    Supposedly Margarite pizza

Ordered a margarite pizza which should have had fresh tomatoes& basil leaves on it to be delivered thru door dash. We got no basil leaves and it looked like canned tomatoes and mozzarella and Parmesan. The toppings disappointed the crust was ok. Don't think I'll order again.

The Pizza Palace isn't an inviting atmosphere for eating in. There was one decent-sized round table, a bar with stools, and two smaller tables near the drink case. We went in the early evening in a weeknight and found the display case to be pretty bare. There was a small family eating at the aforementioned round table, and one other customer there. The place was pretty dead. They had a number of interesting options on their menu. Three of us were ordering and decided on each getting a small pizza so we would have leftovers for lunch the next day. We ordered the Palace Deluxe, the Margherita, and Crazy Chicken pizzas, as well as a cheese calzone to share. We were told the order would take about 20 minutes. Since the storefront is pretty small, we left, and returned to pick up our order. I think they forgot about our order. In the time we were gone, the family sitting at the round table had left, replaced by a new family who already had their food, yet our order wasn't ready. In fact, it was another 20 minutes before our order was done. So, on a dead evening, it was 41 minutes from when we placed our order to when we received it, verified by the timestamp on our receipt. Of the three different pies we purchased, the Crazy Chicken was good, and the only one I would order again. The Palace Deluxe was okay. The Margherita was disappointing. The Calzone was okay. Considering that we paid $78, I don't think the Pizza Palace is worth it. It was over-priced, compared to other local pizza places, and the wait was ridiculously long under the circumstances.

We frequented this place over the past two weeks while taking care of a family member in their final stages of life. Pita and Olive became our family's go-to spot for comfort food. We all ordered various plates from kebabs, falafal, beef and lamb pitas, chicken bowl, and sides of their delicious rice. While running errands a few days ago I actually stopped in JUST to pick up a side of rice and a small cup of their creamy dill sauce (which tastes amazing on everything). Fresh ingredients that are seasoned beautifully and plates that are crafted to satisfy and bring happiness to your tummy and your heart. I want to thank Pita and Olive for providing us with nourishment during some pretty chaotic and sad times.

The addition of the coffee bar/cafe menu has only further endeared me to the place. Just like their food, many of the components of the coffee menu are scratch made, including the milks. They make a pistachio, almond, and oat milk all in house. There may be more too, but those three I know for certain. The attention to detail is also impressive, such as the presentation of each beverage. The cups the drinks are served in aren't just pretty, but also sturdy. Which as a clumsy person, I appreciate. Harder for me to spill. Ha! Something to keep in mind about the cafe menu is that since everything is mainly scratch made or ordered special (their Matcha is from Japan) they will be out of things at times. But there's nothing bad on the menu so I humbly suggest going in with an open mind. The lack of one item being available has caused me to try others, and I haven't disliked anything! I hope they continue to do well and are in the area for a long time to come.

Similarly, the garlic mayo was excellent and it helped elevate the burger. In addition, the bun was fresh and enjoyable. My only problem with the burger was that the caramelized onions were undercooked. However, the burger was still very good. In like manner, the fries were pretty tasty as well. To enlighten, the fries were hot, crispy, and salted well. As a final point, The Exchange is a good restaurant with solid burgers and fries.

The siracha mayo gave the tacos just the right amount of spice, and don't let it fool you being listed on the appetizers menu, because it is a whole meal in itself. I don't know if the siracha overpowered the blackened seasoning, or if the blackened was just grilled. The steak frites special sounded amazing but no one in our party ordered it, but they do have specials. Sweet potato fries were a little soft, not quite crispy.

Bartender was friendly and responsive; we split the chicken bacon avocado sandwich and the bbq pulled pork mac. The chicken sandwich was nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad either. The bun was a simple hamburger bun. The mac n cheese was top tier, came out piping hot and had a good amount of pulled pork and Cole slaw on it. Even between the two of us we had to take some home. Personally I would get regular Mac without the pulled pork next time. I also got a glass of the Italian pino Grigio which was pretty good and reasonably priced. Our meal came with free chips and dip, but we tried to hold out for the main course. I heard their burgers are divine, so I would come back for that and maybe get their home brewed beer. The bartender seemed far more focused on socializing with friends, the hostess, and an off-duty employee than on serving the guests sitting at the bar. At one point, we sat for more than seven minutes with empty drinks at a bar that was nearly empty. Despite making several attempts to get her attention, we weren't acknowledged until another employee noticed us trying to flag her down and stepped in. Even then, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the delay. Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated moment; it was the pattern throughout the evening. Conversations with coworkers & friends consistently took priority over customer service, leaving us feeling ignored despite the bar having very few customers. The food was still very good, but the level of attentiveness and professionalism from the bartender fell well below the standard.

Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. While we may make other food choices (skip the calamari and pretzel bun but keep the pot pie), we will definitely return.
