My husband who is president of the Men's Golf League at River isles had a tournament lunch with 50 people on Tuesday at 1:00pm. Heath made sure all was set up and everyone was welcome. The main server Makenzie, was an absolute joy and took charge of everything. The men were quite happy and really enjoyed the best burgers in town! The beer was flowing and the ambiance was wonderful. Went last night, a Monday, with a friend. Casual atmosphere with several TVs showing various sports ( go Rays!). After we were there for about an hour, they announced it was bingo night. The announcer/ speaker acoustics were unnecessarily loud and irritating, and the reason why they didn't get four stars. Our server (I forgot her name) was friendly and attentive. I ordered grilled salmon which was a smaller piece than expected but prepared well. She did ask what temperature I wanted it cooked too, which I had no clue (lol), so she explained color, etc. For my two sides I picked grilled Brussel sprouts which I had balsamic vinaigrette ( an up charge) added on the side, and sweet potato fries which were served with an amazing apple butter that had hints of cinnamon. Should be a Zero star! Got there and there were plenty of tables available. No one was waiting. We haven't been here in a while so we stood by door for a few minutes before we realized they now have a check in machine. Again, they weren't busy. One girl was at the register cashing out to the far left of us. Another worker was there chatting up with her. Both made eye contact with us but not one made a gesture or mentioned they'd be with us. To the right of us were two other workers just prepping napkins with utensils, those two also made eye contact with us but nothing happened. A waitress was walking around and still nothing. We finally noticed the machine and checked in. Waited for a few more minutes and nothing still from any of the waitresses on the floor. We checked in and left to the car and even though we were the first one's in line according to yelp a table never became available to us. It was a Happy St Partick's Day. We were drawn to Gecko's because they offered a special menu of Irish dishes. I had their Corned Beef & Cabbage. They also had a Shepard's Pie, Bangers & Mash, and even a sampler platter of all 3. All reasonably priced I might add. The staff was in the spirit with their green. It is the day when everyone is Irish. I'm part Irish on all the other days and was glad we found a participating restaurant. As for the food, I've had better, but as a special menu item it was fine. There was plenty of food, that's always a plus for me. As for the service, friendly but a little slow, but it was quite busy with people waiting around the door for a table to open up. 5 stars for effort. I don't really know what happened to this place...I haven't been here in a few years. But it's honestly not the same. They overcooked their fried fish. My bowl wasn't terrible. We came in on a pretty slow day. I'm not sure if this guy was a manager, but once the table that was seated behind us had left, he was gathering things and I guess he was radioing to the back, but the way he communicated with his staff was honestly rude and demanding. I don't want to hear you talking to your staff like that. Please, if you need to communicate to them, don't do it on the floor with a section full of people. It was really awkward to everyone in the room. If you need to communicate at that time because it's urgent (it wasn't he just wanted them to vacuum and wipe down) you can do it with a nicer tone. read more

This restaurant/sports bar checks all the boxes. They have lots of TVs, including two large screens in two different sections of the restaurant. Our server was quick to get our drink orders and always seemed to be around when needed. The fried rice tasted like spoiled silage the beef kabob was almost raw and the chicken kabob was slimy and nasty the egg rolls were mushy and slimy like they had been made days in advance everything was not warm or well prepared in any way shape or form .Food safety standards were not adhered too I hope no one got sick from the food both my husband and I threw away our plates the best thing they served was a par cooked roll that had not been baked up . The second day was no better they served slimy ziti. The noodles were overcooked and it was yucky My husband went out and bought food and brought it back in . Unfortunately, the menu does not say the chicken sandwich will be spicy and my friend cannot tolerate any sort of spicy heat due to a GI condition. Came here on a football Sunday place was mobbed, but they were kind enough to change their TVs to the game that I wanted to watch. Service was good. I had the grilled Gouda melt, which is basically a pot roast sandwich with Gouda melted into it along with pearl onions, And green peppers. The thing was freaking awesome. He wanted to talk about how much money he was not making and the price of his house it would cost for living. He was rude to his coworker, who also bartended with him, acting like he couldn't hear her when she was standing right next to him. managers were not inclined to even know what's going on in the restaurant he needs to learn what appropriate to talk at the bar and what else is not appropriate as his regular seem to expect this kind of talk out of him. read more

Geckos has always been my staple since I moved down here in Florida. I absolutely love the siesta salad with blackened chicken, blackened flatbread , boom boom shrimp tacos & their homemade chips!!! PS their ranch is next level. I've recently been getting takeout orders and haven't been having the best service. I'm usually waiting outside for awhile till someone notices I'm out there and the last three times they have messed up my order of one item and I don't notice till I get home. Visited Gecko's on an off night in the middle of the week because it's very difficult to find seating of any kind on a Friday or weekend night. I've tried this restaurant on several occasions and nd their food is good. This particular night may have been an off night, that happens. The BLT looked beautiful but had an odd taste from the oil of the Bacon I guess. The lobster Mac & cheese was amazing and the bang bang shrimp was not as good, it was overly breaded and drenched in the sauce that overpowered the dish. We sat at the bar which is our usual. The bartender left a lot to be desired of. Was not a friendly atmosphere unless if you were a local regular patron. The beer was cold and my cosmo was alright. The restaurant is always clean. It wasn't overly load inside however not quiet for enough for a personal conversation. The prices have gone up across the menu but that was to be expected. First visit..."trivia night" at The Gecko (64th) was the draw ...I had never been here, so i suggested it to my tribe of traveling trivia scholars and then presto...we were "all" there. Food on the menu...typical bar food and a nice variety...i chose the ultimate cobb salad with blackened shrimp and a mixture of blue cheese and ranch dresqing...i chose to dip ...not dredge my salad...Super fresh veggies, hard boiled eggs, bacon bits, croutons...you know the drill...it was refreshing. ..lots of variety in food at our table, a behemoth burrito that looked fab, a wrap, ahi appetizer and bang-bang shrimp...all were given a thumbs up. The sound quality- audio for the game was mediocre...rules-directions for first timers a little unclear, level of difficulty for the questions on a scale of 1-5...about 3 75. This was a second chance visit. Partner had Gecko's 1992 Salad. This is basically a chef salad and it was fine. I had a $13 BLT. Service was fine, except for the server who complained about being called into work for 6 tables. Ambiance is meh. Dark, dingy carpeting and dark wooden booths. TV's everywhere.
