I was staying nearby for the Mesa Marathon. I stopped here after the race to pick up lunch. It was located in Gateview Park and was pretty easy to find. Although the place looked rather empty at prime lunch time, I wanted to give them a try. Most customers seemed to be doing to-go orders as well. I ordered their ribeye beef kabob plate and took it back to my room to enjoy. The lady working out front was very nice and friendly. The guys in the kitchen were a talkative bunch. I didn't understand them and I wasn't in a hurry so I didn't mind if it took a tad longer for the food to be ready. The food was good and was perfect for a post-marathon meal!

I got the beef and lamb salad

Stopped by for a quick lunch for the first time. Food was amazing and big portions too. Very friendly staff. The cook Haydar was friendly and inviting. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

I got the shishtawook plate and was so excited to eat this up because it smelt good and looked delicious. Let me start with the positive, staff is friendly and the rice was literally some of the best tasting and seasoned rice I've ever had. However, the chicken was very chewy and tough to eat. I don't think they are using quality chicken which sucks. I was only able to eat one piece and couldn't get myself to eat the rest. The hummus was ok, smooth but didn't taste like much. Overall, pretty disappointing for the price.

    Perfectly seasoned fries.

Today we returned for lunch and it was again delightful. We both had the beef shawarma pitas with garlic sauce and split an order of the best fries we've ever eaten. Holy cow we will be back again soon.

Another nasty falafel from a hot and unfriendly place. The lettuce hiding inside the falafel tube was black and disgusting. The falafel was grainy and undercooked and tasteless and a gangly green color. The hostess barely could say hello and thanks and they obviously do not care to use the air conditioning on a 110 day. $10 waste. Nasty

OUTSTANDING FOOD. When I walked in the restaurant was extremely clean. All the tables were clean and filled with utensils, condiments and such a clean table top! It made me want to sit there and eat and I would have had I not had to rush back to work. The menu wasn't too crowded with tons and tons of dishes to choose from which was helpful since it was my first visit. I chose the gyro plate which came with gyro meat (a generous portion), delicious rice, a yummy fresh salad and the BEST hummus I've had in quite a while. They even packed a side of warm pita bread which as a delightful addition for the hummus. The minute I brought it back to the office it was still piping hot and absolutely delicious. So delicious that I called the restaurant to thank them and share truly how much I enjoyed my meal and was so happy I stopped by! Furthermore told them they acquired a new reoccurring customer! :)

Devious food and great service. Popped in after my workout and I was so hungry and this place delivered! I had the chicken schwarma platter with chicken, rice, a salad, and hummus. Served with a warm pita. Oh so delicious! The hummus was flavorful, the chicken tender, everything was delish. I will definitely be back.

Slender shwarma tube of mostly burnt tiny chicken bits in a raw-ish tortilla.

Being new to the area I was excited to try new shwarma places, I tried another place a couple of days ago and it was great so I thought I'd give this place a try. Sadly I'm one out of two, as this food and experience were both seriously lacking. The attendant although not rude wasn't very attentive/friendly either (lots of looking at his phone). By the way the place was empty when I arrived. Mediocre would be a compliment as to the quality of the food I was served. The chicken wrap I ordered was a slender tube filled with mostly burnt tiny bits of chicken. The tortilla itself tasted semi-raw. Then there's the side of mayo? I think it was supposed to be hummus but had a mayo like look and consistency...except it was also somewhat runny! This for over $19?! Btw their pricing seems to be all over the place as well. They have big posters on their doors advertising $11.xx (or $12.xx) chicken or beef shawarma combos, on their website they have a combo and a plate for two different prices one of which $17.95...so I was charged that amount I think? I don't know for sure because the attendant didn't provide me a receipt. I guess have to see if I can go two for three with this place on my never return list.

When I say this is the best Mediterranean food my wife and I have had is an understatement. They have the best garlic sauce, amazing rice not over cooked or mushy, and chicken shawarma perfectly seasoned! I have to shout out their lentil soup, perfect consistency and amazing taste. We go here once a week!

False advertisement. The beef shawarma combo is $18.95 not $12.99.

The food was decent, but definitely overpriced. The sign outside clearly advertised a beef shawarma sandwich combo with fries and a drink for $12.99. We ordered two of those combos, but it was actually $18.95 each, over $40 total. After noticing the sign again from the car, we went back inside to ask about the price difference. The staff dismissed it, saying it was a "different combo," which made no sense since nothing was explained when we placed the order. To make it worse, they laughed about it as we left. The $12.99 combo isn't listed anywhere inside, only outside the door, which feels misleading. Between the rude service and the bait-and-switch pricing, I left regretting not going to Detroit Coney Grill next door instead.

Counter and the machine that wants you to tip even before they fix your order.

We brought family from out of town and had a party of 11 (six adults and five kids). There was a long wait, which we completely understood. We spent the time at the bar where the service was excellent, and the kids browsed the nearby shops. Unfortunately, once we were seated, the experience went downhill. Our server seemed to have little sense of urgency. Everything took an unusually long time, but the biggest issue was the food, which took well over an hour despite being a very simple order of burgers, sandwiches, and other basic menu items. Throughout the wait, we watched tables seated after us receive their food and leave while we were still waiting. The most frustrating part was the lack of communication. Rather than checking in or providing an update, our server was frequently visible chatting with coworkers and rolling silverware. When our food finally arrived, it was at best room temperature, making it seem like it had been sitting for quite a while before being brought to the table. We asked to speak with a manager, who said she would look into it, but never returned to follow up. That lack of acknowledgment or accountability was even more disappointing than the delay itself. We declined the offer of dessert because we needed to get the kids home, yet instead of bringing the check promptly, our server spent additional time clearing the table before finally processing our payment. As someone who has worked as a server, I understand that delays happen and kitchens get backed up. What makes the difference is communication, ownership, and making guests feel like their time matters. None of that happened here. It's unfortunate because we've had good experiences in the past, but this visit left us embarrassed that we chose this restaurant to host visiting family.

A few months ago I went to their grand brunch which is AYCE and drink for about $55 a person. It was great, multiple stations, different options, a full entree and the entire experience was very lively. Today I went and it was a completely different experience but the "offering" was supposedly the same. Many stations were missing, there was no music, section was very slim and additional fees kept getting added to our bill. It was a friend's birthday and we had a large party. Cala did not get back to us about reservations for WEEKS we finally got in contact with someone and they added a 6% service charge, 20% gratuity, 3% admin fee and a $25 cake cutting fee (mind you they offered to cut the cake + we brought our own plates). We DID NOT ASK. They kept providing misleading information as their website states they have the brunch on the weekend but the admin stated they didn't. We asked to schedule on Sunday but they somehow scheduled us on Saturday. Overall it was a terrible experience and they supposedly could not make any accommodations on the additional charges. I'm tired of places in Old Town charging additional fees just because it's Old Town. There is nothing special here. An AYCE brunch is nice especially in Scottsdale but when their selections are different and a smaller selection each time I go it's not something that is favorable + ideal for a foodie who expects top tier service and food with it being $55+ a person. I would skip this entire experience as it's not worth the price tag and hassle.
