Had our son's graduation dinner here. It was a very nice place, but not as good as I expected. The good things: they took our reservation for 13, they had a great menu with several choices I actually wanted, the drinks were good, the service was very good, and the views are outstanding. The not so good things: several people in our group were unhappy with their meals (duck was chewy and a bit over, lobster was rubbery, Ossi bucco was over-cooked and dry, grouper sauce wasn't traditional, NE chowder didn't taste right, and one of our prime rib cuts came out over-cooked twice). My scallops were good, but the sticky rice wasn't hot enough and the wok vegetables were underwhelming and could have had more seasoning). This place has a great view but after many tries we have found the food subpar at best and the service was subpar also. On our last visit my wife and I had the 1976 salads. My wife had the smaller salad and I had the larger one. The only difference was the increased price and the portion looked the same for the large only in a bigger bowl. The salads were awful with soggy lettuce, they were watery, and had very little taste. The waitress seemed put out by having to refill our drinks and was not attentive at all. I'm a regular at this place and last night we tried a few different things. We sat outside on a Saturday night by the water and it was nice. The only thing that was not enjoyable was the choice of music. The music didn't match the ambiance. Service depends on your waitress or waiter- last night the lady didn't fill up our waters enough but she was still nice. Service was awesome! Kelly did a great job. We had not been since a funeral reception for a friend 15 years ago. Looks like newly remodeled outside. We ate inside with a view of the Manatee river. I got one of the specials 8oz lobster with hollandaise sauce and Parmesan cheese. I got cream spinach and a half a twice baked potato for my two sides after eating half the lobster I was very full. We did have a bowl of clam chowder with a clam in every bite, it really was one of the best clam chowder around my other half got the other special which was red fish with a lemon butter sauce, which was so good got extra sauce. The views both outside and inside are wonderful and the prices were very reasonable especially for a beautiful location getting there a little early before six. It's happy hour so saved money on cocktails so very affordable will definitely be back for date night. We do date night once a month and pier 22 will definitely be in the rotation. read more

We recently dined here and had a mixed experience. The atmosphere is definitely a highlight--beautiful outdoor setting with soft lighting and a relaxing vibe that makes for a lovely evening. The food, however, was hit or miss. The presentation looked promising, but some dishes fell short in execution. The steak was a bit overcooked and lacked flavor, and while the seafood and asparagus had potential, they didn't quite come together as expected. The dish with the sauce was especially disappointing--heavy and overpowering, taking away from the rest of the flavors. Views and cleanliness 5 star. Our server was helpful and very nice. My martini was good and they have stuffed olives which is a plus. I had the catch of the day with chef vegetables and risotto. It was just okay. Fish was battered with black olives on top. The broccoli and carrots didn't have much flavor. I opted for the crab cakes (broiled and served with a Creole remoulade, and extra vegtables - $34) and my colleague ordered the chicken penne pasta ($26). I guess I should have paid attention that the crab cakes were broiled -- I prefer mine pan fried with a crunchy crust on the outside. Broiled made it more like catfood, unfortunately. Pier 22 is a large well-operated restaurant, with a large menu focused on seafood, but with something to offer for all tastes. The view of the wide river is delightful during daylight hours and the outside seating area is quite nice. The Pier 22 Salad was great and the Grouper Oscar with crab meat over corn risotto and topped with asparagus spears was exceptional. On a later visit, we had oysters (just one option -- they were large and meaty, but not the best flavor), Lobster-cargo (lobster in garlic butter -- excellent), fish tacos (delicious and satisfying) and some yellowtail nigiri (decent, but I'll stick with the regular menu items in the future). Prices, including for wine, are very fair for a high-end restaurant. Service was prompt and professional. I'll definitely return when visiting again! read more

Stephanie was our server this afternoon and was spot on! She was very attentive and since we were here for the fabulous happy hour that made a big difference. I so looked forward to our Pier 22 experience. I requested their best table and got a lovely table on patio with great water view. Wait staff was pleasant but we felt pretty neglected for our meal. This is a nice spot on the water, but we were seated in the sun when there were tons of seats in the shade. Hostess could be a little more friendly. We had a couple of happy hour drinks and the jalapeño poppers which were very good. Server was great. They had a few gluten-free options, including some typical sushi rolls and the jalapeño poppers. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive throughout, and the prices were not that bad. When we ate here 4 years ago we were not that impressed, but everything we had on this visit was really good much to our surprise. We ordered short ribs, monte cristo, and the French dip. The bbq sauce on the ribs was awesome, the monte cristo was very memorable in a great unique way, and the French dip was tender and delicious, the fries I think were hand cut and they were ok. While we were visiting in Florida, we decided to try out Pier 22. Highly recommend going during happy hour. Our food was good we ordered the muscles. They were in a white wine, garlic butter and spinach sauce. I wish we didn't have to ask for bread, but we did even though I thought it was offered it wasn't. Then by the time we got our bread, which was approximately 10 minutes later our muscles were cold. Our service could've been a little bit better. The ambience was beautiful as we were looking onto the ocean. We will definitely return the next time We are in Florida. read more

Such beautiful views from the patio of the Bay Area. We also got lucky and arrived during happy hour. They make a great old fashioned , very stiff the way I like my old fashioned. I ended up ordering two especially with the happy hour special of $8/. The balsamic chips make for a delicious appetizer and I recommend you order two for the table. We've Escargo Calamari w/ white sauce Grouper cake w/ white sauce Chowder Mushroom Arancini w/ red sauce All are delicious, except the two white sauces - just too sweet. I asked for their red instead, which is so much better. I also don't care for their butter which is house made with butter, cream cheese, Boursin - tastes good but I prefer the simple butter. The chowder is good but Smith & Wollensky's having had it just couple of weeks ago, is better, not as thick. If I've to pick one in this area, I prefer this one over Oak n Stone. I love this place! The food was decadent. We had the starter of balsamic chips (sorry, no pick) and they were fantastic. Our server was on top of it (bringing me another drink without even asking and before I was even out ). She was a gem! The restaurant location is perfect, right along the Manatee River (which goes out to the gulf), and our table view was lovely! They also have a side room for events. We were down visiting with family and they took us to Pier 22. They go there often and said the food is great and it did not disappoint! I had the Wasabi Tuna as recommended by our server, Kirby, who did a wonderful job with recommendations and waiting on us. My sister is Gluten Free and she was very knowledgeable on the menu and helping her pick something out. The Tuna was amazing as well. The prickly pear mule was refreshing and delicious! For our second annual reunion, a restaurant called Pier22, located in Bremerton, was selected as it was the mid-point for all attendees. Situated in a harbor, there were views of the yachts and water at just about any place you sat in the restaurant. We were looking forward to the camaraderie that comes with long-time friendships. We were escorted to our table by hostess Kassi who seemed determined to provide a memorable dining experience for us. A glance at the menu provided us with many culinary delights to choose from. Kassi explained menu selections and specialties in a way that enhanced our choices. Her customer service throughout our meal made us all feel special. From the clam chowder soup that was excellent to the flatbread and other menu selections we knew we were in for a treat. What a great way to start our meal. There were rave reviews from all of us as we feasted on each choice selected. I ordered the grouper sandwich, which was cooked to perfection. Kassi's customer service was a real credit to Pier22. Where do I start?? Ordered a basic hamburger and fries. Asked for mayo on bun. Nope tomato so soggy and thin you could read a news paper through it. Fries tasted like they were 2 days old. Waiter was pleasant, but never refilled our drinks. My wife ordered chicken croissant. Should has been called and onion sandwich. Her tomato was soggy and paper thin. She left most of it. Let me start with the fact we have dined at Pier 22 quite a few times and we're hoping this last visit was an anomaly. Several things were good, but several bad. We got seated right away for dinner with friends, waitress came and took our drink order right away. I asked about the sushi but waitress said she wouldn't get sushi there. And I was hoping for some good sushi. Drinks were okay. Appetizers arrived quickly and that was probably the bright spot of the evening. Raw oysters were large, meatballs tasty. Waitress never told us any specials so we had to ask if there were any. When our meals came it was a disappointment. Crab cakes were okay, risotto was barely warm. A friend got Scampi Florentine and said it was most definitely not Florentine. Pretty much every dish was plain, nothing special. I ordered a second drink early but for about 15-20 minutes, we never saw the waitress. Then when she passed by, I had to ask again. We were pretty much done before second drink came. We were quite ready to leave. We have had good experiences here and 5 stars every time. This was pushing it to get three. For the two of us, not the experience we expected, definitely not $175's worth. Not sure we'll be back anytime soon. read more

A nice restaurant in a beautiful setting with a good menu however, our server Kirby really distracted from what could have otherwise been a great experience. Even though it was later in the night and she only had maybe one other table, she was completely absent seemingly more interested in cleaning the restaurant than attending to us. I had to get up several times for drinks, condiments, and other things we needed after our food was dropped off by someone from the kitchen and she never came over once to even ask how we were doing. Came here while visiting family. It's down on the pier and has plenty of parking and free valet. It's a good size with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were friendly and attentive. We were seated and our waiter was very good. The menu is different from lunch and dinner so not all items in the reviews are always available. Me and the wife shared the chicken penne pasta and the chicken bruschetta. Both were good but forgot pics. My nephew did try the alligator sandwich and said it was very good. I have been going to Pier 22 since it was Twin Dolphin Grill over 25 years ago. I will NEVER go there again. I could stand the high prices, great location and view, WONDERFUL STAFF. They decided to change menu, totally understand it is trying times, although the pea risotto is DISGUSTING, could live with that. New manager is ........................pathetic.
