The updates here have changed the vibe and the food from MJ is still terrific. We had the escargot and honey brie to start then each ordered our own entrees - 16oz Prime NY strip, Duck and Gorgonzola tenderloin tips. All come with two sides. Terrific meal. Service was excellent. Great all around!

I lived in this area for 14 years and never knew this place existed. The food was exceptional! Our servers were on top of it, never letting our drinks get empty and regularly ensuring we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself has sections or separate rooms which helps keep the ambiance cozy minimizing the noise. If you're in the area, and need a nice place for a special dinner, don't let the location deter you. You won't regret it!

Truly outstanding. The service was perfect, very professional with frequent check ins and friendly conversation. The ambiance is lovely with low mood lighting and Italian influence pictures on the walls. The food? Stunning! I got the filet mignon cooked perfectly. We also got (not pictured) the calamari, onion rings, and baked Brie. Definitely recommend for an intimate date night out, or for our instance, a warm birthday dinner with family!

Atmosphere - Nice. The restaurant has speakeasy feel. As you enter, there is a small bar that seats roughly 6 people. From what I can tell there are two dining rooms, one a bit larger than the other Service - very good. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. What I most appreciated was that the service team worked together to support one another. Food - very good. I had the Beer and Cheddar soup as a starter. It was good, but somewhat bland. For my entree, I had one of the specials, which was called a Filet Mignon Oscar, with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. The filet was very good, as was the mashed potatoes and asparagus. Overall Value - Very Good! The prices are reasonable and the food very. I will definitely return.

For our first visit to MJ's as a special date night, we made a same-day reservation on a Thursday evening after 8pm. Service was warm and attentive, and we were seated at a booth. There was a group of about 10 other diners celebrating a birthday and another couple there for a romantic very-dressed-up date night. Decor oozed of classy+sassy Hollywood. We ordered the roasted garlic appetizer with fresh bread, roast duck with port wine glaze, the coq au vin blanc special, and crème brûlée. A fun amusé of pepper soup was complimentary. Beverages included prosecco (glass), Kentucky bourbon barrel ale (draft) and Courvoisier. We enjoyed everything and will definitely return. Will most likely need to procure a bottle of their special batch "Maker's Mark Michael John's Bradentucky bourbon whisky" !!

First time visit and I enjoyed the experience. We had a drink at the bar and we were the only guests there so it was nice as we could easily talk. I had a peach martini which was excellent. She shook it so well that ice crystals were on top, which was great. The four of us had a nice table and I liked that there was no music playing so we could easily talk. The servers all seem to share tables, so there was always someone helping us. The menu is very nice, with a variety of items. I started with the beer cheddar soup. I liked that they didn't take our entree order until we were done with our starter. While waiting for our starter, they brought out bread and butter, which was very good. They also gave us a complimentary small cup of broccoli cheddar soup. It was extremely salty. My beer cheddar soup wasn't what I had hoped, and my husband had ordered the tomato Gorgonzola soup and didn't care for it so we switched. Well...... I liked his soup less than I liked mine. I would get a salad next time. For my entree I chose the chicken cordon bleu which came with whipped potatoes and vegetables. Food arrived timely and our plates were nice and hot and so was the food. The portion was huge. I loved the carrot! The chicken was more coated and crunchy than I anticipated and not nearly enough cheese for me. The potatoes were good. Service was exceptional and atmosphere was very nice.

The ambiance is quaint and calm. The walls are adorned with wine bottles and black and white photos in a dimly lit setting. We had such a pleasant experience with the service. It was top notch! We ordered Beer Cheese Soup, Stuffed Flounder, and Filet Mignon which were cooked to perfection. They also provided a complimentary taste of Broccoli Cheese Soup with our drinks. It was hands down the best I'd ever tasted! I would highly recommend this establishment and I will definitely be back again!

Food was delicious! However it is in a small shopping center, so I think people take a drive by. Definitely recommend!

The manager actually said "I don't know what to tell you" when we asked if he thought this was ok? The final straw was the incredibly filthy ladies room. If I were having a wedding or an event here, I would be mortified for my guests. If I had gone there first, I would never ever have eaten there Do better Whiskey Joe - this is a prime location and could be so much better with better management!

If it's too hot, or the sun is beating down upon you, ask for seats in the shaded areas/umbrellas. There's a small beach there , many kids running around, their goofing around while waiting for their meal. There is a bar area. Not huge, but since they open @ 11am.. I'd imagine that area is probably full for most of the rest of the day . So, if you're going to sit there, get there by 11:30am. We had a group of five, so we started off sharing the spicy queso dip and the shrimp and crab dip. Both are excellent, the shrimp and crab dip were to die for! A blackened chicken sandwich was tasty and quite well received. The mahi-mahi fish sandwich was blackened, still tasty but slightly underwhelmed. Should've done the grouper. Others in the group were quite satisfied with their meals. Service was good but the place is spread out and quite busy most of the time we were there, which was mid afternoon on a Saturday. This place is fantastic, and if I had to choose between Woody's River Roo & and Whiskey Joe's- I'd take Whiskey Joe's every time. They also have a better selection of craft beers. This is not meant to assassinate Woody's River Roo . The food and drinks are good there. Their prices are reasonable, Their atmosphere is good there. But pound for pound Whiskey Joe's is better. If you want to nitpick , Joe's is priced higher and their parking area is much smaller. Hence, many people choose to do the valet parking. I guess those could be construed as negatives. Again JOE's just puts out a slightly better experience.

The bisque was served hot and it was very good. The lamb was served over mashed potatoes and had broccolini on the side. The portion was generous. It too was served hot.
