Location location location! This place was right next to the main stage at Montclair Pride and given the rainy weather, was a prime spot! My group posted up at a table on the side by the games for my cousin's birthday and were there for a good 5 hours and weren't rushed off. For that alone I'm giving mad stars. Cocktails were decent - the cool dip was verrrry tasty actually and I had my share of those. Ahem. There was also a sour beer on the menu that I had to close my tab out. Bussers cleared our table regularly and the crowd was friendly. Good time! I didn't get food so this is vibes and drinks only.
I have been here a few times for trivia with friends. I have tried the pulled pork sandwich, the hot honey smoked wings, the pickle spears and the cornbread. I have gotten the smoked wings twice now because they're amazing. I love a simple classic made cornbread square and they did a cornbread muffin and it had a different flavor profile than your usual cornbread. It wasn't my favorite but still good! The pulled pork sandwich and pickle spears were classic and what you would expect. I will definitely be back as I really enjoy the atmosphere especially for a trivia night!
I came in to try the ribs, and I'm so glad we did! The ribs were absolutely delicious. We also ordered the waffle fries, and I highly recommend everyone try them! I did notice some oil accumulating at the bottom from the cheese, so I placed a fork underneath to give it a tilt for the oil to drain. Despite that, the fries were still fantastic! The process of ordering our food was quick, and we received it promptly. The place was busy but not overcrowded. I also observed that there were quite a few kids around, which didn't bother me at all. It's nice that there's a bar area for parents to relax while spending time with their children.
We were in the area and looking for a quick bite to eat and found this place. It's huge on this inside of the old train station and the entire place is self serve. You order your food at the counter and then pick it up when ready. You order at the bar and are served on the spot. We ordered the hot honey wings and chopped brisket sandwich. The wings had a good sweet flavor to them and a crunchy exterior from being smoked. They definitely did not have hotness to them. The chopped brisket sandwich was good but nothing too special. I would love to come back in the warmer months and take advantage of their outdoor seating and free parking lot.
This place exceeded my expectations. Its in a historical train station . So beautiful. Large. The bar is great. Lots of amazing frozen drinks like lemonade slushy. Thyme keeps on sipping drink was delicious. The easiest whisky drink ever. Highly recommend both drinks. The sides were stand alones. The waffle fries snd dip a 10. Comforting like chips and onion dips. The street corn was outstanding. Juicy and fresh and the toppings hit every taste buds and texture. The fried green tomatoes, with pimento toppings was the best i ever had. Quality bite. We had the works. The baby back ribs, pastrami, pulled chicken and pork freaking amazing. Smoky flavor. Fell off the bone. Quality taste. The wings and white sauce Outrageously delicious. We left none behind. Nice charr grilled asparagus. The tomato salad was fresh and light. Reminded me of homade summer salads from the market. The staff and customers great. Patrick and Chris went above and beyond. Fun games and events going on. Highly recommend. Best bbq up North.
It's a super easy going spot. Lots of tables. Order food up front, drinks at the bar. They give you a buzzer so you can chill until it buzzes that your food is ready. We got the pulled chicken sandwich, smoked hot honey wings, sweet potato with chopped brisket and fried green tomatoes. My husband had the sandwich and he said it was a tad dry. The wings were flavorful, more sweet than spicy. The sweet potato had a dash of cinnamon and the chopped brisket on top. I think it was a $5 add-on, very little for the amount of brisket. A bit salty honestly. The fried green tomatoes were soggy and the cheese on top was tasty but salty. I drank soooo much water. Water spots were everywhere so I was able to fill up my canteen. Was perfect for this very hot place. Not a lot of ventilation, the AC wasn't great. We were steaming! I would say, chill spot with friends and family. Good spot with kids. Just food is a bit salty and it's hot AF in August. Service was amazing though.

I enjoy trying something new everytime I come here. I love these green peppers they have a little kick to them and I love this sweet potato and meat dish. I enjoy coming here mostly during the summer and eating in their back patio. There's always some event happening in the area. They also have live bands.
The vibes are so cute. You might have trouble finding the entrance at night due to no lit up sign but it is so worth it. You order in the window for food right when you walk in. And there is buzzers that go around and take dishes off the tables. The menu is gluten free so for my fellow celiac friends put this place on your list to try! The chicken sandwich was very tasty and juicy 9.5 , the Brussel sprouts were salty and delicious 10/10 and the sweet potatoes with pulled pork was okay. I am not a sweet potato lover but the sour cream mix they pair with it definitely dresses the dish well 6/10. The pulled pork was more on the dryer side. 5/10 The ambiance of the place is definitely hipster and welcoming. We came for trivia night and I will be back at least once a month of it ! Overall 8/10
This place has a nice outdoor space which makes it ideal for summer and fall outings once the weather is nice but this time my friends and I decided to eat inside. You make your selections for food close to the entrance and they hand you a buzzer once your order is up. There's also a full bar around the corner where you can order drinks. I went with a Bulleit Bourbon on the rocks and for food I ordered the smoked sausage, cornbread, collard greens and brisket. The brisket was my favorite, it was juicy and flavorful. The table also has two choices for sauce, and I wanted some more variety im used to about 4 or 5 different sauces for Southern BBQ. The cornbread was dry for my taste and pretty hard. I also wished the collard greens had a bit of ham hock in it for added flavor. Smoked sausage had a bit of kick in it as it had jalapeños inside. There was also a live band inside who wasn't great, it seemed like they were just starting off.
Three means good. How many places can this incredibly large old train station be? When it was the Pig place, the food and drink quality was high. In its current Pineapple phase, it is a pleasant BBQ joint with a bar. I didn't think my martini was that good and the beer selection was so-so. But it remains a fun spot for gathering, which is what we did after our friend premiered his latest film at Montclair Film Festival.
Went there on a Saturday night to watch basketball game. The service was great. We sat at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly drinks. (adult beverages) were great. The food was typical bar, food, but tasty, crowded, great atmosphere, We had enjoyable evening

PROS: staff is nice, rustic atmosphere, food is good and fresh, parking is plentiful on the streets nearby, they're also a sports bar CONS: takes forever for the food to be made, overpriced, and my gadget they gave me to tell me the food was ready malfunctioned. OVERALL: it was a good spot, and as long as you don't mind the wait and spending extra money I recommend coming here. You order your food and pick it up at a counter, instead of a waiter attending to you. That could either be a pro or con depending on what you like read more

I never visited this place but went here for a book club meetup. Nothing fancy at all, definitely bar vibes and it was a Sunday so the sports elevated the volume immensely. Although it was a bit crowded at the bar, service wasn't too bad. However, one of the book club members specifically asked for a drink without alcohol and ended up receiving a frozen lemonade with alcohol. So she left upset. As far as food: super mid. I was actually surprised when I cut into my fried chicken sandwich and it was a bit pink. The chef himself assured me the food was cooked but it just had that color because of the brine. Idk sounds like they should change the brine then. Loaded waffle fries were also kind of gross because there was so much oil. Seems like it's a place locals enjoy, I'm glad I'm not a local. read more

Loved this place! Located in what used to be an old train station, this spot is as cool on the outside as it is on the inside. The vibe is fun and family-friendly, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Inside, there are games for kids, making it a great hangout for all ages. I ordered the Pineapple Express cocktail, super tasty and strong! For food, I went with the half order of beef brisket, fried chicken, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The fried chicken was stellar, juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Everything was solid, but that chicken really stood out. It's located in Lackawanna Plaza, which has a trendy, up-and-coming feel with several other eateries to explore. I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu and maybe check out the rest of the plaza while I'm at it! read more

A beer garden type in the downtown Montclair is probably what the doctors ordered! Perfect set up and location in the old Lackawanna Station. Certainly could do sooo much more to make the space pop, but time will tell. If you show up and the place is busy, grab a table. The outside ones go quickly on a nice day. Inside can be a bit loud, with the high ceiling and old building. Same thing tho, tables go quickly. Definitely community style. Decent selection of beers, which typically isn't my thing, but my buddy recommended an IPA. Typical prices in Montclair. Not much of a scotch selection, that was a bit disappointing, but not their focus so I get it. Bartenders were friendly and no issues with the service. Ordering food process could use a little adjustment. I'm okay with their procedure, just seems it could be a little easier. Perhaps let technology do some work and mobile ordering. Waiting online isn't bad, but it's in a bad, high traffic spot. Can get annoying if there's a long line and people flowing in and out. Plus our pager didn't work and someone had to come out looking for us. The lady was nice to deliver our food to us, but it was cold to warm at best. We ordered many items to share and nothing stood out. The cornbread had a nice salty taste, which I like and think is underrated. Some comments on the fried chicken. Pulled pork was okay. Thought the bbq sauce was bland. Enjoyed the kick in the collard greens, didn't expect it. Nothing blew me away here and sometimes that's okay. Keeping this one nice and short. The place is nice and spacious, but the food to me was not that good. The chicken wasn't cooked all the way through. The chicken sandwich was decent. The Mac and cheese needs more work, wasn't feeling it. The corn bread was okay. short. read more

Came here for what I thought was just dinner, but what happened to be a trivia night, which was a nice surprise! The space is a little disjointed, but the story of the restaurant being an old train station, then a Hollywood Video, and now a restaurant is pretty cool. Got the fried chicken sandwich and waffle fries - both were delicious. I will say that the bun fell apart on me almost immediately, but the chicken itself was wonderfully seasoned and the banana peppers had just the right amount of spice. I don't know what the two sauces were but they were both amazing. It's ultimately a great place to hang out with friends and do some karaoke or trivia. I wouldn't come here as a food destination only but as a social space it's amazing! read more

Casual bbq/beer garden vibe, and with window service to get food and drinks. I can see that they're trying for a local hang out spot, with lots of free live music, trivia nights, and local talent nights. Place is very loud and lively, so don't think you can have a conversation inside when the live music is going; outside spaces seem promising come summer. The food was unfortunately very mid, and really expensive for the quality. Burger was eh (was thinking I would've rather a Holstens), fried pickles were decent on the spice and dip, pulled pork sandwich was served at a wierd just above cold temp (but had a decent real smoke flavor). The waffle fries 'naughty style' with queso and chili crisp were just bad- fries undercooked, chili crisp oil not very flavorful and pooling about like the queso broke and left an oil slick. Beer selection is decently interesting, but the signature cocktail of the spicy Pineapple Express wad adequate- until I found out it was $15 for a nothing special backyard bbq style mixed drink. Happy hour is only Thursdays and fridays 12-6, which is a bit weird. So come for the causal hang vibes, but the food seems really skippable read more

Awesome place in the afternoon to hangout as parents. Spacious, cool and games for big and small. The hot honey wings was so good and the pork brisket was so soft I was able to grab it with the fork. The coleslaw is vinegar base but so good, it complimented our food. Will be back. read more

Good BBQ and fun environment! I've come here on several occasions and enjoyed the over all vibe and food. The pulled pork is my favorite. I also love bringing my pup and hanging outside in the beer garden area. read more

Sad to say that this has to be the worst food I've had in a long time. The Mac and cheese was bad, no flavor at all. The cornbread was dry like sandpaper and if not careful you could prob choke on it. The pork sausage was nothing but salty. The brisket was meh. The ribs were lacking flavor. In general this food was a big fat NO. We'll def not go back. Unless there's a good game on...the ambiance is cool for that. As for the wait staff and customer service...no one greets you, the woman at the order counter knows nothing about the items when asked questions, and they come take your tray away without asking if you've finished eating...poor experience overall. Total waste of $69 dollars. Because of what we paid we forced ourselves to finish as much of it as we could stomach. read more

This train station transformed restaurant deserves more recognition! Had the opportunity to visit during their live music night and was blown away by the vibe. We had three different sandwiches. The pulled pork, brisket, and spicy chicken. While these were awesome the true stars are the mac n cheese and the wings! The service was fast and efficient for both the kitchen and bar. Lastly, if you like spice the Pineapple express cocktail is dangerous good! read more
