The manager should be ashamed. I'm upset to write this after being a loyal client for two years. During my most recent appointment, I asked the manager about the design pricing and raised concerns about cleanliness. The nail file used on me did not appear to be new, and I noticed debris and residue on the drill bits. When I asked about their sanitation practices, I felt my questions were met with defensiveness rather than clear answers. I paid for the service and even tipped my regular nail tech extra. Later, management told me I was no longer welcome back. (Management took zero accountability and said that this was a decision based upon my nail tech who I considered a friend and was even going to do my wedding nails..) I'm disappointed that raising concerns about something as important as hygiene ended my relationship with a salon I had supported for so long. I encourage prospective clients to look closely at whether fresh nail files and clean drill bits are being used and to ask questions if anything concerns them. From the beginning, the experience felt uncomfortable. She was a little rough during my pedicure, and some of her comments came across as unnecessary and rude. For example, after she finished the French tip, she asked if I liked it. I told her yes and that it looked nice, and her response was, "It's very hard because your nails are so short." I'm not sure why that comment was necessary after I had already said I was happy with how they looked. Amanda also kept trying to get me to text her directly so she could have my phone number and make future appointments with me. I found that strange and uncomfortable. If I wanted to book with her again, I could simply make an appointment through the salon's normal booking system or website. The part that really bothered me happened after I left. Apparently there had been some miscommunication involving Amanda and another client who wanted to book with her that morning, and somewhere in the process the salon incorrectly charged me for my pedicure. After I had already left the salon, I received a call letting me know THEY had incorrectly charged me and that I still owed an additional $25. I said okay and agreed that I would come back to pay the difference. Not even 20 minutes later, they were calling me AGAIN asking me to come back. That was completely unprofessional to me. I had already agreed to return and pay the difference for a mistake that their establishment made. They didn't even give me a reasonable opportunity to come back before calling me again over $25. I was not refusing to pay, avoiding their calls, or telling them I wasn't coming back. I had literally just told them I would return. The person who called me, Tri, handled the situation in a way that I found extremely unprofessional. Mistakes happen, and I had no issue paying the correct amount. My issue is how I was treated after THEIR billing mistake. Once a customer has agreed to return and correct the difference, repeatedly calling them less than 20 minutes later is excessive and made me feel like I was being harassed over an error I didn't even make. Between the uncomfortable experience during my pedicure, Amanda trying to get me to communicate with her personally for future appointments, and especially the way the salon handled its own billing mistake afterward, this was an extremely disappointing first experience. They have presto for gel color but it's not the thick one that is typically used at Japanese salons - I should've inquired about this when making my appointment. My nail technician Paula was very aggressive with drilling off my existing gel; I had to ask her to slow down several times because my nails were getting hot. She also did not soak my nails at all which I thought was unusual for gel removal. After my gel was completely drilled off she proceeded to apply an acrylic overlay to my nails (a service I didn't ask for) she told me that it was because my nails were "too thin for gel" - this was when I was informed that they don't have the presto gel base coat that is used at my other salon. I asked for simple sheer gel (they don't have sheer presto colors) with white French tip in the deep curve style (pictured below) and it came out really uneven and the sides of my nails were really messy. They also used some off brand top coat and told me they didn't have OPI or presto top coats which is weird considering they charge extra for presto or OPI but do not have all the necessary products to use them for the entirety of the service. Unfortunately, the second service produced disappointing results as well. Within two days, the gel polish began chipping on multiple nails making me question whether there is an issue with the products being used. My mother-in-law had an appointment at the same time and her manicure was visibly streaky. The salon also told me they would follow up the day after the redo to see how the manicure was holding up, but I never heard from anyone. The services totaled $200 before gratuity. At that price point, I expect products, application, and overall quality to be held to a much higher standard. While I appreciate the salon's willingness to redo the original service, the repeat failure, the lack of follow-up, and the additional quality issues we experienced left me disappointed and unable to recommend this salon for gel manicure services.
