal this place absolutely meets the standards. Keep up the good work!! read more

Been coming here since I was a kid. A lot of great selections. Great subs too! Service is friendly and quick. They redid the interior some time ago and it's really nice! I recommend the Reuben with bacon and the steak and cheddar on ciabatta (if they have ciabatta). They make fresh bread daily. read more

Big disappointment! We ordered pizza ( decent ) and five chicken tenders. Total bill was just north of $38 because we tipped 10% although it was pick up. The tenders cost $ 12.99 ! Definitely pricey but We figured they must be big. Nope. Take a look at the photo. I'm of the philosophy that cost is only an issue in the absence of value. No value here. And for a ridiculous cost. And to boot They were over cooked, dry and tiny. Just looked at the menus for Towne Pizza (2 miles up Carmen rd.) and paisans ( all over Capital region ) and the price is $8.05 and $8.25. We Recommend both places as they are typically our go to's for pizza. Delicious. We've eaten at Ruggerios before and it's been much better. You need to be better and don't over charge patrons. Not sure why the reviews are so low for this restaurant but I had no problems at all that. I ordered a 6" sub with a cookie and the sandwich was definitely big enough to fill me up for the day and the bread was excellent soft Italian style. Would certainly recommend them for a hearty sandwich if you're hungry. Also the home made cookie was great. read more

I went into Ruggiero's on Sat late morning on Feb 22 to return an order of wings that I purchased from them. Have purchased wings in the past from them with mixed results. They never had great wings. To be fair most of their other food on the menu is pretty good. Sometimes the order gets messed up, but that can happen at any food establishment . We thought we give them another try. Big mistake They were the worst wings I had ever had in my life, extremely fatty and not cooked as requested. Considering I paid $16 for them, I wasn't going to just throw them away. So when I explained to the young girl behind the counter why I wanted to return them, she took them into the back and reappeared after a few minutes only to tell me no refunds would be given since they had cut into all 10 wings and they were all cooked. They were the fattiest, most disgusting wings I had ever seen and tasted in my life. After some back and forth with her and her phony condescending attitude. All they would do is remake them right then or give us in house credit that could only be used for Wings. We explained that we didn't want the wings then or ever since we haven't had a good experience. We just wanted a $16 credit for a future purchase. We asked to speak to the owner who apparently was in the back orchestrating what to do / say. I asked to speak with him, but was told he worked very hard today and was extremely busy and had left for the day. So, he was back there for this whole exchange about the wings, refused to come out and speak with me directly about it, and instead sent his employee out to do his dirty work for him. We asked if he could call me to discuss, but was again told how busy he was and he wouldn't call us and if he did he probably wouldn't be very nice.The customer service in this place is appalling and well documented in other reviews. And to be honest not everyone there is appalling have had good experience with a few of them over the years. And after my partner stated we would not be back and it would suit her well to brush up on her customer service skills, she stated, "Good, don't come back because we don't want you here!" What a way to keep a customer. But I think I am most pissed off about the fact that he refused to come out and speak with me. Had he done that, this may not have happened. So Ruggiero's, you just lost all my future business over $16 of wings that probably cost you $6 or $7 and hopefully anyone else we tell and or reads this review who thinks your business practices are appalling. read more

10 yrs ago...this was our go to place for Italian take out, pizza, wings, subs, dinners etc. But about 8 or so yrs ago, and to this day...soooooo inconsistent!!!! I had never tried this restaurant before and decided to give it a shot. I think it is very important to support local businesses. Delivery was right on time. Driver followed social distancing delivery instructions perfectly. Driver was very friendly in text messages they sent. Food was extremely good. Ordered chicken parm dinner which came with a large amount of pasta as well as salad and bread. The sauce was very tasty. The chicken was nicely prepared and not over cooked. The pasta was bit more cooked than I would have liked but truly not so much as to have ruined the meal. The salad was very fresh as was the bread. All special food prep instructions were followed exactly. Also ordered a "build your own" sandwich and it was great. Plenty of meat and, again, all special prep instructions were followed. Lastly, they sell loaves of Italian bread. The loaf I got was extremely fresh and rates as one of the best loaves of Italian bread I have ever gotten - from anywhere. Absolutely outstanding bread! So this was a truly nice experience and I will, most certainly, be ordering from them again. read more

Awful customer service!! They charge $6 for delivery on a $14 pizza. They do not tell you that there is a delivery charge and so I tipped the driver a couple of dollars so on a $14 pizza the delivery was $9! This was not posted on the website nor told to me over the phone. I called when I saw my bank transactions and saw it came to $26 and change. I called the restaurant and they told me to come in and they would adjust it. Drove there and then they refused stating that I was informed of the fees which I most definitely was not! After a big heavy downpour with thunderstorms was over, I decided to pull over and grab a quick bite at Ruggiero's, located just north of the Route 20 intersection in Guilderland. Ruggiero's serves NY style pizza (by the slice or pie), sandwiches, and Italian food. Went in today after about 1 year of not ordering anything from them but we were in the area and we both were very underwhelmed with the pizza slices we received today, broccoli and pepperoni pizza slices just didn't measure up and even heated up in the restaurant they weren't real hot. I've tried ordering from them MULTIPLE times and they keep changing their "policies". First, we deliver 5 miles...and my house is 5 miles exactly and they refused. Second, "we close at 8pm on Saturday" when their menu and website CLEARLY states 9pm. Also, what pizza place closes at 8 on a Saturday?? We all make mistakes, but Ruggiero's has had a hard time fixing mistakes with our orders. A month ago our pizza order was incorrect when we got it home. To their credit, Ruggiero's did call us to let us know they made an error, and Ruggiero's was nice enough to delivery a replacement. Unfortunately the replacement pizza was also incorrect. At the time Ruggiero's said the mistake was due to two customers with the same last name that ordered identical pizzas of different sizes. That excuse seemed fishy as the original pizza and the replacement had different toppings. This evening we placed and order that was, again, wrong when we got it home. I called and spoke with a person who did apologize, and said they would be happy to make another order, but she was rather interuptive and seemed experienced with such issues. I then spoke with someone identifying himself as the manager. He was calm, but could only explain that he has an issue with revolving help, and communication is an issue. He said his incorrect order level was very very low - I'd say apparently I was at the wrong place, wrong time. I suggested he primarily use telephone numbers to identify orders as everyone's is unique. That seemed to not go very far, and he had reasons and explanations for how they operate and their procedures. Customers should be understanding that things happen and we are all human. However, a business's problems are the business's problems, not the customers. And, I'm sure if I couldn't pay for my order that would not be the business's problem. When a manger provides excuses for why things are the way they are and not a reason to come back, that's exactly what customers will do - not come back. read more

Put an order in at 6:50 for delivery and they stop delivery apparently at 7:30. Waited until 8:20 and still hadn't got my food. No call, no text, no nothing. Called the next day and they told me they received the order and that the driver was thorough and asked if the driver called or texted me. I told them no and I never got my food and why was my food not delivered if I put it in before 7:30...well they had no answer and told me to call mealeo(the app I had to order through) for a refund. Today, I wanted to stop in for myself and see why there are so many poor reviews in hopes of leaving a 5 star for them, but Oh man was I quick to regret this visit. I ordered a 4-cut buffalo chicken pizza and a large soda. I was charged for and given a 6-cut. I addressed this, but it was long after I had received my food, paid, and tipped 5 dollars. My response from the owner was that they cut their 4-cuts into 6 cuts anyway. I feel taken for a fool, not to mention the pizza was bland. Ask for a receipt upon check-out to avoid DECEIT. read more

Heaven help you if you try to set up a catering arrangement with them. My wife reached out to them 3 weeks before an event. After settling on the location and headcount, we were given a very reasonable final amount. 4 days before the event, the owner John emails us telling us he didn't realize that the requested date was a Sunday and tried to charge me an extra $80 to cover the extra cost of staffing on an off day. While trying to resolve this with him, he accepted no accountability for his mistake, and held fast to his "policies"- holding me and my event essentially at ransom. He finally agreed to honor his initial price and would emails us "within the hour" to finalize the arrangement. Less than 20 minutes later he calls me telling me that we "weren't worth it" and I wasn't worth the hassle. Mind you, this is 4 days before my event- hardly enough time to make alternate arrangements, and something tells me this guy knew it. I laid into him for it, and truth be told, I used some very "honest" language with him. He finally agreed to "take us back" so to speak, but at the $80 higher price. I then receive a long rambling text message from him about how he "Honestly feels bad" and "doesn't want to ruin anyones day" (which is why you cancelled 4 days beforehand and told me I wasn't worth it?) He quoted me a lower price but I couldn't shake the feeling he was going to flake on us. Once you've lost trust in a business it takes a LOT to restore that trust, and I seriously can't trust this man's word- not when you flip flop around saying one thing then call me 20 minutes later telling me the opposite, and then texting me to say yet another thing. We finally made alternate arrangements through a very sweet friend and my wife called John to let him know his services were not going to be needed after all. This is when he told my wife "honestly I don't care, and I didn't want to come into work on a Sunday for $X amount anyway". He then admitted his mistake, and told my wife that I was a jerk off. I seriously wouldn't trust this man. He tried holding me financially responsible for his mistake, and instead of admitting to it and trying to come to a compromise he held my entire event's catering ransom until I agreed to his terms. I'd call him a scam artist for this, but it was hardly art. It was ugly, uncalled for, and truly unprofessional. I seriously urge you to reconsider these guys for any catering. read more

I'd heard good things about this place, but it only took one visit to convince me otherwise. I ordered a Greek salad, no chicken. This place had the nerve to charge almost 9$ for the simple salad, and didn't even serve it with a pita or bread. They proceeded to give me a hard time for not paying cash, and forgot to give me dressing. Once I finally got back to work with dressed salad in hand, I opened the box to find the saddest little salad you ever did see. Romaine lettuce, olives, feta cheese, and pieces of an unripe tomato that hadn't been properly cored. For 9$! No thank you Ruggiero's, I'll be going just about anywhere else henceforth. read more

This place is terrible, the worst customer service and cleanliness I have ever seen at a restaurant. Two visits was enough for me to never go there again. The first visit I went in to order two slices of pizza to go. The lady was moving soda machines around with some cardboard boxes also and she came from that area to the pizza counter to deliver my order... I observed her not washing her hands and grabbing the slices from the pies. I immediately told her I would not eat that pizza because she had handled it. Left the place quickly. The second and last visit I ordered some sandwiches and they were two of the rudest people I have ever met. They would tell you that you are ordering wrong. Never ever going to that place again. It is outrageous this place has 2.5 stars. Italian mixed on their Italian bread is one of the best sandwiches in the capital district.
