Following our stellar meal at the restaurant, we stopped in the bakery. We got a Cannoli, Tres Leches, Cortadito con Evaporada, and Cafe con Evaporada for the road. The Cortaditos will be a taste I chase till the next time I make it to a Cuban coffee spot, it was a perfect energy after eating enough for an elephant. My Cannoli was the most densely filled I've had and beat all expectations. The Tres Leches tasted different than the one I typically prefer at my local taqueria but the difference was not a bad one. Our coffee for the road was very pleasant to sip on as we finished desert and ended the evening. I even had half of mine left I put in the hotel mini fridge to drink as a pick me up before out early morning flight and it was so much better than any other coffee I could have sourced that morning. Prices are unbeatable too, 2 deserts, four coffees, and a souvenir shot glass came to just over $20. This is one of the busiest bakeries in Miami! It is located right next to the Versailles, which is an Icon in Miami as one of the oldest and largest Cuban restaurants. I assume this has the same owner as the restaurant next door. I expected this bakery to have a long line, but it was not bad at all! You take a number (like at the fish market) to be served. This bakery reminded me of Porto's, the Cuban bakery in Los Angeles. You choose your items with the lady who is behind the glass, then she wraps up your goods, then you pay for it at the end. I love Versailles the restaurant, but I can't stand this place. First of all it's extremely busy inside and it takes forever (which I know is not their fault and I don't mind) but what I do mind is the attitudes of the employees, they were taking out their garbage with a rolling dolly, hit my wife in the back of the leg, and didn't even stop to ask if she was ok. The staff is buzzing around doing their thing and treat the customers like an annoyance. At the time we were there an employee called a security guard over to kick out an old black woman that was waiting for food that the customer in front of me had bought her, I don't know her story but she wasn't bothering anyone. The security guard even came in a second time to kick her out and then finally gave up when she got upset and said she was just waiting for food. Now on to the pastries. We bought many types of cookies, from the Santiago to the dulce Leche, chocolate chip etc. And nothing stood out, it seemed they used the same dough on every cookie. It's like a not so sweet shortbread, nothing special. The chocolate chip cookie didn't even have chocolate chips inside. Instead, they were placed on top after, which is kind of odd. I came after having dinner in the main restaurant on a Saturday night. The wait can be a bit long but just grab a number and look at the display case in the mean time. Theres a good selection of desserts and pastries like every other Cuban bakery. However, I'm a huge fan of their cheese pastries and cafe con leche here. Just like Portos, this bakery is popping and has a line. Make sure to grab a number as you come in. They have so many different pastries/dessert items and the popular classic Cuban baked snacks. Cheese rolls - these look just like Portos' but tbh i like Portos' more. These cheese rolls are more cheesy, there is a block of cheese inside but not as sweet and not as flaky. Beef empenada - one good empenada! Good beef to shell ratio, the filling ks flavorful and the shell got nice crunch. Chicken croquette - the filling was very soft and it was decent, not too special.
