Came to this side of Florida because of a soccer tournament and of course I had to take advantage of local food before I headed back home. The shop is located in a shopping mall so there is plenty of parking. The shop is made for lunch. It is small and there is seating inside and out its not meant for a very large party. On a positive note, they have a multitude of seafood sandwiches and lunch options to enjoy a nice meal. I saw photos of lobster rolls on yelp, so I got the lobster roll. It was so good. Packed with lobster and the bread was delicious. My son and husband got the red snapper sandwich blackened with fries. We were also able to try their clam chowder (delicious) as well as their key lime pie (i am unsure if it's made there but it was very good). The cashier was sweet. The staff made sure that we were happy with the food and for a small cafe I can't ask for anything else. Lobster Pound is a unique little market and restaurant-there really aren't many places like it anymore. My boyfriend ordered the lobster roll, and it was amazing. We also tried the soups, including the New England clam chowder and lobster bisque, and both were excellent. Unfortunately, I ordered the ahi tuna sandwich and asked for it seared, but it was way overcooked. The tuna was cooked all the way through (brown throughout) and very dry. Next time I come back, I will not be getting the tuna, but definitely the lobster roll. I should of known better, based on the name of the restaurant, but I decided against my better judgement. read more

BEST BLACKENED GROUPER I'VE EVER HAD! My sister and I were en route back from the Lena Road Landfill and decided to stop for lunch. We googled and found the highly rated Lobster Pound. It's easy to find in Lakewood Ranch and there's ample parking provided. The Lobster Pound is a quaint place, with an extensive menu (see photo attached). We were welcomed warmly upon arrival and given time to peruse the vast menu. Ultimately we went with the blackened grouper sandwich and OH EM GEE am I glad. It took some time to come out but this speaks to them making things as they are ordered and it was 100% worth the wait. The fish was incredibly flavorful and juicy. So juicy and cooked perfectly! It didn't need any sauce or additional seasoning, it was outstanding on its own with tomato and lettuce on a bun. They also are sure to give you a large piece of grouper/nice serving size. This was hands down the best grouper sandwich I've experienced ever. Highly recommend stopping into the Lobster Pound and giving their offerings a try. Everything looked really good. read more

Went to the lobster pound over the weekend. I've been wanting to check this place out because my husband has lately been very obsessed with lobster rolls, they are his favorite food. So anytime we see a place that serves them we check it out. First I will say this was a great lunch spot. Second, the staff was all very nice and very attentive. Third, they sold a lot of fresh fish and I was pleasantly surprised that it did not smell the slightest bit of fishy inside. Now onto the roll, the lobster was so fresh, the portion sizes were great for the price, the sides were amazing. The only thing is that the lobster rolls, both the hot and the cold, lacked flavor. I was slightly disappointed because this place had everything going for it, but the rolls ended up being lackluster because they just didn't have any seasoning. The lobster was delicious and fresh but lemon and butter and mayo can only take it so far. It's possible we just got a bad batch but unfortunately I was not in love with this place. We were going to be in this area, so I found this place on Yelp. 3 of the 4 of us are from Massachusetts, so it was a no brainer. I don't eat seafood, but the tenderloin tips sandwich sounded ok. Well, the other 3 were thrilled with their seafood, but i think I got the best sandwich! That steak was so tender, flavorful... but the little cup of au jus was AMAZING. And every single thing was OUTSTANDING. The food alone was enough to warrant the 5 stars, but Tucker made me wish I could rate this place more than 5. The best whole belly clams! I don't care for their soups which are both and a bit sour. I like the fried whole belly clams more than the middle neck steamed clams. This establishment needs a thorough overhaul for cleanliness. It is quite dirty AND worst of all, there is NO restroom for customers, that means no place to wash our hands before eating and whatever else is necessary. But the big question is: what do the employees do for restroom facilities? And when I suggested that we needed to wash our hands before eating, the young man offered me a paper towel with soap on it to "clean up." That was scary. He also pulled out some hand sanitizer that was near the kitchen area but not in sight for clients. Had the order not already been placed, we would have scooted out of there quickly and probably should have since when I got home, I was quite ill and threw up. (Since my partner did not get sick, perhaps it was unrelated, nevertheless, it seemed to be a very quick stomach illness.) The hot soup was served in plastic cups with plastic spoons. I wasn't a fan of that practice since hot soup could easily melt the plastic. Yet because many restaurants do that, I guess I can't complain about it except since it was not take-out, a bowl would have felt safer than potentially melted plastic. (But that's a different issue in the US food safety world.) However, it is important to give credit for the one good thing: THE CLAM CHOWDER WAS VERY GOOD! read more
