The customer service honestly stood out to me, especially for a casual fried chicken spot, and it made me like the place even more. The food was also really good. The chicken was super moist and flavorful, and they definitely don't play around with the spice levels! I got medium and it was SPICY. I'd probably go with mild next time, so just keep that in mind if you're sensitive to heat. The beer battered fries were exactly my kind of fries, and I really loved their special sauce. So many places have a "special sauce" that basically tastes like some variation of Big Mac or In N Out sauce, but theirs actually tasted different and had something unique about it. The milkshake was excellent too. I also prefer this place way more than Dave's Hot Chicken. I feel like the chicken here actually had flavor, which made the meal that much better. Maybe I'm The Boy Who Cried Kiosk but this is an annoying one. It pushes you to use a card then charges a 3% fee. And it appears that you're forced to add extra sauce to proceed to the next screen. I have no complaints about the chicken itself, which deploys a dusting of flavor in lieu of heavy-handed batter. I like Roosters Nashville Hot Chicken overall. ( not sure why the name on Yelp is different ) The loaded fries were really good and probably my favorite thing that I ordered. They had good flavor and were definitely worth trying. The only problem is the price. I feel like the portions are pretty small for what you are paying, especially compared to other places with similar food. The food itself was good and I would probably come back, but I do think the prices should be a little lower or the portions should be bigger. We went to Roosters Nashville Hot Chicken one weekday evening after going to a bluegrass folk show for the first time. We wanted some fried chicken and we were thinking of our Nashville days. As you can imagine, the chicken craving was real! Upon entering, they have one kiosk to order your food. I sort of liked this aspect so you can take your time. Not the best if you have any questions though. We ordered the tenders with fries and Large Loaded Fries Crispy fries. They come with creamy mac & cheese, topped with two tenders chopped into bite-sized pieces, and topped with their Rooster's Sauce. When I return, I would order the one order of the loaded fries. The ambiance is very order and go - bareburger meets Chick-fil-A. The staff behind the counter were hospitable and kind. They were even singing as they were listening to music. They seemed really happy. I love all cuisines and I suppose my review would just be that I felt like I had ordered halal food and not Nashville fried chicken. I felt like I was eating halal food and it was not street cart meat and felt comfortable to be eating inside in Montclair. I was so excited to finally try one of the Nashville hot chicken places and this one did not disappoint! I ordered the chicken slider with fries, a side of fried pickles, and my husband got the chicken and waffle. The slider looks deceptively small but WOW it was so filling because the chicken tender had so much meat. The fries were super good - crunchy and so much flavor. I love everything about this place. It's so yummy and they let you sample the seasonings. The staff is friendly and the place is well kept. This was my first visit to Rooster's Nashville Hot Chicken. It was a Sunday at noon. I ordered the 2 Tender Combo at Hot level which is a 4 out of 5 on the spicy scale from the front counter. I paid, received a cup for the fountain drinks then took a seat. My meal was delivered to me promptly. I enjoyed my meal while listening to hip hop tunes and watching the Pilates class across the street. Well, Hot was hot as I found myself soaking my mouth in soda to cool off. We asked to cancel our order since they had not even started on it, and the manager said she'll take care of it and there was no need for us to wait for confirmation. After the show, we decided to try our luck again at Rooster's and the manager told us she actually forgot to cancel our earlier order, so we just said we wanted the same thing. We waited about 40 minutes before I went up to the counter to check on our order, which they hadn't even started on yet. During our wait, a steady stream of Uber Eats and Doordash orders were getting prioritized before the dine-in orders, so the small seating area was crowded by drivers waiting for pick up. Meanwhile, seating was pretty limited since the dine-in orders were not prioritized, so a lot of people were sitting at tables without any food. The sliders and fries were actually delicious when we finally received them, but overall order management and prioritization leaves much to be desired if you're looking to actually sit and eat in the restaurant. read more

We got the tenders, wings, and the fried pickles. Overall the service was quick and the workers were very nice. The mild version is fairly spicy, and the medium is even hotter. Keep this in mind when selecting a spice level! The fried pickles were a welcome surprise, but very salty. I found myself guzzling water the rest of the night. Overall the breading is excellent and the Rooster sauce is delicious. Honestly, the fries were the best part of this meal! They were perfectly crisp on the outside while still being soft on the inside. My only issue with this place is the price. Spent about $20 each for the meal which is a lot for a quick-service place. I'm not the biggest hot chicken fan so I'm not sure if I will be back anytime soon, but it's a good place to have in my back pocket in case I go to more concerts at the Wellmont! read more

First time ordering from here... We ordered fried pickles, fries, chicken nuggets and wings. We loved the crunch on the chicken, and that the nuggets are real chunks of chicken. The fries are standard frozen, and the pickles were decent. We ordered almost everything in both mild and hot... and where most places go wrong, unfortunately this restaurant does too, and that's the spicier it gets, the saltier it also gets. I've been on at least a year long hot chicken journey - trying to find the best spot in NJ as they continue to pop up everywhere. This one is in a great location with street parking available nearby. Service was pretty standard as well. As for the food - compared to the other hot chicken spots this place is good, but doesn't stand out. The quality of the chicken and the pickles is very fresh, but that's the minimum for chicken at this price. I ordered mild which tasted like naked and my bf ordered extra hot which tasted like medium. They also don't have a chicken sandwich option which was super surprising. The sliders were good but felt like an appetizer at chilis - I realized it's because all they sell are tenders so they just put those on a tiny bun to match the size. I hope they add a sandwich soon! They also let you get one sauce with the chicken so I asked for ranch which came in a pre packaged Heinz tub, I thought they would have their own homemade sauces at least. They had this chipotle mayo type dip that was delish, wish they gave more of that instead. The Mac and cheese was delicious too, but again a bit small of a portion for the price. This place is nasty, my first time there was 3 days ago 1/9/25. I purchased a meal for a family member and he said the food was decent, so we ordered it again the next day as a pre-dinner appetizer. This time the food was less than half the portion size of the meal purchased on the previous day, and the packaging had all types of food stains and scratched out writing on it. We reheated the food in our air fryer for sanitary reasons, but when we found a hair in the bag we throw it away. When we called to complain the manager was indignant, unprofessional, and incompetent. After trying to reason with her I hung up and she called me back to harass me, and provoke an argument. And when I threatened to write a review she then tried to resolve my issue, I opted to get a free meal at a later date. However, she continued her rant by trying to justify Rooster's Nashville Hot Chicken food safety issues. And because this manager was so belligerent, I told the her that I will not be coming back to RNHC restaurant and that I wanted my money back. When I went to get my refund she held it hostage so that she could continue her rant, again, trying to justify the unsanitary condition and presentation of my food order. I told her that we can agree to disagree and she continued talking making no sense, and telling me that me and my family member was banned from the restaurant. I thought she was crazy because I just told her (10 min earlier) on the phone that we were NEVER coming back. The fact is that the food was in an unsanitary container, and they tried to hide it by stapling the bag completely shut. None of the staff members wear gloves, hairnets, or mask. They're completely clueless about food safety and they all need to take a refresher SERV Safe course. Also, the manager should be fired because she's a liability.
