Outstanding place to host a dinner buffet and fireworks viewing on the Manatee river for our nations 250th birthday!! on their mailing list so I received an email in May, invited my friend and her husband to join my husband and I for this fantastic event. Extremely well coordinated and executed, everything was polished down to free valet parking. Tables were beautifully decorated with flags, red, white and blue carnations, glow sticks, and a fan. Several buffet tables/stations were spread across the restaurant, and I did not get to try everything, but the food I had was. Fantastic. Lots of choices to satisfy everybody's desires. Great special cocktails too. Our server, Alycia, with excellent and as attentive as she could be, as a place was packed. It was also fun to see other enthusiastic patrons dressed up for the event. Seats were arranged on the patio for those who did not dine outside to watch the fireworks, and the city of Bradenton put on a fantastic 30 minute show. This is my second time here. Last year we had a much better meal. This time lack of flavor was the issue. I had the grouper oscar special and it required a lot of salt and pepper. Otherwise both the fish and crab meat were bland. flavor. My partner had the blackened ribeye. The ribeye cap was too thin, perhaps because we were there late and the best steaks were gone, but it was tasty. He also was given a generous serving of broccoli, which was a little on the soggy side. The double-stuffed potatoe was good. My daughter had scampi florentine. The shrimp was also lacking flavor but the pasta and sauce were really good. I love the ambiance and would return, since our first meal was really good. read more

Wonderfully delightful experience. Had a nice Sunday lunch out on the patio. The place is dog friendly. We brought our dog tango. They provided a bowl of ice water for him and he was very happy. Justin, our server, was excellent and what a trooper as he is from Missouri not quite used to the Florida heat, but he did great. We really loved the margarita pizza and and grouper sandwich. But our biggest delight was the Keylime pie. Wow what an impressive dessert just the right amount of tartness, and the crust was excellent. If we're ever in the Bradenton area, we would certainly come back. By the way, the views of the water are really spectacular worth sitting outside even if it's a little warm. read more

Okay the amount of times we've been here and I've never written a review.. I can't believe it lol! Better now than never! We are local to Bradenton and have eaten at many waterfront/waterview restaurants and Pier 22 is just by far my favorite. Not only for the incredible view (we've even seen dolphins while dining here! ) but also the food has never ever ever let me down. I am a celiac and I've always been treated with care here and have always had something beyond yummy to eat. The New Age flatbread is my all time favorite, it's an order I have on repeat. My fiance loves their Prime New York Strip and Stuffed Jail Island Salmon. We've also enjoyed wings together, so far we've tried Mirin Sake Glazed and Caribbean Jerk.. we're not quite sure which one is our favorite yet. The service has never ever disappointed here either! As a family, we recently had dinner up Pier 22 to celebrate my dad's birthday and everything from the service to the ambience to the food was 10 out of 10! I wish I could remember our server's name, but his honesty was appreciated and his energy was exuberant. We ended up sitting outside on the patio and it was such a treat to not only watch the sunset, but all the fun and beautiful boats that passed by the Rockefeller oysters and the lobster cargot are must orders! I'm a regular at this place and last night we tried a few different things. We sat outside on a Saturday night by the water and it was nice. The only thing that was not enjoyable was the choice of music. The music didn't match the ambiance. Service depends on your waitress or waiter- last night the lady didn't fill up our waters enough but she was still nice. Went alone one Sunday afternoon and was sat by the water with a great view. It took a long time to be waited on and unfortunately the waitress was not friendly or as warm as I expected or have experienced in the area. I ordered off the happy hour menu, had a Paloma and some kind of crab appetizer that had some bits of shell in the middle, nothing was done to rectify this or even an apology given but I didn't make a big deal about it either. I had a cup of clam chowder and it was incredible. Nothing needed to be changed there, the fresh bread that was brought was also a nice touch. I visited Pier22 while on a work trip and the food, service, and ambiance were amazing. The restaurant sits on the water so I was able to enjoy my dinner on the outside patio overlooking the water. It was very nice out and I enjoyed watching the boats come and go. I went for happy hour and tried two different items the soup and wings! I know it's hot out but I love a good minestrone soup and the buffalo wings were delicious. If I'm ever in the city visiting I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I opted for the crab cakes (broiled and served with a Creole remoulade, and extra vegtables - $34) and my colleague ordered the chicken penne pasta ($26). I guess I should have paid attention that the crab cakes were broiled -- I prefer mine pan fried with a crunchy crust on the outside. Broiled made it more like catfood, unfortunately. The food, however, was hit or miss. The presentation looked promising, but some dishes fell short in execution. The steak was a bit overcooked and lacked flavor, and while the seafood and asparagus had potential, they didn't quite come together as expected. The dish with the sauce was especially disappointing--heavy and overpowering, taking away from the rest of the flavors. Great location and a great deck area. The reason for the one-star rating is this: I was in town for business, and this place was only about an 8-minute walk from my hotel. I stopped by at 9:45 p.m. looking to grab a drink. I understand they close at 10:00 p.m., but they had two bars, and both were already closed. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive throughout, and the prices were not that bad. When we ate here 4 years ago we were not that impressed, but everything we had on this visit was really good much to our surprise. We ordered short ribs, monte cristo, and the French dip. The bbq sauce on the ribs was awesome, the monte cristo was very memorable in a great unique way, and the French dip was tender and delicious, the fries I think were hand cut and they were ok. Service was awesome! Kelly did a great job. We had not been since a funeral reception for a friend 15 years ago. Looks like newly remodeled outside. We ate inside with a view of the Manatee river. I got one of the specials 8oz lobster with hollandaise sauce and Parmesan cheese. I got cream spinach and a half a twice baked potato for my two sides after eating half the lobster I was very full. We did have a bowl of clam chowder with a clam in every bite, it really was one of the best clam chowder around my other half got the other special which was red fish with a lemon butter sauce, which was so good got extra sauce. The views both outside and inside are wonderful and the prices were very reasonable especially for a beautiful location getting there a little early before six. It's happy hour so saved money on cocktails so very affordable will definitely be back for date night. We do date night once a month and pier 22 will definitely be in the rotation. read more

Had our son's graduation dinner here. It was a very nice place, but not as good as I expected. The good things: they took our reservation for 13, they had a great menu with several choices I actually wanted, the drinks were good, the service was very good, and the views are outstanding. The not so good things: several people in our group were unhappy with their meals (duck was chewy and a bit over, lobster was rubbery, Ossi bucco was over-cooked and dry, grouper sauce wasn't traditional, NE chowder didn't taste right, and one of our prime rib cuts came out over-cooked twice). My scallops were good, but the sticky rice wasn't hot enough and the wok vegetables were underwhelming and could have had more seasoning). It was very helpful that they took care of that after we explained the issue. Overall not sure I'd return. read more

My husband and I went to Pier 22 last night for our wedding anniversary. We have been a few times before and always enjoyed it as a special place to eat. We reserved an outside table. We were redirected three times where to go for our seat. Not one person smiled at ass oror was gracious about the previous misdirection. The waiter was indifferent. Again no smile, no interest or small talk. When we left, no one said goodbye or thanked us for joining them. The girl on the way out was on her phone. The food is very good, part of what we're paying for is the service and that was very disappointing. We won't be back. read more

While we were visiting in Florida, we decided to try out Pier 22. Highly recommend going during happy hour. Our food was good we ordered the muscles. They were in a white wine, garlic butter and spinach sauce. I wish we didn't have to ask for bread, but we did even though I thought it was offered it wasn't. Then by the time we got our bread, which was approximately 10 minutes later our muscles were cold. Our service could've been a little bit better. The ambience was beautiful as we were looking onto the ocean. We will definitely return the next time We are in Florida. read more

I ended up ordering two especially with the happy hour special of $8/. The balsamic chips make for a delicious appetizer and I recommend you order two for the table. My family and I were visiting from Georgia and chose this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday after it was highly recommended to us. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We started with the shrimp cocktail, but the shrimp had not been properly deveined, which was an unpleasant way to begin the meal. I ordered the fish and chips, and the fish was dry and had a strong fishy odor. Fresh fish should never smell overly fishy, especially at a restaurant known for seafood. The pea risotto was also very dry and lacked the quality we expected. Even more concerning, three members of our party became ill later that evening after dinner. Our reservation was at 8:45 p.m., and the restaurant closed at 10:00 p.m., which made us wonder whether some of the food had been sitting for an extended period before being served. Our bill exceeded $400, making the poor quality of the food even more disappointing. I did speak with the manager about our experience. While she apologized, our concerns seemed to be dismissed because no other guests had reportedly become ill that evening. Unless every guest was personally contacted after leaving the restaurant, it's difficult to know whether anyone else experienced similar issues. Beyond the apology, there was no attempt to make the situation right--no partial refund, no invitation to return before we left town, and no other gesture of goodwill. The one bright spot of our evening was our server, who was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service despite the disappointing food. Lastly, I would also note that the restrooms had a strong sulfur or rotten egg odor, which only added to our negative impression. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality seafood dining experience. We had high expectations for a special birthday dinner, but unfortunately, they were not met. read more

My partner took me for a birthday lunch and the experience was incredible. It started with an appetizer that is inspired by the Monte Cristo sandwich. It was truly remarkable and the dipping sauce paired nicely. I then was introduced to red fish, basically because it was on the luncheon specials. What a great meal. We topped it off with a crème brûlée with coffee and I was floored. If only the waiter was as talented as the chef, this might have earned another star.
