The food was excellent. I loved the mix of different Mediterranean dishes. We started with the Moroccan pulled chicken, pineapple hummus. So yummy. Then we had the falafel (3 pieces), they were not drenched in oil and I could taste the herbs and spices. We then shared the lamb loin shaslik (kebab )s erved with rice. The dish was delicious. We ran out of time for dessert, as we had tickets for the ballet. Their dessert menu had baklava, black sesame brulee. The service was good.

Entertainment at the restaurant for New Year's Eve

Tonight we had theater tickets and this place is right across the street and the art hotel and we decided to give it a try. We ate their New Year's Eve as part of a New Year's Eve ticket, but we didn't eat there and order off a menu that was a buffet the food was very good then and it was great tonight we had we shared a salad with the their own vinaigrette dressing, which was better than wonderful and then we each had chicken shot stick, which was excellent. It came on yams with a kind of a jelly apricot that they put on it and it was wonderful and then we shared a piece of Turkish coffee cake with believe it or not Pepper, ice cream and coffee. I can't rave enough about this meal. It was so good so this is an easy five star. our waitress was also terrific. Her name was Burcu

Very solid meal Nice presentation - creative menu and lots of energy to make it great Fresh ingredients Hits Atmosphere Creativity Interesting menu Misses On the bland side - needs more spice ! (They don't have real amba, harissa not up to sniff, etc) Servers weren't always on task They have the ability, needs refinement and more flavor in the food

Normally I don't dine at hotel restaurants but walking by Tzeva I noticed the menu and nice looking outdoor dining and decided to take a chance. They have a good selection of middle eastern dishes served as appetizers, small plates and large plates We picked a few small plates including vegetable pakora, lamb white bean hummus, charred octopus and Israeli salad. Loved all dishes, the salad was light and refreshing, vegetable pakora was a great deal for $5 and the charred octopus was tender and flavorful. Bread is included with meal. Good selection of wines. We got the Seeker Pinot grigio which complemented our meal and reasonably priced at $37. All in all we had an excellent experience, good food, atmosphere and fair prices. After the meal they allowed us to bring our wine upstairs to the 8th floor rooftop for a view of the Sarasota sunset.

I was visiting my parents for their 59th wedding anniversary and you KNOW I am all about trying out new places and potentially reviewing them. Because a girl's got to have hobbies! Dad sent me a link to Tzeva's website and I was intrigued. I read the Tzeva menu, which is being billed as "mediterranean." But is more a "fusion" of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Indian. I was IN! Turns out Mom and Dad had eaten there the night before. So...now we're regulars?? The Art Ovation Hotel is lovely, you can dine inside or outside. The outdoor setting is pretty fantastic. I highly recommend, because it is on a patio space that is raised up above the sidewalk/street level and you're right in the heart of downtown Sarasota, with municipal parking on one side and theaters on the other. So the people watching is an A+! A good time was had by all! Two Things: When I eat a restaurant for the first time (or really any time) I'm going to try to eat As Many Things As Possible. And a place that serves "small plates" or "tapas" style food is my jam! Tzeva is that kind of place. You've got Daily Vegetable selections AND Hummus (as in an entire Hummus section!!) AND small plates AND salads AND kebabs AND "large plates." Uhhhh....YES PLEASE. Mom and Dad already know what's coming if we're trying a new place. Do NOT eat before dinner. Make an EARLY reservation That way we can attempt as much food as possible! Eat to win my friends! EAT TO WIN!! So! You know, I wanted to get ALL 5 of the Daily Veg Selection. But Dad objected to having to eat pickled veg AND slaw. He would only agree to the selection if we could get grilled veg x2 and Pakora (after I explained to him what Pakora is: in essence, deep fried veggie fritters/dumplings). All I'm gonna say is that they loved Pakora so much we ordered a second round and Dad was SUPER EXCITED to have discovered a new food he can order every time (they're moving into an apartment DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET next month...). The Pakora was, in fact, perfect: crispy, flavorful, served HOT. Grilled veg was Broccolini and they knocked it out of the park. I have NEVER had Broccolini that was as good. And I've eaten a lot of damn Broccolini. I also loved the pickles. I don't even know what they were. Ate the whole bowl. Marinated mushrooms? Perfection. We got 3 Hummus': Vegetarian (with curried cauliflower on top!!!!); "traditional" (with Aleppo seasoning, so I think we're talking Syrian); and Masabacha. All are served with soft, warm Pita. The Hummus is delicious. I prefer my Hummus in the Lebanese/Israeli style: puréed to silky smooth. This is not that. It is slightly chunky. Still, DELICIOUS. We ordered Falafel. May I just say, Tzeva is THE BEST FALAFEL I've ever had in the US. No. Really. The Falafel is light and fluffy and served hot and full of parsley. PERFECTION. Usually I skip Falafel because it is dense and greasy here. Not THIS Falafel. GET IT! We ALL had the Romaine salad, which is Tzeva's take on a Caesar Salad. It's not, strictly a Caesar, but it is DELICIOUS! And topped with a scoop of Quinoa. So! HEALTHY!! I then ordered the Snapper large plate (over the loud and repeated objections of my father, who kept insisting that Grouper is always better in Sarasota. But I don't like to eat the Groupers. They're so friendly. The poor bastards...). The Snapper comes with Za'atar, dukkha, Bombay yams, pickled smoked carrots, muhammara. Let's just take a moment to talk about the yams. Which are ACTUAL yams (not the orange sweet potatoes that a lot of Americans think are yams...) and served with everything and are SO INCREDIBLY GOOD. I ate a lot of the yams... The Snapper was crazy good. No, really. SO FREAKING GOOD. Wow. Much much more flavorful than I anticipated or expected. EXCELLENT. GET THE SNAPPER! Skip dessert... Our waitress was pretty FANTASTIC. But Tzeva is clearly still struggling a little with their "systems." So bring your patience and your kindness, but bring yourself! Because this place is GOOD GOOD!

A lovely setting within the hotel, if a bit overpriced - as is typical of hotel restaurants. The menu has great variety - at our table, the açaí bowl and kebab breakfast were particular hits. I do wish that the kebab had come with one more skewer, or one more pita - I was still a little peckish after my meal. Service was very attentive to our large group. My only pass was the coffee - very bitter, would have loved to see elevated options like French press to go with the more elevated food menu.

Very rarely can you say you had a "dining experience" when you go to a restaurant. Well, I can wholeheartedly say that is what you get when you go to Tzeva, My family and I dined there several weeks ago and are still raving about it. The ambiance is lovely and Dylan, the manager ( with a great Australian accent) bent over backwards to ensure everything was perfect. Rather than each of us ordering an entree, we tried all of the appetizers, small plates and salads. We also split two entrees. Some stand outs were the falafel, charred octopus, the hummous and the lamb kebab. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, we decided to try 2 desserts. The Black Sesame Brulee and the Turkish Coffee Cake. Please give this restaurant a try. You will not be sorry. You will be amazed! We also ate at Tzeva for breakfast and it was so delicious. There are many options on the menu but we loved the veggie omelet and the Acai bowl. One morning I ordered the steel cut oatmeal with the accompanients on the side. Wow! ( Photo attatched so you too can say, "Wow." ) Head over there and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere. Again, Dylan will make sure you are well taken care of.

Hidden gem takes on a new meaning when the restaurant is in fact, hidden. We received a friendly welcome when we walked in and shown to a table. I knew they offered Beef Stroganoff and did end up ordering it as my entrée, but started with their Lagman soup. Listed as a noodle soup, it was much more than that. Very flavorful red broth, with beef, veggies and of course those homemade pulled noodles. My wife and I split a bowl and both of us had plenty of soup. Next came the Beef Stroganoff, and this is where I should defer to the other reviews that speak very highly of the authenticity of the dishes at Garden of Joy. I believe everyone in the restaurant except us, staff and customers, spoke Russian, so you know this is the real deal. As for me, I admit I like my wife's stroganoff better, but I suppose my expectations were not fair and biased. We completed our meal by sharing a Napolean Cake, a layered treat that was an excellent finish. I forgot to ask if it was made in house or brought in, but either way it was I'm glad we tried it.

FOOD: You can choose between a la carte or the Prix Fixe menu. The Prix Fixe is a small-portioned three-course (bite, appetizer, and entrée) menu featuring some of our signature dishes. The Prix Fixe experience begins at $58 per person (there are additional add-ons) for dine-in only. 1. Waterzooi Soup (3/5; Red Farms chicken | caramelized leeks | carrots | local cream | focaccia toast | parsley emulsion | carrot purée): This is a Belgian soup. The serving size of the soup in the prix fixe was relatively small. The presentation was nice, and the chicken soup was a nice winter dish. The chicken broth was savory but at room temperature. 2. Autumn Salad (2/5; mixed artisanal greens | brûléed bucheron cheese | radicchio | toasted French walnuts | red grapes | fig balsamic vinaigrette): I felt like something was lacking from this seasonal autumn salad. The restaurant is perfectly decorated and tastefully outfitted with table settings, silverware, plates and interior décor that just 'spanks' of elegance and fine dining. Service and attention to ALL details by "Grayson" was exceptional. He is witty, enthusiastic and knew the menu and all aspects of the place!! The bus service was also military, sleuthy and efficient. We started with some very nice breads/rolls and an oil dipping sauce. First Course was the Roasted Garlic Caesar which was VERY nice with luscious greens and nice dressing. 9/10 As well I had the Kale Salad with Toasted Almonds, Dried Cranberries, Sweet Potato and (I held the Goat Cheese), this was a very nice medley of ingredients and textures. I left off the goat cheese for a nice vegan/heart friendly course. 10/10 The mains / second course were the Fresh Catch (Mahi Mahi) w/ Honey Mango Salsa, Grilled Vegetables and Sriracha-Lime Sweet Potatoes that had a very properly cooked piece of fish. the zucchini and squash vegetables were nicely cooked and the sweet potatoes were also el dente firm and very enjoyable. 9/10 I got the Vegan Medley of Roasted Beets, Baby Carrots, Onion, Sweet Potato and Broccoli w/ Balsamic Reduction. This entrée arrived nice and hot! This was a very nice offering and I was happy to see it. I thought possibly a bit over roasted as the sweet potatoes on this entre were dry and hence a little 'tough'. If you look at the picture the carrots are a bit dark and a little dry. The beets were wonderful and they were cooked perfectly. I would definitely order this again, but I might ask if they could keep the veggies more crispy and less cooked. 6/10 We got the Three Course gig as it was just a few dollars more for the dessert. and so the crème brûlée was as expected and VERY smooth and silky 10/10 The Chocolate Mousse Cake was also very nice with a smooth and silky mousse but the cake might have been a little firmer or over baked just a bit? 8/10 Finally the live music was a real treat with a "Matt" on violin playing appropriate and recognizable compositions in a nice dining/background volume. The ambiance and experience here is first rate and the food and service up to the finest levels in Sarasota. YES, we will be back!

I had a three course meal, starting with their Roasted Garlic Caesar Salad, followed by Pasta Carbonara with Guanciale and Pecorino Romano and Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee for dessert. The salad was fine, light and fresh with a slightly creamy dressing. A very good start. I also liked my pasta main course. The homemade pasta was a little dense, each noodle about an inch and a half long, not hollow. While I'm just more used to spaghetti or penne noodles, this was still a very good dish, quite authentic. Finishing off with something sweet, the Crème Brulee was fantastic. After the savory carbonara it was a perfect ending. We liked the restaurant, it was renovated a couple of years ago by new owners. There are a few different seating areas, a patio, outdoors, and I think a couple of rooms inside. Anyway, we sat inside in the room with the bar and enjoyed listening to a lovely singer with a guitar as well as our food. Savor Sarasota is an annual event where lots of area restaurants offer fixed price (prix fixe) dining for a couple of weeks (6/1/23-6/14/23).
