    Grouper on the grill.

Found this place near the north end of AMI when looking for some fresh seafood on a Sunday to cook at our rental. Just an old style little screened in porch. The couple running the place were a Hoot while taking our order and explaining what they had to offer and how to prepare it. We purchased smoked fish dip, ceviche, some shrimp and a beautiful Grouper filet. We prepared the fish in a foil pan on the grill per her instructions and it was outstanding!

We got a lb of grouper and Captain Anthony's Signature dip. Both were to die for and extremely fresh!!! Wish I had a picture of the dip but it was so good we ate it before I could get a picture. So fresh and very delicious. I got to order from captain anthony himself & had wonderful conversations with a local himself that was a true captain. 10/10 would recommend.

    Famously fresh seafood

We were down in Anna Maria Florida and had to get some fresh stone crab (love it) and located this tiny shack near the beach that sell amazingly fresh seafood. It's not much to look at just a tiny screen building with one employee inside. You don't even go in but instead interact through the screen. We picked up 4 lbs of crab claws (they recommended 1 lb per person-was a bit over but not much). We also got some of their house made mustard sauce as well as cocktail sauce. Additionally we got a tub of their fish dip which we enjoyed out on the water with friends in a boat with crackers (really good). That evening we feasted on succulent crab with some fresh French bread and a hearty salad. A meal fit for a king! Large claws were $30/lb so not a cheap dinner but such a nice way to finish a day in the sun. (By the way a nice French Chablis is an excellent pairing)

Stone Crab is in season at Captain Anthony's!

Luckily we found stone crab while at Anna Maria Island! What a great place for fresh stone crabs and seafood. They also offer fishing charters. We wanted stone crab on our last night and Captain Anthony's was closed and they opened up for us on a Monday when they are normally closed. We were so appreciative of their hospitality! The fresh stone crabs were amazing. It is a must try if you are on Anna Maria Island

What a wonderful hidden gem! If you're in the area vacationing and have a rental to cook up some amazing seafood...this is where you should go! Stone crabs (when in season), shrimp, and seafood galore! Family run business...Anthony and his sons are so helpful. They even provide seasoning and give you cooking tips.

So glad I stopped by this hidden gem before heading back to the city. I will be back for crab season and I can't wait. Captain Anthony is a man of the sea and will tell you how to cook your fresh seafood selection. All the guys were friendly and shared any information about different catches. If you blink you may miss it which makes it the best & freshest seafood like all good hidden gems in Anna Maria/Holmes Beach/Bradenton Beach area. Keep in mind you are buying the best of the freshest. If you can pay for less fresh seafood at Whole Foods or any of those fancy places then do not blink to pay for these fresh catches! I'm from a family of trollers and fisherman. Fuel, upkeep, equipment isn't cheap so support local and get fresher, better quality than what you pay for at the grocery stores which may have sat on a boat for 2 weeks, then frozen so it can be shipped which can equate to seafood that is 2-4 weeks preserved...hopefully. I'm just saying, "you get what you pay for"!

First stop every year once we make it to the island. Smoked Fish Dip and Ceviche are top recommendations!

She came back out and asked us if we had plans to eat for after the engagement and we told her we did not. The owner had offered to accommodate our party if we wanted to come back for dinner and gave us free Shirley Temples for a toast since everyone was non alcoholic. We had a party of 11 for the engagement dinner and Karen took care of us again. The whole experience could not have been any better. Karen is incredible and everyone went out of their way to make it a very memorable experience. They even brought the engaged couple complementary key lime pie with "She said yes" on the dessert. The food, service and location and ambiance are exceptional and we will definitely eat there again when we are visiting the area.

With such a large group, we were worried we wouldn't be able to find a place that could accommodate everyone. Fortunately, his parents had lunch here earlier that day and spoke with Karen about our situation. She was incredibly kind and worked everything out for us. We ended up having a wonderful dinner surrounded by the people we love most. At the end of the meal, they brought out a complimentary key lime pie that said, "She said yes!" It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture that made an already perfect evening even more special. We will never forget their kindness and hospitality and are so grateful they were part of such an important memory for our family.

The cowboy shrimp is a MUST ORDER!!! Delicious and the sauce paired with the focaccia is end game. I got the grouper tacos - perfectly blackened and a kick of flavor! The rice and beans was also good. Others at my table got the shrimp tacos and and coconut shrimp that were said to be good as well. Service was phenomenal, quick and overall a great vibe! Plus it's a perk to be able to run onto the beach for a quick sunset pic while waiting for our food. :)

We started with the coconut shrimp. It was good. I got the hogfish with polenta. The polenta was excellent. For me the hogfish was just okay. It was very thin and the fry didn't have much flavor. We also had the shrimp and grits which was fantastic! It was super rich I am glad that we split everything. It was so interesting to have one dish that lacked flavor and the other to be bursting with so much flavor. Overall, the experience was good a little pricey but that is to be expected on the beach. I would come back and try some different options.
