    Grilled shrimp - 5 minutes!
    mark b.

The Shack is Back! When we stay on AMI, we always visit Captain Anthony's as fish simply does not get fresher than this. I was worried they might not be there after the hurricanes, but they are back. Yesterday, I got a pound of grouper, a pound of red snapper, and two pounds of large (huge) gulf shrimp. They gave me a great (simple!) recipe for cooking on the grill and everything came out delicious. My mother in law doesn't even eat shrimp and she loved it! Great fish, even better people!

We got a lb of grouper and Captain Anthony's Signature dip. Both were to die for and extremely fresh!!! Wish I had a picture of the dip but it was so good we ate it before I could get a picture. So fresh and very delicious. I got to order from captain anthony himself & had wonderful conversations with a local himself that was a true captain. 10/10 would recommend.

    Famously fresh seafood

We were down in Anna Maria Florida and had to get some fresh stone crab (love it) and located this tiny shack near the beach that sell amazingly fresh seafood. It's not much to look at just a tiny screen building with one employee inside. You don't even go in but instead interact through the screen. We picked up 4 lbs of crab claws (they recommended 1 lb per person-was a bit over but not much). We also got some of their house made mustard sauce as well as cocktail sauce. Additionally we got a tub of their fish dip which we enjoyed out on the water with friends in a boat with crackers (really good). That evening we feasted on succulent crab with some fresh French bread and a hearty salad. A meal fit for a king! Large claws were $30/lb so not a cheap dinner but such a nice way to finish a day in the sun. (By the way a nice French Chablis is an excellent pairing)

Stone Crab is in season at Captain Anthony's!

Luckily we found stone crab while at Anna Maria Island! What a great place for fresh stone crabs and seafood. They also offer fishing charters. We wanted stone crab on our last night and Captain Anthony's was closed and they opened up for us on a Monday when they are normally closed. We were so appreciative of their hospitality! The fresh stone crabs were amazing. It is a must try if you are on Anna Maria Island

What a wonderful hidden gem! If you're in the area vacationing and have a rental to cook up some amazing seafood...this is where you should go! Stone crabs (when in season), shrimp, and seafood galore! Family run business...Anthony and his sons are so helpful. They even provide seasoning and give you cooking tips.

So glad I stopped by this hidden gem before heading back to the city. I will be back for crab season and I can't wait. Captain Anthony is a man of the sea and will tell you how to cook your fresh seafood selection. All the guys were friendly and shared any information about different catches. If you blink you may miss it which makes it the best & freshest seafood like all good hidden gems in Anna Maria/Holmes Beach/Bradenton Beach area. Keep in mind you are buying the best of the freshest. If you can pay for less fresh seafood at Whole Foods or any of those fancy places then do not blink to pay for these fresh catches! I'm from a family of trollers and fisherman. Fuel, upkeep, equipment isn't cheap so support local and get fresher, better quality than what you pay for at the grocery stores which may have sat on a boat for 2 weeks, then frozen so it can be shipped which can equate to seafood that is 2-4 weeks preserved...hopefully. I'm just saying, "you get what you pay for"!

First stop every year once we make it to the island. Smoked Fish Dip and Ceviche are top recommendations!
