Cam to CAO for breakfast at my sister's suggestion. They have a nice assortment of breakfast options. I was going to get a traditional breakfast sandwich but my sister convinved me to get a special request croqueta sandwich, which was not on the menu but she designed herself by request and they acommodated her. It was delicious as was the colada that gave me just the pick-me-up I needed for a long day of travel ahead. I had never been to CAO before but the food was good as was the service. I called to inquire about making an order and was greeted in Spanish. I politely asked if anyone spoke English and received a super snooty and flat toned "No". I asked, "No English? No one?" and again received a super snooty, "No. No ingles". I asked for a manager cause I would assume maybe a manager would speak English, but was told the manager was gone. It was only 1 pm. Ridiculous. Had her tone been kind and apologetic I wouldn't have had a problem, but the rude attitude to her tone was insulting and ridiculous. So entitled sounding about not having a single employee capable of speaking some English. I will not return here again, ever. There are a million bakeries to choose from and I ended up using Pinecrest Bakery instead, where they were polite and helpful, and able to speak English. read more

Ordering a large coffee should be a simple hassle free process but not here. They want to force you to buy a plastic "reusable" cup for $9.99. I don't want your crappy plastic cup. How about offering a large sized coffee in a throw away cup like every other coffee shop does! I have a love/hate for CAO. On one hand, I love their fresh baked goods (Cuban bread, pastries, empanadas, etc) and cortadito. Prices are reasonable and customer service is mostly great (except for the below instance). The cafe is extremely clean, with plenty of seating. If not for the below incident, this could have been a 4 star review. And now for the hate: we ordered a custom birthday cake from CAO, for a terminally ill family member who was in hospice care. This would most likely have been his last birthday cake. He was turning 60. We pre-ordered a chocolate layer cake, and asked them to write Happy 60th Birthday on the cake. They said no problem. Seemed simple enough, right? Wrong!! When we picked up the cake, it was a generic cake. Nothing was written on the cake. When we showed them our receipt, with the Happy 60th Birthday message clearly written on the receipt, they just shook their heads and said no, they can't do it. WTF?!?! If they couldn't do it, why did they agree to do it? We would have ordered the cake from another bakery! It was bad enough that it was a generic cake (probably from their stale premade cakes in their display) but to add insult to injury, they just dismissed us when we questioned them...twice! I felt that they took advantage of us since we didn't speak Spanish, and knew we were at a disadvantage since we needed the cake that day. Totally unprofessional and I discourage everyone from ordering a special cake from them. Promises are not met and what you order is not what you get. Unfortunately, this will be my family members last birthday cake ever. I'm just glad we bought special "60" candles from Walgreens to put on the cake! CAO...you are cold-hearted...Shame on you!! This is a fabulous small chain bakery. Usually, when you hear "small chain" bakery, that's the Chain of Fools. Volume is seldom friendly to quality baked goods. Don't believe me? Ask Bodegon. Or Starbucks. Their pan-Latin selections were off-the-chain good. Pandebono, croquettas, pastelitos de carne, were some of the best that I've had in South Florida. There are some bakeries that can turn out pretty good product, but fall flat on coffee. Even in Miami Beach, where great coffee should be a given, there is a lot of pricey, yet terrible, bakery-slung coffee. Here, the coffee was awesome! Counter staff was equally great. Super-nice in both Spanish and English. They have great seating. Killer ambience. Limited parking, but hey, they have a little. Consider the neighborhood. It hides in a strip mall. Today was my second time here-and my last. I love pan con lechon. It's my go to at any Cuban establishment. Today I ordered it, and was given my sandwich without onions. For those unaware- this sandwich is a flavorful combo of marinated pork, grilled onions and Cuban bread. I pointed out that the onions were missing. What's weird is that was exactly what happened the last time I was here. I was on my way to catch a flight so, unfortunately, I didn't have time to turn around and get it fixed. So, back to today, I was given my sandwich (with onions) in the original packaging. I get to my car and open it-it was a pile of pork, onions and bread thrown together (see the photo). If I was conspiracy minded- I would assume this was an act of aggression. I put everything back together and enjoyed my pan con lechon. I simply don't understand why it's so hard to put together 3 things- especially when it's listed on the menu. read more

Let's talk cafe con leche- very good and the fact that they offer a carafe of it is great. Croquetas do leave much to be desired as the last six times (because i keep coming back for that cafe con leche and crispy bacon) are always burned, dark brown and oily. I would say thats the one thing i would change at this location. I will say the cuban bread is very good as well. read more

We went to the location on 72nd - they had a great selection of bakery items - we finally decided on guava and coconut pastelitos and a bread pudding, along with a couple cafe con leches. Everything was great! We'd wanted to try Cuban coffee and pastries and these were very good and at very reasonable prices. There were plenty of tables inside and also a couple outside and the staff were very helpful - we'll try to get there again before heading home to the midwest. read more

The CAO bakery on Sunset is always clean, the staff is friendly and the pastries are excellent. I particularly like their omelette sandwich (ham, American cheese and onions) with a café & milk. Today Monday 11/22/2021 I went and asked for the free loaf of Cuban bread at 11:07 am and was told it had run out. Since coming for last two years and being the third time I ask... not bad. I commend the CAO owners as they have made this available and also have offered a 25% off for First Responders, Hospital workers, etc. Amazing folks. Not only is this a great place to find a great Cuban coffee but so many other treats as well. I will def be coming back. You must try the croqueta de la casa it is creamy and savory all at the same time. I love the flan and it taste just like a homemade one. They also have salads that look great and that a great option if you are trying to watch your figure. I recently have the chicken sandwich and it was juicy and perfect. read more

Super friendly staff!! Following social distancing during these times with dots on the floor to ensure people stand 6 feet apart. This location recently opened about a week before the pandemic began. The location is very clean, the windows allow lots of light to come in and make this bakery even more like heaven. I'm so excited for a location close to home! The food is made fresh and the lady ensured she asked exactly what I wanted on my sandwiches and how I wanted my coffee made. Definitely plan on being a regular here. I ordered $56 dollars of food on their website today for pickup. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. We pickup the order and it feels light. The lady says it's all in the bag. We get home and 2 sandwiches and our arroz con pollo bites are missing. We drive back. Not a huge deal as it's 8 minutes away. We come back and they say oops she forgot this bag. We check the order and notice that our homemade shoestring potatoes are piknik potatoes out of a can. $3 for a handful of canned shoestring potatoes. I've attached the pictures so you can see what they put on the site versus what you get. Same happened with our $15 pan con churrasco. Pictures attached. The arroz con pollo bites were cold, like out of the refrigerator cold and had less than half a red sauce and no cilantro sauce. Never again CAO Bakery. At least Croquetas and pastelitos were ok which is why they get 2 stars if not it would be a zero. read more

One star for spending money here for food that is always incomplete or made wrong. I've only been here twice since I wanted to try a new bakery but sadly both orders we're wrong when I finally open the food and won't ever be coming back. First order 2/3 weeks back I tried two breakfast sandwiches and I receive only egg between two cuban toast. Fine mistakes happen ... but comeon who eats bread alone with a single egg... Second time back today I order a Breakfast Croissant and The Original with ham and bacon , I get home my girlfriend got the original with eggs and a piece of steak. Mind you not a big meat person for 9am breakfast. But to top it off the Croissant came with egg shells in the sandwich which is totally nasty. At least their coffee and some pastries are okay, pastelito preparado had very pastie meat looking like dog food , pinecrest pastelito preparado wins them 10/10. Wish the place was better. Looked very clean and nice but the ladies who work there aren't the best for cooking/food. As well both times were different ladies. read more

If you understand what i am saying, this was a very poorly prepared toast and it was 8am! Bread was hard and barely any butter! If you want it to taste good order it with extra butter- you've been warned. Today I purchased pastelitos and they hardly had any filling in them. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed. I called the Bakery to express how we felt. Great bakery in a large space with plenty of seating. Some prices are a bit high in comparison to other bakeries. However they do offer discounts and provide friendly quick service. We have ordered several pastries and trays of appetizers. They have all been good, but noticeably smaller in size compared to other speakers. Cuban bread is usually soft. Chicken salad is delicious. They are open long hours and you can order ahead for parties. read more

This Bakery is a hot mess since it opened. I looked forward to it and have not had a good experience both times I've gone . Let me explain The staff spends all their time taking phone orders and will leave you standing there 10 minutes or more waiting. They have rung up my orders both times wrong and of course charging me more money. When I question them the girl (by the way same girl both times) says her hands in the glove makes her make mistakes. Funny every mistake has been in her favor. Finally the receipt is so complicated that it hard to see what you are paying for. I don't think it should take half and hour to pick up a box of pastellitos. Mulan Rose is down half a block, go there they are fast friendly and won't rip you off. The best pastelitos! The Cuban bread and croissants are the best!!!! Have tried some of the desserts with mixed success. Did not care for the tórreja too much syrup and did not need the custard in the middle, the flan cheesecake was excellent, the tres leches not so much. Want to come back for breakfast or the frita.
