My friend from work put me onto Don Chicken, saying it's one of her favorites. So I've ordered from the DC in Verona a couple of times already and I agree with her. Huge portions of very good Korean fried chicken. Each time I ordered, I had leftovers for lunch the next day (and the food stays). I've tried crispy, soy garlic, and snowing cheese. All good, but my favorite order would be soy garlic wings with a side of rice and pickled radish. Fries and onions are fine, but it's just too much fried for me (taste preference). I stick with plain rice and radish to balance out the bold flavor of the soy garlic sauce. I liked the bulgogi beef bowl, but the kimchi rice just wasn't my thing. I like kimchi on it's own, but the kimchi rice was a little too much for me. Maybe if I ordered add-ons to the bowl, it may have worked for my taste preference. Yeah, you can customize; some ingredients are free, some are upgrades. I also like their choice of sustainable (biodegradable) takeout/carryout containers. We've been here a few times and the staff has always been super friendly and welcoming. Frequently sending out extra items. As for the chicken, the orders are huge, two people may finish a small order if it's drumsticks as they are all full size pieces. On my last visit I picked up a combination of Wings and Drumsticks that were drenched in their signature Sweet and Spicy Sauce which were amazingly delicious in every way. They were totally on point with that tangy sweet heat and flavored nicely plus the texture offered a solid crispness to each and every tremendously tasty bite. They also serve up some outstanding Coleslaw here as well. It's never too sweet or loaded with vinegar like some other places but just the right amount of flavor which makes it the perfect Side Dish of my choice to go with these amazing Wings. Also worth mentioning: be sure and enjoy these super saucy sticky Wings where you have access to a sink or at least some wet-naps. Once you indulge yourself, this sweet and spicy sauce gets on everything and napkins are completely useless. While traveling I dug into my order and now my entire truck is covered in sweet and spicy sauce not to mention all over my beard, Lol. I was so excited that there is a Don Chicken in the area, since I used to always drive to Bergen, which I believe is the original location. With this branch, I was worried about the quality compared to the original and it did not disappoint!! I think the soy garlic chicken is top tier as well as my husband who lives spicy foods. He usually is the type to always choose spicy. The soy garlic chicken is so perfectly crispy, juicy, and tender and the 20 wings is perfect to share between 2-3 people. We also ordered the green scallion chicken for takeout and though the pieces were big, and crispiness was good. The flavor was lacking and they provided enough sauce for only about 4 pieces to be used with the sauce. The sauce definitely helped, but there was so little sauce that the chicken started tasting quite bland without the help of the sauce. However, we decided to drive back to get sauce realized they were supposed to give us two sauce, but they only gave one and the one sauce cup we got was accidentally a smaller sauce cup used for something else. Lastly, this location is in the downtown so parking is scarce, but there is metered parking nearby. Also, this location has a few tables for self-seating, but it definitely has a more takeout vibe. I would recommend getting this to go. This will definitely be a go-to for korean fried chicken! read more

The staff is friendly and they bring out the dishes to your table. We ordered two dishes that were big portions split between two people: * Green Onion Chicken 9.5/10 - The chicken was super crispy and the sauce on top was very flavorful. They loaded on the green onions which helped cut the grease of the chicken. * Cheese Ddeokbokki 7.5/10 - The ddeokbokki sauce was too soupy for my liking, but the flavor was nicely sweet and spicy. It comes with cabbage, fish cakes, and a boiled egg. Overall, I would definitely come again and check out their other locations too. The food was delicious and perfectly satisfied my fried chicken craving. This was our first time at any Don Chicken, and it was a respectable version, just not our fave kind, which is thin and crispy. We had their sweet and spicy (vs hot and spicy) whole chicken and were struck by how quickly the order came out. They have complementary white radish but not slaw, which I was gravely disappointed about. Although there are a number of tables and chairs, most of the orders were clearly for pickup during the short time we dined in. And without the usual distraction from k-pop blasting off flat screen tv or the vibe of having other diners, we sat there and ate a whole chicken like it was our life's mission. Parking is tricky due to the busy location and limited shop front parking spaces, so street parking may be the best bet, as it was for us. read more

I've been to the Don Chicken in Palisades Park, and I believe the food here is on par with the other location! My friend and I got the Ddukbokki and a small Soy Garlic Chicken. Neither of us eat a lot, so the portion we got was enough! The small came with around 10 pieces of chicken. The soy garlic chicken was flavorful and delicious. If you don't like spicy food, I would highly recommend the soy garlic flavor. We also got the spicy rice cake which comes with a boiled egg, cabbage, and fish cake. I thought the rice cake was chewy and a little spicy, but not unbearable. It was very good and I would highly recommend this dish to anyone who likes spice! The style of the restaurant was mostly takeout with a couple tables to dine in. The owners were friendly and accommodating.
