Tried this place on a busy Friday night. We sat at the bar. Service was excellent. The bartender came over right away to put paper down as our placemats & promptly served our drinks which were on HH. We ate very light & just grazed. Oysters were ok; they didn't seem to be fresh. HH peel & eat shrimp served cold were nice & plump & they cleaned out the vein! I've never seen any other place serve it like this! Since they were so good, I ordered coconut shrimp app for my dinner & loved them. I forgot what my husband ordered but he liked whatever it was! We were delighted to see Pincher's in Lakewood Ranch. We had lived in Naples and had gone there for years. The ambience is very casual and cute. They rip off sheets of brown paper for the table tops. It is nice to have a clean table top. There are LOT of choices on the menu. They do have the catch of the day, along with their usual choices. You can choose the preparation of the fish. There are a lot of choices for sides. Waitstaff are very helpful. They have a lot of choices for drinks and it is buy one, get one! Give it a try! read more

Staff was super friendly, responsive and attentive I had wings. Mild, very good. Hot, crispy and well worth it. Unfortunately, this was the best part of the meal. I had the Cobia special - broiled. The fish broccoli and coleslaw had absolutely zero flavor i've never seen a trifecta fail so bad. Fish had paprika, salt and pepper. If there was another seasoning, it definitely, yeah, was not standing out. The broccoli was blanched and then tossed in some garlic. So some flavors had garlic in it. Some broccoli had flavor some broccoli was just in a puddle of water from the blanching. I don't even know how they can call it coleslaw. All they did was use a cheat, mayo and cabbage that is not coleslaw. Their homemade baked beans were watery and had an odd flavor to them. The service was great, but the food was a bit disappointing. We were a group of 9 and the waitress did great with our large group. My husband and I ordered their happy hour wing special, we got the teriyaki, and while the flavor was good, they were missing the wow factor, would probably not get those particular wings again. We definitely would not get the gumbo again. Not real sure what happened there, but it was like a bowl of brown gravy with rice in it. There was some mystery meat in it (was supposed to be chicken and sausage), but I'm almost positive it was not sausage. Thankfully when I said something to our waitress she removed it from our bill. We also got their hot cheese and crab dip. My husband liked the dip, but I did not. I don't want to rule out never eating there in the future, but I would definitely not order those items again. We've been here many times and it's always good food. The atmosphere is comfortable and cool and everyone says the Mahi Mahi is always really good! I ordered Chicken Scampi w/ Angel Hair pasta. It's ok but had a strange taste that I wasn't a fan of. It was like a sour taste and not a yummy garlic butter taste. My food was just ok but hubby loved his. Hubby ordered Mahi Mahi w/ Garlic green beans and Rice. He also ordered clam chowder as an appetizer which was just ok. Went to Pinchers yesterday, service was excellent! My hubby ordered the corn chowder which I tasted and it was bland! I ordered the fried grouper and it had absolutely no taste whatsoever! They have a 2 for 1 drink special here which includes beer, margarita and sangria. Stick to beer if you do the special, margaritas and sangrias weren't great. For food, we got: Hot Crab and Cheese Dip, Crab Rangoon and 6 Stone Crab Claws. The Hot Crab and Cheese Dip was good while the cheese was hot, once the cheese cooled, it was hard to eat since the cheese hardened up. Crab Rangoon was good and crispy. The Stone Crab Claws can be bought separately or as a meals which comes with 2 sides. You can choose between Medium, Large or Jumbo sizes for the claws and whether they are served cold or hot. Was my first time there. We went for lunch on Sunday and surprised there weren't many people when we arrived. The place is big, so even tho there wasn't many people, service was slow. They have a fresh fish market, I wonder if that's what makes the price is pricey. I ordered blackened gulf grouper and key lime pie. The food was good but nothing special and pricey. I ordered them broiled and they were delivered in a dish drowning in butter. They were very small and were extremely tough. The service was fine and the atmosphere was fine but the fish was very disappointing. We ordered the gulf grouper, which is an expensive dish and it was not good! Completely without flavor, over cooked and actually hard to choke down. We ordered it broiled and I don't think they even seasoned it. We also got a bowl of the clam chowder. It was not great. Hardly any clams. Mostly potatoes. I would not order again. Also ordered the alaskan crab legs they were good, but nothing impressive just standard crab legs. And finally we got a piece of the key lime pie. It was also awful. Tasted more like a bad cheesecake with a slight key-lime flavor. I've eaten at pinchers a billion times. Consistently the food is the same. I'll be honest-- I've only ever ordered shrimp here. Boom boom, peel em and eat em both hot and cold, fried. And every time it's great. There was one time a shrimp looked undercooked or bad and they happily brought me a new one no fuss. I always get baked beans and fresh cut fries. Again every time-- it's good. I enjoy eating outside and the general atmosphere. Wait staff is kind of hit or miss. I've never had bad service, but it's not over the moon great either. Not impressed. Wife ordered snow crab and they were very thin and flexible. I ordered the Mahi sandwich and the fillet was small and dry. My coleslaw came in a pee cup "really". We've been going to pinchers for years. The food is reliable and consistent. It's not the fanciest seafood, but it's certainly our standard go to places typically for a weekend lunch we come from Maryland and are quite used to steam blue crabs. Well, they're not inexpensive and sometimes can be on the small side, this is one of the better place that we know of to get them.
