I try to use a business a few times before posting a review because sometimes experiences vary. Not with Amante's, they are always great. I ordered 6 bone in wings parmesan with blue cheese and a medium cheese pizza with sausage, mushrooms and extra cheese. The wings were juicy, delicious and hot. The pizza was delicious as usual and enough for leftovers the next day. Ordered delivery this past weekend based off Yelp recommendations. My delivery driver was very kind and patient finding my apartment (in the snow nonethless). The food came warm and was yummy. I expected the garlic knots to be a bit more flavorful than they were but they were okay. The wings and pizza were solid, nothing extraordinary but definitely not bad. I prefer crispier fries so I'm a bit biased against those. The price for all of this was very reasonable and I used one of their combo coupons for the pizza, wings, and garlic knots. The pizza restaurant is situated in a neighborhood that may not be very inviting. During my visit to Troy, NY. I chose to stop for pizza and selected this place based on my GPS. I didn't eat any of their food but I've decided to leave a review. I checked their business hours on Yelp and arrived 10:35. The store wasn't ready to serve. The person at the front told me to wait for a 10-15 min. But later he told me that the store opens at 10:45. Well, maybe there was misprint on yelp but they are not aware of it. It is 10:30 and their door was open... I put two stars not for that. They had two "stacks" of slices in the show case, and each of them are literally the stack of 5-6 slices. It must be from previous night. It looks just my last night left over pizza. They are keeping it and selling it? In any case, the show case should be empty and clean before the opening. Any slices shouldn't be stacked. The quality/sanitary aspect of a dining places should be better with their high rating. The store is small, and I saw someone smoking weed on the street across... Staying at a hotel in the area and Amante was recommended by the hotel staff. I was a little apprehensive since some of the reviews on Yelp were worded with "Best pizza in the Troy area" The pizza may be the best if you live in the region, but for a boy from NYC the answer is No! The prices though are reasonable for a large pie with toppings. I had half with sausage and pepperoni and an order of 12 mild jumbo buffalo wings. The food took about 30 minutes to get here and the ordering was quick and easy as the guy who took my order over the phone was pleasant and gave me some discounts. When the pizza arrived I didn't have any plates, napkins or parmesan cheese. So make sure you request for these items when you place your order. The pizza itself looked beautiful with strategically placed toppings that made my 1st impression when I opened the box a surprisingly impressed one. Unfortunately, the dough was way too spongy and soggy and the sausage and pepperoni lacked any real flavor. I did however enjoy the wings, but wished they would have gave me more bleu cheese dressing since ithe container was not enough for 12 jumbo sized wings. Best pizza, maybe for the area. A small pizza spot with a college town town vibe. I'm not sure what other reviewers were expecting comparing this place to NYC pizzerias. Last I checked, the Troy/Albany area isn't considered NYC. Having been spoiled by experiencing the best of pizza parlors in New Jersey, NYC, and New Haven, I tempered my expectations and found the pizza here to be solid. The staff was friendly and the placed offered promotions for combos as you'd expect in a college town. There is limited seating inside as the place is primarily set up for take out/delivery, but can accommodate people wishing to dine in. Yelp led me here & Amante Pizza did not disappoint. I ordered a large pizza with 2 extra toppings and a large salad for delivery from Amante Pizza through Slice in Carrboro. The cost was $45+. The order arrive an hour later and was not at all what I expected. I have ordered from Amante fairly often for about 40 years since Mike Villipoto first opened, so I knew very well what to expect. When I complained, the manager said that the pizza was a large one stuffed into a medium box and that the salad was their large one. That is laughable. The pizza fit fine into the box, and the salad was not at all large. The Slice people were caught in the middle. In any case, Amante has lost for good a long time customer, and if that manager worked for me, she would be fired for sure, not so much for making mistakes on the order, but for denying the error. read more

Where else to write my 200th Yelp review but my favorite pizza place in Troy? Hello Amante! Tucked away in between RPI and dreaded Hoosic Street, I have never entered your doors. I found you through google searches and maybe even yelp on a drunken Saturday night at 10PM, craving pizza like no other. I have celiac disease, which means that wheat products make my brain inflamed, which also means that pizza is never my go-to because it's usually a hassle to find one made out of rice and potato and whatever else. It's always annoying to ask if the option exists, and all that. However, Amante's website (although very difficult to navigate on mobile) makes it easy for me and kept me confident that they wouldn't mess up my order. The gluten free only comes in one size and they don't overcharge you ridiculous amounts for getting it gluten free (another reason celiacs rarely order pizza). I am SO GRATEFUL. No repeating my order a million times over the phone, no repeating my address a bunch, either. They have the pizza ready and get to my place super quickly every time. I just moved two blocks farther than my last place, so I'm not sure I'm still able to order delivery from them (a little afraid to find out), but DeFazio's is right next door and I'll still order from Amante. First time ordering pizza from Amantes. It was excellent! The delivery was lightning quick and the pizza was much tastier and seasoned then other establishments. I mean what can you really say about pizza? I can say enough to let everyone know it's worth a try! Not your average pie. The wings were meaty and seasoned just right. We were told to pick the pie up in 25 minutes and the pizza was ready when we arrived. It was appropriately hot and fresh tasting.The pepperoni count was generous, with 5-6 pieces of pepperoni a slice. The cheese was good but a bit blander than Di Fazio's.The three of us agreed that the pizza was pretty good but we prefered Di Fazio's pie. But what the heck....you would be hard pressed to find a Pepperoni Pie in the Capital Region as good for $12.95.
