Whenever I am in the area, I always stop at fresh market. Their salads, seafood and bakery goods are always fresh and delicious. My only complaint is that there is not one closer to us on Longboat Key. Staff is always willing to help and plenty of parking. read more

We were vacationing with family over the holidays and we wanted an easy but great meal for New Years Eve. We decided to roast a beef tenderloin for our group of 11. Went to Fresh Market yesterday and a wonderful, white-haired gentleman behind the meat counter recommended the Argentinian tenderloin. My kids are foodies and everyone agreed it was the best tenderloin they had ever had! Many, many thanks for the great customer service that steered me right! Love everything about Fresh Market! I have visited The Fresh Markets all over the state of Florida and they all have the same issues. For all they offer, some of which are fine products, their baked goods are sub-par and overpriced. They always have been dry and bland, and I wish someone would take notice and bring a higher standard to their bakery. Yesterday, I purchased the "Baked in House" blueberry scones. Had them for breakfast this morning and almost choked because they were so dry and bland. The cookies are also blah. I have experienced this at all the market locations and will no longer buy their baked goods. This is such a beautiful market with good intentions - management needs to step up and bring in proven recipes for the high-priced baked goods. I am a baker and know these can be improved upon with little effort. I keep hoping they will take notice...... but they haven't yet!!! read more

After parking between the Audis and Teslas, I enter the Market greeted by an attractive decor. However, there is nothing in this over-priced grocery that I can't get an equivalent of at Winn-Dixie or Publix. The last straw was the Thursday special on roasted whole chickens; the birds are ALWAYS over cooked to an internal temperature of 180 degrees F [exceeding USDA-FSIS guidelines by 15 degrees]. Best market in the area. Quality of meats and fish surpass Whole Foods and Publix--my husband is an expert. (I'm very disappointed in WF on University Pkwy. That WF is a big fast food place.) The produce people at Fresh Market do a very nice job of keeping fruits and vegetables looking good. Really appreciate the attention employees give to the products sold. I have been going to Fresh market in Bradenton Florida on manatee Avenue by fountain Court. So I sent my husband and my brother-in-law there for lunch since they were working over there and they have a great selection hot food, cold food, quick and easy. They said they have the worst experience ever!! that the manager came up and asked if they could be helped n that the people behind the counter didn't want to help them.. when they had a question they were ignored. That is not good customer service, especially at the prices that you guys charged. when they could've just went to Publix and gave Publix their business instead. How rude can you get to customers like that, who are in your store to buy food. They said that they were followed around the whole store for the 10 minutes they were in your store, trying to buy lunch and all your employees were very rude. I was very surprised that management followed them around like they were going to steal from you. You need to learn some customer service. We will never come back to fresh market ever again you have a loss our whole family's business. Sad thing is, we are big on European food and you guys have the best selection of everything and our family is 30+ people and we would always order a lot of food!! now you have lost our business and Publix will get our business now. We got the $5 "Bistro meals" that was advertised on sale. I got the teriyaki chicken and my wife wanted the meatball dinner but settled for the meatloaf when we were told they were out of meatballs. We both had Mac and cheese and a side of super salad. My teriyaki chicken was very dry, barely edible. The mac and cheese was far worse, there were several bites I had to spit out because it was so dry it was rock hard. My wife's meatloaf was good. We traded bites and she agreed on the dryness of the chicken. Her Mac and cheese was also dry and hard from sitting in a warming tray far too long. The salads were small portions but ok. There's no way I could recommend this. Fresh Market needs to step up their game and not serve food that has dried out from sitting too long. This was my first time at Fresh Market, I don't think I'll be back any time soon. read more

I went to FM specifically for a "Supreme" pizza, and there were none available, and evidently no more being made. I was so disappointed, and mentioned it to my cashier, who called the manager, Pho. He told me to sit on a convenient bench while he got me a "supreme". It wasn't too long before he handed a very special pizza to me, and I was so glad, as my son just loves this particular kind, and on Thursdays they only cost $6.00. In the age of healthy supermarkets The Fresh Market stands out. I remember vividly saying to my wife "uh oh, WholeFoods is opening near our Fresh Market!" Not to worry though. The Fresh Market carves it's own piece of the shopper's pie, with unique atmosphere, wonderful prepared foods section, excellent management and an incredibly good bakery. You can also find gems like the FLYING MEATBALLS, tomato or olive focaccia bread and excellent prepared ribs. Love the products . Customer in several depts. : deli and bakery especially needs coaching on customer service. Condescending attitudes. Produce dept great! 3rd time in store and always the same attitudes, too bad. Take a lesson from Trader Joe's Today, I mentioned to Vanessa the cashier that I wanted to use debit card to get cash back. She didn't mention that it was new system that had glitches. So I inserted the card put in password . No screen for cash. She unprofessionally said it's too late. I asked if they could redo the few items and let me use s credit card. A person named Crystal rudely interrupted and asked for three next customer. A manager actually said he had the same problem I had. I love the food quality and the deli and meat and fish employees but the cashiers are abrupt, rude and unprofessional. Deteilers and Trader Joes are further away but a pleasure to shop at. Ok and Vanessa put the eggs Ina babe with soft items and the dozen broke all over my driveway. Very disappointed.. read more

I sometimes use the motorized car after doing training when my muscles are fatigued, but the market doesn't really accommodate the space of a motorized basket cart and you bump into things and if you go over by the flowers you get stuck in there and you can't get out and then an employee has to come over and start moving things so you can get out. But their cards are really fast almost too fast and a lot of fun. There butcher area has some very nice cuts of meat. They do specialize in having choice and Prime grade Beef, which is a cut above say Publix or other stores. And if you can get something on sale, then you can get a very nice cut of meat for a decent price which I really appreciate. The roses that I got from them did cost me a little bit more than say Trader Joe's, and is on par with Publix may be a little more, but they did open properly and they are lasting longer. Some items are kind of upper class and kind of pricey, like English style Crème fraîche. Their pasture raised organic eggs are about two dollars more than Trader Joe's. But their beef is a higher rating of Beef and worth it, as I don't really like Joe's steaks. read more

I'm just not a huge fan of the Whole Foods movement. I believe that it is a gimmick and a way to charge a lot of money for simple things. This line of grocery stores are no exception. While they do have a large selection of sundries, everything is much more expensive the traditional supermarkets. I'll take my chances with the greenwise product from Publix if I'm feeling super healthy but I have yet to buy anything from one of these grocery stores that I feel is superior to anywhere else. I just can't justify spending the money. read more

There was no frozen fish. - Selection in general was limited, don't come here if you are looking for common grocery store name brands because you likely won't find them - The broccoli had a lot of brown, and was 60% stalk, which was heavy. I don't like paying $2.99 per pound for something that I'm going to throw over half of away!!! Would I go back? Yes. Great customer service and an island for people looking for quality. ..and organic.... It was easy to get around in the store. ... A the produce person was helpful and attentive, great looking well organized fruit and vegetable area.... The deli staff were very helpful answered many questions and offered samples to anything I was interested in... They had some of the best quality maple smoked bacon... so lean and so good....it might be the best that I have ever purchased.... Wonderful fresh flowers is well and a decent wine collection.... I stopped by Fresh Market today to get the wife some chocolate covered walnuts, I got some raisins and banana chips. The bill came to over thirty three dollars. I question the girl why so much and she said the walnuts were 2.30lb @ 9.99 a lb. When I got home I weighed them at 6.4 oz. Drive back to the store and find the manager chatting with someone, I asked could he weight them and he said go back to the register again. Thanks for no help, I enjoy making a trip back to your store. The same girl seamed put out when I asked her to recheck the weight. Another manager had to come for a refund of $18.98 as the bill was only $4.00. She said sorry, the girl must have leaned on the scale. With this attitude I don't recommend anything from Fresh Market that needs to be weighed. read more

Just got home with the ingredients to make Avgolemono (Greek chicken) soup for my sick husband. Celery- rotten. Onion- half rotten. Eggs- expire today. I wanted to buy salad dressing and couldn't because, you guessed it, it expires in three days. Tiny individual pudding I bought for like $3.50? Expired yesterday. The last time I was in there I tried to buy a chuck roast from the butcher at 7:50 PM. This store closes at 9 PM. He told me that he had already cleaned his area and he couldn't dirty it up for "just" me. I literally took all the other ingredients for the roast out of my cart and left them with him and he just shrugged. The girl at the checkout asked if I "found everything OK," and when I explained to her why I didn't, she just said "Oh, sorry." Which I'm guessing is going to be managements response to this review as well after seeing at how they addressed other peoples complaints. I love Fresh Market. I miss the one in my hometown because it wasn't run this way. And I will probably continue to go to this one because they carry items that are hard to find. However, the second Publix starts carrying more brands that I like I will never spend another dime here. read more

3 nights I walked in at around 8 and asked for the half chicken dinner special. 3 nights I was told that they had already begun breaking down the hot table and stripping the chicken for chicken salad prep. I looked behind the counter and saw several whole chickens, all they had to do was grab one and cut it in half. I got the whole "yeah sorry" look from the girl working the counter - same gal each time. The third time this happened I told her I thought you close at 9, thinking they should probably wait until then or close to then to remove their specials. As you may guess, she had no helpful reply. Drove down the street to Publix and was taken care of the right way. Publix, I'm sorry I cheated on you but I'm done with FM for good. I'm hearing more and more bad reviews about FM, the grocery environment is only getting more competitive - you'd think they'd get their s**t together. read more

Fresh Market seems like a good store but the one in Bradenton is bad. It must be the off season. Tough enough prices are higher now but I have to bring things back because they are off. Some bad smelly cod from the seafood counter, bad whole chicken from the meat counter. They would say return them but it's a pain when you pull it out to make dinner. One day I returned very hard garlic toast crisps as you would break your teeth. I said to the woman at the checkout that we like those things and it is the second time I had to bring back. I don't have this problem with the FM near the mall. She said why dont you just not buy them. Wow! No feedback allowed. This store in Bradenton is overrated. Ugh read more

3 weeks ago I ordered whipped sweet potatoes, salad, & cranberry relish for Easter with pick up Sat b4. A week b4 I called 2confirm my order bec they LOST my Thanksgiving order. Everything was on order! Sat morning b4 Easter Sun they called & did not have my whipped potatoes. This was awfully late notice!!! Ok, I asked where I go 2pick up my order....to back of store at a table...AT THAT time they will assemble my order!!! So had 2wait in line then had 2wait again while they ran around store assembling my order. This was NO SAVINGS 2me!!! Gave them 2chances & they missed both times! That's it. read more

The Fresh Market is generally terrible. The ready made food is overpriced and completely unoriginal. The produce is also overpriced, and for the most part it's not even local or organic. Literally everything you can get ready made at The Fresh Market would be cheaper and better somewhere else. I saw a small container of soup for $7.. the ingredients were comparable to a can of Campbells. I bought a rotisserie chicken here for $10, of course it was dry and under seasoned. The one cool thing is that you could definitely find some unique specialty items here in the packaged foods. I saw some brands which I've never seen anywhere else. You could also probably find good wine but I didn't look. Unless you need some specialty food item which is only available there, just skip it. My overall assessment of this store is that it is a trap to sell overpriced, healthy-LOOKING, trendy food to the upper middle class who it caters to. read more

It's tempting to go 1 star here, but I see promise and I don't want to condemn this business. I really enjoy the Fresh Market chain and I prefer them to Whole Foods. This particular location has friendly and helpful staff. However, the Deli is disappointing and they tend to sell stale products. Last week, I paid $11 for a pound of roast beef, and it was so stale it was gray and even had an odor to it. Not grayish, gray. Astonishing in a bad way. While the other meats I've bought from them have generally been solid, the pre-made sandwiches are hit-or-miss. That's unacceptable when you're paying $7 for a turkey sandwich (if the price doesn't sound high, remember this is semi-rural Florida). One sandwich will be solid, another will be all lettuce, and lazily constructed. They also tend to fall behind on re-stocking. Each time I've been in there, I've seen dairy products that were past, at or within a few days of their expiration date. I nearly purchased one of the premium Tradespoint Creamery cottage cheeses when it was already past its expiration date. Again, this is unacceptable under normal circumstances but when you're paying $10.00 for 16oz of cottage cheese, it's really frustrating. I haven't given up on this location yet, but they really need to sell fresh food before it's strike three. read more

This was my first time at this location and I was so impressed! It was much larger and cleaner than the University location. Everything was beautifully laid out and very pleasant to shop at. The staff was all helpful especially the Assistant Meat manager who was more than accommodating to help me, and went above and beyond! I will be back! read more

I'm very disappointed with changes and will be much less likely to shop here n the future. Since this store opened, I've gone in every week or two to pick up a slice of plain cheesecake and a slice of carrot cake for my husband. He's disabled and these treats have been a high point in his life. I usually end up stocking up on other things we need while I'm there. I'm grateful for the many good treats, but the past three visits individual slices have not been available. Today I asked and was told they now only sell whole cakes. My husband can't eat a whole cake without half of it spoiling, so that's not an option. That really cuts down on my motivation to shop at this Fresh Market. I will check other Fresh Markets and hope they still carry individual slices. read more

I used to love going to Fresh market but it's just gotten awful. I've purchased rancid meat from the meat counter for the last time yesterday. It's the 3rd time this year. Somehow the butcher was clueless of it when he packaged it for me. Got it home and the back side of the chicken was gray! Smelled god awful. Just unbelievable. Horrible customer service. My husband likes to go there but not me, We went there to get some beef (I am veggie person) but my dog has cancer so she needs to eat whatever she will eat. Had to wait about 5 minutes which is not acceptable. Went to cashier and no store manager, Left went to Publix and spent over $200 on meat that my dog will eat. The Fresh Market has to be the greatest high end supermarket in Pinellas County. This place rocks. The seafood the deli the meats desserts it's all good. I love Fresh Market. The store itself is very pretty. It is very organized. The produce department made me want to buy everything. You can tell they take pride in their appearance. They have a little bit of everything. The sushi is delicious. Very fresh. And it is even cheaper than sushi at Publix. The bakery was amazing. I just wish we had a Fresh Market closer to us. Just about everything here makes me happy. All of the artfully displayed produce - I feel healthier just walking around in that area - is also available by the piece...so you can buy one apple and one pear if you feel like it and not have a whole intimidating bag of them rotting in the fridge. I love that there are so many unique offerings. I discover some new yummy treasure every time I go. We here in northwestern Manatee County have been deprived for a long time of what I know the rest of the world has been taking for granted, so forgive me if I'm overly enthusiastic about a grocery store! But I do really like the vast choices of so many tasty culinary finds, and I appreciate the care that has been taken with the whole feel of the place. It's like a small vacation every time I go. The people are friendly, super helpful, and quick to get you on your way. The missing star is for the prices--I know, I know--everything I just described costs more to provide...but in a perfect world, my money would go further here. Otherwise, it's excellent.
