Pinecrest bakery is so good! This was my first time coming to this location in South Miami and it was nice and quaint. You have to take a ticket when you first come in with your number on it. I ordered the tostada with ham and cheese and it was so good! The cheese was perfectly melted and added pickles. I also ordered croquetas de la casa which were tasty and packed with that good ham inside. I also ordered a preparadito which has ham and cheese in a pastry puff and also ordered a tequeno! Love this place. I visit daily if not every other day for coffee. They get busy but that's because they are good. Yes the girls only speak Spanish but I only speak English. We have used translator when necessary. It's always a pleasure going there and watching my elders speak over a colada and chitchatting and laughing like it was yesterday about 8th street. We all have our places we like. If this place doesn't work. Then don't go, keep driving but reading half of these reviews I feel like picky people are just unrealistic or just want things their way. We had such a pleasant experience with friendly employees and even a friendly customer who left the line to open the door for us since our hands were full when we left! It was around 5:30 pm when we stopped by before heading back to Broward County to pick up some pastelitos. After looking at their selection, we ordered some cheese, and guava & cheese pastries, Cuban bread and cafe con leches. My husband even got some mini pastelito trays for his office. Full disclosure, I detest franchised anything. They often lack that Mom and Pop feel. I like that old-school bakery, if you take my meaning Pinecrest, though franchised is surprisingly very good! They have an extensive menu of baked goods and if you cannot find at least 5 things to wreck your diet, there's something WRONG WITH YOU! I opted for a guava pastry and a guava and cheese. If you like pastelitas and croquettes make a stop here! I enjoy the cheese and ham croquettes. They also have a cheese filled pastelita that is pretty good. I do think the cheese can be more evenly distributed tbough. I'd recommed the quick in-n-out order and enjoying it at home. The seating is alright, but the place is pretty tight. It's all about the food, not the ambience. I think the hard thing is for gringas like my self is placing an order. I had a bit of trouble communicating with the associate who took my order. Stopped by without checking the reviews as I passed through the city on my way south. Cafe con leche was tasty and the simple ham and swiss was as equally enjoyable. About a half an hour on the road after this take out order, I took a bite of one of the under baked Tequeños. I purchased two. Hoping the best, I tried the second one. Two raw tequeños. I called the establishment to get the money credited. Only the tequeños, mind you, not the whole order. I suggested that I could post the pictures on social media either here, Facebook, or Google to try and meet her demand of needing to see them. The lady on the phone came unglued. I reiterated that I was passing through and that this was the best solution for them to verify that their product was raw. She continued with the meltdown. She lacked the capacity to use reason and logic so I hung hang up due to her yelling. Any establishment who is willing to resolve issues like this would never receive a negative review. Not one of our regular haunts and was surprised to see the low ratings. We miss the location on 79th street - so when we were in the neighborhood we stopped in for a sandwich and coffee. Their cakes are to DIE FOR, as long as you don't go later in the night. They don't make new ones and the cakes get stale and taste like they're fermenting a bit. The sandwiches are good but the meat is always always cold, even though their sandwiches are toasted. The service is off and on, sometimes the employees are happy to take your order and sometimes they're not. Often I'm charged for something I didn't want/ upgraded to a more expensive size I didn't want which is frustrating. The tables are usually always dirty so we don't usually sit down. If you're looking for a quick smoothie or pastelito, this is the place tho! I highly recommend the guava and cheese pastelitos or any of the chocolate mousse cakes. read more

Ordered a couple of items to be delivered for a friend and I and I was not very impressed by the food. Cafe con leche, the ham croquetas and the toast were on point but everything else was underwhelming. My breakfast order was scrambled eggs with onions, peppers and Swiss cheese, a side of ham, toast, cafe con leche and fries. The fries were never delivered and instead of getting a side of ham they added it to my eggs. I would have been ok with the ham situation if my I liked the scrambled eggs but the veggies felt super under cooked as if they had been added at the last minute. The only thing i ate from that meal was a third of my toast. The casera ham croquettes were pretty good. If i order again I would definitely like to compare them to the regular ones. I also ordered a croquetta casera of cod which by the way is one of my favorite croquette types of all time but this one fell short. There was just something that made these fish croquettes taste too fishy if that makes any sense. Not the good, "fresh out of the water" kind of fishy but the more like the "has that been out here too long/is it still good" kind of fishy and that is never a good feeling when you're eating seafood. Lastly, the one item i thought would be a hit was also a bit of a disappointment. I ordered a few colombian style empanadas and they were all super under cooked. They were still salvageable once I got home and baked them for a bit but if i had been grabbing one of these to eat them just as they were if i was on the go, i would have been highly disappointed. The food has zero taste. I ordered steak sandwiches and asked if I could change it for something else because it just tasted like a hard, unseasoned steak, and the manager refused and said that there was nothing wrong with the sandwiches because they season them every morning. Not every Pinecrest Bakery is quite the same. I've found quite a bit of variety among them. I am one that loves to stop in for a quick cortadito or expresso after lunch. I find their locations conveniently located. The one on 67 Avenue seems to be very different from the one on US1. As far as the location on 67th, some of the issues were the following : you rarely found a place to sit; it's very busy at odd times of the day, but especially in the morning and at lunch; the ladies who prepare the sandwiches and coffee are friendly at times, but sometimes they barely acknowledge your existence. Their sandwiches can be very good when made with a little TLC but mediocre when not. Recently, I had a mediocre experience. I ordered the "Turkey BLT" it comes with tomatoes, bacon, onions, lettuce and cheese, on any bread you select. The first time I had that sandwich there I thought it was amazing. The bread was warm and crunchy, the cheese was melted, the tomatoes were fresh, the bacon was crispy and the turkey was tasty. It was simply perfect! So I had this delicious image in my mind when I came back the next time and was absolutely famished. But I did not have the same experience. The ingredients were fresh but they seemed to have all been thrown in haphazardly on top of each other. The sandwich was cold and kind of boring because it had not been placed on the sandwich press (like they usually do). I missed the warm cheesy bread and all the crispy, tasty flavors from the previous experience. I couldn't take an organized bite out of it because it was basically falling apart at the seams. So I ate it like a salad and left most of the bread. I guess they helped me with my diet. Today, I went to the location on US1 just to have a "cortadito." I found they had plenty of space, it was very clean, organized, and the staff was courteous and cheerful. Besides the pastries, sandwiches, croquettes, cakes and other goodies, you can buy wine at this location. They had a nice selection like: Kim Crawford, Meiomi, and other good ones. I haven't really ordered sandwiches or any real food at this location but I plan to come back and try them out. Hope it turns out to be a winner! read more

I'm the midst of the COVID 19 environment the ER nurses decided to return the love by supporting local businesses. As a group, we ordered breakfast for 10 nurses. When the food arrived, we were missing three meals. When we called the location on US1 and 67th Avenue, the staff was extremely rude and said we had to fend for ourselves and contact Uber Eats. When we asked for the name of the individual, who stated she was the manager, she hung up the phone. I asked her just to prepared the 3 meals and I would pick it up, and she said it was not possible. I have ordered from this place numerous times and always pay the extra service fee. I would never order from these crooks again. Actually the service has always been good for the most part. My review is mainly about the food this time. I ordered a few pastries, coffee and a tostada (Cuban bread with butter and toasted flat) My brad barely had any butter so it was super dry and the tostada wasn't even toasted. I asked the girl in Spanish to please add more butter and toast the bread more. Looks like she only toasted the bread and didn't add any butter because it was drier than before just extra toasted.
