Perfect thin crust (but they also have Sicilian). Do yourself a favor and check out Bada Bing in Venice FL. I highly recommend the 'special' which actually has white sesame seeds on the crust edge. May 21, 2025 - Update almost 4 years later. Take out for 3. We finally moved to Venice from Osprey and the MIL we were caring for in Northport had passed away. I have tried Big Mike's and other in the area and we are always looking for great pizza, great buffalo wings, & a good buffalo pizza. I forgot I had been here years ago. My wife directed me here for pickup and she was hankering for buffalo wings. She makes FANTASTIC wings!!! The bar is not really that high. 1) must be properly and thoroughly cooked. We are not talking 'well done' but firm/crisp skin.....not rubbery and fatty. simple? 2) she like flats, I basically don't eat meat much for the saturated fats so when I am 'eating the thighs' that she and my daughter don't want, see item #1 - I want the fat baked out. ******* She talked with the order taker and was told they don't do 'flat only orders' but they are about 50/50 flats and thighs. She ordered well done, thoroughly done, crisp skin. ***** We ordered a large plain to give that part of the experiment a try as well...the pizza sauce, cheese and ingredients were tasty and nice. The dough/crust is also flavorful and this is a upper percentile pizza in our book. The pizza was a little doughy and undercooked. Seems everybody like to rush the oven and process. It was getting cold as I waited for our undercooked wings for another 10 minutes. The 10 wing Barbecue wings were very rubbery and undercooked. Tasty ok but oddly the sugary barbecue sauce coating had jelled and crystalized from a fast or too high cooking temperature. Most disturbingly for my wife who ordered this......there were exactly ZERO flats in the order. NONE!!!! So on the TWO simple request a total FAIL. 0/10 The Buffalo Wing order was similar. Good taste and flavor but rubbery skin and undercooked. FAIL on criteria #1. In this case there were exactly TWO out of ten wings were flats. So 20% flats NOT the 'guaranteed' closer to 50%. A FAIL on the second criteria. 2/10 I did like the interior and the women behind the counter was pleasant as was the wait staff wandering our the place. I took a picture of a couple's dinner coming out and it 'looked' very nice!!! Loved the interior for a simple pizza and Italian restaurant. I don't think there will be a third try for us here. Too many other options. Footnote: (picture here somewhere) We re-baked the wings the next day after my wife ate the TWO our of twenty wings that were the flats that she wanted the previous night. They were properly cooked then and those 100% thighs - came out great . Sad we could not get what we ordered - OR what was promised? Also they have a hidden sneaky UP CHARGE for non cash purchases. Basically makes an already average expensive meal just more expensive. More like a cable bill than a restaurant. read more

I can't say we drove over 3 hours just for this place, but after grabbing a pie and garlic knots on our first night in town, I actually think it might be applicable. I ordered a simple pepperoni pie with light tomato sauce to go, and while waiting, the staff was engaging and asking me where I was from and what my plans were. Everyone there was so friendly, and made this out-of-towner feel like he was there every week. The pizza was PHENOMENAL. Like I mentioned, we always order pies with light sauce, but their sauce had such a deep flavor profile that I would have been fine if they poured a bucket of it on top. Their "mootzarella" cheese is as fresh as it gets, and the staff even gave me a little pinch of it while I waited. And as if the pizza wasn't otherworldly, they have the best garlic knots/rolls/whateveryouwanttocallthem that my wife and I have ever had. Food here was very good. Ordered a calzone and like most Florida places, it was huge and had to take half home with me. The chicken wings were a bit average, prefer to have them sauced instead of drizzled with sauce. The calzone more than made up for the disappointing wings though. I have been going to this family run restaurant since I was a child. It has lasted through all the changes that Venice has seen in the last few decades. Benny Bada Bing serves the best pasta in Venice hands down. They don't shy away from the garlic, I love it. Personally I go with the garlic knots which are loaded with garlic and olive oil. Bada Bing is a "hole in the wall" family owned restaurant in Venice on the east side of 41. It's easy to miss because it's a small strip mall. However, if you watch for the Bada Bing sign you will find it. Bruce is from Philly and part Italian so he has the same attachment to Italian food as I do to Mexican food. He had said he thought he didn't or wouldn't find good Italian food in SW Florida - but we had several recommendations for Bada Bing from neighbors & friends and we decided to try it. The family that operates it has been in FL over 20 years but they are originally from NY. We had mussels Fra Diavolo and the restaurant served us garlic knots which had tons of buttery garlic sauce. I got the arancini (rice balls - I recommended to neighbor who loves them). Bruce got ravioli & it was delicious. I had the antipasta salad - I can't eat a lot of pasta or bread - and it was PACKED with delicious Italian meats & cheese. Dressing (Italian) very good. As we were leaving, the kind owner gave us a loaf of ciabatta bread. I make bread so I can promise, this was a delicious, great texture homemade loaf. We have not yet had pizza at Bada Bing but there were some gentlemen sitting near us that had a large pizza & it looked tremendous. I am not an Italian food expert but I can taste well-seasoned scratch cooking and this is it. Bruce loved Bada Bing and he can't wait to go back. I enjoyed very much having delicious, well-seasoned and prepared food and the family is funny and nice. You will feel at home right after walking in the door. I wish I'd taken more pictures - all I could get was the leftovers! I will say that if you see a comment here that the pizza was like frozen pizza from Publix & mentioning a pizza place in Englewood is better ... some people DO like supermarket pizza so take that one with a grain of salt! From the moment we walked in, the staff (family) welcomed us (sit at the round table). Chef said they had best garlic knots in Sarasota County. Not quite the whole story...as they were the best garlic knots in Florida. (Ask for the "lava" (amazing dipping sauce). We ordered salads, eggplant parm, chicken francese (fav) and a medium pep/saus/onion pizza. Pizza was amazing. Stella (and mugs) ice cold. So then there's Sal. Owner and most passionate person. Well where do I start. On vacation last week with my daughter and grand children. Ordered pizza from Benny's because is got great reviews. We had Door Dash provided by this establishment to deliver pizza. The product was delivered and it was not edible. The pizza was soaking with grease, so much to the topping had slid off one of the pizza's. We called Benny's, they said we had to go through Door Dash. Door Dash did nothing. So took the pizza's back to Benny's. They said we didn't need to do that because it wasn't their fault. I tried to explain that it was their product. Didn't make any difference. By the way, spoke with Benny himself and his mouthy employee. They were not going to budge. No replacement was ever offered. My grand children had no pizza that night. Not a good establishment to visit on vacation. Customer service was terrible. I understand he owns several other eateries in the area. Please beware. read more

What an amazing find! Living in NYC and New Jersey our entire lives, my husband and I are used to fabulous food! When we moved to Florida 3 years ago, one of our goals was to find the best Italian food and pizza ! Apparently, we've been settling for mediocre at best. A few days ago, we were recommended to try Benny's Bada Bing by a local Sarasota County employee. We never heard of this place even though it was very close to our home. We took a chance last night and are now hooked! When we walked in, a gentleman signaled to us to come to the kitchen. He asked if we were eating in. We told him how we were referred to his restaurant and he immediately sat us at the "family" table. It was Benny himself. The dialog was warm and memory filled as we were both from New York. We truly felt at home! We ordered the garlic knots which were insanely incredible, a large pie half eggplant half artichoke and black olives. It was not oily and soggy but crisp and made to perfection! Benny was so gracious.... he brought out 2 pasta dishes for us to try. A carbonara with pancetta and a vodka sauce. Truly some of the best dishes we've ever had! My husband is very picky with his pasta and Italian food as he cooks from learning from his grandmother! He was beyond impressed! Benny gave us a jar of his homemade sauce which we will enjoy at home! They also had a canoli dessert for my husband's birthday We met his wife, daughter and family so truly it was like we've been there many times! Coming from the New Haven area that has incredible pizza, I found Benny's Bada Bing pizza the better pizza here, although Florida pizza can't even come close. we live about 30 mins away, but it was descent pizza at Bada Bing. Picked up 2 pizzas today,payed cash because they charge a ridiculous 4 percent charge to use a charge card. what happened? Both pizzas were tasteless. I ordered an onion & bacon that had barely any onions & no bacon!! A few bacon bits were barely on it. The other was a mozzarella pizza with sausage. Barely any mozzarella & not much sausage that was so thinly sliced it had no taste. Where's the garlic?Never go back, really has gone downhill, what a shame! read more

We ate here a couple of weeks ago. nice family run business. we started with garlic knots very large potion loaded with garlic. our meals were chicken parmigiana and a believe chicken with a lemon sauce (my wife ate this). Both meals were very good, nice portions and cooked correctly to our taste. Went for our first time this evening. The food was all delicious! We had Eggplant Parmesan, Lasagna, Grandma's Pizza which was a delicious concoction of tomatoes, garlic, mozzarella and pesto. And a sausage and pepperoni pizza. Portions were generous, which allowed us to enjoy the next day. And the garlic rolls are to die for!!! We all too cannoli's home to enjoy later.
