I've been eating food from Basils for all of my adult life, at least 30 years. It's not what it used to be though, I'm not exactly sure what's changed. However I'm still a fan of their chicken, pita bread and butter, and their salad. Wow I know I've been away from the area for a couple years but what used to be a favorite 'go to' has gone by-by. Chicken was skimpy and flavorless and the tossed salad is a joke. Was walking by after getting my nails done next door and went in to see the menu. Should have known it was going to go welll...no one greeted me then the guy behind the line said she be right there. Well she walked up complaining that she can't do 2 things at one...I ordered the Gyro wrap no onions asked if there were fries she promptly said "nothing fried here" we'll ok then. No other words. Extremely unfriendly. I said ok I'll have the tossed salad. Since I had said it was to go she was done with me. Food came fast. I open it because she didn't ask me what kind of salad dressing I wanted. To my surprise it was drowning in what she called creamy Italian yuck. But ok I said any cucumbers or anything besides lettuce and dressing. She promptly said no thats all extra. So I took my food and my lettuce home. When I open the bag there were no napkins nothing. No offer from the unfriendly lady to even give me so I assumed since my order was to go there would be a napkin and a fork. NOTHING!! NOW let's talk about the gyro wrap... Disgusting is being nice. The meat taste like its days old. And my lettuce drowning in dressing is just blah. So this cost me $12 and I never eat there again. Maybe I should have tried the chicken, but no one offered me any kind of suggestions, nothing. This review is only about their so-called "AREA'S BEST HOT WINGS" and their Mac and Cheese. The wings pic on their website indicates what one would expect from great hot wings. The reality of their wings is... "What the heck are these?" I should have taken a pic. Dry. Horrible sauce. The most gangly assortment of "wings" I've ever seen. Essentially inedible. Ate a few, threw away the rest. Yes, I know. They flame broil. Fine. The website pic makes them look delish. Nope. The Mac and Cheese? NO FLAVOR. I don't know how you mess up Mac and Cheese. A KRAFT box of fluorescent yellow / orange powder would have been better. Flavor that tasteless sauce, please! Maybe all their other offerings are delicious. I'll probably never find out. read more

Fantastic find! We were looking to travel a little further north before stopping for a bite to eat, but traffic was so backed up, we stopped in this little place. The chicken and ribs were delicious, so moist and tasty. I like Gyro's, a lot. Basil's is an excellent place to grab a delicious gyro lunch or a weekday dinner for the fam all at a very reasonable price. My wife loves their chicken salad pita, she says it trumps the gyro... I argue that. The owner is a nice guy and his staff are also nice. The prices are fair and their product is always fresh and consistent. The joint is clean and their bathrooms are as well. My only qualm with Basil's is that they are a "Pepsi only" joint.. Check out Basil's and have a delicious gyro. Or take my wife's advice and try a chicken pita. Up to you! read more

I've heard good things about Basil's so we decided to try it. I don't know if it's this location specifically or if what we got is an indication of the whole chain, but we will NOT return. The chicken was dry, and there was very little of it. The Mac and cheese was gluey and had an odd flavor. The baked beans were meh. As for the Gyro, my husband said, "Arby's makes a better one, and Arby's gyros aren't very good." The portion sizes are very small. The service was also awful. read more

Stopped here a couple weeks ago to try the food and was beyond impressed with the overall service, friendliness, and the taste of the food. I didn't realize that this was a staple in the community as I was introduced to it from a couple of friends; it truly is a mom-and-pops place that you have to come in and try out. It'll turn into an every day event for you... not only will you be surrounded by some of the same faces on a daily basis, it seems the employees not only know the peoples names but their orders as well. George, who I later found out is the owner of the store, knew my order the second day I came in. I noticed that he didn't let anyone leave without asking them how there meal was and thanking them on the way out. Service was prompt, friendly, helpful and polite. I didn't have the chicken, but my husband said it was "Ok, but KFC's broiled is better". Simply AWFUL. I had spinach pie, Greek salad, gyros and something they called mashed potatoes. They don't warn you there's probably yogurt in the mashed potatoes and the gravy, just enough to make them taste sour. They taste really nasty. We took a few bites and left it. They must surprise a lot of people with that, I wonder why they insist on preparing it that way. I can see if it's supposed to be 'Greek' style mashed potatoes, but if you're going to do that, add some GREEK SEASONING (oregano, dill, garlic, olive oil) and WARN people so they don't think you're serving sour, spoiled potatoes. Ti einai afto? Their food is REALLY BAD. It's salty, especially the gyros was so overly salted and full of oregano I made a face when I ate it (did not finish it). The so-called Greek salad had VERY WATERY dressing & no taste, not even salty. The feta they use has no taste (must be domestic. Real feta has an unmistakable tang. The crap they put on the salad was bland like cottage cheese. Domestic is cheaper, but perhaps a better quality would help). How can they ruin spinach pie (spanakopita)? They use margarine, and no-flavor feta, no dill. It looked nice but it was VERY disappointing to eat. We each took one bite and stopped eating it. Heavy and greasy food is not fun if it has no taste. Most gyros I've had anywhere in the USA come with cucumber-yogurt sauce called tzadziki . Their gyros came with plain yogurt, no cukes or spices. Some onion and tomato, but no sauce. HELLO! I'm part Greek, I'm missin' the tzadziki. Anyone who knows what they're eating would. Hubby said his cole slaw was fine, but then it probably was made by a third party. The creamy italian dressing on iceberg lettuce salad he had was so-so. I asked the high-school aged person taking our order to put our food in take-out containers (I usually eat half a portion, take the rest home). He said 'sure, no problem' but did NOT do it, we were served on plates. That was ok, because we LEFT most of it there (well, we bussed our own table and threw it away). I wouldn't take any of it home. Yuck. No wonder no one has ever recommended this place to us. NEVER go there. What a waste of money. Who told them they could cook? NOT! I have had the chicken salad from other Basil's locations and this is, by far, the best Basil's chicken salad. At another location I would periodically find piece of bone in the salad, but not here. No gloves used putting raw chicken on the grill is necessary. Yeah please tell that to the heath inspector. This is my favorite place to get ribs, fajitas, and chicken for the kids. I know that the food is healthy and delicious. I also appreciate the drive through, so I can pick up and bring hot food home for dinner. With two kids in sports, I rely on eating out quite a lot. I consistently depend on Basil's for their great selection and have also had them cater for a few parties we have hosted. The ribs, Greek salad, pita bread, rice pudding, baklava are all so good!! I will never visit this establishment again. This will be my second 1 star review I've ever made. When approaching the door I noticed the trash was literally overflowing from the trash can. When walking up to the counter I was greeted nicely and given a run down of their specialties which include chargrilled chicken and pitas. That's when it just started going downhill. The cashier/Cook started a coughing fit. No problem, got a tickle in your throat, it happens to us all. No, this was a full on 20 minute hacking up a lung coughing while preparing my food (without gloves) I may add. The Manger or owner was also there. At one point he finally did tell her to go grab some water but it didn't stop. I mean disgusting. I got my food, was so grossed out the food could have been spectacular and I still wouldn't have been able to enjoy it. But it wasn't, it wasn't spectacular at all. The brocolli was heated in the microwave and super bland and the pasta salad was dripping wet with some sweet mayo concoction. Chicken is good but mac and cheese is horrible. Such an odd taste. Corn on cobb was just okay.

We ordered 3 gyros to go and got home and found out they forgot the tzatziki sauce. We called to let them know and they offered to refund the 54 cents for the sauce the NEXT time we came in. We realize people make mistakes but how about "we are sorry and we owe you a free coke". Something would have been nice. As we all know the sauce makes the meal. read more

Basil's used to be one of my favorites so we were happy to learn there is one close by. I hate to write them off on one experience given the quality of food I had previously come to know from Basil's but I was more than a little disappointed this time. The chicken was severely dried-out. The salad was just as I always remember it but being that this is an establishments known for their chicken, I would expect that they would not want their signature item to be the worst part of a meal.
