Family from cold NJ visiting for Valentine's Day. We were able to make a reservation here for five, and since our men were still golfing, this was Galentine's for us! Two women and three girls! Venice Avenue was crowded on this gorgeous early evening. I had chosen this restaurant due to its great Gluten-free options and kids' menu. Wow--did it deliver on those with a most attentive server. This is classic Italian comfort food--and the GF versions were excellent. Especially the GF pizza and focaccia. I had the regular Lasagna with Bolognese and it was yummy! Yes, there may be a more "gourmet" fine dining Italian place down the street, but Made in Italy did a great Valentine's feast for us. The entire restaurant was packed and the vibes of love were everywhere! And the server was so sweet to our 6 year old twins and 4 year old sister! I really can't comment on the ambiance because we had a take-out order, but at 5 pm on a Friday, the bar was full! We had the the rive balls, Caprese salad and the Supremo pizza. We were pleasantly surprised to find 2 HUGE rice balls and they were delightful! The sausage and cheese were a perfect combination. The Caprese salad was very good. As for the pizza. I wish we'd eaten there because by the time we got home, it wasn't crispy anymore; but the combination of flavors, including the crust, was excellent. They even included sliced bread with oil & vinegar for dipping. We will definitely return on our next trip to Venice! Delizioso! read more

I recently visited this restaurant again. It wasn't crowded and I had to ask twice for bread. The bread is like rubber not even warm no butter? I had a chicken parm with pasta. First of all I'm from Italy my entire family cooks. I actually worked in a kitchen, not to be mean but how is ORANGE SAUCE MARINARA! Marinara is red? Hello? The calamari comes with this anywhere else it's red? Not happy. My pasta had this orange garbage on it I wouldn't eat it. The chicken was fine. Next I ordered the chocolate flourless cake. Omg gross. It was thick filled with too many nuts and chocolate sauce I wanted a torte lite cake like the waiter described it. He knew nothing. Your menu leaves little to be desired I will never go back Asaros in Nokomis blows you away. Sorry but you need to fix this and the prices are crazy. read more

Bookmarked as a "must come back to" when we are back in Venice. Their bruschetta with prosciutto and mozzarella is a must-have for us. We've been here everytime we visit Venice and we always get this and their calamari. Their bruschetta reminds is like the fancy version of the bruschetta I love back from my hometown in Wexford, PA called Tomato Pie Cafe - which has a garden of tomatoes, basil, etc that they directly use. This is what their bruschetta taste like plus the mozzarella and prosciutto. Sometimes prosciutto can taste porky or meaty to me, but not heeeeere! Calamari - perfectly breaded. I think I tasted some banana peppers (maybe?) in there which is amazing! I only wish they would add some capers too. We got take out this time and I bought a small jar of capers to add. Homemade papardelle with bolognese is always a solid go-to we get as a side to share. Can't wait to come back! read more

Sat at the bar, the bar was nice. Ordered a plum martini and an espresso martini and a skinny margarita. The skinny margaritas were close to $23 each. Kind of pricey. Drinks were a 10/10 though, the plum 1 was fantastic! Ordered calamari, it was really good and it had fried pepperchinis mixed in. Got the basil gnocchi and the chick parm. Both were decent. 5/10 on the food. Sauce was not as good as it could have been. I've had better homemade pasta. Honestly if go again for drinks prob not for food though. Service was good. No issues there, fast polite and knowledgeable. The bar is lit from underneath and I wasn't really a fan of that because I have really sensitive eyes and it hurt my eyes . read more

The good: This is an Italian restaurant with a very classic menu. I tried the risotto special of their daily specials menu and some of the asparagus salmon as well as a wood fired pizza (genovese). I liked that they had outdoor seating options with fans. The ice water was extra icy and cold. It was super refreshing. The server was friendly and attentive to the kids. The ambience was slightly more upscale so it's a nice place for a special occasion or date. The asparagus was cooked nicely and my toddler enjoyed it. My father-in-law enjoyed his chicken parmesan. The bad: The risotto was good but very one note and a bit too rich. It would have been nice for it to be paired with a side of vegetables or for it to have some other flavor and texture element). My mother wanted to see a movie that was only showing in this area, so we drove an hour to come out here. While we were in this area, my mom absolutely wanted to go to Made in Italy afterwards for a late lunch. She loves the place and it's only the long drive that dissuades her from going more often. The staff seated us promptly and came right over with the bread and oil. Our main dishes were delivered soon after that. She had the pizza - which she loves - and I had the salmon. Both were very tasty with plenty for leftovers. Service was efficient and friendly. The place was lovely. Well recommended! read more

WOW! Never ever have I had a gluten free pizza crust so incredibly crusty and crunchy! I opted for the Quattro Formaggi! I tried the Regina Margarita (pictured) and that was fabulous! December 24, 2024, Christmas Eve @ 7 pm : Three (3) for dinner after candlelight Christmas service at Bay Point Church, Nokomis. This is an update as the last visit I had no pictures. Parking was available as the city was somewhat empty. Appeared to be just diners going to the few restaurants serving on Christmas Eve. SCORE! We had a reservation, and without exhaustive detail, I get it and have been at a few restaurants in my years, the front desk and reservations here are like an appointment at the doctors office or ER at SMH. Its NOT about you the patron. Not really honored if you are on time or not but just a lottery ticket to them allowing you to be able to dine there? We have had some seating challenges in the past as well and I have other stories from a few Venice friends who have x'd Made In Italy over this 'treatment' and will not return. However........ ****** Thank you to Made In Italy, staff and even all the other restaurants for allowing us home cooks, home dishwashers, and food shoppers and preparers to enjoy the day and celebrate the time off spiritually, mentally, and physically!! ******* We are seated in the back "Italy" room as I was informed, which is sort of a street cafe motif. Visually enjoyable. Fairly packed and almost family style close seating..... but it works. Service: The staff and especially the wait staff seemed to be in high spirits and our server ---------- Matt was almost like one of Santa's Elves. -------- A fantastic experience and he was helpful and suggestive (there were some menu item and kitchen availability mishaps that we worked around) but our dining experience was joyful, entertaining, and filled with laughing and cheer!!! GREAT GREAT JOB, MATT!!! My daughter got the Chicken Marsala w/ sauté spinach and roasted potatoes. The chicken was a good product and not dry or chewy!! The mushroom accompaniment was tasty but mushrooms over stewed/cooked and oily/wet. The roasted potatoes tender but nicely roasted and seasoned. The spinach however was tragically overcooked and soggy stewed and even tore apart when forked off the plate, mainly due to the MASSIVE almost heart stopping amount of liquid fat/oil that had many tablespoons leaking about the plate. This was egregious and my daughter left almost all of it. I tried a bite and it was simply sad. 5/10 My wife order a glass of house or no name wine that was $15 / glass . For her app she ordered the soup of the day "zuppa del giorno" a lobster bisque. She said it was pretty good while the soup was a little 'thin' and not hugely flavorful croutons just okay and a little soggy. 6/10 For her entree she went with the "Chef/Special" - Shrimp risotto in limoncello (fettuccine cheesy) w/spinach. This she said (and I agree) was VERY good and the risotto nicely cooked and not the typical over starchy wad of overcooked rice paste, cooked perfectly!!! The shrimp were a well seasoned and decent product, cooked perfectly. The chopped spinach also was tasty and a good ingredient. 9/10 I ordered the Minestrone soup to start. This was a bit awash with surface oil floating on top (see picture) but the vegetables were NOT overcooked and soggy and the stock were tasty and served hot. It was good. 7/10 For my main after my previous visit being NOT too happy with the Beyond Meat substitute in the VEGAN PENNE TARTUFATE....... I decide to switch to the the ZOODLES ALLA VEGAN BOLOGNESE with Zucchini ribbons with carrots, onions, peppers, & eggplant in a vegan Bolognese sauce. HUGELY better!!!! The zucchini ribbons were expertly crafted/spun and I suspect/pictured somebody in the kitchen joyfully spinning a long string of zucchini into these long strings/fettucine strips.... I know I do at home!! The were expertly NOT over cooked and perfect.....can I say el dente?? Well I just did! Prima pastina and firm to the tooth. The carrots, onions and peppers very minimally assaulted with heat and so perfect!!!! The real success was the "meat" which was the eggplant chunks with a great texture, seasoning, and also perfectly cooked and the sauce just tied it all together with a flavorful bow!!!!! BRAVO this was really a great entre for me! 10/10 (man I have not given one of them out in a long time it seems) Hats off to Made In Italy for a festive and enjoyable Christmas Eve dining experience and great food gift of convenience and tasting pleasure! My wife and multi friends are back in January for a birthday gig (including the Venice naysayer) so we will see how that goes.......but from a dining perspective I know I will be back and maybe we will see what beats my 10/10 entree from this visit????? Stopped in for dinner - our second time here. Caprese was amazing with just the right amount of balsamic glaze. Fiocchi di Pera was amazing - we'd come back just for this. The sausage with pasta and truffle-based sauce was also great. The lasagna was good, but the presence of carrots (sort of Al dente) were kind of a turn-off. The service was a bit inconsistent for not being very busy, but we were taken care of. Overall, we liked the experience, and will return! read more

The food brings me back to my mom's cooking, time love and attention seems to be put in each dish! Their ravioli is something of perfection. With the food being so amazing it's hard at times when they have there bands playing or get busy, with limited seating inside for such a great restaurant it still has an active bar with the band in afternoons into the night. I suggest making a reservation for their back room which has a very nice old school Italian ambiance. read more

We split a charcuterie which contained cold cuts, blue cheese and Parmesan cheese. Along with the bread we received was quite good. They have a wood fired oven and you can really notice the difference between that and other Pizzas that are not baked in one. . We split the tartafeller pizza which was delicious. It is 12 inches in size so with a n appetizer or salad it is a great item to split. I loved the cherry tomatoes on the pizza that would just pop in your mouth. The crust is as so good. We went on a weekday around 1 PM, and the restaurant wasn't busy (just a few other tables), so service was attentive and quick.
