Another great dinner at Trattoria da mino. This time we brought our family to have dinner with us after visiting the beach. Of course we got our all time favorite pizza. The kids got their pasta Alfredo, like usual and we did try their soup which was simple but good. My sister got the tortellini pasta. The food was delicious like always. The tortellini was a hit for my sister she loved it so next time I'll definitely try it. I will say we had eight in our party plus a baby and it was a little tricky to fit us all, but we ended up sitting outside and made it work. Always a pleasure visiting. read more

We just had lunch there and it's was disappointing. My son ordered two slices of supreme pizza. They literally put raw onion, raw green peppers and raw mushrooms on top of the pizza. While I'm a sucker for any al fresco meal -- I enjoy eating outside! -- I won't return to Trattoria Da Mino. I'll add that the pizza we ordered was all right .... but the price inflated! We treated a friend to a birthday lunch and ordered a large pizza, a Caesar salad and a bottle of Montepulciano. As B is vegetarian and we are not, we chose a half & half pie. Our half was what's called "Capricciosa" - mozerella, tomato sauce, ham, mushrooms, artichokes and capers. My friend asked for plain cheese with green peppers and onions. Our server entered hers as margherita. We were charged $5.20 extra for a smattering of bell peppers and ANOTHER $5.20 for some onions! That's for HALF a pie in addition to the $31.20 charged for the pizza! No way worth it. The wine, listed at $32, was delicious. (I think this is my new favorite red.) But it was entered at $33.28. Perhaps tax was included .... but then, sales tax was added at the bottom of our tab. C'mon! The restaurant is popular, our server was efficient. When he heard it was my friend's birthday he offered tiramisu on the house, which she turned down. Not wanting to put a damper on my friend's luncheon my husband regrettably didn't question the bill. Being ripped off leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So long, Trattoria Da Mino. We won't be back. read more

We were spending a few days in Osprey-Venice area -we had done a few local seafood places , which were ok- including the famous Sharkeys on the pier in Venice. Food was good, but SO BUSY AND SO LOUD! Second night- looking for non seafood (we live in Clearwater and have great seafood available.) We decided on Trattoria Da Mino and looked at reviews for their great pizza. Well we really loved their pizza. Got the Supreme which had yummy sauce, nice and stringy mozzarella, peppers, onions, mushrooms, pepperoni and sausage on a crispy thin crust . A 12" 6 piece pie more than filled us up. Very small restaurant, but a few outdoor tables too. Great, efficient staff. While we did not try their other offerings, their pastas looked great! Don't pass up this restaurant in historic downtown Venice. It's at the end of the strip so you gotta keep walking past all the other really good Italian restaurants. Keep walking, it's worth it! I had the Quattro Formaggi pizza. The pizza crust was perfect-just the right thickness and crispy. Our waiter said the pizza is outstanding because they use water that has been filtered multiple times. (I also appreciated that the drinking water is filtered also). I added the fresh tomatoes that are brought to the table with fresh bread. I also liked the oregano and basil shakers at that table. Good service, sat outside on another gorgeous day in Florida. Was invited to speak at the liter hotties book club. The service was great and the staff never missed a step in serving us. The lunch special was $20 for salad, soup and half a lasagna. There was enough food to satisfy and the food was fine. Nothing over the top. They do serve beer and wine and there was plenty of seating available although we did make reservations just to be safe since we were a group of six. Rumor has it they are known for their pizza which I never got to try. So that will mean another trip. It's definitely worth a second visit. read more

It's not fancy, but it was very inviting everyone from the host to the waiter to the very nice lady busing the table was extremely accommodating and kind. It's owned by a guy who has restaurants all over the country and also in Italy, but this is definitely an Americanized version of Italian food. That said, it was great - every person enjoyed their meal. Gluten-free penne pasta with tomato sauce and pinenuts : the gluten-free pasta is very good, as was the sauce, but it was decidedly lacking in pinenuts 4/5 lobster ravioli: this comes with either soup or salad, I got the salad which was quite good, but came without dressing? Not sure if that was a mistake, but I did just use the oil and vinegar that was on the table and a bit of salt and pepper, and it was really fresh. The lobster ravioli is absolutely decadent, the ravioli are absolutely stuffed with big pieces of lobster, the vodka sauce is so rich and creamy. I couldn't ask for more with this dish it was truly exceptional. However, if you get a stomachache from rich food, you might want to split this one. 5/5 5/5 read more

We spent the day at Venice Beach yesterday and wanted something to eat before we drove home. The location of this place is fantastic. It is just a hop, skip, and jump from the beach with plenty of parking around the general vicinity. It's a quaint little place that offers both indoor and outdoor dining. We were immediately greeted when we walked in. Not just by the host but by every single staff member that saw us. The servers were quick and attentive which meant we waited for nothing. We kept it simple. We ordered a supreme pizza and split it. I can't speak for pastas, soups, salads, or desserts, but the pizza was fantastic. It came out piping hot. The crust was amazing; thin, crispy, and flavorful. This pizza really rounded off a great day at the beach. I'd love to say that next time we are in Venice, we are going to stop by and try some of their other menu items, but we won't because we will be coming back for this pizza! read more

What a little gem and ashamed to say it took 3 years of living in Venice to even take notice of this place! But that speaks to the fact that it's pretty nondescript...I've walked by it countless times. It wasn't until I was browsing downtown Venice restaurants that I realized this was a place I needed to try. Loved that they are open on Sundays. We went for dinner and my husband said the inside was quite packed. We sat outside (thank goodness for umbrellas for shade) and witnessed take out pizzas were headed out the door every few minutes. Again, how had we not heard of or tried this place for so long?! My son loved his giant kids pizza and my husband liked his meaty calzone. It had a nice kick to it and was enough for two meals at a decent price too. I adored the fact they have gluten free pizza AND gluten free pasta. My possibilities were endless on what I could order. I went with a shrimp and pasta dish (forget what it was called). The 6 shrimp were cooked perfectly and were decent sized and the light wine sauce was super flavorful. I loved it with a glass of Chardonnay. I did think it was slightly overpriced though at $26 I think. Next time we're trying the pizzas! I can't wait. read more

Had to sit outside since we did not have a reservation. That was ok. Salad greens were not very good, brown and bitter. Entrees were good as always (we are locals). However, when bill came I did not know they now add the tip, but the bill also lists suggestions on the amount to tip. I did not hear the server tell me that they are now adding the tip and if my daughter had not stopped me, I would have also tipped her in cash totaling a tip of $48.00. They also charge if you use a credit card even if it is a debit. I normally tip in cash and was not happy about having it added to my debit card. I do not plan to return again any time soon. The tip should be at the customer's discretion, not the restaurant. read more

Service was good, the only issue was the waiter didn't offer any dressing for the salads so we use the oil and vinegar on table. it was after when. we heard another customer ask for ranch, did we know they had dressings to choose. we took Cannoli home with an order of meatballs for tomorrow. ambience seems more of a pizza joint inside and out. not a place to go if you are looking for a more high end appeal. The best bread and pizza dough I have ever had in a restaurant. It reminded me of my mother's Jewish egg bread. I am assuming it had olive oil in it. The sauce was delicate and not heavy or too spicy or salty. Great too if you have high blood pressure or are elderly. The minestrone soup tasted home made with lots of celery and vegetables.
