Food was capital A...mazing!!! First time eating there. Chicken was fresh crispy juice not dry, cornbread sweet moist and very tasty. Customer service... equally as good. GO THERE GO RHERE GO THERE. Right hand to our father in heaven brought a 3 piece with 3 cornbread and 3 Dr pep. I ate two and two and drunk one. I went right back for 3 and 3. I'll put this chicken up against any on the ave. read more

The place is a small, sort of take out place, but they have a great location and the employees were very nice. Got two pieces of fried chicken for $6 which is a great deal! I don't eat a lot of fried food because I get a bad reaction, but this chicken was not greasy, yet it was juicy and crispy. I will most definitely come back! read more

Tried Urban Chicken on a whim because we couldn't decide what to eat. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. We ordered chicken tenders and wings, but everything--from the flavor to the sauces--fell flat. Even after adding salt and extra sauce, the food still lacked that wow factor. On the bright side, the service was great. The staff was friendly, and the food was served hot and fresh. It's a very small takeout spot, so don't expect much in terms of seating. Parking in the area can be tricky, though. While the prices were fair and the location is convenient, the food just didn't deliver enough for me to consider returning. read more

The food was amazing! I got 3 thighs, 1 leg, mac and cheese, a dinner roll and cornbread. I am from baltimore and I have to say, this is one if the best fried chickens I have ever tasted! Give this 5 out of 5! It was very aftordable as well! Plus, the guy at the counter was very nice and provided great service! 10/10 - Gabriel read more

You can taste the fried crispiness and salt they have added into the batter is just right. It took us another 20 minutes to get home and it was still good. We got the spiciest level for the buffalo wings, which was pretty spicy and invigorating. The sauce is nice and tangy. The sides we got were: spicy rice (didn't taste spicy to us), green beans (cooked perfectly with carrots), and mashed potatoes (mashed with skin and flavorful without gravy). There was no dining in available, so we picked it up. It was swift and we had no problems with our order. We ordered through Yelp, powered by GrubHub. We will be ordering from here again! read more

The first time I had urban chicken it was so very good that I couldn't wait to return for more. Bad idea! I took an uber both ways and ordered a 5pc jumbo tenders. Got home only to have 5 small pieces that were dried out and warmed over. I called to complain twice only to speak with someone who struggled with English and each time he told me to call back in 20 mins. I am a senior citizen and can't afford to pay almost $17 for food only to have to throw it out. read more

This was pretty lame. We all agreed you could get the same quality from ShopRite's warm food section- cornbread especially- and I'm pretty sure all their sauces came straight from a bottle. We got the 8 piece: breast was overcooked, the thigh was underdone and pink inside No bathroom, and very little counter space- where we could sit it was dirty from the last customers. Went to Good Chicken down the road and had a much better time. read more

Finally got around to coming here today, I've had it bookmarked for a long time now! I got a 2 piece dark meat, an order of fries, and a piece of cornbread for takeout. The chicken was crispy and had a nice crunch, flavor was good but a bit underwhelming. The fries were fresh and crispy, and the amount they give you is enough for 2 people at least! The cornbread was basic but good. Overall, its nothing I would rush to come back for but if you have a fried chicken craving it's worth stopping by. I'm sure I'll be back at some point! read more

This place was really good and I was surprised at the size of the tenders in the box we ordered. Inflation is killing us let's just be honest. So when I paid $40 I wasn't expecting my (old-school views) money worth but Boop there it is! It was fresh and crisp just how we like it. We went with the original since it was new for us. They gave us about 5 1 oz. Sauces with the box too. We really enjoyed it with the fries that were seasoned and about as crispy as it could be enduring travel. Next time I'd like to try the flavored tenders. It was fast service as well. Can't beat feeding 4 people for $40 in these times! read more

This is good fried chicken. We order from here often. Chicken is made once you place your order. No more refried dry wings for us. The wings are a nice size, crispy and there is a variety of sauces available. My husband likes the large chicken fingers with buffalo sauce. Jumbo shrimp are crispy with the sauce. Great customer service and fast delivery. read more

Best fried chicken in the neighborhood. We ordered the wings in 24k gold sauce and 4 piece (dark meat only) Chattanooga fried chicken, accompanied with a side of fries and Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious especially the fried chicken with its crisp and well seasoned batter. The wings are very sauced up - recommend if you like your wings saucy. The side of fries is humongous - quite filling and the mac n cheese is covered in a rich cheddar like sauce. This is definitely a pick up and go kind of place. Very little s read more

We had them deliver some food to us for a working lunch today and I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was pretty good! The fried chicken was seasoned pretty good, not saying it's the best, but much better than I expected, as I wouldn't come to Montclair for fried chicken to be honest. Their grilled (or maybe baked, not sure since I didn't order it) chicken was pretty tasty also. It had a nice charred taste it, which made me assume it was grilled. The fries are coated and seasoned which I like, but you have to eat em while their hot or warm at best, else they tend to soak up the grease. The salad was wonderful, nice mix of greens and the a fresh juicy tomato, with the shaved Parmesan cheese as a nice finishing touch! The chicken fingers were buff and juicy, not as well seasoned as the fried chicken, and the breading wasn't as thick, which isn't a complain, but you can totally taste the difference between the fried chicken and the chicken tenders, not all places can accomplish this. Ultimately they were a good luck and very filling. Now, as for the STAR of the meal, and I'm not a super big fan of this in general, I mean I'll eat it, but not something I look forward too or bank on, but their CORN BREAD is rooooooooooooockiNG!!! I mean their corn bread was so frikkin good bro.. sweet.. moist.. maintained its texture and composure without crumbling in your hand if you broke off a piece.. I mean, man listen, like I said I'm not a "cornbread guy" but theirs was soooo yummy that I had to show love on that alone! I would give this place 5 stars but the chicken wasn't THAT out of this world.. yet it's good enough that I can't hate or knock em, as it did hit the spot and I went back for 2nds and 3rds!! Decided to try this place out after seeing the reviews. I had placed an order online. Initially my card showed a pending charge for the order so I thought everything went through. A couple of moments later, I received an email that there was a problem with the order. I called the restaurant and they said the order did not go through and took my order over the phone, which ended up being more money for the same items than the online order. ?????? Only by a couple of dollars. Moving along, I was told 30 minutes which was cool since I was still at work. When I arrived it was actually 40minutes later and yet my order was still not ready. I ended up waiting about an additional 15-20 minutes for my order. Yikes!!!!! So now let's get to the good stuff, the food...... I ordered Chicken tenders, Buffalo wings, Fried Chicken, and the cornbread. The tenders were good, the meat was not dry and the sauces I choose were tasty - 24Karat Gold sauce The Fried chick was okay, nothing I haven't had before and they didn't stand out. The Buffalo wings were very tasty, spicy just the way I like. Lastly, the cornbread....... It was on point ya'll Final Thoughts: Overall, it was tasty but the prices were definitely too high for the quantity and quality of food, and the wait was definitely a downer. Would I return? Maybe, probably..... not in a rush to do so though. read more

Decent fried chicken made by white people in Montclair. We ordered delivery and it came within a decent time. Although, Boo Boo was not hangry and I was distracted by football on TV. Ordering through yelp was seamless and our order was correct. You can add tip there as well. I inhaled the 4 piece fried chicken corn bread. Boo Boo got the buffalo chicken fingers and we shared mashed potato and cole slaw. The food was good. It hit the spot for a lazy Friday. I've called ahead before but i had to wait 20 minutes because my food was not done yet and they were super busy that time on Friday. read more

My friend had been talking about this chicken spot for a while and had my mouth watering so I gave them a chance. Love the fact that its super clean. They pack your food separate and the staff was friendly. This is not a sit down type of place, but its not a regular chicken shack either. Had the 3 piece fried chicken. The skin was crunchy and delicious. The side sauces are a great addition too. The order of fries brought enough for two people. They were crunchy and delicious. The cornbread looked homemade and was good. The spicy rice was a bust though. It was hard and uncooked. My favorite was the tip jar. Super dope! read more

Had delivered chicken and a salad and fries and chicken tenders. Was Yum. 2.5 year old seal of approval also.

Not sure why I was so excited to try this place. It was ok. The best thing was the cornbread (very moist, sweet). The chicken was the next best thing. It was crunchy, seasoned well, and not dried out. But it wasnt out of the box extraordinary chicken. I mean I could have went to popeyes for the same meal. The worst thing they have is the mac n cheese. Awful soupy gushy mush. Definitely a disappoint there. Dont think Im driving all the way to montclair for this place. read more

You no longer have to go to a restaurant to get Delicious Buffalo wings because Urban Chicken has got your back. I ordered the 20 piece family special and my whole family enjoyed everything about these wings: the flavor, the texture, the smell, the taste and also the packaging it comes in. The spot itself is easy to miss so use GPS if you decide to go in. I came in and was greeted with a smile and everything was clean and organized. It's a pleasure to visit a business that not only cooks good food but also manages to keep their store clean and on top of that give you A+ customer service. I'll be back very soon for more BW. Oh and I also recommend the cornbread! read more

We ordered take out from here the other night for the entire family. We had both the dark and white meat options and let me tell you this fried chicken is what KFC, Popeyes even my beloved Chick-Fil-A dreams and inspires to be. The combination of the seasoning, crispness and freshness of the chicken pushes this over the top. I am not much of a fried chicken gal mainly because it's usually greasy but this chicken was cooked in a way that didn't give me the usual fried food after effect. Tip: This restaurant is a very small spot and barely has any room to sit down and eat so prepare to order take out or deliver. Overall I am still thinking about their chicken and planning my next visit. read more

UPDATE 06/19/20: I scheduled a delivery order for 7:45pm -- 8 pc chicken, 7 pc shrimp, and 4 pc cornbread. The driver arrived at 7:35pm, called, left the bag at my building's entrance (per my delivery instructions), and waited til I came down to make sure I received it. Yay for exercising social distancing! Anyway, everything today was absolutely delicious, so I had to upgrade my rating from a 4 to a 5. Keep doing your thing, Urban Chicken! PS. I just found out that I can order online from their personal website. I'll definitely be doing that from now on! ***** My boyfriend and I have ordered from here twice -- once through yelp delivery and once through the Grubhub app since yelp delivery wouldn't work anymore (not sure why). The first time we ordered (a month or two ag, we ordered a 4pc of the Chattanooga fried chicken, a 10pc of the 24k gold buffalo wings, 3 pc cornbread, a side of Mac and a side of mashed. The chicken and cornbread were totally amazing!! The crispy crust on the Chattanooga fried chicken was so delicious and the sauce on the wings was finger lickin' good! The cornbread was so moist, fluffy, and delicious!! Unfortunately, we weren't in love with the two other sides. Still, we were satisfied and figured we'd order from this place again someday. The second time (last night), we ordered an 8pc of the Chattanooga fried chicken, an 8pc of the fried shrimp with the tangy cocktail sauce, and 4pc of cornbread, and two cans of soda. Firstly, the order came in 35 mins! What is this sorcery?! While waiting for our pot of white rice to finish cooking (cause we're apparently super Asian), we decided to try the shrimp...LET ME TELL YOU! It was still piping hot and the batter and sauce were uhhhhhmayzing! What a great decision! Anyway, the rice cooker popped and we finally dug in to the chicken and it was STILL crispy and warm, and even more delicious than the last time. And the cornbread? Somehow that was even better too!! If it isn't evident enough, go do yourself a favor and check this place out! I've yet to check this place out in person, but this place is a solid choice for delivery in my book! Great job, Urban Chicken! PS. If yelp delivery gives you issues with delivery, go straight to the grub hub app :) read more

To think that this place has been open for over a decade and I walked in just two weeks ago. I was in the mood for a burger, so I swung by Diesel & Duke. They were closed. As I was getting back in my car I looked over and saw that Urban Chicken was open. I was hungry, so I figured I would try it out. This place was great! I had the breast and thigh combo with Mac and cheese. Delish! I told my wife about it, she said she had to try it, so we went back 3 days later. We had the twin peaks special. Amazing again! I have been there a third time in 9 days, another breast and thigh combo. 4 Piece Chatanooga Fried Chicken. I love it. Can't wait to try their buffalo wings. The ginger beer was great too. Where can I find awesome hot wings in Montclair? Feel free to chime in. I want every eatery in my neighborhood to be great but Urban Chicken was subpar and left me craving more out of the hot wing. I prefer a very specific, crispy skin, flavorful sauce and almost fall of the bone succulent wing. The sauce at UC was okay but overall not The best wing I've had. I was driving home one night from Montclair and saw Diesel and Duke, I almost walked in but decided to try out this place instead. There were a few people hanging around, picking up some to go food. I decided to try the buffalo tenders (3pc) in the hottest sauce - amazingly moist and fresh chicken. Buffalo sauce had a hot but tolerable taste. I couldn't finish all the chicken so I took one home and had it for lunch the next day, and the quality of taste and tenderness held up. I also decided to try the mac and cheese- which was bland and nothing to write home about. I think this place is a solid choice if you're in the area and want a southern style meal. read more

I've had takeout from here a few times. If you stick to the wings, you should be okay. The nuclear and Teriyaki were both cooked as they should be and neither order had a shortage of sauce. They were also average sized, which is enough to make me happy. If they had been small wings, I would have been pretty upset. All wings used to get thrown out before some butcher realized he was literally throwing away a would-be multi-million industry. You're welcome, football fans. That said, in my view, small wings should still be discarded and not re-sold. Aside from that, the service is friendly, and my one delivery experience took as long as they said it would: 40 minutes (I live about 5-10 minutes away). I'm stuck on 4 stars for two reasons. First, they didn't have ranch. What wing joint doesn't have ranch? Hopefully, when they said, "we don't have ranch," they meant they ran out. Still no excuse. Second, I've had better fried chicken from my local Stop and Shop. Why is the fried chicken at my local Stop and Shop better than a place called Urban Chicken? It's not that the fried chicken here was overcooked or undercooked or that it lacked breading. It's that it lacked seasoning. Such a shame. Moral of the story: stick to the wings. The Cole slaw is pretty good too. I like the sweetness the pineapple adds while simultaneously not making it too watery. read more

Chicken wings were really good and 24 k sauce was quite tasty. Good value for the price and were delivered hot crispy and not greasy. Sides were ok i would just stick with chicken and make your own sides as Mac and cheese just processed cheeses tossed with macaroni no real taste to it. Mashed and gravy were ok nothing to write home about ans gravy not that much flavor. Hence the 4 rating not a five. Will definitely order wings again. read more
