    Big D sandwich
    Natalie P.

5 stars.. no complaints here! Traditional old school vibe Italian deli in Albany. Made to order sandwiches available and they are fantastic. I ordered the big D which came which cured meats, provolone, and Italian dressing. The bread it was served on was so fresh. The sandwich was filling and I ordered the smaller size. There is a great cheese counter too with lots of samples. Other offerings include cookies and a small prepared foods counter. The ladies working here are so friendly and engaged with my daughter and myself. Will definitely come back when in the area!

When I visit family in Albany a stop at Cardona's is always a must. They have great Italian Food & Sandwiches. While waiting for our order I love tasting cheeses from all over the world. I love the smoked Gouda cheese & hard Goats Cheese. At this visit we ordered a build to order Italian sandwich with Turkey & Ham to go. We also got some miniature Cannolis & Italian cookies to take home. Everything was super delicious. If only I was not rush I would have enjoying eating there. Small of the eating area The cannolis did not make it out the door. We ate it all. The Cookie was authentic that made it through a 2 plane rides in one piece not much crumbs in our check in luggage. Looking forward to returning to Cardona's of Albany NY soon.

Can't believe I've lived in this area for 15 years and today was my 1st time here! I had a weekday off and knew I'd be in this area without kids and was looking for somewhere to buy myself lunch. I wanted soup! So here I was. The street parking was not hard to find. The staff were all so chipper and helpful. I picked a soup from the 4 choices offered. I also got 2 of the prepared salads (broccoli salad and antipasto). I couldn't decide what to get from the hot bar and ended up picked chicken piccata with penne from the menu. Although it was very busy, the place ran like a well oiled machine. The food; chefs kiss. I can't wait to return to try something new.

    Fuh getabout it

The best Italian market around is by far @cardonasmarket Our favorite hot sandwich is the Fuh-getabout-It but you definitely won't forget about it. It has the best quality ciabatta bread, chicken cutlet, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato and spinach around. The bread is so thin but perfect. We like to add a balsamic glaze for extra density. But don't forget about the hot foods which are the most amazing sauces you'll find. Plus their desserts are so unique and delicious. Pictured here is a cannoli cupcake

    Olives galore!

A must visit in Albany. This charming little Italian Market is filled with fresh ingredients and prepared Italian foods and meats. I was like a kid in a candy shop. The market is in an older building and is immaculate inside. Masks required during COVID. Shelves of virgin olive oil and cases of artistic baked goods greet you. There is a coffee bar in the middle of the store. There is a case of prepared foods if you don't want to cook. Many locals stopped by to pick up a quick dinner of pasta and other hearty offerings. They also have a selection of fresh Italian breads. And don't let me forget to tell you about the selection of gourmet olives and cheeses. We picked up some local Alps soppressata ($20) (from Aurora, NY.) Also a Greek Salad, Italian sausage and enormous meatballs. The soppressata was out of this world. The salad was very good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The shop is tight and it's hard to distance, but everyone is good about wearing masks. There is street parking available. We parked right in front. If I lived in Albany, I'd be here every day. So authentic Italian.

Broccoli rob and Rise ball (arancini)

If you want to find the best Italian food in Albany this is the place to be. The space: this is an absolutely adorable space. It's easy to find and there's tons of street parking. You enter and there are a few places to sit but it's mostly for takeout. A few tables in the front and then a classic center bar style to sit in and eat your delicious food. The food options: You can shop like you're at the grocery store getting your fresh deli meats, pastas, cheeses, olives, breads and various pastries or you can get pre-packaged meals, or your choice of hot foods like chicken parm, meats balls etc or get yourself a classic sub! My food: my friend and I got the eggplant parm with penne, an arancini, broccoli rob, potatoes, ravioli, chicken franchaise and the tortellini and EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. The chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful. The broccoli rob was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were the right amount of crispy. We cannot wait to go back and try everything on the menu

Best sandwiches/subs, price can't be beat. Order online to avoid some of the wait you'd get if you just go in.

Yes to prepared sandwiches! NO , Never to slides deli meat, or any meat! Instead of fixing the problem they offered to refund my money. I actually wanted the board head product( without paying sales tax on meat. ) I don't understand what they thought they were or think they're doing. It's illegal!!!! Best deli meat ever ,in my opinion ,is Boars Head & they have it. I've worked at numerous deli's (Adam's) and Supermarkets, ie: Waldbaums, where you had to actually Know what was taxable and not taxable . And I'm sure a bunch of other people can't agree that, meat , in this case,is not taxable. He knew he was wrong. He said he was in the middle of updating his system. But instead of fixing the problem, and taking off the sales tax so I could leave with the meat , I would have loved to have had & give them my money at $13.99 /lb (a bit high, but was willing to pay for it) He offered my money back so that the next unknowing, tourist, (tourist town, or regular person )in particular would go in there and actually pay him the extra bit of money he's getting that you don't have to claim on your tax forms because it's not a section on the form to pay tax on because MEAT IS NOT taxable. So he's collecting money just like my vet did in Lake Katrine New York collected money on my dog's medicine on sales tax until I caught it. Medicine is not taxable at all either. Including Band-Aids, aspirin, medicated shampoo. Just be careful consumers out there. Because if you're not paying attention, they'll take your money, because that is exactly what is happening when they tax items that don't belong BEING TAXED. It's our country's 250th birthday where we didn't pay the sales tax on the TEA ( 250 years later, we're still not paying sales tax on Tea. (Or coffee) You are welcome;-)! I'm sure I am one of the first and few that have noticed tax on meat, in that store & brought it to their attention So hopefully I am not banned from that store. I will let you know in about 60 days or so. Update btw need to say, I really don't want to be that person to "hurt " local businesses but someone needs to know and if it were a big corporation I'd post it too. I obviously didn't buy the meat nor have any thoughts of posting anything about the company.or I'd have had my phone out to screen shot it. But that was my experience trying to get my favorite deli meat (and willing to pay the $2.00 tourists tax I call it jokingly) more per lb than most anywhere in Ulster county but wasn't willing to pay sales tax. Hope they have" fixed ". Their system. What a waste of a pound of turkey too. Rather than acknowledge the fact and sell it to me correctly.

We went the first time because it was one of those days, and our non-vegetarian kid was desperate to eat and we were in the neighborhood. So while he chowed down on the pork sandwich platter (which was, he reported, excellent, and I can tell you the aroma made my mouth water), we split one of each non-meat side available. Chips, Potato Salad, Mac and Cheese, the Japanese eggplant, and the Kimchi Coleslaw. (I think we passed on the beans because they had pork in them.) They were FABULOUS! I mean, I've had plenty of BBQ sides in my time, back when we were carnivores, and I've tried them all. I can think of maybe two or three others that were the equals here, but for a limited run of options, it was non-pareil. It kind of makes me wish they'd put their minds to a veggie sandwich, the name of the place notwithstanding. They do the maillard reaction proud.
