Years ago, we typically went to Pisces once or twice a summer for good seafood. We had not been for a number of years and decided to stop in. They've expanded bar seating and we were able to get two. It remains a tiny place but is nicely decorated--all coastal. Our server was great. We enjoyed very good cocktails, smoked salmon appetizer, and shared the ahi tuna special which was fabulous. This is the second time we have had a terrible experience here. First time we made a reservation over 4th weekend one of the workers called to confirm and when we arrived they had no reservation for us, they never offered us an alternative option or a drink basically just said you need to leave . It was 4 th weekend so no option to find a reservation anywhere else. Next visit we arrived at 7:27 and the hostess said your reservation isn't until 7:30 you can wait outside. We went to the bar to grab a drink but we should have left this lady needs a lesson in customer service. We did not sit until close to 8:00,. Shout out to Karen the hostess. We called with questions about the seating, she clarified and then was able to get us a better table when someone canceled. I also saw her working the room as the night went on, assisting sting the servers and chatting with diners. Our waitress Cecilia was also top notch. She was friendly and knowledgeable. This place is mainly seafood but even though that is not my favorite, I always find things to enjoy on the menu. Always wanted to try Pisces and finally we did! We visited May 5th, 2023. The building is small, but the dining area was comfortable. We had a cozy table for two. James was our server and took good care of us. We started with the little necks. So tasty! My husband had the tuna and I had the lobster ravioli. We cleaned our plates. Since we just came back from Key West, we had to try the Key lime pie; it did not disappoint! Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Are you freaking kidding me? The garlic butter clams are one of the best things I've ever eaten. The beet salad was cool and refreshing and the Mediterranean seafood stew was the hit by of the night! I've been coming here since they opened and while it is not "cheap eats", it IS spectacular fine dining in a tastefully decorated space. After a phenomenal dinner the previous night, this was extremely disappointing. The food was fine, but the experience was frenetic. We had 6pm reservations. We sat down to 4 different menus and before we'd even had a moment to look at anything, were told that some of the specials were nearly sold out, so needed to decide. I much prefer to order a cocktail then check out the menu. And again, 4 different menus to look at, which added to the chaos. Plus it was super loud. And the prices were similar to our outstanding dinner, in a private room, with gorgeous views the night before...extra befuddling. My chowder definitely could have used more salt...and the wine flight was just mediocre. But the carrot cake was delicious! read more

Karen (Hostess) greeted us warmly and managed the busy operation with skill and calm. (We overheard her managing the logistics of the small dining area with the staff.). We have been to Pisces many times and have loved it. We were excited to return for dinner to kick off our summer on the Cape. Unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations. We learned they just changed the menu to try something new. There were a few salads, small plates and "boards". No more entrees. Previously, the bread and dip was complimentary. Now it's on the menu to order. Many menu items are now prepared ahead of time, taken out of the fridge and served. The bean dip was cold. The olives were cold with congealed oil, incredibly unappetizing. We got a beet salad which was fine. The shrimp toast was good. The idea of "boards" was enticing, but unfortunately fell flat. The Chatham board was fine. A small bowl of lobster chowder, lobster salad slider, shrimp cocktail. The soup was fine. The lobster salad did not seem fresh. The shrimp cocktail was very good. The cocktails were good, but second round tasted very different and watered down. As disappointing as the meal was, the dessert was fantastic! Delicious lemon cake with mascarpone and blueberry. Soooo good. Our waitress was very nice and receptive to our feedback. Pisces has always been a sought after destination, but we may wait awhile before returning in hopes it returns to the way it was. read more

Either this spot is a bit overhyped or I caught them on an off night. I came here on a Thursday evening, sat outside under the tent. They did a great job limiting contact with COVID. My wife and I have been wanting to try it for years as it is just down the street from where we stay, but reservations can be really hard as it is a small restaurant, so this worked out! The staff was friendly and the service good. I got a reasonably priced bottle of white wine which was great. The food just didn't pop for me or my wife. We started with a blistered peppers and edamame appetizer and a summer salad (gorgonzola, peaches). The salad was better. The peppers appetizer didn't have all that much spice or seasoning, tasted kind of bland. The salad was above average, but lacking texture and overdressed. For mains I got a lobster ravioli which I promptly ate all of. There were nice big chunks of lobster. The ravioli was nicely crafted. The sauce itself though lacked some depth of flavor - this is a dish that can really pack a punch and it didn't do that, but was definitely good. My wife's Hake dish was probably the best thing I tried. She was not raving about it, but we both enjoyed it. The dessert was probably the biggest disappointment - homemade strawberry shortcake. I was so looking forward to it. The pastry was well made, but the strawberry slurry was off the strawberries kind of got drowned out in the pastry and cream. I considered a 4, because it really was a nice experience, but there are some great restaurants just down the road in Harwichport and Dennis, and the food we had this particular night just didn't match up. read more

It's a solid good in the context of the social distancing era. The service was competent and friendly. Everyone is working hard. The food was not what we expected for the caliber of restaurant it purports to be. The Mediterranean seafood stew was not suggestive of some Mediterranean cuisine, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Moroccan, etc. The soup was tomato based spiked with a jalapeno pepper. The mussels were not well cleaned, and the all had sand. The calamari appetizer was uninspiring. The seafood chowder and cold cucumber soup were excellent. The corn meal bread hake was also excellent. The flounder on a bed of risotto was ok. It's a good restaurant, but ask questions about how your chosen dish is made if your expecting fidelity to description. read more

I have been very fortunate in my life to try some of the finest food this world has to offer. I've eaten paella in Barcelona, I've eaten gnocchi in Florence, hell I grew up 45 minutes away from Reginas. When I tell you that I just had one of the greatest meals of my life, I promise you it is not in jest or coming from an uninformed place. Pisces is without a doubt, one of the best restaurants on this planet. From start to finish I was blown away. Lobster and corn chowder left us all speechless. The grilled Spanish octopus melted in my mouth like butter. And the Lobster Bolognese... I mean, I might never eat lobster again. I honestly might allow that to be the memory of lobster that I die having. It tasted like the Chef had been working on a lobster stock for 6 months and used 1,000 lobsters just for the flavor. Literally to die for. Ohh and a tres leches cake that would knock anyone on there ass. If you find yourself down the cape and you're looking for something to remember for ever, head down to Pisces and give yourself a treat. You deserve it. read more

Add Pisces to your must visit list when visiting the Cape. We have our favorite restaurants we go to while in Chatham and wanted to try a new place. Reservations are a necessity, and it is suggested you valet. We especially wanted fresh dishes, and they were delectable and delicious! The drinks were spot on, and the dishes were perfectly crafted! We had a phenomenal experience, from the appetizers and salads to our main courses! The Calamari was fresh and had enough to share. The cheese assortment was a local creation and had a casual elegance with bursts of flavor. The shrimp with asparagus and prosciutto had a beautiful parmesan and lemon cream sauce with fresh basil. I tried a bite of the trout, and it was cooked to perfection and juicy. The risotto was fabulous! The fisherman's stew with full of shrimp, mussels, clams, calamari, and haddock! A real gem. My sister and I went to celebrate selling our business, in the pandemic no less. This was my second dining experience anywhere in the past 6 months, so a night away from the kids where I didn't have to cook or clean was highly anticipated. We had outside reservations but it was in the middle of a squall. They expertly guided us to a socially distanced indoor table when the wind really picked up. We could hold our white wine glasses, but could we also eat our Delicious and perfectly dressed Autumn Salad in the storm? No. The focaccia and garlic hummus had to come inside with us! We both had fish. Very tasty and we filled ourselves up. Here I am enjoying my take out flourless chocolate cake to the fullest and raving about the meal and especially the service. Our waitress kindly put up without indecision about coming inside or waiting out the microburst. She was right, we needed to come inside. Although the heaters in the tent were a nice touch! I've had better Sancerre but not sure I've ever had more friendly service from the valet to the bartender, the hostess and especially out waitress- they were all so kind and made out sale celebration special! read more

I don't often give 5 stars, and i am reluctantly giving that to Pisces. Not because they don't deserve it, they do. I hate to disclose just how great this gem is to the tourists! I'm a local, and have passed by Pisces hundred of times but never stopped in for dinner. A family member suggested it and in my opinion it is the best on Cape Cod. Small, reservations needed well in advance. Parking is valet, but they manage it very well. Service is great. Food is spectacular, at reasonable prices. Truly one of the best! Sometimes a place is so great you might hesitate recommending it for worry the place could get even more challenging to book. Pisces is just such a place. Wow the food is great. I ordered the fish chowder. It was tough because the lobster chowder and calamari looked terrific too. The summer salad was super looking but a salad with so much seafood? The main course was lobster ravioli which was decadent. My partner had the swordfish and she was raving about it. We normally skip dessert. That would be a mistake here. The tre' leche cake was extraordinary. The service was delightful. Only minor suggestion - they should have espresso. The coffee was great but sometimes espresso is the final touch. read more

Will not be returning this summer. Last August 2021 4 of us ( 2 couples) ate here. It used to be one of my husbands's favorite dinners while on the Cape. Well, we arrived and had an outdoor seating reservation. We were told it would be a few minutes and we were welcome to get a drink if we so pleased while we wait. We proceeded to go inside to the bar. We stood there for over 10 minutes and watched the bartender ignore us. He definitely saw us. The bar is extremely small and no way can you miss anyone waiting to be served. He actually looked at us and proceeded to ignore us. We were over dressed if anything and are extremely friendly people. I can think of no excuse not to greet your customers. After a 10 min wait at the bar we went back outside. After 30 minutes we were finally seated for our reservation. Bottom line - Food was not as it has been in the passed years. None of us were impressed or liked it enough to return. It was disappointing. I will say this, everyone has an off day but friendly staff goes a long way. Had our experience with those we encountered been friendly we may have thought about coming back. No customer goes out to dinner (especially at Cape prices) and expects mediocre service or rude service. read more

Showdown at the OK Corral! A nightmare of a dining experience!!! I went to Pisces with my parents and a friend last night for dinner. I ordered a couple glasses of wine at the bar for myself and my friend while we waited for our table and noticed immediately that the bartender/manager was irritable and very unfriendly (and a bit sweaty to boot...). He told me I had to wait for a drink in a gruff, dismissive tone. I waited almost ten minutes and finally he poured the wine from the end of an old bottle. When we took our seats at a table outside I asked for the same moderately priced wine. The waitress then --against our knowledge--proceeded to pour glasses from an expensive bottle having not confirmed with the bartender the varietal of wine we were all drinking. Then when the bill came I told her that she had mistakenly given us the wrong wine. $14 vs $10 a glass and not the one I had ordered. (A trick that I've witnessed on several occasions with waiters who want bigger tips!). Instead of having a peaceful discussion about it, the waitress sighed deeply, turned on her heel, and said: "I'm getting the manager." Moments later, the manager (and aforementioned bartender), a Stanley Kowalski caveman clone, appeared again in plastic gloves and said that he had deducted the mistake from the bill but said that I was in the wrong and had ordered the expensive wine--even though he was the one I had originally ordered the wine from at the bar--with a receipt to prove it! When the waitress returned to the table I said: "Nice try on the up-sale" questioning her integrity and she summoned the manager again who in a threatening voice demanded that I go inside and apologize to her. Me, the customer... He then made several more threatening remarks and became eager to fight me! (This is in front of my 90 year old father and 85 year old mother!). I stood up and we were nose to nose and suddenly half the cooking and waitstaff was outside in the outdoor eating area barking at us and making additional threats! This was the worst, most traumatic dining experience my family has ever had! It appears that the old adage: "the customer is always right" has been replaced by: "If you don't like it --I'll drag you into the alley and kick your a$$!" Remarkable. I know everyone is a bit snippy due to Covid, myself included, but this was ridiculous. Threats from the restaurant staff??? Not to mention that the food was dull, drab, and lacked flavor. And my ribeye steak looked and tasted like the sole of an old shoe. That said-- Pisces is certainly the perfect restaurant for any food connoisseur who likes nothing more than to follow an overpriced, tasteless meal with a physical beating for dessert!!!! Once again, we enjoyed another spectacular meal at Pisces. The chef really has her act down and consistently dishes out outstanding food creatively prepared and served by helpful and friendly wait staff. We started with the tuna stack appetizer - fresh tuna tossed with a spicy light mayonnaise and soy and layered with avocado, panko, and tobiko caviar. We usually split just one appetizer, but the choices were so appealing we couldn't decide on just one so we also had the sautéed calamari which is cooked to perfection and full of flavor - some of the best I've ever had. Entrees were also hard to narrow down, but I finally decided on the whole wheat fusilli tossed with spinach, garlic, eggplant, tomato, olives and fresh ricotta. I also ordered the optional sautéed scallops with it, which, again, were cooked to perfection. A really nice light dish full of flavor and really fresh ingredients. My husband ordered the chicken - rarely do we order chicken when we dine out, particularly at a restaurant that specializes in seafood, but the description was too tempting to pass up. I think it was the black truffle stuffed pasta that ultimately cemented his decision and those alone were worth sacrificing a seafood entrée. Although we were stuffed at this point, we still had a bit of wine (another bonus - they featured a Biale Zin as a special that night - one of our favorite wineries and we rarely see their wines on menus), we couldn't resist ordering a cheese board which offered a selection from Chatham's local cheese shop. The three that were featured were all outstanding and paired with a fig jam, really yummy shortbread biscuits, and super addictive almonds - the perfect ending to an all around exceptional meal. read more

If all goes well at Pisces expect an expensive meal in a cramped environment with good food. If it goes wrong, expect it to go really poorly with staff/management that doesn't seem to understand the hospitality business. There's no room to wait for your table, so if there's a delay despite having timed your arrival appropriately for your reservation, you literally have to stand on the street (Rte 28) with the valet pulling into you and the bugs attacking. After 30 mins, the hostess will apologize (if you ask) and tell you there's "Nothing I can do" while they let a table that has paid their bill and has clearly been finished for some time, sit and nurse their repeatedly filled glasses of water. (Nope, can't even politely suggest that they have a party of 8 with a reservation that's been waiting on the street for 30 mins). As you are hurriedly seated 45 mins after your reservation (I would have left but my wife was too embarrassed and without a reservation it was unlikely we'd have any luck elsewhere), you'll have the specials barked at you as if you had better hurry up and order given the time. After a bit of a wait, you'll realize as the salads come out that your appetizers were skipped but the waitress will simply state that she forgot to order them and "Do you really still want it now that the salads are here?" Eventually, you'll enjoy a nice piece of fish while some of your party just wants the miserable night to end and get home. At the end, they'll add a 20% gratuity to your bill despite the horrible service and attitude. No acknowledgement that anything has gone wrong. Look, I understand that a party can linger and that's not the restaurant's fault. But if you've booked a table knowing there's literally no place to even stand - after some point you need to try to make things right. You need to proactively apologize. You need to stop pouring water and let them know you have another party waiting. And then, you need to at least get the order correct. And to address the hassle, provide a gesture - offer a complimentary drink or appetizer or desert - just the offer likely offsets it. As an end to the story, after the family went to get the car, I asked to speak to the manager. Turned out to be our waitress (same one that kept pouring the water for the earlier party). I politely provided the feedback that the extremely expensive meal deserved slightly better service. She agreed and suggested that perhaps the owner could do something if she called her - I wasn't clear what but felt she was suggesting that perhaps the owner would give me some type of discount off my bill if I made my case. Horrible, horrible service from the hostess to the waitress to the manager (the last two being the same person). They have a really good reputation for food but it's always been too cramped and I will never go back there. If you go, I hope you have a nice meal but in this business, it's about service and they have absolutely no clue how to rectify (or even acknowledge) an outrageous situation. Finally tried Pisces after years of driving by, seeing a packed parking lot and hearing very-very good word-of-mouth reviews. We had 2 apps each and then dessert: The arugula/beet salad: nicely dressed, but it had (seriously) canned mandarin orange slices in it!!! The school cafeteria kind. Really. I was also suspicious of the origin of the beets: they may have also come from a can. The calamari: No tentacles (bummer) and the body rings were sliced so unevenly that some pieces were cooked well, and some were rubber. More arugula. It was tasty, but no more tasty than a decent home-cook can do. The mussels/leek broth. Also tasty, and also not better than a decent home cook can do. The arty/asymmetrical bowl was a bit awkward with great potential for spilling, but no spilling happened. I heard the server warn others that ordered it to be careful of the spilling potential. Perhaps a better designed bowl would eliminate the need for this speech? The scallops- 3 of them on a big bed of ... more arugula (couldn't have maybe found some other green to mix it up a bit?). No discernible seasoning & the texture made me ask if they'd been frozen (I was assured that they weren't). The arugula was dressed nicely: tasty & just the right amount of dressing. CARDINAL SIN: there was shaved parm reg on the arugula. Cheese with seafood? Big no-no. Big. The desserts: Pistachio cake & bananas foster. Uneventful. The ambiance: cute, nicely designed, but absurdly loud. Unbearably loud. Overall I have no idea why this place is so highly recommended. Perhaps we should have had entrees instead? This place is casual although I wouldn't have thought it from the other reviews. Ever member of the staff really likes to work there. We talked to our server for about ten minutes and she couldn't say enough. The chef was out of the kitchen at the end of the night thanking here staff at the end of the night. If any of you have ever worked in a kitchen you know that this never happens. I asked if it was normal of her to do this (yes I'm that guy) and our server said yes!! Delicious dinner from start to finish. We orders two appetizers -- the calamari (steamed not fried) and the seared bay scallops. Both were cooked very well -- though the calamari had a tad too much salt --and served with arugula salads. The cheese plate was very nice as well including great rosemary shortbread biscuits and Marcona almonds which were delightful pairings. We suspect the cheese billed as Robinson Family Swiss was actually something else as we have since had RFS and it stashes distinctively different. Our main courses were the seafood stew (served with what I will call homemade matzah) and the lobster ravioli. Both were well prepared and seasoned nicely. Took part in the Cape Cod Resturant week and decided the best options were at Pisces. Made reservations for 8:15 and arrived at 8:00. Our table was not ready and we were guided to the bar area for cocktails. This gave me ample time to take assess the decor and layout of the dinning area. It is a small dining room which during a busy restaurant week contributed to the loud dining experience inside. I felt like I had to yell at times. After being seated at the bar it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the bartender. The bar was not full nor was he making drinks. He was having conversation with the only two patrons at the bar. Finally, I ordered an old fashioned from the cocktail menu and the bartender (second season) was searching the shelves and then had to revert back to looking at the menu to find which bourbon was used in the cocktail. Slightly disappointed however it could be due to a new menu for the season. We sat at our two top and took advantage of the $35 prefix menu which we ordered the black truffle pasta, mussel and shrimp pasta, and a caramel gelato for dessert. Our server was delightful, prompt, and attentive despite the full house juggling multiple tables. Our food was excellent! We will be back to have the black truffle pasta! Our server informed us it usually is paired with a chicken dish however can be served as an appetizer as well. It was time for after dinner drinks. My guest ordered a coffee/kahlua/chocolate liqueur and I ordered an espresso with a side of sambuca. My guest observed the bartender place only a splash of each item which deemed the drink "weak". Overall an enjoyable experience and I will return. It is fairly early in the season which I can understand some confusion with possibly a new menu along with a high volume of traffic during restaurant week can be overwhelming.
