$19 for a steak sandwich and it had one thin slice of steak. Even with sautéed onions and a slice of American cheese, there was barely any actual meat in the sandwich. It was mostly bread and toppings. For that price, you expect a real portion of steak, not something that looks like it was stretched to cover the roll. The onions and cheese don't make up for the lack of steak -- they just make it more obvious how little you're actually getting. The sandwich itself wasn't bad, but the portion for the price is completely unreasonable. If you're charging $19, the sandwich should actually have steak in it. read more

The food here is sadly very inconsistent. Sometimes it is good, sometimes its meh. The food is cooked to order, except the whole/half chicken. So if you want chicken, sometimes you get lucky, and you are in and out, sometimes it takes an hour... I am a steak guy, and I would say that they get my steak right only about 30-40% of the time. I like mine pretty rare, and its usually well or medium well. I know it probably has something to do with transporting it home.... But that shouldn't make my steak go from rare to well done. Their master steak is pretty decent, as well as their skirt steak. Flavor wise its pretty solid. Chicken is always cooked well. Wife likes it spicy and she says its pretty good. Fries are ok, a little squishy for my taste. Wife enjoys the rice. Ribs are also pretty solid. Garlic shrimp is on the meh end... So is the chicken kebab. It had a flavor we didn't enjoy last time. Inside is a very cute and clean restaurant. They have a huge display case of cake slices. Ive never tried them. I usually stick to their steak chicken and ribs. This place is GREAT. The food tastes awesome and is a good price for what you get. The best thing about this place is that all the meat is grilled using wood charcoal pits and not gas. Not a huge fan but it's reasonable if you have a large party to feed on a budget. Not much parking in the area. The place is clean and the chicken is delicious but I would pass on the rice and bland veggies. I have usually just ordered chicken, rice, veggies and fries. I only really like the chicken and fries. I love getting food from here! Been eating food from Grill Master since I was a kid and nowadays I usually get food from here for myself and my family about once every 2 weeks-ish. Our favorite is the Garlic Chicken family platter with rice and french fries (or veggies) with the garlic sauce poured on top and black beans on the side! oooooo my mouth is watering just thinking about it! My fiancé got the pork rib platter with rice and fries, I ordered the garlic chicken platter with rice and vegetables. He was extremely happy, I enjoyed my plate too, however, I wish I would have ordered their regular chicken instead. I was expecting the garlic chicken to have more punch of flavor for my liking. The beef ribs were so tough that I literally couldn't eat them. Tough as in I wouldn't give them to my dog. I ended up throwing the entire platter away. Worse place ever!!! The fries taste like they have been sitting in oil for too long, I specifically asked for medium rare beef ribs and they are burnt it to crisp. I called to complain about what I received and they asked me to come back so they can take a look at it. This place is meh. I ordered a salmon salad. It was fresh, but nothing to rave about. I could've made it at home honestly. I added my own spices to it, it was plain. Don't love this place. Definitely overrated. I've been here a few times and the food is hit or miss. The chicken shish kabob is the only thing I usually get, along with rice and fries. The chicken or rib platters are okay. Rice isn't always great - fries are soggy. The thing to get here is the ribs platter that come with rice and fries. You can sub the fries for veggies too. THIS PLACE IS LEGIT! 1. Super inexpensive, huge portions, fast service 2. Chicken kebab has great seasoning, just a touch of heat, not greasy, but very succulent 3. Pork was tender, with that nice springy bite and not overly fatty 4. Ribs had a great bark, meaty but not overly fatty, good salt/ seasoning ~ you really get to dig into these and tear the meat off the bone! I can't think of any place that offers such quality and quantity at prices like these. Even though I live in Hasbrouck heights whenever I'm having a get together I get the food at grill masters. The food is made fresh everytime and it shows in the quality and the flavor. I recommend the beef ribs, the caramelized salmon and the grilled hot wings (they're made fresh so the wings take about 40 minutes). Maybe the only business in Newark that didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth. My fiance and I were regulars here, sometimes up to three nights a week, to score barbecued whole chicken and ribs dished up with yellow rice and fries for 20 and change. Stick with the stuff that comes from the grill, the garlic shrimp and mussels were both disappointing when I tried to be adventurous. The food here is great but I must say that I am very disappointed with the customer service I received today. For the first time, today I had to use DoorDash because I don't have my vehicle. I made a human error and chose chicken cubes with shrimp picadinho instead of pork. I called them a minute after I submitted my order and I was put on hold for a few minutes. Once he gets back to me I explained I made a mistake on my order and I would pay the difference if I had to. He says that he can't change my order because they have already started making it and if I had called right away they could've changed it (which I did but I was placed on hold). I told him I that I did call right away and he continued to say that he is sorry but he can't change it. So now I paid almost $20 for something that I won't be eating and when I tried to cancel on door dash it said that I would not be getting a refund for the food.
