I heard Great things about Michael John's and it did not disappoint. We had a great dinner the other night atmosphere was upscale. Madison and Savanna gave us a very good service. Everything we ate was delicious. They started with bread, service and a little cup of delicious soup as a pallet starter. Appetizer we had calamari that was very flavorful. Definitely the star of the show for me was the Chicken Marsala bursting with flavor. The sides of mashed potato and green beans were equally delicious. Went here for a birthday dinner- service is great, food is very good. It is expensive but good for special occasions. We had several ribeye steaks, which were cooked very nicely. Switching out sides from fries is all an upcharge which is kindof a bummer at a nice place where you are already spending $70 for a steak. Salads were dirty Caesar and wedge and yummy. Brie plate was excellent. Calamari was not great- too chewy and served warm but not flaming hot. Lemon chicken was the least favorite dish. Good wine selection. We had crème brûlée, blueberry cheesecake, and pineapple cheesecake- all were excellent. read more

Our servers were on top of it, never letting our drinks get empty and regularly ensuring we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself has sections or separate rooms which helps keep the ambiance cozy minimizing the noise. Truly outstanding. The service was perfect, very professional with frequent check ins and friendly conversation. The ambiance is lovely with low mood lighting and Italian influence pictures on the walls. The food? Stunning! I got the filet mignon cooked perfectly. Atmosphere - Nice. The restaurant has speakeasy feel. As you enter, there is a small bar that seats roughly 6 people. From what I can tell there are two dining rooms, one a bit larger than the other Service - very good. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. What I most appreciated was that the service team worked together to support one another. Food - very good. I had the Beer and Cheddar soup as a starter. It was good, but somewhat bland. For my entree, I had one of the specials, which was called a Filet Mignon Oscar, with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. The filet was very good, as was the mashed potatoes and asparagus. For our first visit to MJ's as a special date night, we made a same-day reservation on a Thursday evening after 8pm. Service was warm and attentive, and we were seated at a booth. There was a group of about 10 other diners celebrating a birthday and another couple there for a romantic very-dressed-up date night. Decor oozed of classy+sassy Hollywood. We ordered the roasted garlic appetizer with fresh bread, roast duck with port wine glaze, the coq au vin blanc special, and crème brûlée. A fun amusé of pepper soup was complimentary. Beverages included prosecco (glass), Kentucky bourbon barrel ale (draft) and Courvoisier. We enjoyed everything and will definitely return. Will most likely need to procure a bottle of their special batch "Maker's Mark Michael John's Bradentucky bourbon whisky" !! read more

Food Was supremely delicious! From the table bread to the perfectly cooked steaks and everything else in between. Unfortunately, we were too full to attempt dessert. The French onion soup while not that best every was very tasty, unique part was you added the bread provided on the plate to your soup. The cream spinach was tasty and made you keep going back for more, something stuck out about it but couldn't pin it down. The wedge salad was good and the au gratin potatoes while decent were my least favorite part of the meal. Definitely want to go back and try other dishes! First time visit and I enjoyed the experience. We had a drink at the bar and we were the only guests there so it was nice as we could easily talk. I had a peach martini which was excellent. She shook it so well that ice crystals were on top, which was great. The four of us had a nice table and I liked that there was no music playing so we could easily talk. The servers all seem to share tables, so there was always someone helping us. The menu is very nice, with a variety of items. I started with the beer cheddar soup. I liked that they didn't take our entree order until we were done with our starter. While waiting for our starter, they brought out bread and butter, which was very good. They also gave us a complimentary small cup of broccoli cheddar soup. It was extremely salty. My beer cheddar soup wasn't what I had hoped, and my husband had ordered the tomato Gorgonzola soup and didn't care for it so we switched. Well...... I liked his soup less than I liked mine. I would get a salad next time. For my entree I chose the chicken cordon bleu which came with whipped potatoes and vegetables. Food arrived timely and our plates were nice and hot and so was the food. The portion was huge. I loved the carrot! The chicken was more coated and crunchy than I anticipated and not nearly enough cheese for me. The potatoes were good. Ambiance and service was fabulous The appetizers were delicious and all of our food came out in a timely manner. We were a large group so that was impressive. My only complaint was my 14 oz ribeye was tough I ordered it Mediuim it came out pink which was perfect but not juicy at all. For that price I do expect it to melt in my mouth and unfortunately it didn't. My husband's filet was juicy and delicious and I ate some of that instead. I should have said something about my ribeye but chose not to at the time. I will still go back but next time it will be a filet. read more

We went for our anniversary dinner. Disappointed that the waiter didn't ask if we were cel rating anything special. We told him it was our first time here at the restaurant. We had a reservation at 5:30 and they sat us next to a table with wild kids when there were many other open tables. Our cocktails were very good. We ordered a shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and was disappointed in not only the presentation but the quality of the shrimp was not so great. Probably would have stayed longer and ordered more drinks if we had a booth and weren't in the middle of the dining room. I ordered a filet and he had a ribeye. The steaks were phenomenal!! We went for a couples dinner recently and had a nice time. The atmosphere is elegant, but most folks were dressed very casually. The service was friendly and attentive. There is a menu that has a good selection even for folks who do not eat steak. The wine list had a variety of selections. Odd that they seemed to have a full bar, but told me they could not make me a Bloody Mary. We got the roasted garlic and caprese salad for appetizers. The garlic was delicious on the warm bread that was served. The caprese salad had prosciutto which was delicious. For entrees we got a NY Strip and a Ribeye. They were cooked just as we ordered. We found the rib eye did not have a lot of flavor, the last time we were there it was much tastier. When I go to a steakhouse, I expect the meat to be outstanding, not just good. We would still go back here, and perhaps try a different cut of steak. read more

The ambiance is quaint and calm. The walls are adorned with wine bottles and black and white photos in a dimly lit setting. We had such a pleasant experience with the service. It was top notch! Hubby and I were in the area and used yelp to find a restaurant near our RV resort. MJ's review and description, is what made us want to come give it a try. Unfortunately we felt severely under dressed, but we were treated as if we were dressed to impress. We stopped in last night after a grueling day at the hospital. My sister and I were exhausted and hungry. We both ordered burgers thinking fast and filling. Not fast. Filling yes, but tasteless for a $26 filet burger. The bun doesn't hold up. No treatment. Not buttered or toasted. They put cherry tomatoes and arugula on the burger. What? That did not work. A little salt and pepper would have been great. You need to step up your burger game on Monday nights IMHO BTW our server was great. read more

Came in here on a weekday night and by the time we left close to 8pm the place was more busy than when we came in, so that was a great sign. Had a stunning dinner; we all ordered a dish containing red meat, and it was superbly cooked (I had to take half of mine home because it was so filling). For an appetizer we got the baked brie and it was very good. Everything paired nicely with the "Sweet Cheeks" bottle of red we ordered. The ambiance was very cozy and the waitstaff was super friendly and knowledgable. For the holidays the place was decorated which looked lovely. The prices can be steep here, so keep that in mind. I would be happy to go here again, and give one of their other notable menu items a try, especially the dessert (we were so full we couldn't manage to order any). read more

Decided to go here for my wife's and my 21st wedding anniversary, based on their reputation. I made a 6:30pm reservation as it was a Friday night just in case it was busy, but they were not. The dining room was clean and set and seemed filled with staff and its ambiance was comfortable and not loud or too light. We were sat at a table that I immediately noticed that my seat was broken and by butt dropped about 2" lower in the back of the chair. I asked a staffer a few feet away if I could switch seats with another table and they said "sure". Interesting that in a restaurant like this that they didn't ask me 'why' or if there was a problem, but instead they just said 'OK', I I switched my chair with another table. Our server arrived quickly, greeting us and getting our drink order. Drinks were delivered quickly and were very tasty and prepared correctly (Makers Manhattan Up & Tito's & Tonic). Bread was delivered next and then their 'Amuse Bouche' was a tasty veal tomato soup. We both ordered their 'French Onion' soup, which was amazing and delicious! I believe my wife told me that it was made with a veal stock but all I know, is that the broth was like velvet! Smooth, full and very satisfying along with the crouton and cheese combination. For our entrees; we ordered 1 choice from the special evening options menu-1 1/2 # bone in lamb shank served over mashed potatoes with broccolini and one choice from their regular menu, a prime boneless NY Strip served with Brussel Sprouts and Truffle Fries. The food, it's preparation, presentation, portion size were OUTSTANDING! Cooked EXACTLY as asked, generous portions and completely 5-star meals! Yes, plastic microwaveable Togo boxes (expected something more sustainable and compostable as their pricing is finally similar) we're offered as we did bring some of our delicious food home with us. By the end of the meal, we were happily full and satisfied, so I requested the check, paid and stood up to leave. On our way out, we passed our server who wished us a happy anniversary, as I had noted it when making the reservation. Our meal, service and experience was very good but I left disappointed as I had assumed that if I noted on my reservation that I was there celebrating my 21st wedding anniversary that it would somehow be acknowledged more than just our server mentioning it as we were leaving. My expectations from a restaurant like this (and as costly as this) we're maybe a complimentary glass of champagne or even a complimentary dessert for us to share. We had the mussels and fried Brussels sprouts for appetizer. Mussels were good huge and fat but broth was bland. I loved the Brussels sprouts and the unexpected heat. Hubby had filet minion and crab cake with truffle fries substitute and I had the Delmonico cooked medium. Both steak were cooked perfect but under seasoned. My side dishes were a sad looking blanched and maybe quickly seared in butter broccoli and potato purée aka tasteless mashed potato. We shared the chocolate pudding which was good, wished they add more ganache. I kept debating to ask for the salt shaker. Service was good but could use a little finesse. Good food and good service. I'd recommend this place to anyone who appreciates quality. This quiet place has an odd entrance but I'm glad I stayed. The entryway has a host stand, which was not manned and sits in front of a bar, which was entirely empty. That first impression was not good. It's kinda weird going into a restaurant with no other customers, which is what it looked like. I was greeted by the friendly bartender who came around and welcomed me to a table around the corner in a different room which had other diners present. What initially felt like a ghost town was actually a well patronized dining establishment. The service and food were great. The bar did a PERFECT job. Their default cosmo is exactly what I wanted. Fresh squeezed lime juice, no pasteurized pre squeezed garbage. Martini came out fast and perfect. The salad, soup, and entree were all amazing. I had chicken Marsala and truffle fries. The complimentary appetizer had your palate yearning for more. My daughter and I opted for the Filet Mignon and hubs had the Delmonico and our son in law chose Chicken Cordon Bleu.
