I never visited this place but went here for a book club meetup. Nothing fancy at all, definitely bar vibes and it was a Sunday so the sports elevated the volume immensely. Although it was a bit crowded at the bar, service wasn't too bad. However, one of the book club members specifically asked for a drink without alcohol and ended up receiving a frozen lemonade with alcohol. So she left upset. As far as food: super mid. I was actually surprised when I cut into my fried chicken sandwich and it was a bit pink. The chef himself assured me the food was cooked but it just had that color because of the brine. Idk sounds like they should change the brine then. Loaded waffle fries were also kind of gross because there was so much oil. Loved this place! Located in what used to be an old train station, this spot is as cool on the outside as it is on the inside. The vibe is fun and family-friendly, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Inside, there are games for kids, making it a great hangout for all ages. I ordered the Pineapple Express cocktail, super tasty and strong! For food, I went with the half order of beef brisket, fried chicken, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The fried chicken was stellar, juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Everything was solid, but that chicken really stood out. It's located in Lackawanna Plaza, which has a trendy, up-and-coming feel with several other eateries to explore. Location location location! This place was right next to the main stage at Montclair Pride and given the rainy weather, was a prime spot! My group posted up at a table on the side by the games for my cousin's birthday and were there for a good 5 hours and weren't rushed off. For that alone I'm giving mad stars. Cocktails were decent - the cool dip was verrrry tasty actually and I had my share of those. Ahem. There was also a sour beer on the menu that I had to close my tab out. I have been here a few times for trivia with friends. I have tried the pulled pork sandwich, the hot honey smoked wings, the pickle spears and the cornbread. I have gotten the smoked wings twice now because they're amazing. I love a simple classic made cornbread square and they did a cornbread muffin and it had a different flavor profile than your usual cornbread. It wasn't my favorite but still good! The pulled pork sandwich and pickle spears were classic and what you would expect. I will definitely be back as I really enjoy the atmosphere especially for a trivia night! read more

I came in to try the ribs, and I'm so glad we did! The ribs were absolutely delicious. We also ordered the waffle fries, and I highly recommend everyone try them! I did notice some oil accumulating at the bottom from the cheese, so I placed a fork underneath to give it a tilt for the oil to drain. Despite that, the fries were still fantastic! The process of ordering our food was quick, and we received it promptly. The place was busy but not overcrowded. We were in the area and looking for a quick bite to eat and found this place. It's huge on this inside of the old train station and the entire place is self serve. You order your food at the counter and then pick it up when ready. You order at the bar and are served on the spot. We ordered the hot honey wings and chopped brisket sandwich. The wings had a good sweet flavor to them and a crunchy exterior from being smoked. They definitely did not have hotness to them. The chopped brisket sandwich was good but nothing too special. The wings were flavorful, more sweet than spicy. The sweet potato had a dash of cinnamon and the chopped brisket on top. I think it was a $5 add-on, very little for the amount of brisket. You make your selections for food close to the entrance and they hand you a buzzer once your order is up. There's also a full bar around the corner where you can order drinks. I went with a Bulleit Bourbon on the rocks and for food I ordered the smoked sausage, cornbread, collard greens and brisket. The brisket was my favorite, it was juicy and flavorful. The table also has two choices for sauce, and I wanted some more variety im used to about 4 or 5 different sauces for Southern BBQ. The cornbread was dry for my taste and pretty hard. In its current Pineapple phase, it is a pleasant BBQ joint with a bar. I didn't think my martini was that good and the beer selection was so-so. Came here for what I thought was just dinner, but what happened to be a trivia night, which was a nice surprise! The space is a little disjointed, but the story of the restaurant being an old train station, then a Hollywood Video, and now a restaurant is pretty cool. Got the fried chicken sandwich and waffle fries - both were delicious. I will say that the bun fell apart on me almost immediately, but the chicken itself was wonderfully seasoned and the banana peppers had just the right amount of spice. I don't know what the two sauces were but they were both amazing. It's ultimately a great place to hang out with friends and do some karaoke or trivia. I can see that they're trying for a local hang out spot, with lots of free live music, trivia nights, and local talent nights. Place is very loud and lively, so don't think you can have a conversation inside when the live music is going; outside spaces seem promising come summer. The food was unfortunately very mid, and really expensive for the quality. Burger was eh (was thinking I would've rather a Holstens), fried pickles were decent on the spice and dip, pulled pork sandwich was served at a wierd just above cold temp (but had a decent real smoke flavor). The waffle fries 'naughty style' with queso and chili crisp were just bad- fries undercooked, chili crisp oil not very flavorful and pooling about like the queso broke and left an oil slick. Beer selection is decently interesting, but the signature cocktail of the spicy Pineapple Express wad adequate- until I found out it was $15 for a nothing special backyard bbq style mixed drink. Happy hour is only Thursdays and fridays 12-6, which is a bit weird. So come for the causal hang vibes, but the food seems really skippable read more

I am genuinely baffled by how many bad reviews there are! This place has been nothing but solid and tasty every time we have visited. We've ordered from here a few times - the brisket (melt in your mouth good), Mac and cheese (aaaamaazing! best I've had in forever!) , smoked sausage and fried chicken are our favorites so far. We even catered a recent party from here and everyone raved about the food. The brisket was gone in nearly an instant once everyone realized how delicious it was, especially with the horseradish sauce. The pulled pork, baked beans and collards were all fine but not in the same tier as what I mentioned above. I also really like their wedgie salad in the bacon dressing. Incredible family friendly place with great food! In the summer there are sand tables for kids in the beer garden, a movie playing, foosball, and plenty of space to move around without bumping into people. Food: so hard to find good gluten free places so we were really happy here. Brisket was the best meat, so tender and juicy. Fried chicken was my husband's favorite but tenders were just ok (good for being gluten free though). Wings were good too, sticky saucy and tender. Mac and cheese was enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Collards were a little spicy. Shishito peppers were yummy. really disappointing experience with my family. this was a go to place for us last summer, we have 3 kids under 6 and it had sand pits and was a family friendly atmosphere. today we went and there were signs they had hung up with rules specific to kids/ families and we felt very targeted. for example telling kids not to run in the open outdoor area/car park , not to be too loud (in a loud bbq restaurant?!) and basically for parents to keep them from acting like kids at all times. Our 4 and 2 year old were playing and giggling in the connect four/foosball area and we got approached by a staff member telling us to "keep our kids in check because the sounds were alarming the bartender" those were his words. anyways we are sad to say we will not be returning and this place has succeeded with their message that families with children are not welcome anymore. read more

This is a great place to just hang out with friends, eat, drink, and play games. They have a large indoor sitting area, as well as an outdoor "beer garden" with a lot more space! It's self service, which I actually prefer. You're free to find your own seating and just go up to the counter to order whenever you want. Cant comment too much on the food; all we got were some chicken tenders. They were heavily seasoned and nice and crispy, but the sauces were a little underwhelming.
