Exceptional Customer Service -- Thank You, Antonio Rossitto! My wife and I had lunch at 131 MAIN today and wanted to recognize Manager Antonio Rossitto for an exceptional experience. Our meals arrived lukewarm, and we mentioned it to our waiter simply so the restaurant would be aware--we weren't looking for anything in return. Our waiter brought Antonio over, and from that moment, Antonio took complete ownership. He insisted on having both meals remade fresh from scratch and then personally brought the piping-hot meals back to our table. The food was incredible, but what happened afterward impressed us even more. Antonio came back to check on us and surprised us by telling us he had comped our entire meal. We never asked or expected him to do that. He simply wanted to make sure our experience was up to the standard that 131 MAIN expects for every guest who walks through their doors. Mistakes can happen at any restaurant. What separates a good restaurant from a great one is how they respond when something isn't right. Antonio turned a small issue into one of the best examples of genuine hospitality and customer service we've experienced. Apparently this place has been here for about a year or so. So, decided to try it! First thing i noticed was the bar and the upscale decor. There were at least three hostesses/waiters/tresses greeting us at the door. It's more of an adult environment. Very nice! We ordered an app, the cornbread, their claim to fame. And it certainly was fantastic!!! I had the cowboy salad. It was all chopped up just how I like my salads. Perfect amount of ingredients, they didn't skimp! The only issue, and I could have asked for more, was they should bring a small side of dressing when they bring the salads out. Regardless the salad was yummy! The prices were steep but not any more than you would expect to pay in an upscale restaurant, $23. And, what I appreciated was they DO NOT INCLUDE AN AUTO GRATUITY! YAY!!! Overall the experience was outstanding; environment was beautiful, service was good, food was delicious. We will be back, many times I'm sure! read more

Was invited to dinner on a Friday night. We were two couples and had reservations. Place was very crowded. Our server, Eric, was excellent. He had great suggestions and provided us excellent service. We tried the cornbread, which is a must have. Large enough for two, maybe three. I had the Danish ribs which were delicious and fell off the bone. Others ordered the prime rib sandwich, Trout, and Salmon. I had the cole slaw and mash potatoes as my sides. All of the food was delicious. They have a full bar and they also allow you to bring your own wine. No corkage fees. Great idea. I would say there were quite a few tables ordering drinks and drinking their own wine. The deserts are sinfully delicious, and huge. After a rich dinner, we shared two of them. The banana cream pie and key lime pie were equally good. read more

We found 131 Main to be a nice, upscale place. Three of us stopped in without reservations early on a Saturday PM looking for dinner. They were about to seat us in the bar area. The bar area actually looked a lot more comfortable and less stuffy than the main dining area, so we were happy with that. We ordered up our usual Old Fashioneds to start with. They were very good, but not necessarily the best I had. Service was good, perhaps too good. We had 6 different people wait on us or check in with us, slightly annoying. While our main waitress was very nice, she seemed a bit over the top on how much she liked us and how wonderful it is to serve us. it was good, don't mistake me, and will most likely be back at some point. read more

First time customer and we were happy to find a few seats at the bar so we could enjoy a drink before our 6:30 reservation. Our bartender was friendly and made one of the best lemon drop martinis I have ever had. The lemon was tart and the sugar rim was a nice offsetting balance. When we first entered and told them we were going to have a drink at the bar before our reservation, the hostess told us to come back up whenever we were ready and they would seat us. At 6:15 we went to the hostess and she told us they couldn't seat us until 6:30. What? We had given up our bar seats because they said they would seat us early and now they couldn't. She directed us to a lounge area to wait. At 6:30 she took the 4 of us to a table and there were only 3 chairs and 3 place settings. Right next to us was a table for 6 or 8 with no guests, therefore lots of empty chairs. She asked me to stand there and wait and she would bring me another chair. I'm sure I had a baffled look on my face because there was an empty chair at a table next to ours that we could have used. Our server noticed me waiting and hurried over and moved the chair. Super weird. Our server Taliah was a gem! She took our drink order while we viewed the menu and then made a few suggestions for us. The wine was a nice size pour. We, of course, had to share the cornbread which was highly recommended. We were able to enjoy the cornbread before we ordered our entrees, which I love. The cornbread was warm and soft inside with a crunch on the outside and the honey add on was "icing on the cake". For my entree I ordered the ribs which came with fries. Food arrived timely and hot. The ribs were fall off the bone and the bbq sauce was great. The fries are shoestring and were great, The slaw was also very tasty. Atmosphere - Very Nice! The restaurant has a classy vibe. Service - Excellent! Taliah was our server and she was as good as it gets. Food - Very Good. I dined with 3 other people and we shared the Corn Bread starter and it was delicious and ample for the 4 of us to share. For an entree, I chose the Barrel Cut Filet Mignon. It was cooked to the temperature ordered, served hot and tasted delicious with the featured sauce. My only ding that prevented a 5 star review was that the cut included a small piece that was very fatty (not something I expect from a filet. I opted for the "fresh fries" over the recommended Smashed Red Potatoes. I was leery about there being red skins in the mash. However, there were no skins and it looked great. Ambience great. Service amazing with multiple servers and managers making sure our experience was good. The Double Pork Chop was the most tender flavorful pork chop I've ever had. The cornbread appetizer was flavorful but jalapeño not overpowering. The inside was soft and flavorful with an outside buttery crust. The medallions were a daily special. The flavor profile was great with the Demi glaze and smashed potatoes but the texture was off, very chewy. We thought it was the cook as it came out rare but cooking a little more didn't fix it but they graciously offered the barrel cut filet to replace it which was tender, flavorful and perfectly cooked with nice sear. They even brought out chili while I waited. The chili was good but not my flavor profile being originally from the Midwest, more tomato and chunks of beef instead of ground beef. 1031 Main in Lakewood Ranch--really disappointing experience. We stopped in hoping to grab a quick drink at the bar, but were stopped by the host and told we couldn't go up. Meanwhile, another guest walked right past us and took the last two seats at the bar. When we asked about options, the manager suggested waiting 40 minutes for the next availability. We ended up leaving frustrated and let down. There seemed to be no consistency in how guests were being handled. Definitely expected a better experience--hope they improve. read more

I Was brought to this restaurant by my best friend. She had been here once before and raved about how good it was. She said the food and service was impeccable and after going myself I'd have to agree. Eric was our server and he was phenomenal! I would go back and request him for my server again! The one thing I was really surprised about is that they allow you to bring your own bottle of wine. They also don't charge a corking fee. They do have a full bar and wine list as well. We brought two bottles of wine and my friends also had cocktails beforehand while waiting for us to arrive. For an appetizer my husband and I ordered the cornbread. It was delicious as all the reviews stated! It was large enough for each of us to have a piece. I don't like hot & spicy and it wasn't which I appreciated. My girlfriend ordered a Ahi Tuna salad for an appetizer which she said was good. For dinner I ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich which was served with fries, au jus and horseradish. It was very good. My girlfriend and my husband both ordered the Danish Ribs! I had two of my husbands ribs and they were incredible! I would definitely order them next time. My friend's husband ordered the Tile Fish special and enjoyed it. For dessert my friends shared a slice of key lime pie and my husband and I shared a slice of Banana Cream pie. I didn't try the key lime pie but the banana cream pie was amazing and the slice was huge! We all shared it because it was that good! Probably the best banana cream pie I'd ever eaten. An enjoyable time was had by all! I find all the restaurants in Lakewood Ranch to be overpriced and this one is no different. Best Filet I've had anywhere! Better than any high end steak house. We ate here for lunch and we throughly enjoyed the food and service. The ambiance is awesome. Casual but elevated. 11:30 lunch on a Thursday and what a treat! When we left at 1pm the place was packed! A huge variety from hamburgers to fresh halibut along with a good variety of appetizers too. The cornbread looked fabulous, but too large for our table of two. We had chips with guacamole and queso while deciding on lunch. Sara and Terrence (?) were our fabulous servers, who kept our drinks full and were very timely on their check-ins. I had the grouper tacos an my friend had halibut with a quinoa/kale salad. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly accommodating especially when it comes to food allergies, which always makes a huge difference when dining out. Enjoyed our anniversary dinner here on a busy Sunday Easter night. We tried to go to the bar to have a drink first but all seats were taken so we got our drinks & sat in their casual room outside the bar & met a lovely couple while sipping our drinks. We then sat down at our table & a guy took our drink order & then another server came over to introduce herself as our server & that they worked as a team. On the table we did find it very odd & out of place that they had sugar on the table as well as an old-fashioned salt shaker & Louisiana hot sauce. They do not serve complimentary bread. My husband had the small Ceasar salad to start & I must say it was delish! For dinner, I got the halibut special without the butter sauce that the server kept recommending for an add'l $7. Who needs to drink a grilled fish with sauce? It was fantastic & I swapped out the veggie for the yummy skinny fries that were addicting! My husband enjoyed the pork & brought some home as it was a large portion. We didn't get dessert as we didn't care for the 4 options that they had. We enjoyed our date night at 131 Main. The service was outstanding. From water, to orders, to clearing plates everything was prompt and they made sure our every need was taken care of. The Caesar salads were served in large portions and tasted delicious. The Barrel aged filet was cooked perfectly as I ordered it. The outer crust was perfect and the inside was so soft and a perfect medium rare and the potatoes were equally delicious. After work yesterday we were able to grab a table here and try 131 for the first time. The appearance outside off the get go was very warm and inviting and the inside was just as nice and we thought good start. The waiter was a well spoken and all ways available when we needed him. We ordered the jalapeño cornbread for an appetizer, prime rib sandwich along with a side wedge salad and Thai salad for our entree, and the banana pie for dessert. The cornbread was really good, not the best I've ever had, but worth ordering if you like cornbread. The wedge salad was crisp and tasty (the blue cheese dressing had a nice garlic flavor if that is something you like), the prime rib sandwich was tasty and tender and served with a good side of au jus (worth ordering again), the Thai salad was very good as well with a lot of steak to fill you up. Lastly the banana pie was really good, if I could remove one thing it would be the extra banana slices on the outside ( a bit of an overkill ), but the crust was delicate and the filling just right. Beautiful atmosphere and friendly service. The food didn't quite wow us this time, but we'd consider trying again. We don't eat pork, and many of the popular dishes include it, so we may have ordered differently than most reviews suggest. The cornbread wasn't our favorite, but the fries were a pleasant surprise! My chicken was solid, my husband enjoyed his steak. If we went back, we would order differently like the crab cakes or salmon and tuna appetizer -- they looked great from what we saw. The five of us came to celebrate several special occasions -- a new baby, a new marriage, and checking on our new home being built. We brought two bottles of our favorite Napa wine to share and celebrate. To be fair, we were talking, laughing, and probably a bit slow to order. We ordered three appetizers and then our entrées. The food was decent, and the service throughout the meal was good. However, when we decided to enjoy an after-dinner drink, we were told the staff didn't feel comfortable serving us. Ummm... what? The majority of us are at retirement age and have never been "cut off." We discussed our shock with the manager, who admitted that a mistake had been made and said he would be happy to serve us. Unfortunately, by that point, the moment had passed -- and so had our desire to stay. It was a disappointing end to what had been a pleasant evening, and we will not be going back. read more

Husband loved how big and fresh the shrimp cocktail was. The burger was kid approved and the fries were devoured quickly. Nice skinny fries but not soggy or overly crispy. I really like this place! The food is great. I had the baby back ribs and they were perfect. ( this is high praise as I am from Chicago, and also make the worlds best ribs! ) The rack was meaty and fall off the bone. The sauce was smokey, sweet, and just a little spicy. Also had a Caesar salad (. $9 add on). It was the perfect size served on a chilled bowl and a chilled fork. The service is very good..attentive but not pushy, professional, and very informed on the menu. I really like that the food is delivered by kitchen runners so the food is served hot! No bread service Atmosphere is just ok. It's a big place like many other Lakewood ranch restaurants. Volume is appropriate. You can have a conversation. The place was packed. The food is great. The service is great. But unless you like being treated like a piece of crap, don't ever..ever..ever go there without a reservation. The first thing the "ambassadors" will try to do is shuttle you to a booth in the bar. If you refuse, plan on standing in the lobby like a big idiot for 5 minutes while they fumble around on their computer screen hoping you to change your mind. Eventually they will give up and find you a place in the half empty dining room. It just happened to us again - Today at 3:3O on a Saturday afternoon - not exactly prime time. My second visit - Superb The wait staff was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The ambiance is a 10, beautiful lighting, teak tables, and comfortable seating. I had the roast beef sandwich for $26 with creamy horseradish & au jus, and fries, and it was fantastic. My partner had the tacos with halibut and she loved it. ($20). Little things like plenty of lemons w her iced tea and refilling water glasses before they were 1/2 empty. Our waiter Brian made our luncheon very enjoyable. This is a winner! The only confusing thing is the address is not 131 Main. This is the restaurant to bring and impress guests/friends. A great addition to Lakewood Ranch fine dining. read more

Because I loved my first visit to 131 Main, I decided to make a reservation through Resy to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I added her allergies in the notes, selected that we were celebrating her birthday, and wrote a note mentioning her name and the reason for dining. We were the first customers to arrive. No one asked if we had a reservation and we were taken to a table. Before sitting, I requested a booth, which they kindly took us to. 131 Main excels in service. I mentioned my daughter's food allergy and the manager even stopped by to explain how her dish would be prepared, which was amazing. I ordered the same halibut special that I had ordered before, but made the mistake of ordering the side of lobster or crab sauce. I wasn't a fan of it, but thankfully, it came on the side and I tasted it before drizzling over the meal. The halibut itself seemed like a completely different texture fish. It was flaky and had more of a cod texture and flavor. It was nothing like the almost lobster textured halibut I had for my first visit. It was very underwhelming. I ordered a side of green beans like before, which were perfectly cooked, but way over salted. Both of our meals were so heavily salted that it made the meal one of the least enjoyable meals we have eaten. My daughter had her fries and remaining half of a salmon boxed up. I did mention about the overly salted meals to the young man who took out plates and asked how everything tastes, and he apologized and had someone bring over more water. No one mentioned my daughter's birthday the entire meal. We weren't asked if we had a reservation when we came in to eat, so I guess that is why no one knew. This restaurant went from my favorite to least favorite very quickly. Our server was very sweet and I loved the care in preparing the food to avoid allergens, but otherwise, this meal was one we will remember for the wrong reasons. I think it will be hours before we feel better after the excessive salt. Restaurants need consistency and I assume there was a different chef who prepared or seasoned the food today. It's almost as if the surface of the plate was salted, because the more we ate, the saltier the food tasted. The lunch was over $60 for two people, without drinks. I doubt the fish I was served was halibut, but that could have been an issue with the supplier. I still tipped just over 20%, and I hope that goes to our server. read more

We live in downtown SRQ & this place is by far the best experience we've had outside of Tampa --- the downtown restaurants are often overrated, overpriced & often lack good service or proper management! Couple friends hyped up 131 main, both in clt and Fl. Figured I'd have to try it, went in on a Tuesday evening. Front concierge forgot to add me the waiting list, no biggie it's a beautiful lobby to wait. Ordered the a 14oz ribeye, regretted it the moment I saw it. It was a thin and sad looking ribeye. Didn't really want to make a fuss as the server mentioned it was the last ribeye this evening. Thought I was the lucky one but instead I got a sad half inch thick ribeye. read more

There was so much hype about this restaurant opening, and for a while it was hard to get in! So we were excited to celebrate our anniversary there recently. Pros: -There is no corkage fee! So we brought our own bottle of champagne to celebrate. -The service is very good. Everyone is very nice, and our waiter gave us tips (e.g. I was ordering three sides as my meal, but he recommended ordering four as a "farmer's plate" for a better deal. I like that they have this option!). -My husband said the pork chop, which is three inches thick (!) is the best pork chop he's ever had. Cons: -The menu is VERY limited, especially if you don't eat pork or beef like me. I'm not sure how often they change up their menu, but if this is the standard, you could easily go through the whole menu within a few visits. -The corn bread is one of their popular items, and ours came out so quickly that you could tell it had been sitting around for a while. It wasn't hot, and it stuck to the bottom of the pan, so you couldn't get neat pieces out of it. -The asparagus tastes smoky, which I don't like (but that's just a personal preference). -While the HUGE pile of whipped cream on top of the key lime pie looks appetizing, it's not very sweet and tastes more like a big pile of butter. Not yummy, unfortunately. -The only "happy hour" deal they have is half-off wine on Tuesdays. My husband would give this restaurant 4 stars. But because of the limited menu for my dietary restrictions (which aren't that strict, relatively), I am not sure how often I would want to come back here. read more
