    Focaccia

Dining solo tonight I was eager to head in to Fin in the Village of Dennis on 6A in front on the Cape Playhouse complex. I started with the Stuffed Tempura Mushrooms with Jonah Crab & Scallop and a Soy Glaze: they were amazing. I wanted another order, and even another, perhaps. The flavors were tangy, citrusy, and meaty. Akin to Japanese dumplings, in thought. I want these again. I also had the Broiled Scallop On The Half Shell with Lobster, Sushi Rice, Avocado, and Soy Glaze. It was fantastic. The seasoning was mild so I could taste the delicate and perfectly cooked scallops. I'd have like it more if the rice and lobster were warmer instead of the cool temperature I found. I loved it still, anyways. I wanted bread, so I ordered the Focaccia with Roasted Garlic Herb Oil. It was worth the $4. The bread was fresh, herbaceous, and spongy. The oil wasn't as flavorful as I'd like, but was a nice compliment nonetheless. My entree was Fried Whole Black Sea Bass with Poached Prawns in Prawn Sauce Coconut and served with Basmati Rice and Tomato Cucumber Salad. I've had this several times before at Fin and it never disappoints. My unexpected neighbor at the bar said she likes whole cooked fish, but prefers when the staff filet them. I found no trouble getting to the filets and enjoying the moist, fresh fish. The bartender named Kyle said he'd been employed there for about a month. He was friendly and benefited from the solicitous waitstaff who helped him to deliver and clear food from the full bar of diners. Fin is always great. They offer outdoor patio seating, too. My only regret is that they're a seasonal operation.

Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was flavorful, beautifully plated, and clearly prepared with the best ingredients. Whether it was scallops, the fresh tuna tartare, or the indulgent dessert, each bite was a delight. You can tell the owner/chef is passionate. A real treat on the cape.

We were a group of 10 and they seated us upstairs with another big group. Service was top notch, our waiter was very attentive and made sure all of us were taken care of. We ordered the sashimi special to start which was tuna and it came with shaved kombu and soy sauce which was delicious! For the main course, I initially ordered the whole sea bass but was informed by the waiter later on that they ran out of it. The waiter was very apologetic and offered to me a free entree (to be honest, I was secretly glad because the whole sea bass was really big and there was no way I could've finished it myself). I ended up getting the swordfish which came with potato and squash and it was spectacular. Clam chowder was delicious too

This was an absolutely spectacular meal. I was a little overwhelmed by the menu at first because everything looked so intricate and exotic, where it was almost intimidating. I would say just go for it, you won't be disappointed. Our server, Keang, was excellent and made great recommendations. We started with oysters which came with either a yuzu dressing or a pomegranate mignonette. I got the yuzu while my fiancé got the pomegranate. Both were great but the yuzu really stood out. Next, we got the oyster chowder, which comes with truffle oil. I have a love-hate relationship with truffle oil because I tend to find it overpowering but this was not overpowering and added a nice kick. We also ordered the yellow fin tartar, also delicious. For the main course, we got the big eye tuna with soba noodles and vegetables. It was really nice, especially with the carrot ginger sauce that surrounds the dish. I was stuffed but my fiancé wanted dessert so he got the yuzu creme caramel. I thought it was just okay, I personally didn't like the nuts and fruit on top but that's just a personal preference

Tartar. This is a lot more delicious than it looks.

Fin, ironically, was the last restaurant we ate at during our vacation on the Cape. It was a perfect send off, with fantastic food, and a great "fin" to the vacation. Our waitress, Keang, was amazing and adorable, with a great sense of humour. Just a wonderful person. The drinks with dinner were very generously poured, strong, and delicious. I tried a black manhattan (a manhattan with Rye and Averna), and a Beach Rose, as well as finishing off with a Belle de Brillet pear. All were consistently good drinks. Dinner was fantastic. A cup of oyster chowder was rich, full, and delicious. I also tried the bluefin tartar with lotus root chips. I could have done for some more chips than what came with it, as you're using them as "scoops." I also had the "big eye" special, which was a nice, seared tuna meal. The other couple we were eating with got a whole fish, which I was jealous of -- next time, I'm getting that!

Very limited menu and once you get past the nuance of the lobster donut, unless you stick to raw fish the dishes were VERY hit or miss. Example my whole fried sea bass was tasty the sauce that came with it looked and tasted awful.

Great little restaurant. Cozy and great food. The lobster donut was incredible. Maybe the best thing I ever ate.

I love that Fin doesn't fit the traditional "Cape Cod seafood restaurant" style because Lord knows we have plenty of those. Fin is unique, but still offers lots of wonderful items that highlight the wonderful seafood that the Cape has to offer. Everyone at the table started with the oyster chowder, which is really a must. Make sure to hear the daily chefs specials. They were serving a duck liver paté appetizer which was insanely good. Lastly, we shared the swordfish entree which was served over risotto and was perfectly prepared. My only tiny complaint was that the entree was just a bit under salted. This would be a great place for a celebration dinner or a girls night out. If it's nice out, sit on the patio. It's beautifully set up.

Nice evening at Fin as first time diners. A nice place. We are from LA, Chatham, and NYC and it is a worthy place on the Cape. Problems: octopus appetizer a joke at that price. The single little piece was literally two skinny inches long. Looked dumb on the plate. Tasted okay but that is too tiny to serve. They did not have squid our night. Server recommended the octopus. Joke. She also recommended steak app special. Sorry. Steak on a stick? Nah. Don't do it again. It was tasty but the stick? No when pieces are small. Oyster stew. Very good as others say. Very good. Tuna tartare. Good. But a bit more please. Our portion was small, smaller than other photos suggest. I speculate they were running out. Blue fin at Cape Cod is accessible. Serve us a full portion please. Tuna entree such an A plus. Pork belly and scallops: awesome combo. Maybe some more seasonings for scallops to take on the pork. Grilled romaine. A good side. Resy reservation system worked well. We arrived at 7:55 and our 8 pm table was ready. So...you have heard my concerns about a few of the apps. But overall we were satisfied. $200 plus tab for 3 with just 1 cocktail each. Nice atmosphere and service. I salute Fin for serving us a nice meal, except for that teeny octopus plate. A good touch of upscale dining on Cape as we were celebrating a BD dinner.

I also remember that, even though the waitress said it was her favorite as soon as I took a bite I could tell it was a dish I did not care for. I ate a few bites and left the rest. It was some kind of steak with a special preparation. I've looked at the restaurant menu but do not see it listed. It was a special for that evening. The restaurant had a nice Cape Cod feel to it, and it was crowded. There was a large party sitting near by and the acoustics being what they are, it was a little noisy but they left after a bit. The lighting was dim, but it was a pleasant evening and the service was great. They had a nice selection of wines. My friend had the Eggplant Vindaloo, which I had considered ordering and it was a huge serving. She took it back and ate it for several days. Another friend ordered and ate appetizers and loved the Maine Mussels Dijonnaise. I guess it was just my luck of the draw. I should have gone with my first idea and ordered the Eggplant. Or the Mussels. Despite being disappointed with my entree, it was a wonderful place to enjoy an evening with friends.

The interior is pretty basic, small tables and small chairs, so a person of substance such as myself didn't find the seating comfortable. I tried: - French onion soup: this should have been an easy win. I found the Gruyere cheese to be overly thick, and the broth to be heavy handed on the wine. - Steak tartare: this was a good dish. The beef was thin cut, smooth, and the egg was cooked just right so the yolk added richness that then got offset by the capers. Due to the richness, you may actually find that this could be all you need for a meal, despite it looking small. - Croque Madame: le sigh, what a failure this sandwich was. Over easy egg? Not today, over medium, so not much runny yolk but a thicker one. This is a gigantic salt bomb, in addition. They serve your water in tiny glasses and every bite led to downing an entire glass of water. It's good they were on top of refilling the glasses, but even then I finished a quarter of this before I couldn't take it any more. I did saunter over to the counter where they have a lot of good looking pastries, so we'll see if the ones I bought end up redeeming this place. The Brazilian Grill, Hyannis…read more My wife and I ate at the Brazilian Grill in Hyannis for lunch today. Short version: The restaurant is inviting, comfortable, and well laid out. The staff is engaging and friendly - even after my trying out the little bit of Portuguese I know! And, the food is plentiful and delicious! The value is tremendous! We are looking forward to going back again (maybe in a couple of weeks ) !! As we walked into the restaurant, we could see what looked like a pastry counter (they make their own cakes, flan, etc.) to the left and the massive "salad bar" directly ahead through an interior window. Once we were seated, we ordered drinks and the took a spin around the salad bar. That salad bar has so much more than salad! It is one of, if not the best salad bars I have seen. Sure, there were Caesar and garden salads with the usual toppings, but also hot options like "lobster soup" (like a bisque), squash soup, several fish dishes (cod, shrimp, etc.), some type of fritter that was delicious, polenta, mashed potato, sweet potatoes, etc. The cold options included veggies, cheeses, breads, various fruit, cold cuts including Prosciutto di Parma & pineapple, tabouleh, sliced mozzarella, tomato, and cucumber, seafood salad (muscles, shrimp, calamari, etc., tossed with a some veggies), hummus, chicken salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, and a dozen other dishes I can't think of at the moment. (See the attached pictures). What I sampled from the salad bar (both hot and cold) was excellent. The gauchos waited for us to return to our table. Soon after, they arrived with skewers of meat (Rodizio) ready to carve for our plates. They carve as you grab hold of the slice with what are essentially oversized sugar tongs. They will carve as much as you like from as many different meats as you like. They visited us multiple times... We had baby prime, prime sirloin, flank steak, homemade sausage (chorizo and also not hot), NY Strip, Filet, chicken wrapped in bacon, and a few others. After a while, we turned our signal cards over to show red (indicating Chega!, or "no more!"). We had a wonderful, leisurely lunch. No pictures of the Rodizio - I was too busy putting slices of meat on my plate! A gentleman seated at a nearby table heard us oohing and ahhing about the salad bar and the carved meats. He suggested we try the chocolate cake for dessert. We all laughed because we really didn't have room for dessert. But we ordered it anyway, and also a flan (I happen to love flan)! The desserts were amazing! We ordered a second piece of chocolate cake to take home! Our waitress brought us a small box for the meat trimmings for our dogs (and taught us the Portuguese word for dog), a box for some leftover dessert, and another box with the extra piece of chocolate cake, along with the bill. Since people usually ask, the entire bill (2 Rodizio, 2 alcoholic drinks, a coke, 3 desserts, and a generous tip) came to $175 including tax. An excellent value so far as we are concerned. Now, my wife and I have a standard for comparing restaurant bills on Cape Cod. It's based on a restaurant on the lower cape that was recommended to us a few years ago by some folks in this group, as well as by a local nearby shop owner who said it was good for burgers. At that restaurant, we each had a burger & fries (mine was a cheese burger). I also had a rather limp and unsubstantial side salad. We each had an alcoholic drink, and I had a coke as well. It was good, meaning not great - just "meh" or "OK." We did not go back because that "burger and fries" lunch came to $110 (all in with an average tip) ~3 years ago. Definitely not worth it. And so, it is how we judge good food/value... Today's equivalent (leaving off the desserts, adjusting the tax and tip accordingly to match the "burger and fries" lunch) was $140 (all in for steak and a substantial salad bar). Paying a little more for what we consider unquestionably and substantially better food and service is well worth it! No question that the pattern we have seen on Cape Cod continues: really excellent food for ~$30+/- more than just "OK" or "meh" food of lesser quality and average service.
