So after two years I decided to try it again and I'm happy I did! Came in for lunch and was met with a very clean restaurant ( this is huge for me). Then we were seated by a very friendly staff member and then our waitress Carissa came to the table. Told her about the past experience I've had and she said let's not have that happen again! I got the chopped salad like before but this time delicious and the corn crab chowder loved it too. The whole experience was different than the previous so I'm am glad I tried it again. We love this casual restaurant. The decor is so beachy and kitschy. there is plenty of seating and the vibe is easy breezy. We ordered the small seafood tower and house margaritas. we loved the tuna tartare, and the crab claws on the seafood tower. We felt like the small seafood tower was a very well priced option. We went during happy hour so our margaritas were two for one which was amazing. The happy hour prices are definitely hard to beat. They also have kids eat free so we will be returning with our children sometime soon! read more

Stopped in for happy hour last night with my aunt and her friend who was visiting from Wisconsin & had a fairly delicious meal. Probably got there around 4:45/5ish and the place wasn't too busy so we were a bit surprised by the slower service, really the only negative of our experience. Tasty food, 2 for 1 sangria and margaritas, and 99¢ raw bar and wings. I got fried shrimp that were seasoned really well and quite delicious, opting for a side of garlic bread & their coleslaw. The bread wasn't all that warm when it came out so that was a bit disappointing, but everything else was delicious. Our server was pretty great; Whittany dealt with everything my picky aunt threw at her and handled it really well. All the random extra requests like more ranch for the wings, an extra side of garlic bread, questions about the crab in her cheesy crab dip, and so forth were well handled, & anytime my aunt had a bit of an attitude, Whittany handled it really well so kudos to her & apologies from me for the pickiness of my aunt. read more

I've always wanted to try Pinchers but never found the opportunity until last night. I was excited to try the seafood that it was famous for. Their were a few upsides such as the wait, which was minimal. The restaurant was clean and decked out like a crab shack on a marina. The menu looked great and I struggled to choose my fare. I ordered the broiled scallops, my wife had the "fresh cut" sea bass, and my daughter had the kids spaghetti with garlic bread. It was a disaster. The worst food we've had in years. The sea bass was not fresh but frozen. It was blackened and appeared to be seasoned with old bay but it was tasteless. The scallops were soaked in some sort of seasoning but like the sea bass was flavorless. They couldn't even get the garlic bread right. It was seasoned with garlic and butter but the bread was chewy...I mean, they can't toast bread? First and last foe us. I can't believe they are still in business with food that bad. read more

We were visiting from the east coast and wanted some west coast seafood! We picked a winner!!! From the time we walked through the doors to the time we left, the experience was awesome! The hostess was super friendly. Our waitress was awesome! Super friendly, helpful with food choices, very attentive (our glasses were never empty!) and was full of laughs and pleasant conversation. The food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! We had the fish and chips plate and the shrimp scampi as well as an appetizer of steamed oysters. Everything was cooked just right and the fresh cut fries were unbelievable! The atmosphere was nice and casual. It was laid back and all around a great dinner for us. The food was fair. We ordered the cheese and crab dip with tortillas which was very watery and very little crab for a $15 appetizer. The blackened shrimp was good and salad was good. This seafood spot has good seafood and great 2 for one drink options everyday. My experience has been that the seafood is fresh and prepared in a nice variety of options and with several side dish options. On this visit, I went with the shrimp po'boy, a side of cole slaw and fresh cut fries. The sandwich was spot on and other than going to New Orleans, no one has prepared a better one for me. Those fresh cut fries are not greasy and very generous portion. The service is friendly but be patient. It seems they have rather large sections to serve, and might be a few minutes to get to you. Once they do, they know what they are doing and don't mess up the order. Always a positive when a experienced server is on point. There is a full bar, so if you can think it, they can make it. The bar area offers stools if you prefer to eat there and the bar is linked to the outside covered Tiki bar area with more outside stools. There are also some high tops out back for you. The front offers a couple of tables and on this evening they were all full. With a separate area in the back dining, offers a space for larger groups or private events. Get on the Yelp waitlist and you will get seated quicker. Parking is not an issue, ample and private lot. Plenty of televisions also offer a great view of your next sports game. read more

Consistency is a great word for Pinchers. They run a well oiled machine. From the servers to the kitchen staff. Oh and don't forget the great bartenders (Martin). We typically go for the blue claw crabs. Years ago we were apprehensive to order them because they were already cooked and displayed in their seafood case. We are from PA and eat MD crabs so we know how they are traditionally served. We asked for old bay ( no butter, MD folks do not eat butter with their blue claws, save that for the lobster). We were pleasantly surprised. So when we need our hard shell "fix" we go. We have also ordered dinner entries from time to time. Fish is always fresh and flavorful. read more

This chain restaurant is spacious, well staffed and managed. Plenty of private parking makes this my preferred location. There is outdoor seating and high top out back by the outdoor bar. There are usually a couple of seats in the indoor bar too that offer the complete menu. Don't forget, with Yelp, get yourself on the waitlist, so you will be closer to getting your table when you arrive. For me personally the best Shrimp Po'Boy in Sarasota County. It includes two sides. One of my favorite sides here is the fresh cut french fries, you will be thrilled. This sandwich is packed with baby shrimp, that you will literally eat in every bite to the end. Do not forget to spread your Cajun mayonnaise on the bread for it will elevate this sandwich. The cole slaw is good, and the baked beans are not bad. You cannot find this anywhere else in this whole area, well, except at the other Lakewood Ranch Pinchers location. My only negative here is that the appetizers. They are very pricey from mozzarella sticks, that are not fresh at $9.00 to $15 seafood bites. That's the price of an entree. On a good note, they have 2 for 1 all the time; however, the beers have to be the same, no mixing. Robert Mondavi house wines are $8.00 each. Management on this Friday night was visible and there was plenty of staff helping to turn tables quickly. read more

Went to Pinchers Venice for a birthday meal and was sorely disappointed. I ordered the fried oysters and my dining partner had the soft-shell crabs. The oysters were minuscule, dry and cooked beyond recognition, appearing and tasting only like extra crunchy balls of batter. To add insult to injury, both the oysters and fries arrived lukewarm. My partners fried soft-shells were limp and also served at a tepid temperature. The serving of coleslaw was tasty but just too small. We complained to our waiter and he promptly disappeared. Even without considering the meal being overpriced, I have to say that this was one of the worst dining experiences ever at a "seafood" restaurant. We will never return. read more

We also enjoyed the food however, upon finishing the meal I went to the bathroom, washed my hands and as I was leaving I heard a stall door open and a member of kitchen staff came out right behind me. She didn't make a stop at sink. She just came right out, hot on my heels. That made me think, damn- is that who prepared our food?? Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. This place is disgusting. The light over our table was covered in dust and grime. Ceiling fans looked like they had never been cleaned. The seats had junk on the front where your legs go. Overall, this place is a restaurant nightmare. If the front of the house looks like this, what does the back of the house look like? We went here for a late lunch just after 1:30. We waited on our food for 45 minutes in an almost empty restaurant. The food is below par. I had the Fish and Chips. It looked like I was served the kids portion. The fish was not seasoned and bland. My daughter had the kids grilled chicken. The chicken was so salty that she could not eat it. My wife's salmon was dry and her salad overly salty. The ONLY positive is that our waitress was exceptional. We will not return to thus restaurant nor would I ever recommend anyone eat at this nasty, dirty place. read more

Some good, some not. Nice setting and attentive staff. - The fresh fish is mostly very good with huge portions. Calamari poor - was hard, old, encased in brittle batter - dry and not fresh. It felt like you were just chewing mountains of batter. The crab dip is a plate of goo - no discernible flavor except spicy hot and the tortilla chips in garish red/green and black colors equally tasteless. We tried the crab/corn soup and it turned out to be the exact same thick goo as the dip but with corn added. No crab found in either dish. They need to define and refine their flavors. The scampi was ok and the blue crab claws were delicious. No real need to go there again. read more

We frequent Pinchers in Venice: Good food (not world class, but good), family-friendly, reasonable prices, attentive servers and staff. The bar is also a lot of fun. It gets pretty busy in season, so use the call ahead feature on Yelp if you're going there around dinnertime. Also be wary of their happy hour policy - they literally bring you two drinks for the price of one. If you're a slow beer drinker, number two might get warm! Steamed clams are quite good. The "shrimp-tastic" options are also worth a look. The place seems to attract about a 50-50 mix of locals and tourists. Not unusual to see several tables of 6-12 having family gatherings. A bit noisy at peak times, but quiet and relaxed in off hours. read more
