This place was closed for months and the food quality wasn't as good when they returned. Might be new owners, but my bowl had cucumber ends, average quality chicken and some bad lettuce. They also raised the prices and some nasty guys were smoking cigars on the patio. Used to be the best, now not so much. read more

We had lunch here. The reno is nice. The restaurant is a nice, open, clean concept. We were the only customers there at that time. We dined in. We ordered a lamb/beef gyro, chicken gyro salad, Greek fries app, falafel app & the spanakopita app. The lamb/beef gyro & chicken gyro salad was delicious (good meat portions) The outside of the falafel was overcooked, almost too hard to eat, but the center was still tasty. The spanakopita was terrible. Cold in the center, too much watery spinach and no ways near enough feta. It tasted awful We each tasted a bite & then threw it away. They have a new "fried cheese" on the app menu. I do want to try that sometime. Service was simple & not engaging. There was 1 other customer, the time we were there. read more

They're Back!!! The balance in the universe has been restored! Recently reopened with a renovated interior it is lovely. The same welcoming staff are there and certainly remember their regulars. While I was there I heard so many gleefully exclaim, "Yay! You're open again!" So many families and young couples. It was delightful to see they hadn't lost their stride. The food was consistent and I was so grateful. It's my favorite gyro place to go after the gym. I get the gyro with Greek salad to balance carbs, protein and veggies . My mom, toddler and I stopped by after picking up goodies from Nothing Bundt Cakes. It was quiet, staff was super friendly and helpful with adding drinks on at the end that they so nicely didn't charge us for. I've been coming to Pitadale for years. As a vegetarian there are lots of great choices but I always get the veggie pita combo. It has a choice of hummus, choice of side and a fountain beverage/iced tea. I opt for the fries as a side and they, and the pita, are always made fresh to order. I'm not a fan of bell peppers and I request no bell peppers. The staff are always willing to accommodate. It's a great spot lunch! There is a covered patio with six 4-top outdoor tables and some are shaded. There is a code to access the restrooms now, ask for it at the register. This is a small business and they are currently short staffed (like most of the world). So be kind to the staff who are working and if you know anyone looking for a job -- they are hiring! My mom likes this place and has ordered from here for parties and carryouts many times. When I told her that we ate here, she said "You took it home". I said "No". She said it's a carry out place, then we proceeded to go back and forth on how many dine in tables they had and that you can eat there. Moms, you know... Food: It was ok, nothing special. I thought it was a bit overcooked. Noticed a lot of people around us eating salads with protein toppings. So maybe that's the trick. For us we thought there are better options in the area. This is fairly close to us. We love everything we got. We did take out. Greek on a Sunday sounded good to us. I felt welcomed in this roomy bright restaurant. Every one had a smile and was very friendly. My husband had a pita combo plate. He said everything was delicious and was very happy. I got a variety of things. Baba Ghanoush appetizer. It had a delicious smoky flavor. And it was a huge portion! I also ordered a chicken Shawarma platter. Which comes with 2 sides i got these fresh amazing grilled veggies and delicious Greek salad. I also ordered one baklava which I shared with my husband. It was fresh and crispy not too sweet, perfect ending to a great Greek meal. The portions were huge i had lunch the next day. I'm a bit surprised by other reviews that mention how friendly the staff is. While I did notice other Customers were greeted and checked on, I didn't get so much as a 'Hello" or "Are you ready to order?". I just had to speak my order without so much as eye contact. No one asked if everything was ok. No one said goodbye. As for the food, it was average l. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Pita Combo. The portion was ample, though the chicken seemed like a frozen breast found at any quick serve restaurant. It didn't have the Shawarma flavor I anticipated. It came with a choice of sides and I selected the Greek Salad. It had more yellow leaves than I prefer, though the greens were still ok. I wanted to love the Kalamata olives, but I just can't recommend them. I don't know what they were soaked in, but it wasn't good. Came here after a long hike at Lost Dog Trail. I'm so happy I saw this local gem featured on the Yelp page. This restaurant seems so authentic and all of the items I chose seemed so fresh and flavorful. The baba ghannoj was the best I've had in AZ so far. It was fresh, flavorful and had the right mix of spices and oil. The pita was the usual run of the mill bread which did the trick. The lamb gyro was a good portion and the meat was cooked perfectly. The fries were also on point as well. I can't say enough great things about this place. The only negative is that I live so far away :(. This was our first lunch here. Mt wife ordered the shawarma combo with a salad and I had the gyro combo with fries. My wife had a very large portion of spiced chicken and the salad was good but nothing special. My gyro wasn't as big as I'd expected. Our go to place is Chicago Gyros and their portions are huge. I could tell the tzatziki was homemade though. Again, the fries weren't crisp but there were a bunch of them. The guy that took our order was super friendly and the order arrived quickly considering the amount of people there. But I doubt we'll return. read more

Popped into PitaDale last week after some business I had at the AT&T store next door. I finished up around lunchtime and thought a Gyro would be a tasty choice for lunch. Walked in and there was not a wait to order...I think I just hit it right as 10 minutes later there was a line to order food. Ordered the Gyro with a side of french fries. The Gyro meat had nice flavor, but others I have had delivered more flavor than this one. Also, the tzatziki sauce was a little thin and watery. I make a version of tzatziki myself at home as a dip for cucumbers and veggies, so I think a thicker more flavorful version would be nice. The fries I got as a side were tasty but could have been a little hotter. PitaDale is not bad, just not great. Would I eat here again? Of course. The food was good, the prices were reasonable, the restaurant was clean and the staff was polite and friendly. For a quick service, casual place to get some Greek food, I would recommend, as long as you set your expectation for good...but not great food. read more
