Sausage pizza what more can I say? Oh yeah, I can say Italian mix sub with Italian dressing will knock your socks off, but please keep your socks on.

Once again, a group of us got together on the 3rd Thursday of the month to indulge in typical tavern food consisting of pizza, wings, and mozzarella sticks and we can't forget beer. This month's stop at DJ's Manor House was a bit more challenging for some than others. GPS apparently has a bit of a problem with the address since the building is pretty far back from the road, it's behind several other businesses that are close to the road, access is actually from either the Big Lots parking lot or Ridge Road, and it is hard to see at night. But that's not a problem for the locals, and the locals are likely the main customers. They are warmly greeted by the bartender and friends with other customers. There is no table service, you grab a paper menu and place your order at a hole-in-the-wall pass-through to the kitchen, unless you have phoned in your order ahead of time. And that seems like what most locals do. Our party of five ordered a pitcher of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale while we waited for our food. All of the food was brought to our table by kitchen staff at the same time, so it was important to dive into everything as quickly as possible to be sure we were eating hot from the kitchen. The Mozzarella Sticks were pretty food-service-provider standard, in other words, not made in-house. The raspberry sauce was a good one. Just sweet enough and a nice viscosity. The Wings were ordered with a hot sauce and they did have enough heat to the spice, but were not crispy since they had been covered with the sauce. The meat was plentiful enough, moist, and tender. Before trying the pizza, we also tried an order of Pepperoni Pizza Logs. Another likely food service item, being deep fried they had a nice crispiness and surprisingly were not greasy. I would have liked just a bit more pepperoni flavor from them. There are two styles of pizza offered, Mama Dee's thin crust and regular. I'm reluctant to identify regular as "Sicilian" because other than the crust edges being thick the dough for the rest of the pizza was only slightly thicker than Mama Dee's thin crust. Actually, I believe both of our pizzas were undercooked on the bottom. They lacked any crispness and were very pale in color. Slices that I brought home and reheated in a frying pan were greatly improved. The Mama Dee's came with sauce, sausage, mozzarella, olive oil, oregano, and parmesan cheese. I would have liked the sausage to be more evenly distributed so that more bites had some sausage in them. Also, the cheese seemed excessive; more like what you get when you order double cheese. Our other pizza was a square 12-cut that we had prepared half with just cheese while the other half was our own custom "Steve N" concoction of sauce, mozzarella, ham, bacon, and hot peppers. It was a nice blend of flavors, but once again, too much cheese.

I will never order from these incompetent morons again. Whom ever packs the to go orders needs a course in thermodynamics. 2 out of our 4 containers were melted and in danger of falling apart due to having MELTED. The food itself was for the most part turned into carbon. Hint to the cook: the food is done before the smoke alarm goes off.

This is an antipasto? Really Manor House. Really.

Food: everything was delicious, the chicken parm was huge, the pasta on the side was a little acid but it was still good. The spicy penne sauce was mouthwatering, the pizza was delightful. The salad was fresh and so good. The tiramisu and the coffee hit the spot! The Sauvignon Blanc was nice and cold. The service was great. Everyone was so nice and attentive. The ambiance was nice. The space is spacious with lots of seating either by tables or at the bar. It gives a hip and trendy modern feel. Our server Lydia was great. I liked that they had a kids cup for my daughter's apple juice which was a regular plastic cup with a disposable top for the straw. We shared the arancini, homemade meatballs and the 5 formaggi pizza. The arancini was a great appetizer. The was a rice ball filled with mozzarella and had a nice crisp breading. It was served with their Rosa sauce. The meatballs were good and had well balanced tomato sauce served with it and pipped whipped ricotta. The wood fired pizza is something you have to get there. Definitely one of the best wood fired pizzas I've had. It had a nice thin crisp crust and a pillowy crust end. The flavor of the cheeses and garlic was a good combination. We will be back in the future when traveling in the area.

Thirteen years is a long time to have been away from Chez Mike. We've mentioned it multiple times…read moreover those years as a possible dinner location but somehow always ended up someplace else. Gathering with friends on this occasion seemed to be the trick. The restaurant was reasonably busy when we arrived at 5:15 on a Tuesday and all of the unoccupied booths already had reserved signs on them. When we left at 8 p.m. it was still almost full of customers. We sat at the bar with a Chatham Helles Lager ($7) and a refreshing Mocktail ($5) made with cucumber and mint while we waited for our dining companions. Upon seating our party of four into one of those reserved booths, my wife and I started with the Seared Halloumi Cheese ($13) as a shared appetizer. This dish was so attractive and appealing looking that our dining companions also ordered it after we were almost finished with our serving. Maybe our raving about the wonderful flavor of the cheese, the beautiful sear markings, the refreshing aspect of the watermelon pieces, the texture contrast of the pistachios, and the flavor of the honey-sherry vinaigrette also had something to do with their decision. For her entrée, my wife ordered one of the daily specials, Pan Roasted Cod ($35). Served with steamed rice, braised Swiss chard, sweet potato, and a slightly spicy "Holy Trinity" creole sauce, she was very pleased with the dish. My taste of it echoed her sentiment. As I've written previously, I don't get to enjoy lamb at home so I will frequently order it when it's available while dining out. Therefore, the Lamb Feta Burger ($23) had my attention. It was served on a toasted baguette (the same that is served as the delicious bread for the table with calamata olive butter), with caramelized onions, arugula, garlic aioli, and French fries. The lamb was fresh, moist, very mild in flavor, but with only a slight noticeability of the feta cheese. It was delicious! The French fries were served perfectly, hot and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Cups of coffee after dinner were rich and full flavored. Finally, the cubes of brown sugar that I was so pleased to see served thirteen years ago are still being served. Hurrah! Service was friendly and welcoming.

Sent it back and was taken off bill. My wife had pork dish. Breading was tasteless and pork was tough. We both tried it. Waitress took that back and reviewed menu to recommend an alternative. Butternut squash soup was my wife's preference which was good. I had calves liver which was excellent. We were not charged for soup but the pork dish was left on bill.none of this was the fault of our server and that was reflected in the tip. First experience here probably not go back

The bar is attractive. It's the first thing you see when you come in and it was very busy. There's also a good size dining area with more than a dozen tables. On this particular day all of the tables were occupied by 1pm and there was a line of would-be diners waiting to be seated. It was a Friday and the sun was shining brightly. The arctic blast that we had been experiencing finally broke. This was first milder winter day in a long time. It seems the good weather brought out the crowds. The staff admitted they were a bit surprised by the turnout. I understand why the community is drawn to this place. Both the decor and the staff are so cheerful. I ordered a fully dressed hamburger, onions and etc. I also had coleslaw and macaroni salad. It was all great except that my medium well done burger was a bit more charred than I would have liked. I would take off a half point for that, but kudos to the kitchen and the entire staff for making it through the onslaught of customers without appearing to break a sweat. I'd like to return another day when things are a bit less busy. I'm pretty sure the burgers will be perfect then.
