Lots of Yelpers hyped up the outdoor patio, but we came during a massive thunderstorm so we didn't get to check it out. The inside is cute also! We started with the goat cheese croquettes, which were delicious! The marmalade went well, and the pickles onions and jalapeños cut the richness and were a nice complement. Husband had the Masa de Puerco chino and loved it. Big tender chunks of pork, super flavorful. I had the abuela's ropa vieja, and it was perfect. I don't even usually like plantains, and the Maduros were delicious! Oh! And the Passion lemonade was SO GOOD!! Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We came here for dinner on our first night in Miami. We made reservations but it said outdoor patio wasn't available. Regardless when we arrived they sat us outside which is exactly what we were hoping for. Our server was nice at first. Explained all the popular dishes got our drinks out very quickly. I think she stole our table from someone else because shortly after someone came and we told them we put our order in and he seemed a little bothered. Unfortunately, our other server disappeared and never checked up on us. We pretty much didn't have any napkins during our entire duration of our meal. At least that part was good. We started off with a couple of mojitos and their Vaca Frita Tostones. You get these homemade maduro tostones topped off with shreeded beef in a moon sauce, pickled onion, and aji Amarillo aioli. A very delicious dish that didn't last long. Shortly after we received our main dish. I really hate when they do that. My wife ordered their Abuelas Ropa Vieja and I ordered their Masa de Puerco Chino. My wife didn't really care for her dish much. We've had plenty of Ropa Vieja before and would have preferred a congri type of rice as opppsed to just plain white rice. My dish was 10/10. Like in the name of "chino" this is an Asian inspired dish with fried rice, maduros, pineapple confit and crispy pork. A very delicious dish. It could have don't without the little salad on top, but at least it ads color to the dish. The crispy pork tasted so amazing and the fried had so much flavor. Doce Provisions is an unsuspecting restaurant from the street view, however once you come inside and see the outdoor patio it is stunning and full of character! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Little Havana. We started with The Guac, Aji Tuna Poppers, and Avocado Salad. The Tuna Poppers came with 3 spicy tuna crispy rice and were delicious, however the Avocado Salad truly shined. All the ingredients tasted fresh, and the cumin lime vinaigrette was to die for. I would return for this salad alone! I ordered the Charred Salmon as my entree, and it was fantastic. The sweet potato purée paired with the slaw were complimenting sides to the dish. The hit of the table was the Mahi and Coconut Shrimp Cazuela. Lastly, the staff was phenomenal. We had a large party, but everything came out correctly and in a timely manner. read more

When we walked in we were greeted, quickly seated, and brought waters. We waited about 10 minutes before our server came and told us that they didn't have a menu and read to us what they had for the day. We had to have him repeat it since it was difficult to remember everything he read out. We also asked if we could get a different table since where we were sitting was very sunny. He offered us a table outside where there was shade and we took his offer. We moved outside and waited for our server to setup the table and bring us more water. When we came back to bring us more water, he spilled an entire glass on one of us, completely drenching the shirt. After seeing this restaurant pop up on all the must eat lists over the years I can't believe it's taken me so long to visit! We came on a Friday to celebrate a birthday and were seated in the outdoor patio. From the outside you would never even know this little oasis existed! If you have a choice definitely choose the patio! It's such a nice vibe with string lights and graffiti art. We decided to split the goat cheese croquettes and vaca frita tostones as apps. I'm a goat cheese girl so these were right up my alley and the guava sauce was delicious. The vaca frita tostones were so savory and with a really generous portion of vaca frita. For dinner I ordered the mahi which was absolutely delicious. The came with a coconut sauce that was so good and paired perfectly with the rice and salad. We also ordered the Masa de Puerco Chino with Shrimp. This dish was soooo good! It had it all, a little salty from the pork and sweetness from the sauce and shrimp. We also ordered a flan which was the perfect ending. For drinks we got mojitos and margaritas and all were so well made. And our server was awesome. Situated in Little Havana, Doce Provisions sits hidden next to a barber shop. Once inside, you find yourself welcomed by a lively staff. We had the option to sit inside or out back. The food was phenomenal. Made to perfection, it is some of the best Cuban food I've ever had. The empanadas are out of this world, the authentic Cuban beer was perfect to go with our food choices. And, the arroz imperial (imperial rice), is probably the best I've ever had. The tres leches was so good, I forgot to take a pic of it. Well worth the visit and definitely well worth a return trip. Had to come here on my visit to Miami after seeing this place on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Drives. It did not disappoint. Again, another meeting the chef mission failed. What I did get was great food. We sat outside and pretty much had the whole patio to ourselves. The only downside was the waiter didn't speak english very well so that was a little bit of a struggle. Although this is a 3 star review, 2.5 would be more fitting. I visited Doce Provisions for the first time several years ago, and at the time found it to be a hidden gem with delicious food. This time though, the food just didn't hit the spot. I visited Doce on New Year's Day for lunch with my family. I will say that I LOVED their Sparkling Mojito and when I first tried it, I was excited to try the food. Sadly, it fell short. To share, we ordered the Wok Charred Brussels and the Vaca Frita Tostones. The sprouts weren't whole and instead seemed to be sort of shredded. The flavor was nothing special. My brussels sprouts taste just as good if not better and I'm certainly not the best cook in the world. I thought the flavor of the vaca frita itself was decent, but the tostones were overly greasy. For our entrees, we ordered El Churrasco, the Little Bird Fried Chicken, and my brother-in-law ordered some sort of vaca frita truffled mac & cheese. Upon reading the description for their version of chicken & waffles, I knew I had to try it. Unfortunately, I soon realized I'd misread the description and instead of a waffle made of sweet plantain, the dish included small pieces of sweet plantain that did nothing for it. The Little Bird Fried Chicken is nothing to write home about. Although I didn't try the churrasco, the others thought it was pretty good (but that's pretty difficult to mess up). The worst part of the meal was the truffled vaca frita mac & cheese. The sauce was watery and barely tasted of truffle. I took one bite of it and immediately decided it wasn't worth the calories. Perhaps we wouldn't have been as disappointed as we were had the bill not been as surprisingly high as it was. The restaurant's food and vibe just do not justify the prices. My friend made a reservation for a birthday. We sat in the back patio which was adorable with twinkle lights and trees and music. We ordered some goat cheese croquetas for the table and the cuban mojito pitcher to share. Both were amazing and we got another pitcher even. My friend loves the mahi there and was super excited to get it. They were out of truffle so couldnt do the mac or fries. I got the arroz imperial cubano with avocado, which was unreal! Amazing flavor and filling! The chicken and waffles was lacking something and not as good as was recommended. The mahi didnt disappoint. Walked in on a Friday night without a reservation and was seated almost immediately. We had Ruben take care of us and he was so attentive with food recommendations and great service. Found to this place on a whim when the place we were planning on eating at was closed. We got there right before they closed for the break between lunch and dinner and they were happy to seat a party of 5. The group ordered an app, 2 meat platters, the rice, the ropa vieja and chicken and waffles. The app came quickly, but we waited a bit for the rest of the food. We never got one of our meat platters, and ended up just taking it to go... turns out we ordered more than enough food for 5 people. Truly, all the food was delicious. The meat was tender, everything was tasty and fresh, but the cheesey, chicken rice in a skillet was everyone's favorite. The leftovers were equally as delicious. This place is a really great find, and off the beaten (and crazy) path of Calle Ocho, so skip all those insane lines and enjoy a yummy, Cuban meal here instead. read more

The food was super rich- the chorizo croquettes were salty and heavy, I wish they came with more sauce to cut through and lighten the bite. But really interesting flavor. My partner had a chicken rice (arroz imperial) dish that was flavorful but I wish it was slightly more aesthetic than just a blob of cheese on top. The passion fruit mojito was the perfect drink super light and refreshing! Space was awesome, food was decent but overpriced for what it was which is standard meats, rice, cheese, chicken. Took my out-of-town cousin here for her first try of Cuban food. Ok, it's not exactly authentic old school Cuban, with the bao buns, chicken waffle and all, but I figure it's good food with quality ingredients. When we arrived we were a bit concerned about the dining room with not one guest. To our surprise they took us out the backdoor, through a narrow corridor to the outside patio, where there are actually a few tables of customers enjoying dinner in the lovely Miami winter weather. We really enjoyed the food, especially the Imperial Rice. I personally found it too cheesy but the flavor is so good. The girl serving us is really nice and efficient too. The only thing we didn't enjoy nor finish was the Tres Leches, which was rather dry. Definitely a good place to take out of town guests for some experience with Latin American cuisine. read more

Last night we decided to try something new and local. My husband came across Doce Provisions. I was not so sure until we parked and walked through the door. The entire place has a wonderful vibe. We were welcomed with a big smile and seated immediately although we had no reservation. We were 3 and decided to share a whole load of starters, but first we ordered the red Sangria. A little detail; they brought glasses full of ice and the Sangria pitcher without. This ensures that the Sangria doesn't get diluted over the course of the evening. It was delicious. We proceeded with tostones, tacos, croquetas, buns and then the tres leches desert. Absolutely every dish was exquisite. Delicious! We sat in the lovely patio area out back. My tip would be to call and make sure live music is playing, and don't assume so just because reviews state there's music. Despite getting just the piped in music, we truly enjoyed it. We started off with a round of local Wynwood blond La Rubia ale, a passion fruit sangria, and a black cherry sangria, and a Havana Kiss made with rum, coco, pineapple and cane syrup. All of the drinks were as delicious as they sounded, and hit the spot. Goat cheese croquettes took our fancy and they were piping hot and perfectly crispy when they came to the table, five round golden brown mounds of tasty cheese surrounded by a great pairing of guava sauce. So good. Two of us ordered the arroz imperial, one friend adding an avocado. Hers came with an entire sliced Haas avocado on the side. The imperial rice dish definitely had its own twist to the classic, as the chicken was braised in beer. A mojo flavored mayo was also added to the dish, along with white cheese. The dish had almost a smoky flavor to it, a wonderful variation to the many times I've tried this dish. I do, however, try to maximize my daily veggies and did notice that they must have been out, as no garden peas were found in tonight's dish. My husband ordered the churrasco. It had been marinated in mojo and a Bonita purée was drizzled on top. It included a warm Japanese truffle bacon ponzu sauce. His dish came with a large portion of tostones and a small mix of greens on the side. I tried the churrasco, before he devoured every last bit, and found it to be bold, tender and delicious. Lastly, we had an order for mahi dish, but with the addition of shrimp to her dish. The mahi was lightly covered in a coconut sauce, and served on top of aji amarillo. That yellow sauce is actually Peruvian, and traditionally includes onions, sweet yellow chili pepper, mayonnaise, sour cream, and queso fresco. The flavors had me wishing for more than just a taste for review purposes. I didn't taste the shrimp, although they looked plump and nicely grilled, sitting on top of that exquisite aji amarillo sauce. The dish also included a salad and a generous scoop of Jasmine rice. First off, their beer selection was great! Lots of local brews with a Spanish/Cuban flare. The Havana lager was my fav. Mojitos on deck baby! Possibly the best I've ever had in my life. Between the 3 of us we got a pitcher of Passion Fruit Mojito and finished brunch with one Sparkling Mojito. If I lived in the area this would be one of my go-to spots. Out of our 5 days stay this restaurant was one of our favorites. For bites we tried the following: Wok Charred Brussels (with bacon and sweet soy) Burrata Toast Birria de Res Quesatacos (Short rib tacos) Shrimp Po Boys Tacos Disco Truffle Fries We loved EVERYTHING! I mean everything. The Birria de Res Quesatacos and Truffle Fries stole the show. We've had birria tacos before, plenty of times, but nothing like this. Service was stella, everyone was attentive and spot on. We made reservations for a Saturday afternoon (12 noon) but didn't need them as we were the only people in the restaurant at that time. The weather was lovely, so we decided to sit outside. I'm not sure if they offer live music at night but if not, they should. It's a perfect space for it. Doce Provisions what have you done?! After just one trip you may have just stolen my culinary heart. A great restaurant isn't only about a creative menu, which this most certainly is, but there's also execution. Id describe the menu as modern latin with cuban and Mexican influences. Doce is a rare combination dynamic plates, great flavors, great service, all at an affordable price point. Rarely do you get even 3 out of 4 of those qualities in one place...Every single dish we tried was better than the next. First the Vaca Frita tostones. Normally this is served with a green plantain, but the balance achieved by the sweet maduros is a stroke of genius. Next is the chorizo croquettes, award winning might I add. Personally I've never had a memorable chorizo. This is easily the king of all chorizo dishes. On to the lechon Asado bun. I am a huge fan of boa buns, as I've had more buns than I can reasonably remember. For a Latin restaurant to have executed a chinese staple better than any asian place I've been to speaks to the quality of Doce. And we haven't even gotten to the combination of crispy lechon and pineapple confit. It's simply flawless. And finally, the show stopper....short rib tacos. I've been in sort of a birria taco mission as of late, and that is essential what these are. This is an absolute flavor bomb....the best Birria tacos I've ever had. I'm not sure there's much more to say. This falls under the category of 'Some things just have to be experienced'. I'm looking at this menu like man, we didn't even have a chance to try this and that and what about this! Let's be honest, most restaurants are good at only a few dishes. Rarely do I find a menu that makes me what to try darn near everything. And just like that, after just one visit, I've got a spot that may easily grow to become my go to. Doce is officially my favorite restaurant in Miami! Every time I visit I have to stop here. In my most recent visit, I got to try more of their menu items. My most favorite was their avocado salad. I was in the mood for something light, and this was just perfect. They give a very generous portion of avocado and their homemade dressing is delish!
