I heard Great things about Michael John's and it did not disappoint. We had a great dinner the other night atmosphere was upscale. Madison and Savanna gave us a very good service. Everything we ate was delicious. They started with bread, service and a little cup of delicious soup as a pallet starter. Appetizer we had calamari that was very flavorful. Definitely the star of the show for me was the Chicken Marsala bursting with flavor. The sides of mashed potato and green beans were equally delicious. Highly recommend having dinner at Michael John's. Looking forward to coming back!

The updates here have changed the vibe and the food from MJ is still terrific. We had the escargot and honey brie to start then each ordered our own entrees - 16oz Prime NY strip, Duck and Gorgonzola tenderloin tips. All come with two sides. Terrific meal. Service was excellent. Great all around!

I lived in this area for 14 years and never knew this place existed. The food was exceptional! Our servers were on top of it, never letting our drinks get empty and regularly ensuring we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself has sections or separate rooms which helps keep the ambiance cozy minimizing the noise. If you're in the area, and need a nice place for a special dinner, don't let the location deter you. You won't regret it!

Truly outstanding. The service was perfect, very professional with frequent check ins and friendly conversation. The ambiance is lovely with low mood lighting and Italian influence pictures on the walls. The food? Stunning! I got the filet mignon cooked perfectly. We also got (not pictured) the calamari, onion rings, and baked Brie. Definitely recommend for an intimate date night out, or for our instance, a warm birthday dinner with family!

Atmosphere - Nice. The restaurant has speakeasy feel. As you enter, there is a small bar that seats roughly 6 people. From what I can tell there are two dining rooms, one a bit larger than the other Service - very good. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. What I most appreciated was that the service team worked together to support one another. Food - very good. I had the Beer and Cheddar soup as a starter. It was good, but somewhat bland. For my entree, I had one of the specials, which was called a Filet Mignon Oscar, with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. The filet was very good, as was the mashed potatoes and asparagus. Overall Value - Very Good! The prices are reasonable and the food very. I will definitely return.

For our first visit to MJ's as a special date night, we made a same-day reservation on a Thursday evening after 8pm. Service was warm and attentive, and we were seated at a booth. There was a group of about 10 other diners celebrating a birthday and another couple there for a romantic very-dressed-up date night. Decor oozed of classy+sassy Hollywood. We ordered the roasted garlic appetizer with fresh bread, roast duck with port wine glaze, the coq au vin blanc special, and crème brûlée. A fun amusé of pepper soup was complimentary. Beverages included prosecco (glass), Kentucky bourbon barrel ale (draft) and Courvoisier. We enjoyed everything and will definitely return. Will most likely need to procure a bottle of their special batch "Maker's Mark Michael John's Bradentucky bourbon whisky" !!

First time visit and I enjoyed the experience. We had a drink at the bar and we were the only guests there so it was nice as we could easily talk. I had a peach martini which was excellent. She shook it so well that ice crystals were on top, which was great. The four of us had a nice table and I liked that there was no music playing so we could easily talk. The servers all seem to share tables, so there was always someone helping us. The menu is very nice, with a variety of items. I started with the beer cheddar soup. I liked that they didn't take our entree order until we were done with our starter. While waiting for our starter, they brought out bread and butter, which was very good. They also gave us a complimentary small cup of broccoli cheddar soup. It was extremely salty. My beer cheddar soup wasn't what I had hoped, and my husband had ordered the tomato Gorgonzola soup and didn't care for it so we switched. Well...... I liked his soup less than I liked mine. I would get a salad next time. For my entree I chose the chicken cordon bleu which came with whipped potatoes and vegetables. Food arrived timely and our plates were nice and hot and so was the food. The portion was huge. I loved the carrot! The chicken was more coated and crunchy than I anticipated and not nearly enough cheese for me. The potatoes were good. Service was exceptional and atmosphere was very nice.

Our service was great. The atmosphere is upscale steak house. Still casual in Florida. We started with the wedge and they split it for us. My steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. The vegetables were fresh. The truffle fries are a must. My wife had the hog fish. It was delicious also. We highly recommend this place.

Very good... pricey but not as unexpected. Could use some updating. Wish people wouldn't treat it as casual at this price point as we saw

The owners are a married couple with the husband in the front and the wife as the chef in the back. Classic French dishes executed very well with proper technique and delicious flavors. The mussels were my favorite although I rarely choose to eat seafood - which says a lot!! The escargot was buttery and soft. The bread was homemade with a stunning flower shaped butter which was well seasoned. They gave us an amuse bouche which was creamy vegetable soup - delicious! Scallops were seared nicely with a unique tangerine beurre blanc which complimented them well. Finished with a delicious gooey chocolate lava cake. The dinner, ambiance, and service were phenomenal. From the very beginning, you're greeted by the gregarious owner, who immediately makes you feel like you're a guest in his home. His enthusiasm and hospitality set the tone for the entire evening, and it's clear that the staff shares the same passion for creating an exceptional dining experience. Everyone works together seamlessly to make sure every guest feels welcomed and well cared for. We chose Antoine's to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary, and it couldn't have been a better choice. It's the perfect restaurant for a special occasion. The food was outstanding. We started with the mussels, and I've never seen such an extensive selection anywhere else--there must have been at least 10 different preparations to choose from. The duck and the scallops, both house specialties, were cooked perfectly and absolutely lived up to their reputation. To finish, we shared the French puff pastry filled with warm, melted Belgian chocolate. It was pure heaven and the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. If you're looking for an authentic Belgian-French dining experience with incredible food and even better hospitality, Antoine's is a true hidden gem in Sarasota. Don't just take our word for it--go experience it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Actually, just get there early anyway because the pastry items are fresher/better. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I typically skip trying to park next to it and just go to the garage and walk over. The service is more attentive than a typical French cafe overseas but not as on top of you as a typical place in the US. You can definitely order at the counter in French if you want to and I've had a waiter there flip between English, French, Spanish, and another language (maybe Romanian?) in one order. The sandwiches I've had were all lovely, and had a little side salad that could benefit from a better dressing (they serve an okay vinaigrette though). I've yet to encounter a single bad pastry - the elcairs, mousse cakes, and flaky pastries like chausson pommes are on par with the typical boulangerie/pattisserie in France and don't make me think US adaptation at all. Prices are reasonable.

I got the poularde crepe, wanting something savory. This was solid and tasty. Everyone else got nice little meals as well. I do feel like the portion and the quality is a little lacking for the price. That being said, I don't know that there are better French options in the area. I also got a palmier pastry and I should have gotten a croissant, the palmier tasted a little stale. The locale was adorable, with beautifully tiles tables really setting the scene. Overall, not terrible! Worthwhile if you're really feeling French.
