We always have a great visit to Clayton's. The food is always excellent and service is friendly and efficient. I almost always have the Macadamia crusted grouper or the fresh catch and my wife gets either the filet or scallop Gnocci. The pizzas are also great and our kids love them with plenty the next day. They take reservations on open table and regularly host larger groups of 8 at some large tables and have 2 high tops that hold 14-16 people each if you have a large party. read more

Came on Father's Day for dinner while we were staying in Siesta Key. We were seated quickly because we had a reservation. Service was just OK, but the food was terrible. This is marketed like a finer dining experience in Siesta Key and their prices reflect such so I expected my meal to be delicious. The Macadamia Crusted Grouper was flavorless and overcooked. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm and with no flavor. The coconut shrimp was also extremely overcooked. Between three meals, a kids meal, desert, tax and tip I spent (wasted) almost $200. Clayton's Siesta Grille is always excellent. Tonight I tried the fish of the day Special which was Corvina, it came with lobster risotto(delicious) and asparagus. I always have incredible service - tonight was extremely busy but my waiter paid very close attention to all my needs before I even had to ask! The service was quick and friendly, although the food was not exactly what we expected for what we paid. A piece of fish and a side of mashed potatoes was 46 dollars. I had 2 fish tacos that were pretty small with minimal season for 20 bucks. We liked the restaurant ambiance they had going, but probably will not be back when back in town. read more

Having dinner here when some regular customers came in with 2 little dogs. I am an animal lover but these dogs were on top of the table and allowed to eat off dishes on the table. I will never eat here again! read more

I made a reservation a day before for 5 people. We get there at our expected time, but were told they were over booked....nice. It's 50 degrees, and they wanted to seat us outside....not nice! We've been going to Claytons over the last 15 years. Never a problem before, but tonight they were rude and completely unbothered by our treatment. They were lucky our kids stayed to freeze their butts off, and have cold food...we're still paying for it, but won't personally tolerate it! Bottom line, this place is waaaay too overpriced and snotty to bother with. Try somewhere a little more inland when there is a surge of people on the key for vacation! They can't seem to handle it, period! read more

My wife and I loved this place! Andrea was our server and she made the whole experience for us. Her recommendations were spot on and her drinks were perfect. We had the calamari for a starter and then the wife had a perfectly cooked medium rare filet and I had their special which was seared halibut with leek risotto. Specialties

Clayton's has an excellent food and service attitude. Our chef Dimitri Xinidis specializes in seafood, unusual appetizers, specialty salads, grouper, salmon, trout almondine, crispy duck, filet mignon, and we have a cult like following for our fish taco's and pizzas. All of our deserts, sauces, soups are homemade. We also serve breakfast and lunch and have a catering team that will handle a small party on the beach to a full scale formal black tie wedding event. Our support for the community and our in-house mentoring program for high school students is above the norm. We are a family owned business and don't follow the trend of the chains. We guarantee everything we do!

History

Established in 2004.

We opened in 2004 in the height of the boom with a famous chefs name on our billboard and a zest for creating a great hometown restaurant. We dropped the famous chef after a few years and settled in with our Executive Chef Dimitri Xinidis. His culinary skills and our good serving attitude have put us on top of the charts with every rating service. September of this year will be our 10th year and we hope to have achieved that return call to Clayton's from hometown locals and our returning visitors. We will never let our guard down and will continue to monitor our food quality and our front of the house service.

Meet the Business Owner: Clayton T.

Clayton grew up in the restaurant industry from the time he was 14 at first working as a busboy at Mr. Steak, moving up to wearing the cow suit on HWY 41 in Sarasota, Fl. This was somewhat humiliating for a young man who was chased around by a girl in a cowboy suit just to get some attention for a steak house. The other jobs included, dishwasher, prep cook, salad and soup maker, broiler cook, oyster shucker, bartender and server in a fancy restaurant. Following this assortment of jobs and graduation from college I had a 25 year appraisal career.After selling my business I purchased a building, renovated it and Clayton's Siesta Grille was born. Now while this sounds kind of romantic, I want potential investors or future proprietors to know just how difficult the business is to have some profitability. The old adage is if you want to make a million bucks in the restaurant business start with two million.

When ordering our foods, the kids asked what type of drinks they had since it was not listed on the menu. She said Coke but didn't elaborate that they had Coke products. Since she said Coke so fast our daughter didn't hear the response and asked her the question again where she just said that's a great question and ignored her and moved on. Food wise - we had the Peruvian ceviche, Peruvian chicken, I think I had a special grouper dish. The food was good. We were able to eat everything and the kids enjoyed their kids burger meals. Outside of the waitress comments, the place placed nice modern music to listen to and had the basketballs games playing on the tv at the bar.

I ised to bartender for years, so I get it, some kids can be a pain in the ass. Ours weren't, and we just wanted a drink in the patio. Drinks were VERY weak/seemed to have no alcohol, and I didn't like feeling like we were an inconvenience. While we were in town for 8 days, and were literally a 2 minute walk from this place, it was a quick "one and done" for us.

First off everything is better in off season. Everyone seems a little bit more relaxed there's no traffic the servers and staff are happy there are places to park. Our server was a tad pregnant and as sweet as sugar. She helped us out with coffee of course and plenty of water it wasn't too hot so we sat outside. I ordered my usual which is eggs sausage toaster English muffin and some fruit. My wife got fruit and English muffin and some bacon. I don't know if breakfast tastes better on vacation but this one sure did it was fantastic. We did leave room for a cinnamon roll I wasn't prepared for the size or the scope of how big the cinnamon roll was. If you can imagine the size of a newborn's head being a cinnamon roll that's pretty much what this was. We both were able to take a bite but we're pretty much full up after three cups of coffee so we took the cinnamon roll home and had it later on that evening for dessert. The place is clean it's run well the manager was on site and I love it when the locals come in because they know where to go when the food is proper. Well I can't imagine the nightmare it would be trying to get breakfast during the high season I'm sure these guys can keep up but it was a really awesome dining experience and I enjoyed it will return

The peel and eat shrimp was fantastic. Whatever sauce they use on it, a cajun, buttery, garlicky sauce was just amazing. Definitely worth getting if you like that kind of thing. The grouper sandwich was good. It needed a little bit of salt but I can see why this is a specialty here. Tender meat, good sauce. Definitely a top seafood spot if you're looking for something less tourist-y.

The restaurant was very clean and seemed to be operating at a smooth pace. We were led to our table and handed our menus. Our server was with us almost immediately, smiling and greeting us to the restaurant. Menus were handed out and our questions were answered. We had 5 people in our party and ordered 4 blackberry Bellinis and I had a coffee old fashioned. We ALL raved about our drinks and after a few more questions, we ordered our meals: Crab Cake Benedict, Smoked Salmon Benedict, Chicken Sandwich and a Philly Steak Sandwich. All I can say is that EVERY plate was EMPTY! We ALL LOVED our food! It was hot, fresh tasting and delicious flavors. Even the fries were hot, crisp, fresh and seasoned perfectly. Forgot, Two of our party members ordered the wild mushroom torte, and...NOTHING left on the plate!! Our food was so awesome that we had to try 2 desserts: Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée and the Carrot Cake and yes...they were demolished and joined the 'Clean Plate Club'!!!!! Being in a different state, I reached out to Brine to coordinate a reservation and purchase a gift card to ensure they were taken care of. They were extremely helpful with making sure it all went smoothly, which made me eager to try the restaurant for myself when I visited this year. Within minutes of stepping through their doors and taking a seat, I knew Brine was going to become one of my new favorites. The staff are all super attentive and really take the time to get to know their guests. It was so nice to hear wait staff greeting their regulars by name, celebrating birthdays with them and talking about important milestones as if they were part of their family. The food completely blew me out of the water - the ingredients fresh and packed with flavor. My family's favorite appetizer is the Brooklyn Style Wings - maybe because we are from Brooklyn, but the wings are addicting with the flavors of sausage, peppers, and a vinegary sauce. The burger was the most surprising of them all, with big flavor and smokiness infused into every bite of meat. Oysters were clean, fish was fresh, and the homemade chips had the perfect crunch. I'm so glad I discovered Brine, but now am so disappointed that I don't live in Sarasota full time to be able to dine here more often. This was definitely one of the best meals of my visit, and I will continuously recommend to everyone!

Connors did not disappoint. My filet was a perfect medium rare with a fantastic char. Let's face it we can get such a fantastic char on our home Weber without over cooking it. Those professional grills are wonderful. Gary's prime rib was perfectly medium rare as well. Gary enjoyed a few Stella's and I enjoyed a red sangria. Finished our meal with strawberry icecream that we shared. The restaurant is configured so that privacy for those intimate meals as there are numerous cozy booths. Service was excellent with our server checking back to see if everything was delicious and asking if we needed anything. Best part, they do take reservation. Sorry, no photos. I prefer to concentrate on our meal and each other.

Nothing special nothing stands out other than the decor for the price if you're getting a I would go to Texas Roadhouse where you get rolls, a salad, an additional side, your steak (bone in ribeye and peanuts at a better price.
