This is the best restaurant offering vegan options in Chatham (excluding breakfast spots and higher end options at Wequassett) and surrounding areas and among the best in Cape Cod. Every year they serve a different vegan entree and you can easily customize their salads and other salads, starter and even other entrees to your preference. We chose to dine on their beautiful patio since it was summer but the inside of the restaurant has a great cozy atmosphere for fall/winter. While the staff is super friendly and most of the dishes were delicious - there's an element of chaos and rush yet not as attentive service as necessary. We visited with a group for dinner then another day for martini and oysters- each time the wait was longer than expected so perhaps they are short staffed. The dining areas seem a bit run down with one side of the restaurant looking more updated than the other. It had a very casual atmosphere. I really enjoyed my arugula salad with grilled shrimp and farro. It was the perfect summer dinner. read more

Second time we've been there and it was better than the first. Service was good our waiters name was Will. We started off with the burrata prosciutto appetizer, It was incredible. The cantaloupe and snap peas that came with it were great. I got the swordfish, kind of like Asian fusion it was the best swordfish I've ever eaten. My wife got the Buccatini with arugula pesto. Viera on Main in Chatham is back open for the season. We dined at the bar where Jules was friendly, efficient, and attentive. Our meal was 3 appetizers, 1 entree, and 2 desserts. We were offered bread which was a basket with two warm rolls and a pat of butter. We started off with two Poached Jumbo White Shrimp. One of the shrimp was mushy and the other was perfect. The accompanying cocktail sauce was excellent and the spice level tasted great. The Tempura Fried Cauliflower, Curry Aioli, Apple Raisin Slaw, Toasted Pinenuts was amazing. The preparation and accompaniments were all brilliant. It was a hearty portion and I would go back just for this starter. I forgot to take a photo, sorry. Littleneck Clams Balboa in White Wine, Garlic, Lemon, Butter, Herbs, Chili Flake were a bit overcooked but still good. The broth was one of the best I've tasted. The Pan Seared Salmon in Caraway Beet Puree, Roasted Red Beets, Arugula Fennel Salad, Pickled Golden Beets was beautifully presented and the salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted great. There were a few beet pieces and the salad was small, but all delicious. We had a chocolate mousse and pistachio trifle which looked beautiful but was pretty flat in its taste. The lemon bar with rhubarb sorbet was also beautifully presented. It had great flavor and was a satisfying dessert. Fun to see the new menu. Hope they have a successful 2025. 3.5 stars this visit, so I rounded up to 4. read more

Celebrating some good news on a Friday and solo on the cape for the weekend. Decided to try Viera on Main for their finest hour, half off oysters. Great and fun bartender. Was a classy place when it was Vinings and still very classy as Viera's. I had half Wellfleet oysters and half Chatham. I told the bartender I was celebrating some good news. A nice split of Prosecco to toast myself. Also enjoyed a margarita. A pretty group of young women came in--yes, a rehearsal dinner group. Guess we were all celebrating! My mom and I loved our meal here last weekend! This restaurant is right off of the main street in Chatham. There is a parking lot in the back, which is a huge plus because parking can be tricky on the main street. The restaurant is nice, but not stuffy and we had a cute table near the window. The wine selection was great and we loved our Pinot Gris from King Estate winery. I actually visited the winery in Oregon in 2019, so I was happy to see it on the menu! To start, we did raw oysters and shrimp cocktail. We also had the fritto misto. The shrimp cocktail was some of the best I've had and the fritto misto was next level! I loved the spicy aioli! I am not an oyster girl, but my mom said they were fabulous. For my entree, I had the scallops which were out of this world amazing! The corn sauce was so buttery and delicious and the seer on the scallops was perfect. My mom had a cod special and loved it as well. For dessert, I had the salted caramel pretzel martini. I loved the pretzels on the rim and it was a great sweet and salty treat to end the meal. I will definitely come back next time I'm in the Cape! read more

Dinner here with a good friend for first time this summer. Burrata app very good. More than 2 pieces of bread with this is needed. Entrees both below average. I had the scallops and they were barely lukewarm. My friend had the cioppino which lacked flavor and the shrimp were overcooked and super dry and chewy. If these dishes are on your menu they should be perfect. The lemon dessert with blueberry sorbet was good. read more

Had dinner last night at Viera. Ordered chicken Milanese; it was a whole chicken breast instead of a thin breaded cutlet! What's up with that? Doesn't the chef know the difference? Also, all the good items that used to be on the menu as carryovers from the Bistro on Main days are gone. No duck egg rolls. No clams and linguini. No fish and chips. My sister and I visited Chatham before heading over to Nantucket and decided to stop in Viera on Main for dinner after reading good reviews--plus they have some healthy/vegan-friendly options. The space is bigger than I was originally expecting, and there is outdoor seating too! It was a little breezy out so we opted to sit inside. For drinks, I went with Go Fly a Kite, which includes Gin Lane 1751 Victoria Pink Gin, Lillet Blanc, Aperol, lemon, and a half sugar rim. It is a pretty drink, and a touch sweeter than I normally prefer, but I happily sipped it as we waited for our food. I was happy to see they had a plant-based option, so I chose the Vegan Stuffed Zucchini. This dish included a couple zucchini "boats" filled with a mixture of chickpeas, jasmine rice, summer squash, bell pepper, and sweet Basil tomato sauce. The stuffed zucchini was drizzled with vegan basil aioli and a balsamic glaze. This dish was super flavorful and satisfying! I was surprised how tasty it was, honestly. I'd happily order the zucchini again, and might even try to make it at home. My sister ordered the salmon and seemed to enjoy her dinner as well. Service wasn't as spectacular as the food, but everyone has an off day every once in a while. Prices are pretty standard for the area, so no surprises there. Overall I'd recommend dining at Viera if you visit Chatham! read more

We got a last minute dinner reservation here and overall enjoyed our food. The mussels were DELICIOUS -- uniquely served in a flavorful curry sauce -- definitely get this. We also loved the scallops, which were cooked perfectly, and the salmon (although it was a bit dry). Service was spectacular. Recommend for a meal, although there might be stronger options in the area. If you can, I recommend getting a table in the outdoor patio which is lit up beautifully. read more

This place was great! We made reservations for 5, not realizing that they only serve "finest hour" from 3-5. We got there at 4:20 and asked if we could be seated sooner. They said that was fine, but dinner would not be available until 5. That was great, we just wanted a place to sit and have a drink after a couple of hours of shopping. We had a beer and some half price oysters, which were really good. Then for dinner we had rolls and clam chowder to start. I had the scallop dinner and my boyfriend had the chicken Milanese. Happy hour oysters for the win! I love hopping in here right as they open to grab a drink and a few dozen oysters. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating and the oysters are top notch - super fresh and from a variety of places. It can be tough to get reservations for the summer, but if you're lucky, or willing to wait a bit, you can usually find a spot. read more

Fettuccine with clams offers a good recipe but the fettuccine was very much overcooked to about the firmness of canned spaghetti. This dish also needs the addition of chorizo to add a dash of life. Nice to see a whole lobster on the menu (albeit a minuscule one- the tail was about the size of my thumb) but mine was served very much undercooked and was translucent in parts. Nice service, nice people, imaginative recipes but kitchen most definitely needs to get its act together. read more

We dined at Viera on Main with a party of 4, no reservation and the only table they had open was outside, which was absolutely lovely. We started off with drinks and appetizers...roasted cauliflower and the burrata. My two teens loved both appetizers so much that cleaned the plates. For the main course the girls both had swordfish, husband had a dinner special and I had the scallops. The Scallop dish was one of the best I have ever had! Everyone wants to go back tomorrow night to order it! Overall everyone loved their main course! Service was near perfect with a great mix of professional yet relaxed, knowledgeable, personable and attentive! What a delightful find as we strolled along the Main Street and happened to find it tucked off the street. We will be back here when we return in two weeks. read more

We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were seated right away at a cozy tabled for two. Renee was our friendly and attentive server. Drinks were ordered - we both wanted Mai Tais -- and warm crusty rolls were provided shortly after. The butter was room temperature and easy to spread, just how I like it. We ordered our favorite frito misto that always has surprises in addition to calamari. I'm pretty sure it was salmon and flounder tonight. So good! Husband got the swordfish with rice and haricot beans. I got the panko almond crusted flounder special with pearl couscous and shrimp also with haricot beans. Both were fabulous! Very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating wait staff. But unfortunately, waiting over an hour after appetizers for our meal, especially when we had a 4-year-old with us, ruined the experience. It is inexplicable that every table that was sat after us got their food before ours. In fact, some even ate, paid their bill, and left before ours was served. Tale of two restaurants: CHEFING vs. COOKING. The former was taking place in the original Viera location in Dennis while nothing more than cooking is happening in Chatham. A one-inch-thick slab of breaded rubbery Chicken makes not a Milanese. Anything related to beef should be taken off the menu. The onglet was carved incorrectly rendering it impossible to slice, the strip was unrecognizable and equally as hard to slice and both tasteless. The NE clam chowder, once beautifully prepared to a delicate semi broth like viscosity is now just a bowl of thick goopy run of the mill soup. Viera, now serving the masses has decelerated in the kitchen. We were not expecting Eleven Madison Park, just the simple focused and curated CHEFING once performed in Dennis. read more

We had a very delicious dinner here! It was easy to get a reservation for 5 on the weekend and we appreciated the parking lot in Chatham! I tried the "go fly a kite" cocktail which was balanced and yummy. For dinner we enjoyed the fresh baked (warm) rolls, the Chatham Mussels, Fresh Shucked Oysters, and the tartare of the day (tuna). All were excellent, fresh and delicious. For dinner I enjoyed the Day Boat Sea Scallops with Lemon Risotto, Sauteed Spinach, and Grilled Asparagus. The dish was sizable with super fresh and perfectly cooked scallops and a gorgeous creamy risotto that was so well balanced with the lemon, and salt from the scallops and veggies. My husband had the Dukkah Spiced Tuna with Moroccan Rice Pilaf, Blistered Tomatoes, Sauteed Spinach Roasted Garlic Olive Aioli, Balsamic Glaze. The tuna was cooked black and blue and although an unusual preparation was absolutely delicious if you're a fan of Mediterranean/ middle eastern flavors. Try it! Another person at our table had the clam chowder and salmon and they said both were very good! On top of a great culinary experience our waitress was incredibly professional and the perfect balance of attentive and friendly but not overbearing. My go-to restaurant during Summers in Chatham. I eat here about twice a week and order a small portion of the Bucatini most of the time, in the back bar. My Dad loves the crusted cod. My 15 yr old kid's favorite is the flat iron steak. My wife loves everything, especially the wedge salad. In my opinion, the best combination of food, service and price in downtown Chatham bar none. Here's a few tips for those new to Viera/Bistro on Main. 1/2 Price oysters from 3pm to 4:30pm on the days they're open at that time. Frito misto (mixed fried seafood) is a great appetizer while your table decides on the order. Excellent, well thought-out specials. They don't seem to be offering a "Surf-n-Turf" (yet?), but, last year it was amazing and a perfect dish for two to split. Overall, highly recommended. read more

Ate here Tuesday night -- Starting with the cocktails (try the Cranberry Martini with local infused Vodka) with v tasty appetizers (best shrimp cocktail we had all week) with really good main courses with all three of us really happy with. We stumbled upon this place during peak dinner hours on a Saturday evening and they were able to seat us immediately on their patio. Our waitress, Maia, was so attentive and kind and had great recommendations. All of the seafood was so fresh and exactly what we wanted while at the Cape. It was our last night in Chatham and we came here for a very nice dinner. We shared the Serrano Ham Bruschetta to start and it was a nice, fresh twist on bruschetta. My wife had the Fresh Black Pepper Bucatini, which was tasty as well. I had the Panko Almond Crusted Cod (couldn't go to the Cape without having cod). The cod was cooked well, not a lot of flavor in the fish, but the sauce made up for it. The only glitch was that I asked the waitress what kind of bourbon they had (she only knew a couple of typical names, so I asked her to ask the bartender) and she never came back with the answer. read more

We had a table of 7. We were seated right away. The waitress was so nice and friendly. My brother and his wife had the duck confit spring rolls. They really liked it. My mom and I split the Cesar salad. It was good. My mom and I had the lenguinne with clams. The pasta tasted so fresh and so good! The clams were big and delicious. Nice dinner tonight for just the two of us at Bistro on Main, though not without some rather odd glitches. First on the list, cocktails. Asked for a whiskey list, was told by Alfred our server "we have about anything." I would have preferred a menu, but ordered a Knob Creek rye neat. B order a Kenwood Jackson Reserve pinot noir. We also ordered our food. Alfred asked if we wanted bread, we said yes, but it never came. I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna tower appetizer special, which came with seaweed salad, avocado, fresh ginger and fried wontons. This was perhaps the best part of the meal. The tuna was perfectly prepared and delicious. For my entree I had the Seafood penne diablo, spicy but not overwhelmingly so that I couldn't appreciate the individual pieces of seafood. The tomato sauce was wonderful, with large pieces of tomato. B had Rod and reel hand-caught striped bass, which came with a shrimp and crab risotto ball (which Alfred said was lobster and crab), grilled asparagus, broccoli rabe and carrots. Plain but well prepared and tasty. I asked for an espresso, but was told they don't have any. (There is, however, an espresso martini on the cocktail menu. Go figure.) Ordered the blueberry cheesecake (we know the baker) and it was scrumptious, with lots of fresh blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. When we got the dessert menu, lo and behold, there was a whiskey list! It had some whiskeys I might have liked to try, had I known. All in all, a pretty good meal. Didn't think the prices were out of line for Chatham. Service could have been better. In addition to not getting bread, our rye and wine glasses sat empty on the table throughout the meal, being ignored by several staff people collecting our plates, and B had to ask for a water refill. read more

I frequently walk by this little bistro tucked behind some buildings on Main Street, but today I finally stopped by for lunch. (The outdoor patio surrounded by blooming rose bushes drew me in.) I ordered the Caesar salad and the "misto frito" from the "starters" menu. Both choices were excellent. The salad was crispy with a homemade dressing and shaved Parmesan. The misto frito consisted of assorted bite-sized pieces of lightly fried seafood - mostly calamari, but some other little pieces as well. I was told there would be shrimp in the assortment, but there was only one piece. Nonetheless, the seafood was delicate and delightfully peppery, served with a spicy aioli. I enjoyed a glass of Chardonnay which paired nicely with the salad and the seafood. A lovely self-indulgent lunch! I'm sure I'll return. Next time, I'll bring my husband. As we always do, we checked Yelp before going in and noticed a few very bad reviews vs many very good ones. We also noticed that the bad reviews had to do with how the reviewers felt about the restaurant's attitude towards kids. We walked in an early afternoon, to a very warm and upscale bar and restaurant, and were treated to a scrumptious meal of Chowder and Lobster sandwich (can't have enough of them during our vacation on the Cape), and a glass of Octoberfest beer. Even at that early hour there were a few people sitting at the bar having fun as you would in such an establishment. We then thought about the kids issue - and more specifically, the uncontrolled kids and careless parents who would let a toddler scream and not consider the other patrons desire for a peaceful experience at a fancy place like this one for which they spent a lot of money. When we were younger and had toddlers, it was very clear to us that we were responsible for their behavior (or misbehavior) and if ever there was an outburst we would rush out with them immediately to avoid spoiling other peoples dinner time. Alas, it does not seem to be the common wisdom any more - a kid is often allowed to misbehave in public while the parents look the other way. We think there are plenty of choices for family experience with kids, and there should also be choices that would be sanctuaries for adults, just like adult rated movies, bars etc. read more

The food was outstanding! The oyster Rockefeller was to die for along with the salmon and watermelon and feta salad . The shrimp was fresh and awesome !
